A second review for Mariana. She's been my stylist now for a couple years. I sometimes like to trim my own bangs in between cuts. This time, I slaughtered them, in attempt to create a new shape. I came to Mariana wearing a baseball hat (Go Padres!) and we laughed. I really messed up my hair, cut some integral pieces. She saw what I was going for, and gave me the cutest cut that opened up my face and blended my thick hair into manageable layers. I thought it time to put an update. I just had my hair chopped off again, I've invested a large amount of money in product and hair cuts every few weeks to make my hair somewhat presentable. At this point my biggest concern is that I am pretty confident I have scalp damage as this one section on the right side of my head continues to grow out damaged. Look at the response I received and judge for yourself. I wonder how many other customers had bad experiences but settled for a refund to remove their reviews. Although time has passed, the salon has not been held accountable still profiting off of my service while I'm left dealing with it still one year later. I've lived in CA for 12 years and have explained explicitly to numerous hairstylists how to cut my hair. Carli seemed to know what I wanted before I even finished explaining. My hair looked great right after she was finished. With other stylists, it maybe looked better after a couple weeks. I am really grateful that I have found her and this salon. read more

I left extremely unhappy and feeling gaslit. I asked for an above the shoulder bob, but pointed and showed where I wanted my hair to fall. The stylist, Carli, requested to do a dry cut and then wash it and clean up the ends after. She started in the back of my head and cut my hair extremely short. She then went around and cut the rest. The hair was already shorter than I originally wanted and so I said, prior to the wash and blow dry, that I didn't want to take any more length off. After washing it, she "cleaned up" the ends by taking off another inch. My right side was already up to my chin and the left side was significantly lower. She took to the left side to match the right. Now I have chin length chair and in some areas, it doesn't even hit my chin. It was very obvious that that was not what I wanted, but Carli kept saying how well it turned out and was making it seem like I got exactly what I asked for. My hair is still uneven, and so short in places that is doesn't reach past my chin. It is 2-3 inches shorter than I wanted and very uneven. I cried. Carli knew she had messed up but took the route of gaslighting me into thinking it was exactly what I wanted. I've been to this salon multiple times and received the perfect haircut from other stylists, this was my first time with the owner, Carli. I will never go back and strongly recommend other people do not go there as well. It felt rushed and careless. read more

Made an appointment for a blow dry and style before an event I have. The day prior they texted to confirm my time. I asked if they could push my appt from 4:15 to 4:30 just in case I was running late as I was coming from work. They said no because the stylist's shift ended at 5. Less than 30 minutes before my appointment the salon texted me to ask if I could move my appointment back 45 minutes, from 4:15 to 5:00, because the stylist was running late, after they couldn't accommodate my request the day prior. I had to say no because I wouldn't have enough time to get ready for my event afterwards. She then asked if I could come in with pre-washed hair so my stylist would just have to dry and style it. As I was coming straight from work, which I had told them the day before, I obviously could not do this either. So I told them if they wouldn't be able to fit me in so I could be finished by 5pm to just cancel the appointment. She said she would put in my notes that I would get a $10 credit for my next appointment. As if I will make another appointment with them. If this was a regular haircut it would be fine but when someone schedules a blow dry and style appointment that's usually because they have a special occasion? So I'm left with no time to find another appointment somewhere else and I didn't account for the time it would take me to do my own hair since I planned on getting it done. On top of that, they weren't able to accommodate my ask to push the appointment time but somehow the stylist can extend his shift if he wants to. I'm looking for a new regular salon/stylist too and this one is crossed off my list. read more

Stylist, Jamie Hann executed a miracle! After decades of using my long hair as a "security blanket", Jamie built up my confidence to cut more than 12 inches off. My hair was in desperate need of a cut after almost 2 years of not cutting it because I didn't trust anyone to do it. She listened to exactly what I wanted and even took the time to cut my hair in stages so I could ease into my decision. She has a friendly (not pushy) disposition and is easy to talk to. I highly recommend Jamie and look forward to getting some color done in the near future. My experience sitting in Jamie's chair was comfortable, freeing, and a complete confidence booster. I am so happy I found this Salon, and especially Corrin. I moved here from OC and have been looking for a new hair stylist and won't be looking any further. The salon is awesome, the owner is sweet and accommodating and Corrin is a literal artist. She is so knowledgeable about colors and how to achieve your look while maiming the health of your hair. I cam in wanting my dark hair to be dyed with a red tint and a Corrin spent so much time figuring out how to achieve that look with my already dark hair, and even brought in her own personal color from home since it wasn't at the salon already. Rude. Was told I had a "shit ton of frizzy hair" so my blowout would cost more (more than what is advertised on their website$55) after waiting 30min. No thanks. Saved myself the money, bought a nice round brush and did the blowout myself. It's a shame, I live close by and totally would've come often if it had been a good experience.. Now, I posted a review on the page about this and that it was disappointing and would have just let it go. However, The salon owner's response (and continued unprofessional DMs) shows just how rude the experience continues to be. The owner couldn't just accept the feedback professionally. I keep getting DMs. The issue isn't the cost, which she keeps saying I should have stayed home if I couldn't afford....it's really about how unprofessional the entire interaction has been with this salon and it's owner. read more

My hairstylist was Vida and she did a fantastic job giving me a great haircut and she listened to my concerns and explained to me what length my haircut should be to give it volume and movement. She was not judgemental about how rarely I get a professional haircut done. The parking was pretty easy to find and figure out unlike a lot of places in San Diego. I also felt the price was great for the haircut and must less than where I've gone elsewhere in SD. I would definitely come again. read more

I had a haircut and blowout from Cristy and WOW is an understatement. She listened to me and gave me the haircut I've been dreaming of- my layers are so perfect and it makes my hair look so cute. I went a little crazy in March 2020 when the pandemic started and cut my own bangs and absolutely destroyed them and she fixed them. I couldn't be more thankful! Also my blowout, such a great blowout! She took the time to really cleanse my hair and then flat iron each section so meticulously so that I could have an awesome and long lasting blowout. I've lived in SD for 6 years and gone to various salons, one was ok but the price was rising astronomically everytime I went (think $200 with tip for a basic haircut). And then I found this place. Will never go anywhere else. Alex did an absolutely wonderful job, have already received compliments. She was so nice, price is so reasonable for the service, and parking wasn't a problem. So I needed to find another salon that could do not only cut and color but also a Brazilian Blowout. I searched on line and found Salon Del Rey in PB. I was so impressed with the reviews and multiple hairdressers were mentioned as being just superb. I went yesterday and Jamie took care of me. Her communication skills, care and knowledge were superior. She is super skilled and took time to identify what I wanted while also advising me in the kindest way what I should think about. I got a great cut and color and will be going back for the Brazilian. I would also say that she was interesting to talk to. Don't worry or hesitate if you need a new person. Don't use carli! I left the salon crying as she made rude comments to me the entire time and I had a wedding to go to. I showed her what I wanted and she said she could do it. I even called beforehand saying I have very curly hair and they assured me I would be fine. Halfway through she asked me to leave because she did not want to be "sued" after she aggressively pulled my hair and I reassured her I was fine. She ended up stopping the blow dry half way through and skipping to the flat iron which caused frizzy frizzy hair and nonexistent curls. I thanked her, paid, left, cried, and redid my hair at home. I've never had such a BAD experience. I noticed another similar review for Carli regarding people with curly hair. She had an attitude and I was never more relieved to leave a salon. read more
