I moved to NH from Los Angeles last fall and decided to take a chance in this place on account of the good reviews and I'm so glad I did! I got an AMAZING cut and full color with balayage highlights from Alexa (and have since been back for another cut and color touch up). She is young, but don't let that deceive you - she is extremely talented and caring. I literally picked her off the website because I liked her name and hair color and she turned out to be a gem! Needing an updated look for the summer, and a great style for a big event, I checked out reviews on Yelp for a local, highly rated salon and booked an appointment at Salon Bogar. The receptionist who took my call was great and we discussed some time limitations that I had. She assured me there would be plenty of time for me to get highlights, a cut, and style. I was a little nervous about trying someplace new, as I am relatively new to the area and have had a couple of not so great experiences in other local salons. I did my homework and checked out the website...every stylist had credentials that were impressive, and I liked how each of their specialties were listed. The pricing was a little higher than what I am used to, but that being said, I also believe "you get what you pay for", and for my hair, I am willing to invest. My first impression was that it was a very classy and chic place, very welcoming. The staff greeted me promptly and asked if they could get me a drink. The waiting area was comfortable and they had lots of cool jewelry and accessories to look at. I sat and watched the owner (I knew he was the owner from viewing the website) style a woman's hair. It looked gorgeous, and I felt like if his work was any indication of the quality of the style, I had made the right choice! I waited about 20 minutes before I started getting nervous...time was of the essence, and I knew there was a 15 minute consult before the actual process was even started. I felt uncomfortable, but I finally had to ask how much longer the stylist would be. I was informed that she was running late, but at this point I could see someone else. I agreed, and thought that would speed things up. The salon manager, Ellen, came over and chatted with me, apologized for the delay, and said the original person I was booked with would only be 7 more minutes. I was a little confused because I thought I was switching. I was also told that she may not have time to blow dry or style my hair due to the time constraints that were now an issue due to her running behind. I had the consult, and it went okay. I indicated that I wanted a natural, low maintenance color. She chose the colors for me, and I deferred to her expertise. She was nice enough, and got to work putting the color on right away. She then told me she was putting glaze on my hair to enhance the color. She said this as she was shampooing and conditioning, so I assumed it was part of the routine coloring. Had I known it was optional and it was going to be additional charge in the end, I may have declined - more on this later. The wash was the best part, I got an amazing scalp massage! This alone would have gotten 5 stars! Initially, I thought I liked the color, but when I got outside and looked at it in the natural light, I was not happy with it at all. It came out very streaky/chunky and much brassier-looking than I wanted. I have no doubt it will be super apparent when it starts growing out, which is exactly what I wanted to avoid. I felt like the styling was rushed, due to the delayed start. Truthfully, when I walked out, I was very disappointed because my hair didn't look much different than how I style it myself and I was looking for something different - that was the whole point. Not only was I unhappy with my experience, I was informed upon checkout that the glaze was an additional $40.00, and that was completely unexpected. I feel like I paid an extraordinary amount of money for an experience with undesired results. It should have been fun and relaxing. Again, I have no issue paying generously when it's deserved and I walk out feeling great about the look, but in this instance, I did not. I doubt I would go back again based on that experience. **I called the salon, and they attempted to fix the issue and had me come back and see someone else, who toned down the color a bit, but the end result was still not my desired look. They did refund me for the color, so I appreciate them "making it right." I still would not go back. read more

I have been going to Salon Bogar for the past 10 years and I love it! I even choose to drive from Boston back to New Hampshire because I love them that much! Every stylist that I have seen (Charlie and Krystle) has taken time to get to know me and what I like or do not like. I walked into this salon to get an eye brow wax, which takes all of 10 minutes, and they refused me as a client because I had a sleeping infant with me in a car seat. Just beware if you are a mother you're not allowed to bring children or they won't service you. read more

The benches for processing time are so much more comfortable than the old ones. The staff is always so nice and the only unfortunate things is they keep bringing in new merchandise that is so hard to resist. I Enjoyed my haircut. My stylist was very nice. I chopped a good amount of my hair and she literally took the scissors a cut a line straight across to get rid of all of the length and then from there she worked on the style which is fine but she charged me extra because I had long hair. but she chopped it so not like she had extra work to do to it? I like my haircut straight not when its curly which my hair is naturally curly. Again I had a great stylist. but it was very expensive for a haircut.. read more

