If you want authentic New Haven-style apizza in Stamford, Sally's delivers. I ordered my favorite: a white clam pizza with bacon on half. The clams were fresh, the crust had that signature char and chew, and I didn't miss the tomato sauce for a second. Judging from nearby tables, though, the red pies are every bit as popular. We grabbed seats at the bar, and that turned out to be part of the fun. The bartender was fantastic and even shared the secret to a perfect Whiskey Sour: dry shake the whiskey, lemon juice, and egg white first to build that silky foam, then add ice and shake again. She also noted that aquafaba--the liquid from canned chickpeas--can create a similar effect for vegan or egg-free drinkers. The cocktail arrived beautifully presented with a real Luxardo cherry and was as good as any craft cocktail I've had - which is sayin' something LOL! Great dinner outside on the patio around 7pm, and only had to wait 5-10 minutes to seat a small group of 4. The pizza portions and quality are excellent, but we would probably try a few different appetizers on the next visit. Favorite pie was the Calabrian Stinger, since it had a great spice kick! Came here with a large group of friends. We had reservations for 8:15 on a Friday night, but apparently there were two other large groups that had reservations before us and they still weren't finished so we had to wait for a while for one of the groups to finally leave. The staff did offer us free appetizers to make up for the wait, however, and they were delicious--meatballs with red sauce (with red pepper flakes, just in case spice isn't your thing) and whipped ricotta. I ordered the white clam pie and it was very good (and enough fresh chopped garlic to keep the vampires away all night-lol). I've been here twice in the past two weeks because the food is excellent and the service is consistently friendly. I'd happily keep coming back... except for one major issue. The restrooms smell like a street corner outside a busy bar at 2:00 a.m. Both visits. Both bathrooms. I honestly found myself wondering if anyone is cleaning them. A clean restroom says a lot about how a restaurant is maintained, and this is one area that desperately needs attention. It's a shame because the kitchen and staff deserve much higher marks, but the bathroom situation loses major points. Please give them the same care you're giving the food! read more

Had a great lunch at Sally Apizza! The restaurant is clean, busy, and very spacious. We started with the oven-charred brussel sprouts which was topped with balsamic and parm. We also had a house salad with onions, tomatoes, raw mushrooms, olives, shaved parm, and a ton of vinaigrette. For our table of 6, we shared the tomato sauce pie, New Haven original clam, and the garden special. The garden special was my favorite bite that day because of the mushrooms, peppers, onions, and broccolini. The original clam pizza was also good, and I tried it after reading some Yelp reviews, but next time, I'll know to order the garden special and try another specialty flavor. Overall, had a really good experience at this Sally's Apizza location, but still prefer the dingy old school pizzeria feel of the original in New Haven. We came on a random Saturday and although we didn't have a reservation, they were able to accommodate out party of 3 (+ baby). The restaurant was surprisingly packed on such an unassuming Saturday afternoon, but I guess the pizza is just that good. The ambiance is classier than the original -- kind of a clean brewery aesthetic, which was pleasant, but made me worried the food wouldn't be as good; I shouldn't have had any concern, as the pizza was JUST as good. We went with: -The italian wings -A small basil burrata pie -A pie whose name escapes me, but it had italian sausage, ricotta cheese, and onions -Slice of cannoli pie The food was the right amount for 3 adults, just for reference. The italian wings were fine, a hint of heat if you can't handle it, though I wouldn't write home about. The basil burrata pie was good -- the sauce had really good sweet tomatoes without being overpowering, but the uneven distribution of burrata meant that some slices were sadder than others. I really loved the italian sausage/ricotta pie, I'm still thinking about it -- it was definitely the heavier of the two, but felt heartier. The only concern, that some other Yelpers have already noted, is that sometimes they get a bit carried away with the char, so expect some burnt black marks. Service was worse than the pizza. The pizza eh. Fell off so badly. I loved this place last I visited. So sad. Off the list of places to eat. Management exists but is really non existent...such a shame. And we spent $95 on 2 large pies and 1 HH beer and 1 weird af drink on their signature cocktail list and it took the bartender about 10 mins to make...unacceptable. No manager or even our server asked if we were good or needed anything else...the entire place was empty and still had all these people working, for what??? Truth be told, we first tried out the original New Haven branch. We lined up for about 45 mins to be told that it was going to be another hour or so once seated for pizzas to be served. We then decided to head to the Stamford branch given the restaurant was taking reservations. We arrived at the Stamford branch at 8:30pm. The restaurant was still relatively full. Ordered 1 large original, 1 clam pizza, 1 pepperoni and one garlic bread. The garlic bread came out first and it was really nice, crunchy and garlicky. The pizzas came out next, piping hot straight from the oven. All were delicious and enjoyable however I don't think it warranted the wait at the original place. Updated April 2026: after my initial bad first experience a manager at this location, Alyssa, reached out to me to address my issues. I gave their pizza another try and I'm pleased to say it was a lot better than the first time! I enjoyed the classic tomato sauce and mozzarella and the variety of toppings we tried were also good. I grew up on Sally's on Wooster in New Haven, so I am judging Sally's Stamford location with extraordinarily high expectation. While NH is old school and bare bones, Stamford is a big modern space with a menu that is expanded to include many appetizers and non pizza items. Service was good and friendly. The apps were outstanding: light & flavorful meatballs, delicious grilled broccolini, and a wonderful chopped salad. Sadly no pix as we deleted the apps in