Andrea was wonderful. I moved to Northborough in December and, since then, have been looking for a hairdresser. Andrea was pretty good about taking me on time. After talking about the style of cut I wanted with photos, she seemed to know what I wanted! Then, she took her time in giving me a one-length angled lob--something I don't usually do. After she was done, she thought we could improve the look by cutting some more off the back. She meticulously made sure all the lines and angles were right. This salon did a phenomenal job and I absolutely recommended this place. I went to Daria and she transformed my hair. She was very thorough and took her time to make sure my hair came out how I wanted it, and it came out even better than expected. I had a Deva Cut and color with Maureen. We had a really great consultation and I loved that she was on top of current trends and understood the shape I wanted for my curly/wavy hair. She used some razor cutting which gave me the shaggy look I was going for. My highlights were fine, I feel like she didn't really place them according to my natural curl pattern, so once I was shampooed and dried, there was not much face framing blonde and instead had a few sections towards the back that felt out of place. read more

I love this place! I got my hair cut and styled here today by Ellen and she did a fantastic job! I just recently cut off and donated 19 inches of my hair (which my mother cut off) so I walked in with my hair all choppy and all over the place so I was nervous that it wasn't able to be fixed without going too short. I showed Ellen a picture of the haircut I wanted and she did it exactly as I asked for and took into consideration my concern of keeping as much length as possible. I am so excited for my new haircut and will definitely be back whenever I come back home from school. My mom also loves my haircut and plans on trying it out next time she needs a cut. REVISED COMMENT: Few weeks after my Initial appointment I was contacted directly by the owner, Andrea via yelp and asked that I call, come in and have my highlights re-done. Called and a week or so later I went in and she fixed them personally. She was very kind and I very much appreciated that she took the effort to reach out to me. The highlights were well done and although I had initially payed for a groupon that was for full highlights, I only received partial but that will suffice. Staff was friendly and stylist assigned to do my hair was friendly as well however she was significantly inexperienced. The rating is solely based on highlights not customer service, thoroughly pleased with customer service. After leaving I noticed my hair was lacking 'full highlights' and it looked more like I had full color rather than highlights. The highlights were so dense it simply changed the color of my hair as a whole. I didn't complain and instead tipped the young girl and wished her nothing but the best. Terrible experience. I came for a haircut appointment once and had to wait for 15 minutes to get my haircut, and I did. I got a decent haircut and decided to go back for a blow dry. But when I was late for a blow dry by 15, they sent me back. I also called at 2:33 and said I am on my way, and I will be there in 10, and I reached at 2:44, so I was late. I wish she had told me on the phone that she would send me back, I would have just stayed home! read more

Worst balayage and hair cut ever using groupon. Now orange thick patches all over on my hair instead of natural ash I requested. She never even do the full hair cut. Will never go back ever. Salon 77 is honestly the best salon I have ever been to. Andrea is so beyond talented, kind, and always gives me her full attention. She takes her time on cuts and colors and her main concern is that you're happy with the outcome. I have been seeing her for years now, and she never fails to give me an amazing haircut or color. Andrea appears to operate this salon like a doctor's office. I made a 11:00 am appointment that was confirmed. Today when I arrived at 10:50 am she was shampooing another patron's hair, and then at 11:00 am started cutting her hair. I informed them that I had an appointment at this time. There was no apology, and I was asked if I wanted to rebook my appointment. My response was an adamant no. Needless to say I have never experienced this kind of treatment at any other salon, and would never consider getting my hair cut here again. read more

I'm very particular about my hair cut and am always hesitant about trying new places. I was in the area for a few weeks for a consulting job and decided to give Salon 77 a try from the Yelp reviews. While the owner didn't cut my hair, I was attended to promptly and the haircut I ended up with was great! I did show him a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like beforehand though. I'm now back in the area and am going to visit sometime this week again! read more

It's been over a month since my visit to this salon and I'm still upset about the hair cut I received. The overall experience was okay. There wasn't anyone at the front desk when I walked in so it took a while to be greeted and then I had to wait about 15-20 min but it wasn't too bad. I liked my stylist's personality a lot, but she cut SO MUCH of my hair off. Far more than what I asked for. I looked nothing like the pictures I showed her and there were customers and stylists staring at us because of all the hair that was on the floor. I asked for a long bob and she gave me a choppy short bob that was about chin length. She also thinned it out substantially so my hair was just an overall mess. I think she knew she messed up too because she said in a couple of weeks it would look exactly how I wanted it to look... I ended up calling my former stylist and driving all the way to Wellesley right after to see what she could do to fix it but even she was in shock by how much the hair dresser took off and said I would have to wait for it to grow out in order to fix it. This is by far the worst hair cut I've ever received in my life. Luckily it's just hair and will grow back but never in a million years would I go back here. read more

Chelsea did a Fab job with my hair cut. She was very insightful about what would work with my hair (wavy). But the color wasn't exactly what I wanted. I'm not sure if the foils were left on too long (no timer), but I ended up with really bleached hair (my base is dark). The toner left it ash dark blonde, but I wanted caramel. I ended up getting it fixed by a friend, so now it's golden, but when the toner fades it'll be ashy again. I still loved the cut, but won't do highlights again. read more