First of all I'd like to start off saying that people should head the advice in the negative reviews on here as a warning, I'm sure those who have good experiences have simple processes done but this is not a place to go for anything more then a quick touch up. In my 20 years of having my hair professionally done, I have NEVER had such a terrible disastrous experience anywhere and then was treated so poorly because I spoke up about it. I spent almost 5 hours in the chair, asking for strawberry blonde lowlights, which I have had done before with heavy foiled lowlights on top fading the color down the hair shaft. My hair is around a level 10 blonde, lightened and bleached- which I told the stylist. I was expecting her to put a level 8 golden copper into my hair in foils for lowlights. She told me she was going to bring some color down my roots and then blend the lowlights into my hair. I took her advice, not knowing what disaster awaited. After doing a clarifying treatment she started the process of putting color onto my roots and I expressed concern when it turned a very dark brown, which looked black against my very blonde hair. She told me not to worry it was just oxidizing. After washing the color out I literally had a mass of 3 inch ashy dark brown roots that immediately stopped and went to blonde, it looked terrible but she reassured me that she was going to highlight and lowlight my hair and blend it in. It was not even close to the color I had shown her. She proceeded to come back with a "balayage" set up which I had never asked for and she didn't tell me about or make me aware of the price. After washing it out and blowdrying I was mortified..not only did it do nothing to "blend"anything but she had dropped random blotches of the dark brown hair dye down into random spots all over my head! It looked like my 3 year old niece had a go at my hair. I pointed out all the splotches and the obvious dark line of demarktation and she said "well the color will fade" "and yeah I see it bled a little bit"..I was so stunned at how bad my hair looked that I checked out as quickly as I could and told her I expected her to fix it..she played it down like it wasn't a big deal and proceeded to charge me $280!! Not wanting to cause a scene I paid the bill and left crying all the way home, I called the manager right away and she told me she'd have me come in the next day and have the "artistic directer" fix my hair. I posted the pictures of my hair before and after for family and friends to see and everyone was shocked at how bad it was and that I was even made to pay anything let alone being robbed in the process. I was up all night with anxiety and tears about this. The next day the artistic director I met with was very condescending right off the bat and was defending the other stylist. She refused to use Olaplex on my now very damaged hair and couldn't give me a clear reason why. After processing my hair another 2 times it still was not what I had asked for and now I just have copper roots. The worst part was she finished the cut of my hair I was supposed to have done the day before and they tried to charge me more money on top of the nearly $300 I paid for them to RUIN my hair! The front counter girl argued with me and told me I had to pay more, I told them I actually wanted a partial refund for what I had been put through, the damage they caused to my already compromised hair and how I got nothing like what I asked for, had to cancel plans to come back in and they had the audacity to ask for MORE money!? Any professional customer service based company would have immediately refunded me something in this situation without me even asking. I left without any refund and I don't expect I will get one. I have never ever experienced such unprofessional money hungry crooks in my life. I will never ever go back to this place, and neither will anyone I know. read more

I have been to Salon Bogar before in the past and have always had an excellent experience. I have had my hair done by Janet and Charlie. Both of them did an excellent job and I always walked out of the salon completely satisfied with their work! Ever since moving to Boston a year ago, I have had many unsatisfactory haircuts and colors, while dishing out money not worth for what I received for service. Since I was in the area for Memorial Day weekend, I decided to go back to Salon Bogar. Once I entered the salon, I felt great to be back. The salon is bright, clean, has a gorgeous modern environment, and the staff is extremely energetic and welcoming with all smiles. This time, I got a hair cut and balayage color with Ally. My goodness, she is great! She really cares about listening to your needs and works with you to achieve the look you want, as well as a look that compliments your complexion. She is all smiles, confident in her work, and is very accommodating (asking me if I'd like tea/water/coffee and gave me magazines to keep me occupied!). For the price I paid, it was completely worth it. I would have most likely paid double for such services somewhere else! Also, I received an eyebrow wax with Jennifer. I have never met someone so vibrant while doing my eyebrows! She is extremely talented with her work, makes sure she is careful to grab every stray hair, and truly shows enthusiasm performing services for her clients. After waxing my brows, I did not find myself going home and tweezing missed stray hairs like I usually do. I also got my arch back! I will definitely be going back to her again and again when it's time to tame the quickly growing hair. :) Again and again, 5 stars for this place! I have been coming to this salon for several years. It is top notch. I always receive great service and am pleased with the results. My only critique is that prices have increased over the years- either an overall increase, or my stylist receiving a promotion. That is fine and to be expected. However, I have never been told in advance. You are given a reminder call about the appointment, you check in with reception at the appointment, and then your stylist greets you. Someone needs to inform you of the price increase. It is just rude for no one to say anything! It is not a hipuge amount, but that is not the point. And occasionally I bring just enough cash to cover the service and tip. I hope the owner can improve this issue. read more

