I've gone to Alison Love for many years. She was the first person to cut my obnoxiously thick hair in a way that balanced volume, layers and a good cut - so it always looked fantastic. Not only that, but she colors beautifully, she was meticulous, and would highlight my hair so it looked natural - even when it was growing out. Alison did my hair for my wedding, as well as the hair for my sisters. If I do say so myself, she did an amazing job and I got compliments throughout the night. I would continue to go to her, but since I moved to Huntington Beach, I rarely have the luxury of driving 1 1/2 hours each way to see her in Claremont. Jamie has been doing my hair for what is now years, and I wouldn't trust anyone else. I had bounced around from stylist to stylist, salon to salon because I am a color snob, and was never happy. But then I met Jamie. She is AMAZING with color. She is friendly, listens and does exactly what you ask. I walk out with shiny, bouncy happy hair. The salon is modern and everyone is very nice. The shampoo chairs recline and massage. They carry great product lines as well, but don't push them on you. I'd recently been sheared and fleeced so I decided to do some due diligence before my next hair cutting excursion. I found my way up the stairs at Salon Luxe to the cutting loft - thankfully my cutter was still with a customer and so i had a chance to sit and relax first. A very nice beverage helped. I instantly felt comfortable with my new cutter Rebecca, she was calm and not seeming to be rushed. She took a look at my butcher job and had a little chuckle and asked why i thought the previous cutter had left my hair so uneven - it was more than 3/4 of an inch longer on one side than the other. I said that perhaps she had not wanted me to come back but i didn't really know as the same cutter had done an okay job the previous time. Anyway, though it was late in the day Rebecca took the time to cut my hair adroitly, as though she were an artist doing a portrait, which, in a way, she is. I'd forgotten how self-conscious it can make you be when you get a hacked up hair cut. I have to admit to myself that my appearance does matter to me after all, even if nobody else really cares one way or the other. read more

STOP! Before you consider getting your hair at this salon, read about my experience. Kacie (part-owner of salon) use to do my hair years ago and was told she was one of the salon owners. Excited to get an A-line hair cut and color, I showed up to my appointment on a Friday at 6:00 PM. My hair WAS long dark and HEALTHY. I can post pictures of before and after. First problem, she was already helping someone else when I arrived. This means she did not give me her unconditional attention AND LEFT ROOM FOR HER TO FORGET ABOUT ME. Kacie immediately took me to the back and put a liquid on my hair to remove the color from my hair and then put me under a dryer for about 30 minutes plus. After a while, my head was getting extremely heated and the plastic was burning my neck. I removed the hair dryer from my head and because attempted to adjust plastic from my head to prevent it from burning my neck, but could not because it was so hot, it burned my fingers. After almost 45 minutes Kacie asked an assistance to wash my hair, the assitant could barely remove cap from my head because it was extremely hot. Kacie came over to check up on me an added another solution to my hair for color (one of the employees called her the queen of color as she passed by). She put me under the dryer again as she finished up with her first client. It was a little past 9:00 P.M. and she finally put me on the chair to cut my hair. The color of my hair was orange/copper. I asked " is this the color my hair will be?". She said "No, I am adding color after hair cut". My hair looked dry and brittle. But after the magic touch of hair serum and a hair straightner, my hair looked nice. The problem is that my hair was burnt and Kacie put a band aid by styling it so it would not look bad. She reminded me that my hair grows fast and that I should dry my hair before I go to bed and finish drying/stying in the morning. When I told her I was competing the following day in a speech contest, I heard a big gulp from her. When I left, she charged me $250.00 and then pointed to card machine so I could add a tip. When I left in shock, I did not realized I was a victim of a salon nightmare (burnt hair and ripped off). I was very disppointed with the way I was treated. Never have I had such bad experience. Till this day 08/23/13 , my hair is till damage and looks dull. Kacie could of recognized the error and offered a solution to get my hair back to healthy, instead of charging $250.00 and closing/locking the doors behind me as I left her shop. The people who rated this place 5 stars probably work at salon. This salon will not be in business for long if they continue to treat people the way they treated me. read more

Elvira is super sweet and totally genuine. You can tell she loves what she does and is absolutely awesome at it. She is great with color, so if you need color call! She is also great at the haircut too! I tend to change things up pretty frequently and she is all for it, she gives me realistic advice and expectations when discussing what I want. Emyko did my hair yesterday. I did like the massage I got on my head and she was nice however, I was unhappy with my haircut.. I showed her pictures as to what exactly I wanted, but when she was doing my hair she asked me if she should cut a certain area? ..she supposed to know, she is the hairstylist...at the end she told me to go home and try to style it and come in a couple a weeks..not sure what that meant, but gave her the benefit of the doubt and guess what, nothing change, it looks NOTHING like the picture I showed her. read more