Please read this review before going to this place. I solemnly swear to not exaggerate. This was my first time getting any sort of color in my hair, so naturally I was nervous. I told my hairstylist multiple times that I want very subtle and natural balyage. I also told her I have no experience with hair color, so I am going to have to trust her judgement. 3 hours later, I looked like a raccoon. I have very dark almost black hair, and she gave me BLONDE highlights! While she was congratulating herself, she said, "very nice and natural highlights!" I dont know know any black haired person with naturally blond highlights. This was beyond me. I said this was too light and she and the owner told me it looked beautiful and to give it a day or two to get used to it. I thought maybe I'd like it, but I didnt. I asked for it to be fixed, and they told me to come back. The one star is not for screwing up in the first place but for being rude and unwilling to fix their mistake. When I went back they treated me so horribly. My stylist was gracious about it, but the owner (Andrea?) treated me like I was some roadside scum extorting them unfairly. She was rude and extremely snooty. She said she can fix the color, but would NOT blow dry my hair again. Basically asked me to leave with a soppy wet mess. I told her to charge me for the blow dry, and even then she didnt have the grace to be ashamed and still pocketed the money. The second touch up was a shoddy work too, hastily and carelessly done. Basically, now I have dark hair, with medium brown highlights, and blonde patches. My hair looks so ugly. My hairdresser Claire was a nice person, and she seemed very hardworking. She was a single mom, going to school and also doing this job, working for a horrible boss (I think the boss is called Andrea). I made a point to leave a big tip, not for a job well done but for being a hardworking young woman. I am never going back, and I am going to make sure no one I know goes there. read more

The salon had a lot of positives and really few negatives. They were flexible in scheduling an appointment over the phone and were able to see me about an hour earlier when I called the same day. The hair stylists were friendly and professional. I was very happy with my cut! I had a Groupon for the cut which made this a great deal! At regular prices $40 for a haircut it's a bit pricey for the suburbs, but with the friendly and professional service still a good deal. read more

I went to the salon yesterday for the haircut and full foil. I purchased one of the vouchers from living social. This place is nice, I was offered water/coffee/tea, which is always a good touch. My stylist was Chelsea, I really liked her. She listened to what i wanted and had a few suggestions in mind based on her experience. I was very happy with the result and definitely recommend this place and her. The only reason i gave this place a 4-star rating, is because i had to wait for about an hour for my service, since she was running late. Over than that the overall experience was very positive. I recently took advantage of the Living Social deal at this salon for a haircut, blowout and full foils. I's read so many great reviews of this salon before purchasing!! I walked in and Maria was my stylist. Do Not Let This Woman Near Your Hair!!!!!!! After a length discussion about just coming up a little in the length (was just past the shoulders) and layering up just the ends and maybe adding bangs and a VERY lengthy discussion about the color to foil in (i wanted VERY subtle just one shade off of my natural color to create dimension only) I was SHOCKED at the end when my hair looked NOTHING like we discussed!! The color was the POLAR opposite of what we discussed (actually it was the exact color i told her emphatically that i did NOT want!!) and the length was above my ear lobes with bangs that couldn't have been more than an inch long. 90% of the cut involved her just reaching in one- handedly and cutting random chunks that didn't seem to fit in to her "vision". I was so in shock that I didn't say a word about it. I just tried not to cry until I got into the car. I also did not want to drive all the way back out there to have it fixed. I was too traumatized by them! I went to a Hair Cuttery the next day. What a WONDERFUL experience!! They ALL could not believe the difference in what I asked for and what I got. and once Jessica, the stylist, had her fingers in my hair, she called her manager over to show her the chunks that had been cut and the horrible color spots where there was actually chunks of white hair because the color had been stripped! Jessica thankfully fixed the color but unfortunately I have to live with this horrible cut until it grows out a little bit. I should've personally asked for Chelsea or Andrea at Salon 77 as I'd seen their names and work praised many times in many reviews. My warning to you is DO NOT book an appointment with MARIA! VESSY is the most unprofessional hair dresser I have ever encountered. When she was confronted of the error she did on my hair, she denied it saying she knows what she was doing. All I wanted was for my hair to be fixed, and she could not accept the error in the first place. I felt uncomfortable, and disrespected as a client. I continuously asked her to stop raising her voice at me but she continued to get in my face. I would of never expected such a reaction from such a high end salon. read more

My mother has been a client here for a few years now and had been telling me to please go see them. When I finally did I was very pleased w/ the cut and the color. Worst experience- I asked for balayage. I have dark hair, instead of using higher concentration of peroxide/developer, my hair dresser bleached chunks of hair and called it "color", when I asked her why is it it blue then she confessed it's bleach. Then she left me and started doing a haircut for other client. She waited until that was done to wash my hair. At this point,'y hair is just too light as it was bleached for 30 min. Then she said don't worry I will put a toner when I asked for permanent color. When I confirmed that toner will fade away in couple washes she agreed to put color. I had asked her to avoid the top of my head and that's where she bleached the most. Now she was in a rush and put color on "all" my hair and said only bleached hair will take up the color as my hair is dark. She used concentrated peroxide, top of the head got all the color. She didn't even bother to dry my hair when she made me pay her for blowdrying. She charged me for toner as well when I said no to it. At this point, i dont know if she put some toner which will wash away or if it's permanent color. I have seen her work and believed she would do a great job. She messed up this time, big time and she was not apologetic at all. It's just irresponsible behavior. Never going to this place again read more

This place just opened a few months ago. I have been in a couple times for a men's haircut. In the past I have had my hair cut every where from the cheap places like the hair cuttery to expensive salons where a men's cuts is $35. I am really impressed with Salon 77. A men's cut is only $16. I have had two hair cuts there now and each time it came out perfect and my hair is not easy to cut, because I have several colic's. The whole experience is similar to the experience that you would get at an expensive salon, but it is far less expensive. It is similar because the quality of the hair cut and the attention they give to getting every detail right. They also give you your hair a good shampooing (scalp massage) like the nice spas do. Their location itself is small and simple and nice inside. Not terribly busy yet because they just opened this spring. I have no idea how they do with a woman's cut, but if there are any guys reading this (or a woman with a boyfriend or husband) then I would recommend giving them a try. Nichole cut my hair each time and did a great job, my hair came out exactly as I wanted. read more