record time. The pizza was very good, but sadly not at the same level as New Haven. The crust, while thin and with zero flop, does not have the same wonderful flavor...it is kind of bland. Some of the best pizza I've had in Connecticut! New Haven style never fails. My girlfriend I stopped by for lunch to end off our trip in Stamford- we had a lovely/delicious time. The service was great and we got our food relatively fast as it wasn't too crowded on a Tuesday for lunch. We started off with a Caesar salad, which was one of the best I've ever had- chock loaded with dressing, Parmesan cheese, and pickled onions. I've never had Caesar salad with pickled onions before, but it was an absolute game changer. For our pizza, we ordered the Calabrian stinger special which came with spicy salami, hot honey, halloumi, pecorino, and peppers. It was absolutely amazing. Such an incredible contrast between sweet and spicy, and the New Haven thin crust was to die for. We absolutely devoured our lunch and left feeling super satisfied. I got there ten min before I was told it'd be ready. It was ready ...and cold. I ordered a large. When I got home and opened it, the "large" was about 13 inches across and was smaller than the box all around by several inches. The cheese was cold and over burnt. This is the worst pizza I've ever had. Compared to Modern, Pepe's-- even the Pepe's in Stamford--this pizza was just so bad! Hard. Chewy in all the wrong ways. Dry. Tasteless. And quite unsatisfying! It was inedible. Last time I tried to order take out from here, the oven was apparently broken and instead of telling ppl about this, they kept taking orders and just had people wait and wait "another 20 min" " another 20 min" etc. I tried to be patient and had already sunk in the time waiting-- it was over 2 and half hours before I was informed about the oven not working. I was so, so upset--they should have been upfront about something like that. I didn't complain then though bc I was again trying to be patient--Everyone has bad days. Today, I finally decided to try them again and again I was utterly and completely disappointed. I can't keep silent anymore. It was just THAT bad. Never coming back here again. It's close. The dough was a little tough for me, but it had a nice char from the oven. The wings were the standout though. Crispy, that same char, with a sauce that tasted like Thai chili sauce mixed with chopped Calabrian chili's served with a little creamy ranch style sauce. Fantastic. I visited this location of Sally's Apizza when I was in the area a few weekends ago. We stopped at Sally's for lunch before getting on the train in Stamford - it was our last meal on our Connecticut trip. The restaurant is large and modern; we were very comfortable. The service was also great - their menu is huge, and our server was very patient with us and helpful. We were visiting on a Monday, so we were able to take advantage of their lunch special offerings. (On Monday-Friday, between 11:30-4:00, they offer several specials!) Together, we shared: a Caesar salad (romaine, pickled onions, grilled croutons, Grana Padano, Parmesan, and dressing); a New Haven Original Clam apizza (mozzarella, fresh clams, fresh garlic, and Parmesan); a mozzarella & tomato sauce pie - with added onions; and a mozzarella & tomato sauce pie - with added meatballs and whipped ricotta. I thought everything was good and had good value (the Caesar salad, for example, was huge - great for sharing with a group). My favorite was easily the clam pie - they brought plenty of lemon on the side, which made it perfect. I was supposed to have a team dinner here last week but it was canceled due to the blizzard. Fast forward to Thursday when I was still in town and on my own for food. My best friend told me I had to try New Haven pizza. I'd been eyeing their potato pizza (don't knock it till you try it) so I DoorDash'd it to my hotel. Unfortunately it was a fail. Let me start by saying I couldn't have been more shocked to see an overall 3 star rating. When I say this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in my entire life I am 100% serious. From Nina, the incredible manager who treated us like family to Abraham the best and most humble server this side of the Mississippi, we were off to an incredible start...and then the food arrived. It should go without saying that Sally's is an institution - an-east coast household name and for good reason. Don't be naive to think that Sally's is a one stop shop though. Super creative and delicious cocktails, fantastic apps including fried dough and prosciutto, some of the best meatballs I've ever had, a 10/10 Caesar salad--and of course the type of pizza I imagine they serve at heaven's gate. Thin and crispy to perfection and an array of brilliant specialty pies including the famous clam that I would not miss even on a sick day. No part of me was expecting to write this review -but when I'm blown away by ambiance, service, hospitality and of course taste--it would be a disservice to let these words remain unspoken. I was at Sally's Apizza on Sunday, June 9, 2026, on my way home to Massachusetts from visiting my sister in Pennsylvania. The service was extremely slow, and I had to go to the hostess booth three separate times to get my server and then to finally try to pay our bill. Unfortunately, I left my debit card in the bill holder and did not realize it until I was back in Massachusetts. I immediately called that night and was told that they did have my card but could not mail it to me. Once I explained that I lived in another state, the girl assured me they would send it out the next day and took my address and repeated the address back to me to make sure she had it correctly. After 5 days and not receiving my card, I called and was told that they had mailed it the day before and it should be arriving within the next day or two. I waited another 5 days and called and was told the manager put it in the mail the night before and again should be getting it within a few days. I called a couple of days ago and asked to speak with the manager, who said they didn't have my card, so it must have been mailed. It has been so frustrating because if they were not going to mail it out, then they should not have agreed to. I had to go to the bank today and get a new debit card, and I have now been trying to change my card number for all my automatic withdrawals. I felt they were very unprofessional and not very customer-friendly. read more
