Was referred to Dr. Vogel by my dentist. In highschool I had braces but never wore my retainer after wards so my teeth began to get gaps again. Now as an adult I find a nice smile important and went back to get Invisalign! Dr. Vogel is very much involved in all things that go on in the office and it's nice to see. He will come check in on you after every follow up appointment and even helps with care for your teeth after Invisalign is removed. As for cost, I couldn't tell you how much they were as my insurance covered the majority. However, if you want nice teeth and a team that cares... this is the location. This ortho has been the best experience- let me explain why: This is my second round of orthodontics. I was NOT excited about this. However, dr Vogel and his staff have made it quite a pleasant experience. His staff are super friendly. They remember me and treat me with kindness. Dr Vogel himself is very helpful and honest. The accounts specialist, Karen, has guided me on how to save money for myself (instead of using my cc to pay for my ortho treatment, she explained fsa - which has saved me so so so much money), and was very thorough in explaining everything to me. I would give this practice a zero if I could. I was originally referred to Dr. Evan by my primary dentist. Upon arrival the staff was not the friendliest, maybe because my appointment was towards the of the day? Anyways, I continued with the appointment and the dental assistant was angry because "I was not aligning my jaw correctly for the pictures", this was the main reason for the visit.... Unfortunately it didn't seem they knew why I was going to see Dr. Vogul. Second appointment, upon checking in I was informed by the receptionist that they were ready to place braces on me... no one had a conversation about this and they were going to move forward. I stated that this was never communicated with me and mentioned that I was just there for a consultation. After a few more visits, it was very clear there is no communication at this facility. I received several invoices stating that my insurance did not cover specific x-rays. I called the office to confirm and it was stated that this was communicated to me at the time of checking, it was not. Overall this was one of the worst experiences I've had at a doctors office. read more

I was a patient at Dr. Vogel's office prior to Yelp becoming a hit. I was referred to Dr. Vogel by my dentist and didn't know any better. Dr. Vogel advised me I could fix my bite with or without surgery. Initially, I concurred with the surgery, then had a change of heart after I learned how intensive the surgery was. This was shortly after the process started. Dr. Vogel was unhappy with my decision and never changed course in my treatment. He was dismissive and never explored alternate options. When I expressed my concerns about my bite, he made me feel guilty about not having the surgery rather than attempting to fix my bite. We were early in the process so it seemed like he punished me for not doing his bidding. For the nearly $6K I paid, I would expect an orthodontist to have some pride and professional credibility to not end my treatment with a bad bite and teeth hitting each other. Ultimately, Dr. Vogel took advantage of a young college student who didn't know any better. He doesn't care aligning teeth, bites or patients; he only cares about your money. read more

Dr. Vogel is the BEST in the Bay Area. He fixed my daughter's teeth and is wonderful with kids. I love his approach to explaining everything in a personal no-pressure consultation. He has the ability and bedside manner to explain complex procedures in easy to understand language. Anything with orthodontics or dentistry is usually a downer, but Dr. Vogel makes it fun. His work and staff are excellent and extremely organized about reminding me about upcoming appointments which I really appreciated. read more

I've come here for many years now, for both check-ins and for specific services, and I've always been checked-in quickly and seen right at my appointment time (never had to wait). Dr. Vogel is a consummate professional and skilled orthodontist. Like Beck L., I am a patient that Dr. Vogel inherited from Dr. Ingram's practice in the mid-1990s. By then, my braces had been removed and I visited Dr. Vogel's office on only one or two occasions. I found him to be a kind and thorough both times. Over a decade after last seeing Dr. Vogel, he treated me with the same courtesy and warmth that a medical professional would extend to current patients. For example, one Thursday night my lower "permanent" retainer declared its independence, breaking free from my teeth and threatening to be a nuisance. This happened two nights before I was scheduled to travel for a few days. On Friday morning, I dropped by Dr. Vogel's office only to discover the office was closed on Fridays. Fortunately, Dr. Vogel was there meeting with a contractor. I explained that my retainer wire broke and without hesitation, he invited me into his work area and examined my teeth. Dr. Vogel did not interrogate me, require me to fill out paperwork, or ask me to call his office the following Monday, though he would have been fully justified to do so. Instead, he was most concerned about and focused on my teeth. With several deft motions he removed my retainer and its components and took an impression of my teeth. A few days later I was equipped with a new clear retainer, which served me well (until I lost it, but that's a whole other story). I agree with Daly D. that Dr. Vogel's practice is quite high-tech and, perhaps, errs on the side of being over-extended. Nevertheless, the staff have always been courteous and competent and I've never had to wait longer than five minutes; on the flip-side, Dr. Vogel and his staff are so efficient and quick that my visits with Dr. Vogel have never lasted more than 15 minutes. This might disappoint patients/parents who really desire face time with Dr. Vogel. read more