I was about to make a drastic, approximately 12 in. cut, to my super long hair and was very skeptical on who my stylist would be. Honestly, thank you to Ms. Natalie Bush for the overall great experience. From the initial hello, she already made me feel absolutely comfortable. Aside from easing my nerves on what was to be the most change I've done to my hair, she executed and gave me a cut that I am very happy with. Once upon a time, I got my hair done in a high end Beverly Hills salon, but no more. When my color was so off and my hair so unruly, I couldn't stand it any longer. I had heard great things about Janet. Parking is easy and the inside of the salon is so spacious and upbeat. Everything looks clean and comfortable. The assistant who washed my hair also gave me a fantastic head massage. The chair massaged my legs as I was sitting there. It was so relaxing! I was also offered refreshments and a fresh baked snack. I have returned to Janet many times since my first visit for a haircut, styling, color and just a plain blow dry. She is always on time, so meticulous, and an amazingly awesome colorist. My hair always looks gorgeous when she is done! This upbeat, modern, friendly atmosphere is relaxing and they treat their customers with the utmost respect. I just moved to Claremont in July and hadn't had a hair cut in over a year. I went in because I yelped prior to making any appointments. I called on Wednesday and made an appointment for today. I walked in this morning and Anny was available to start. I have to be honest, I hate waiting for my hairdresser and was pleasantly surprised that she was available. She asked me if I wanted water, coffee, or anything (great to be treated like royalty!) I sat down, we discussed what to do to my hair and then she washed my hair. This is my favorite part because I LOVE LOVE LOVE head massages and she even massaged my neck! I was in heaven. She gave me a great cut and I was only there for an hour. Anny was very nice and we chatted the entire time. I did notice that they have 2 pedicure stations and a room that does massages, facial, etc. The salon was clean, welcoming and much bigger than I thought. I am extremely disappointed and upset that though I went through several phone calls to try to get an appointment with my 1st choice, Giancarlo, but couldn't get one when I could make it so because Giancarlo doesn't work Tuesdays, I got Emyko, whom I've never had. I got to my scheduled appointment to find that "Emyko wasn't in today." I was told I was scheduled for Wed which is a "No way did I schedule Wed!" So I am the type that won't go back. I didn't complain because whats the point. It's the 2nd time this has happened at Salon Luxe. I don't have time for incompetence. I did my part, all the business has to do is be professional when scheduling people and one would think be accomodating when a customer shows up and the busuness made a mistake. read more

Well I hate to write such a bad review but id like to warn those whom have zero tolerance for money hungry businesses by cramming people in. Reason being is that they over book clients every fifteen minutes as they told me after i arrived 7 mins late. For this reason i felt like i was being punished and told me i had to wait 30 mins for them to cut my hair. I mildly protested and didn't care about the bad vibes or stares, one of the receptionist gave me the stink eye and i would have gladly walked out if it wasn't for an important conference i had scheduled and my mother babysitting my child meanwhile i got the cut. Long story short they referred me to another stylist that had just opened up 25 mins post my arrival. I explained to my mom a long time assistant and experienced stylist in a prestigious location and she couldn't believe how ridiculous the salon was for overbooking every 15 mins and just how unfair i was treated for that reason. In addition i had my 3 year old with me and not once did they offer her to sit nearby or ask if she was ok. Ive been to other salons and of course my usual place i cut way further then this pompous place and they have always treated her nicely! Im really hoping it had nothing to do with my brown skin. but honestly i wished i would have walked out. With that said, avoid this place and go to Salon bloom next door. they have great reviews and their salon looked very nice and people seemed very down to earth.Never again! Lindzey is a hair genius! I went to Salon Luxe in Claremont yesterday on a whim. I had never been there before and tried it out based off of the Yelp reviews. I wanted to do something completely different with my hair and I wanted to embrace my natural color and quit the bleach blonde washed out look. I had a ridiculous wishlist complete with screen shots, just what every stylist hopes for! My list was: I wanted something low maintenance, that wouldn't cost a fortune and I didn't want it to be so different that it was shocking and so dark that I wouldn't feel like myself and I wanted it to be warm and bright instead of dark and drab. Simple right?!?! Lindzey went to work. She spent time listening to what I wanted, looked at pictures with me, consulted with a fellow stylist and formulated the perfect plan for me. The end result, I LOVE IT! She honestly gave me everything I asked for and then some. Lindzey is unlike any stylist I've ever worked with and the vibe at this salon is so nice, I could actually relax. All around it was a 5 star experience! When I came to Claremont for school, I was so sad to leave my old stylist from home. I never thought I would find anyone as good at trimming my layers and giving me the perfect golden highlights. I tried the Village at first, but found myself paying to much for a disappointing outcome. Then I discovered Salon Luxe on Yelp, and after reading the great reviews decided to make an appointment. Celes did a fantastic job with both the cut and color, and really listened to what I wanted. The environment was also very nice, and the latte machine is a definite perk!
