However, I stand by my reviews, as I keep them factual, not personal, although, obviously, my experiences factor into ratings. My experience with your staff was fine. I have nothing notable to say about anyone I had interactions with, as far as the people. So, my baseline is not colored by poor experiences with the staff or anything like that, and my review is based on features of the salon itself. I think carpeting is a bad idea in a tanning salon where people are walking around barefoot after many, many others are quickly putting on lotion (you can find lotion streaks in the weirdest places in all tanning salons; I've had to wipe up my own accidental lotion spatters on the floor many times in my tanning life), and people are wearing dirty, wet winter boots on a floor that can't be mopped. If others are not bothered by that-- great! I point it out simply because it is an oddity from my experience tanning at many salons in many states. My mentioning it won't deter people who don't care about that. My opinion of carpet in a tanning salon doesn't change someone else's opinion of carpet in a tanning salon. I understand your level one membership starts at about the same price as other salons, but if the salon doesn't have the same experience you'd get at another salon, the cost is not equal. The same trash sits in rooms for over a week (I know that because I will see the same packet of lotion I used there for multiple visits, and I don't tan that often). There were many times when I went in where, despite being slow and the women up front chatting, i'd have to wait for them to go clean the bed I requested. I've tanned at least once where there has been residual tingle in the bed, and I get the tingle itch and redness on my back from someone else's lotion. These things happen, and they're not that big of a deal as standalone events (clearly, since I didn't mention any of them in my initial review), but when up against competing salons that are constantly mopping floors, and beds are cleaned thoroughly as soon as the customer leaves, and trashes are emptied daily, and monthly EFT memberships include red light therapy, and so on, all these things factor into value and experience. Ratings don't occur in a vacuum, they come via comparison. I mentioned the music selection as just a random bit of information, not as part of my rating, which I mentioned. You are well aware that the door of the stand up cannot be open and allow the customer to get into or out of the room. It is disingenuous to respond as if you don't know what I'm talking about. You must maneuver one door in order to open or close the other. Again, it's just an oddity that i noticed-- a fact; information. I posted this because I depend a lot on reviews when looking for places to do business, and frankly, I appreciate anything that gives me an idea of what to expect with a place so I can either put them at the top of my list, or cross them off. I am not being overly critical, and this is not meant to be offensive to you as the owner. I am simply putting the same information out there that I look for when trying to find new places to spend my money. I am sorry that you find my review disappointing. You seem confident that I am the only customer with this perspective, and if that is true, then this whole thing is neither here nor there. You have the advantage of being the only tanning salon in the immediate vicinity, and the advantage of being attached to a gym. The customers who like it (or its convenience) will stay, and for those for whom it isn't a good fit, such as myself, won't. I decided the drive to Tanlines is a better deal for me, and so I went back since my original review. Win/win.

I have been to this Zip tan before, I know that there are larger rooms available, she put me in the smallest room and the smallest stand up. I couldn't move, I'm a larger woman and in that instant I felt so disgusting and fat shamed. When I walked out she was laughing at my clear discomfort .To the young lady behind the counter, I hope no one ever makes you feel how you just made me feel. I understand that this isn't 15 or 20 years ago and we aren't going to get a 25 or $30 tanning package however it blew my mind when one of those lower cost options was still over $100 lotion is now up to $70 and I'm actually mind blown the tanning salons still exist in this economy. Livonia is not the demographic to have an extra couple hundred dollars each month for tanning.?! what about in the summertime when everyone is outside anyway? I told her I wanted a single session or maybe a package but they don't have anything less than 10 visits. I thought I could buy maybe five visits or something, but they don't have that option. The beds all seemed very high-quality and everything was very clean unfortunately even though I make well above minimum wage, I don't think this is even anywhere near "in my budget" i'm flabbergasted and wondering what people do for work that they are able to afford such a thing like this ‍ also know that TJ Maxx is closed I feel like they would get so much less foot traffic they also had multiple people working which I can't fathom that they can warrant that I would give a 3.5 if I could I may be back next winter earlier in the season. I absolutely did not use any lotion, and will not tan there again because I had no way of proving I didn't and was being accused. This happened in front of other customers. One of the owners even referred to me and others as "monsters," and I have the messages from their own staff to prove it, along with screenshots of their employees gossiping about customers. They constantly mess up their own work, and when their system glitches, they get rude and aggressive like it's your fault. Their prices are ridiculously high compared to other tanning salons, and the experience definitely doesn't match the cost. They try to make the place seem welcoming, but it's all fake. Multiple employees have overheard the way they talk about customers as soon as they leave. To top it all off, many of the beds aren't even cleaned properly (you can see the sweat of others on the lay downs and on that stand up it's all slippery) wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I gave it a try for a month, thinking the tanning beds might be a higher quality than the ones at the gym, but I honestly didn't see a difference in that regard. Also, I hate to say it, but the facility itself is not very clean. Maybe they clean the beds, but they may not have a vacuum, based on the amount of gunk in the carpet. And if you need to use the restroom while you're there, it's basically the employee restroom, filled with supplies and extra bulbs, just not very welcoming for a customer. Even if you're not planning on working out at all, I definitely would recommend looking at gyms in the area for your tanning needs.

I did as I've always done follow the guide and prepped as you should and never had an issue like this before. Girl working desk wasn't super confident in her knowledge or setting it up but was friendly and trying so not sure if it was done correctly but glad this was only $10 for first time going there. I also questioned the hydration spray not being at the end, she said it was built in which where I go it's done at the end. Even family today said they can't at all tell I had it done. I would not go again to this chain and really bummed since I leave for a birthday trip tomorrow and wanted a nice glow.