Both my son and daughter have used Dr. Vogel's services. He is friendly and approachable and takes his profession seriously. I was equally impressed by his staff as they take the time to explain the procedures and don't get pushed out of shape when discussing payment plans. Speaking of payment plans, although we had ortho coverage, it only covered about 1/3rd of the bill. Dr. Vogel's office set up an easy pay plan without interest. When my daughter had problems with her dental hygiene practices - Dr. Vogel removed the braces and said he will reinstall them for free once her teeth get better. What orthodontist would do that? So far so good... My son has a lot of problems with his teeth and jaw. He had a huge underbite, but after a while of treatment and braces, the underbite looks better and is fixed. It's not perfect but better than before. We were told this is one of three phases for his pre-adult corrections. So it's going to be a long and expensive ride. What compels me to write this review is our most recent visit. We were wrapping up phase one with braces coming off. HOORAY! They told us that they need an impression of the uppers to see the final result. So my son is sitting in the chair and this lady comes up from behind him, a bit abruptly, and tells him to open and shoves the mold full of goop to get a mold of his teeth. She didn't give him much warning and came from behind on his right. He was not really prepared for that. Plus he has major issues with motion sickness and a massive gag reflex. Sometimes he feels nauseous just sitting there. So this combined led to him convulsing, pulling on the lady's arm trying to pull it out, and gagging on the mold being shoved into his mouth. She kept saying, "NO NO NO don't spit it out. NO NO NO." After watching my son struggle for his second attempt while keeping the thing in his mouth the whole time (so this is not two separate attempts), he starts gagging, eyes watering, and pulls on her arm to take it out. After watching this happen, I intervene and start saying loudly/yelling, "Take it out. TAKE IT OUT!" Well, she didn't like hearing a parent bark at her, especially in front of other kids. But hey, when it comes to the safety of my child and knowing how he is, I'm not bothered. So another lady comes by and offers to try a smaller mold. I tell her there was too much goop in the first one and it was seeping up into his nose so he couldn't breathe. While they were preparing the 2nd go at it, I told my son told relax, breathe deeply, know that it's going to happen, and close his eyes. We were successful. On my next visit to pick up the doctor's note for school I forgot, Dr. Vogel pulled me aside, said he saw the thing happen out of the corner of his eye and wanted to discuss it. He basically apologized and I explained how my son is. We discussed what we should do the next time impressions are needed and that he would write down notes. I thought this was very considerate of him. Sure we will probably spend thousands more at his practice. But I liked the fact that he pulled me aside to carefully discuss what happened and how to prevent it in the future. read more

Having had 4 children and 2 other orthodontists, I feel Dr. Vogel is a lovely person but...his practice is way over extended. You do in fact wait way to long. I waited 40 minutes just for a consultation. (Not a good way to start with a prospective client.) Office staff is not as friendly or accomodating as they could be. His practice is very modern, including video games for the kids to play with while they wait inside to be seen. ---Make no bones about it, you pay for all the fancy stuff. His original quote for my kid's teeth was 1,600 more than what 2 other orthodontist quoted me. Get a second opinion. He also just had his staff call me with the quote, did not even bother to book an appointment. Not very cool, since I had questions, she could not answer. I was also concerned with the fact that his adjustment appointments are scheduled during school hours. This makes it difficult for parents and child. Finally, I don't feel he can be a good orthodontist when you have more clients than you can reasonably handle. Again, he is a nice guy with a great demeanor but he is pricey and his office is way to busy. read more

I went to the office three times and did consultation and x rays from December 2012 till February 2013. Now after 8 months, the claims were never submitted right. And I checked my Metlife account, no claim in 2013 and a claim in December 2012 with a wrong amount. I have followed up a lot with them until now. I feel so frustrated. They said they have submitted the claim several times and the problem is with the insurance, But I never have any problem with my insurance or dental office before. I can only say their staff is extremely not professional in handling claims. Also, they never call me to follow up, it's always me to call them about the status. If you want to try the office, pay all the fee by your own, get the bill statements every month and enjoy the bad treatment from the staff, please go to the office. Or please flee away. read more

I was referred to Dr. Vogel by our family dentist for my daughter. Upon our first consultation I had lot's of questions regarding her bight and the fact that she may inherit my bite and I was quite worried about this. I was basically poo [ooed off as if he really didn't have time. I did not care for the appt's either as he spoke to my twelve year old instead of me directly. After her braces came off I asked for a permanent retainer which is located behind the teeth and was told that nobody does them anymore. So we had to get the plastic invisalign. Low and behold yesterday my dentist told me they are still being used. If I had it to do all over again I would have gone elsewhere. read more

I already did a full set of x-rays with pediatric dentist; but was told needed a new set which when was taken and they were exactly what the original set looked like!? Very very bad service my kids dentist recommended him. I went to the first appointment and they charged me 30 dollars just to talk to doctor Vogel . After that they gave me another appointment for x rays. They charged me 145 dollars since I didn't have dental insurance I wanted to know how much the treatment will be but they never told me or gave me a treatment plan. This is a waste of time with them. With 4 kids and frequent corporate relocations, I have been to several orthodontists. Dr. Vogel by far is the best in terms of knowledge, genuine interest in patient's progress, value, office professionalism and friendliness. He was quickly able to pick up where other orthodontists left off and cared about what my kids had to say. He also spent a lot of time explaining the course of the treatment for each of my kids. His office is high tech which is what you want from a doctor's office and the kids love going since they can play video games while waiting for their appointment. Yes, it can be hard to get an appointment which is a testament to a well-liked, sought-after and good doctor. However, in an emergency they always fit you right in. It's hard to find a doctor these days who cares about service, quality of treatment and people but Dr. Vogel's practice focuses on all these issues. read more

