She asked me a lot of questions and took the time to look closely at my hair before she started. Everyone at the salon was extremely kind. The salon is clean and beautiful. It is very clear that everyone there is knowledgable and professional. That being said, I really anticipated giving this salon an excellent review. I brought a picture of the color I was hoping to achieve. Unfortunately, after nearly four hours, my hair was no where near what I was hoping it would be. When I saw a friend later that evening she said, "I thought you were going to get your hair done today?" I'm not necessarily unhappy with the color, but it looks VERY similar to what I came into the salon with. My visit was also a lot more expensive than I anticipated. According the salon's website, the full cost of a haircut is $50 and the full cost of a full foil is $110. However, when they rung me up the total came to $225. I asked for one inch to be trimmed off and received a balayage. I understand that a balayage is not the same as foil highlights, but I wish I had been advised that this service would be a different price. I was expecting the total to be around $160 and only brought enough cash to leave a tip for that amount. I didn't question the price when I was checking out because my stylist was near the front desk, and I did not want her to think that I wasn't appreciative of her time and effort. She really did spend a lot of time with me and was very thorough, but my hair doesn't look much different. I think the toner made the most difference. In February, I visited a five-star rated salon in Nashua, NH. I received the same services, a cut and balayage for $140. I decided to try out this salon because there were so many great reviews online, and I thought that the prices seemed very fair, so I was a bit blindsided by the final price. Lastly, some of the bleach must have gotten on the chair because the shirt I wore to the salon has several spots of bleach on it. I had bought the shirt the day before my appointment, so I was pretty bummed. Overall, I can see why people like this salon. I wish I had a better experience because I really liked it here.

Straight,…read moreblunt cut, originally chin level when I lopped off a ponytail for one of those donation sites, it had grown out to my shoulders and because my hair has a lot of natural body and some wave and curl to it, I was getting a very triangular shape. I had no idea what to do with it, other than grow it out again, but I was tired of that cycle, too, since I've done it several times in the past decade. It's also going pretty grey in spots and I'm not sure another 'tail would work for those wig organizations because of that. I needed someone to just make a decision about my hair and cut it. I didn't care what the results were, what the style was, anything at all. I just needed something different. My husband half-jokingly suggested I take his clippers, buy some gel and go for the Annie Lennox look and I was actually OK with that. Christina took on the challenge. She chose a layered look that is both blowdryer and product-optional (YAY!). It's fabulous, super easy to take care of and suits me well! Almost every salon was closed or would charge me an arm and leg to come to the hotel. The situation was a nail biter until I called Salon West and found out that they were open! Although it is unnerving to go to a salon we had never used for the big day, we felt confident with the reviews online. I had fairly good expectations - but could not shake that shadow of doubt. We showed up for a trial - and was immediately put at ease. The salon has a very small, cozy and welcoming feel with big open windows, two stations for cutting, and a big red wall with the 2 additional sinks against it. I was happy with my trial, but after wearing it for the day I started noticing things that I wanted to change about it. Barbara was a joy, taking all of concerns, addressing them, and changing my updo style on the day of the wedding. My hair ended up looking more amazing than I had ever imagined! I absolutely loved it! In 6 hours, Barbra transformed the hair of 6 ladies. Each girl had a different style, and Barbra did such an amazing job executing our hair styles while maintaining our individual personalities! All of our hair lasted through the night. (We are in our mid-twenties and danced the night away with no worries!!) Barbra was so great and allowed us to basically take over the space for the day! We were doing our nails, munching on lunch, doing our make-up and hanging out. She was so easy to get along with - and was really fun to be around on the special day! Barbra, we'll never forget you! Kaz is truly an artist and cares deeply about his work and his clients. I'm so lucky to have found Rivkah's Salon, this stylist/colorist/artist, and that I can also call him my friend. It was never clear what the cost was for each service. Prices would change from visit to visit for the exact same services. Sometimes higher sometimes lower but the overall trajectory was up. I've lived in other areas and am aware of different price markets. But this was overpriced for Westborough, MA. There were other issues as well but too long to list here. My last bill was shockingly high. I paid it. But I was embarrassed that I paid that much for color touch up, highlights and a haircut. I felt that I was being taken advantage of. I'm not confrontational. But what's the saying you can't be taken advantage of without your own consent. Never went back.