I finally decided to brave a new stylist after moving from California, and I couldn't be happier that I did. They fit me in on a busy schedule and my idea of what I wanted done was easily understood and the quality of workmanship was top-noch. This place is the best salon in NH! The talent here is amazing and everyone is so friendly. The decor is gorgeous and modern. I feel like I am in a salon in NYC. I go to Jess and she is AWESOME! Had my brows waxed by Domonique and it was painless! They use a wax that hardens so it can be peeled off vs. the usual hot wax with strips! Pricing was that bad either. I have a coloring appointment here coming up so we'll see how well they do balayage. Definitely a place to go if you need your brows taken care of! read more

This salon was recommended to me by a good friend and longtime loyal customer and her mom. I finally made an appt on line (which is awesome and super easy) and went in last night for a haircut with Carrie. Rose washed my hair, Carrie cut it, and Lindsey did my eye brow wax for me. They were all super nice and attentive. The hair wash was so relaxing the massage your scalp. Love it The waxing room is great as well they play soft relaxing music you get to lay on a temperpedic type of bed. Carrie was great very informative, nice, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable in hair and products. She used a beach spray on me before I left and it smelled wonderful. The front office staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Lastly I love the fact that you can get cash back for tips and tip everyone individually. read more

Well, Today was my first time visiting Bogar Salon in Londonderry, New Hampshire! I was a walk in and because they appeared to be so busy, I was very surprised that they took me right away. I left Westchester County hair salons in New York for New Hampshire 3 years ago and was almost going to give up on ever, finding someone to do my naturally curly blonde hair the way I like it in this state! :( Well, my stylist was Tyrus and, to my pleasant surprise........ he was amazing!!!!! I have been a regular customer for about 8 years and I love Salon Bogar! The staff are very friendly. We have gotten to know each other personally. My stylist, Tracy, is terrific! She knows exactly what will look good on me and I always leave feeling and looking great! The visits are very relaxing and I hate when it is time to leave. I love sitting with a cup of coffee and a biscotti while my color is in. I also have my brows waxed with Jennifer and they look so neat and nicely shaped. The boutique has unique jewelry, scarves and other gift items. I look so forward to my every four weeks visit. My young adult son and daughter have also been regular customers for years. I initially found Salon Bogar through all the positive Yelp reviews and decided to try it as an alternative to the Newbury Salons I often frequent in Boston. I was so pleasantly surprised! The Salon is beautiful, the staff are great, and they have a huge array of products that they use during styling (They have complete lines from Oribe!!!). I went in as a new customer for a basic haircut with Ally and was so happy with the results. Her assistant, maybe the Salon assistant, Lindsey was so nice and welcoming. I've honestly never had a better salon experience and I can't express enough how professional and friendly both Ally and Lindsey were. Ally gave me exactly what I asked for and she also gave me tips for maintenance and styling. The only regret I have is forgetting the 20 dollars off special for new customers. I remembered when I was down the street but didn't have time to go back. The site specifies that new customers can receive 20 dollars off their first service and if I had gotten it I most definitely would have invested in one of the high end products they used during my service. I have been going to Salon Bogar for years now. My hair is the healthiest it has ever been. Salon Bogar used the state-of-the art tools and the best hair products. I have very curly hair and Kerri cuts my hair and just used a blow dryer and brush and my hair comes out smooth, silky, shiney and healthy. I have also gone to Alexa and had a couple of keratin treatments there between Kerri and Alexa that are fantastic. I think all the hairdresser there are great. Salon Bogar only hires the best hairdressers. I love them and continue to go back again and again. read more

After over 15 years and many thousands of dollars of being a loyal customer, I was cast aside for arriving 5 minutes late to a 15 minute appointment (apparently this was the second time in 15 years that I was 5 minutes late). Unfortunately, there was traffic. I guess they don't share my sense of loyalty. I can't say enough about the talent at Salon Bogar, but their management is questionable at best. Business 101 would suggest it is not sound business practice to take $10 at the risk of losing many thousands. I work hard for my money and from here on I choose to take my business somewhere where it will be valued. read more