I met Dr. Vogel 1995ish after he took over for my first orthodontist, Dr. Ingram. Dr. Ingram was a skilled orthodontist. My friends got their braces here, my sister slept with headgear for a few months thanks to him. Even Fremont's Olympic star got her braces with Ingram. In the office hallway, Kristy Yamaguchi autographed a photo, "Thank you Dr. Ingram for my gold medal winning smile." Wow... a real star. Since Kristy and I both have great smiles, you know that Dr. Ingram's work was top notch. However, I was never too fond of Dr. Ingram's roughness. He worked with a detailed eye and his fingers were nimble as he twisted wires to wretch my teeth into place. But, my lips would crack and mirror reflections showed drips of blood in between my teeth. Oh... Dr. Ingram was not cruel nor callous but after thousands of young patients, he was probably more focused on just the teeth work than this teen pointing at the horrors of blood in her mouth. Then, Dr. Vogel showed up. As a teen, I was awestruck at how caring this younger orthodontist took care of my teeth. He was everything an 18 year old could want... skilled and detailed (so I could have a prom- perfect smile) but also sweet and caring. He was sympathetic when my inner cheeks were scored by the wires and verbalized every move he was about to make. No surprises. I liked that. In short, he was awesome. I was starting to develop a mini-crush on my orthodontist. In my final visits as a teen, the office placed a wire in the back of my teeth to act as a retainer. I left the office, went to college, graduated, found a career, and a husband. Fast forward to 2008, today. That wire snapped and I needed it repaired. I asked my regular dentists to fix it but they didn't have proper equipment. With no where else to turn, I Yelped Dr. Vogel and thank goodness, his office was still around albeit, a different location. The office was able to give me a same day appointment, and after some paperwork, I was talking to Dr. Vogel in 15 min. (I dislike doctors or dentists that over book and make patients wait.) We caught up, and that mini-crush resurfaced as a 10 second blush. After the pinkness subsided from my cheeks, Dr. Vogel inspected my wire, consulted with me the options, and completed the repair work. Just like he was 12 years ago, he told me every move he was about to make so there was zero surprises. I really appreciate such fine work especially on MY teeth. Although I didn't attend any proms this year, I feel utterly happy about Dr. Vogel's work. I even feel appreciative that Dr. Ingrim selected the perfect person to take over his practice. I left the office completely satisfied and noting that as soon as I have kids, we would return for orthodontist visits. Other aspects that I love about this place- easy parking, easy drop off, close to Paseo Padre so when afternoon traffic hits, I don' t have to deal with 880. Also, the supporting staff. I brought my kid here for a complimentary first evaluation based on a recommendation by a friend. Firstly, the waiting room was packed. We then had to wait a long time to see Dr Vogel. He is pleasant but I got the impression that he flies in/out with each patient, while delegating most of the work to his staff. His schedule is so full that it was several weeks before I could schedule a follow-up consult. I chose another orthodontist who was more accessible, and offered a more personable experience. read more

Dr. Vogel is very nice and polite when you're talking to him but once you look away, his smile disappears. I had braces put on a couple of years ago and didn't have to have them on for so long. He promised to get them off before April 2009. In November 2008, he said they'll probably come off in January or February. Didn't happen. April came, he promised to get them off at least before June. Didn't happen. Then he promised by the end of the summer. Isn't happening. He has so many patients he doesn't remember everyone. I explain to him that I'm moving down south every time I visit and he is surprised every single time. I would expect for him to make a note of that somewhere the FIRST time I told him. Now he's telling me I have to come back during Thanksgiving break to have another check up... My teeth weren't even that messed up to begin with and the estimated time I had to have braces for was only 14 months. read more

Dr. Vogel straightened my teeth in 3 years. A decade later, my teeth are still straight, and when I need to replace my retainer he still remembers personal information about me. I was shocked to see Dr. Vogel had two reviews that were less than 5 stars because honestly this guy is the BEST. He is genuine, caring, and efficient. I've had my braces off for over 6 years now and when I come in for my check ups he still asks me specific questions about how various things in my life are going. When I was coordinating my appointments with a busy high school and college schedule (especially during breaks when I was home from school and have very limited availability), Dr. Vogel always managed to squeeze me in so I could see him. My follow up routine check ups each year are always a welcomed occasion to see him. I heard a lot from my friends about their various orthodontic experiences and they missed out not seeing Dr. Vogel! His office is wonderful, bright, open, State of the art equipment, and lots of video games for the kids. It is a pleasure to go there for appointments.
