I brought three pictures and clearly explained that I wanted blonde hair with contrast and dimension. I was told this could be achieved. Unfortunately, the finished color was completely different from the photos. My hair was left an ashy, mousy brown with very little dimension, and the blonde money piece I requested in the front was gone. I was also charged an additional $50 for toner, which was not explained to me beforehand. I was very disappointed with the result and will need to have my hair corrected elsewhere. Based on this experience, I would not return to Trisha.

Called Wheeler Davis and spoke to the owner. Explained my needs, including a color correction and wanted a fabulous longterm stylist to work with as I was modeling. Discovered he booked me with the 'walk in stylist" so I only booked a consult. During my consult I realized the stylist knew her stuff and wondered why the salon wasn't allowing her to build a client base. Well I discovered why when a few months later over half the staff walked out due to poor working conditions, unhappy clients and along with a dose of snooty vibe. I followed the stylist who did my color correction and have been with her ever since. Heard Lo is interested in the Who's Who and famous people in the surfing world which I understand from a marketing standpoint. In my message, I specifically shared that I was looking for a queer/trans-friendly salon. I also explained that I have been a loyal client who has previously flown out of state to see my longtime stylist, but I was hoping to find someone local. I never received a response to my message, so I called. The person that answer confirmed the owner had received message and told me a person outside their salon would be a "better fit." I reached out to that person as well and received no response. Message received. The whole experience was disappointing and honestly painful. Looking for a new stylist as a queer/trans person already comes with a lot of anxiety around whether a space will actually be safe and welcoming. Sadly, this interactions let me know that my concerns were real. I can't speak to their intentions, but I can speak to the impact: I did not feel welcomed, wanted, or safe as a prospective LGBTQ client. I wish businesses could be more direct about who they aren't prepared to serve, because being quietly redirected elsewhere after explicitly asking for a queer/trans-friendly space feels awful.

I had highlights done by Lauren at Kate Lane Salon this past Saturday. Before the service, I was…read morevery clear about what I wanted: very natural, sun-kissed, barely-there highlights with soft blending. I specifically told her I did not want anything stripey, chunky, or with any yellow/gold/brassy tones. Unfortunately, the result was the complete opposite of what we discussed. The highlights came out noticeably chunky and stripey, with harsh lines, poor blending, and a distinct brassy yellow tone that makes my hair look damaged and unnatural. I've never had a salon service turn out this poorly before. Lauren herself was kind and professional during the appointment, and I believe she tried her best. However, the final result does not match what was agreed upon, and it has left my previously healthy virgin hair looking compromised. I reached out to Kate Lane management the next business day with photos from multiple angles showing the issues (patchy application, thick streaks, harsh lines, and brassy color). I politely explained that I was too upset to return for a correction and requested a full refund for the highlighting service. They have refused to issue any refund. I'm extremely disappointed in both the quality of the work and the salon's unwillingness to stand behind their service when it clearly did not meet the client's explicit instructions. This experience has cost me time, money, and confidence. I would have still returned to the salon for regular haircuts and to purchase hair products if management had handled this situation differently. I have had my haircut here many times and it was always a nice experience. Unfortunately, I cannot even recommend them for that anymore. Customer service is everything and this situation was not handled fairly or appropriately. I would not recommend Kate Lane Salon for color services, especially highlights. Proceed with caution -- or better yet, go somewhere else.

My hair is the longest and healthiest it has ever been, and that is absolutely because of George's skill, product guidance, and the way he approaches hair with both artistry and science. He's an educator at heart and is always up to date on the latest techniques, trends, products, and color science. He somehow manages to create the perfect blonde for my complexion every single time -- bright and dimensional without sacrificing the health of my hair. And his haircuts deserve their own mention because I genuinely do not understand how he does it: I leave with freshly cut hair that somehow looks LONGER. Explain that one. He's also an educator for EasyPro Hair Extensions, so if you've been dreaming about longer or fuller hair, you're in very capable hands. I personally haven't needed extensions, but I would trust George completely if I ever decided to go that route. Another thing I really appreciate: his timing is precise. Appointments are efficient without ever feeling rushed, which is a rare and beautiful thing. If you want someone who understands blonde, understands hair health, stays on top of his craft, and will actually teach you how to take care of your hair between appointments, book with George.
