I've lived in the area most of my life & have always heard great things about Sally's. Today was mine (& my children's) first time here. I regret waiting so long to try it! From the moment we walked in, I could feel the relaxing & familial atmosphere. We arrived at the same time as 2 snowmobilers which made me realize the restaurant is located right off the trail. All I could think is how incredible that must be-- riding around & then stopping for delicious food at a super small, friendly diner. An elderly couple walked in & were greeted by name. They joked about how much they missed the waitresses. You can tell most of the patrons were regulars. Anyhow, we ordered pancakes, crab cake Benedict, & a basic breakfast plate with eggs, toast, home fries, bacon. Everything was fantastic. Portions are generous. The waitress complimented my daughter's breakfast pajamas & assured us, Sally, who was cooking our food, would be out to see them. She did in fact come out & was truly such a gem. We ate breakfast here this morning, both of us were not impressed. The hash was nasty, i asked for my eggs to be over hard, they were still runny, turned me off immediately. My wife asked for her eggs to be over medium, they were over easy. Pancakes were ok, nothing special. Staff was very friendly. We wouldnt go back, better places in the area. read more

We have been stopping here for breakfast and lunch for awhile. The food is awesome and fresh. Corned beef hash is made in house and the huevos rancheros when they offer it is a must have. Coffee is great as is the crew. read more

bright, homey diner / luncheonette-type place with a big traditional menu. No surprises but good comfort food: patty melt, Reuben, wraps and onion rings are all top shelf. If Wayne is there turn around and walk out. He give small portions and big attitude. He gives almost half the amount of food than any other cook. He is very unfriendly with a better than thou attitude. If anyone else is cooking you'll be ok. read more

Well we decided to try been driving past for years. We really should have kept driving! Owner never had a mask on, wish I could say the food made up for it . Was a special on the board that was more expensive than the price ala cart in the menu, The waitresses long hair was down no hair net ! On to the food, NASTY eggs were not cooked, there was more fat in the hash than corned beef. Not very clean place either, food al over the floor. My advice: keep driving read more

My husband and I stopped for dinner, we each got the Special, fried fish and Mac and cheese both of which were cold, we told the waitress, who said she would tell the chef, she came back and asked us if we wanted dessert, really? I was really disappointed, because we get great breakfasts there, maybe it was a bad hair day! read more

7/14. Ordered porkchops, mashed potatoes, vegetable medley and coleslaw. Partner had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and hamburg/noodle soup. My porkchops were very tough and tasteless no spices not even salt on the chops. Mashed potatoes tasted as if they had been cooked yesterday or earlier in the day and refrigerated. They were dry as if no fluid had been used. The coleslaw needed sugar. My Partners soup tasted like pureed canned ravioli to me. My Partner thought it was great??? The meatloaf had been grilled to be reheated, but tasted better to me than the chops. Both of us had gravy that was nondescript and bland. Dessert of strawberry shortcake was delicious. Won't go back for dinner any time soon. read more

They have the best chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. I enjoy the breakfast: eggs and bacon with a side of toasted bread with butter. Lunch: BLT clubs are amazing! Dinner: chicken and dumplings are Better then mama's. It's the best diner in the Hudson Falls/Fort Edward Area. read more

The three of us went here for breakfast and it was mediocre at best. How can one screw up breakfast right? No seasoning what so ever on anything we ordered. Eggs were cooked without any seasoning home fries were tasteless and the sausage was just blah. The toast had some type of fake margarine that was caked on. (the eggs could have used some of this.) We will not ever be returning and will stick to our favorite breakfast spots in the area other than this place. read more

Great home cooked comfort food in a clean and family friendly atmosphere. Our party of 3 was seated immediately, we were told of the daily specials (which actually change) and for the love of all that is sacred, if they are known as the best chicken and biscuits then order the chicken and biscuits. Freshly made (still warm) made from scratch biscuits with home made mashed potatoes and string beans all coated in their chicken gravy.... Will definitely make the trip out there again even though is is a bit off the beaten path. read more

My husband & I stopped for breakfast yesterday morning. They were busy, but not packed & we didn't have to wait for a table. Waitress came right over to give us menus. After that, things went downhill quickly...She came back over quickly to take our drink order & then asked if we were ready to order food. It was rather soon, I hadn't even looked at the menu, but my husband was ready & I wanted pancakes. She never told us what the specials were, no mention of them at all. The tomato juice was warm. My OJ was sour and room temp. Then she brought breakfast. My pancakes were super thin, almost like crepes - and RAW. Pale, pasty pancakes. And there was something on the grill when they were cooking them. Savory, maybe flakes from the home fries. There was no way that they didn't know that they were under cooked. I ate around the outside, picking off the crunchy stuff. My Husband ordered the Mexican omelet. It looked good, but had no flavor. Blah! The home fries were under cooked and no flavor either. Never got the side of toast. The lady behind us complained about the amount of sugar free syrup she got. (Half an oz, maybe? She held it up.) the waitress said, Yup that's what she charges for...and walked away. 95 cents seems like a lot for something that wouldn't cover a half of a piece of french toast....At least I got a full oz of real syrup for that price. The waitress never came back... She never asked if we needed anything or how it was. We got the impression that she knew the pancakes were bad and was avoiding us. She walked over, dropped the check in the middle of the table and walked away. No Thanks, No Have a Nice Day, nothing. Seriously? We will not be going back. read more

I have been to Sally's many times since my first experience not too long ago. Although the atmosphere is a bit cramped and average, the price and serving sizes are great. My favorite menu item is the chicken fried steak and biscuits, which is hard to find locally. read more

My first visit...omg the chili...best chili I ever had and it was served in a bread bowl!! You definitely have to come visit Sally's Hen House! It'll totally be worth the trip!
