Outstanding experience at Salon Mia. They are both so kind and cute together. They worked diligently and efficiently, the total time was about 3.5 hours. Every strand of hair was accounted for and taken care of. I like Miss Mia's cheerful demeanor, she is so welcoming and understanding. I got a cut and digital perm here yesterday and couldn't be happier with the results. In the past, I've had stylists convince me not to do anything out of the ordinary, but Maria listened to what I wanted (which actually made me excited for my next hairdo) and provided helpful suggestions. She just knew hair and how to work with mine. She and Sean were very meticulous throughout the whole process and they also offered refreshments and cookies. I love this place! The people, the environment, and how much work they put into their profession. I came across this salon on yelp and noticed their "walk-ins welcome" which made it easier for me to come in for my appointment. However, I wanted a haircut and balayage, a very long process (3-4 hours), so I called in to make sure it wasn't too busy for my walk-in. They were very nice and let me come in as soon as I could. As soon as I walked in, Maria greeted me and let me tell her exactly what I wanted. At first she thought I said I wanted a root touch up over the phone, when really I wanted a full on balayage, but she took the time out of her day to fufill my needs which I really appreciated. Maria is such a sweet woman and takes her craft very seriously. Her husband Shawn was such a warming person as well and helped Maria during my process. Both of them have many years of experience and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. Price was something I was a little anxious about, since most places add more fees depending on length and texture. And with my hair being thick and long, I expected to pay more than $200. But Maria stated at the beginning of our session after examining my hair that the price would be $200 flat, which made me really happy. I highly recommend this place because Maria will satisfy your needs and will make sure shes giving you the best options available. Had an AMAZING experience at Salon Mia with Maria and her husband! Before going to Salon Mia, my hair looked like a rat's nest. I'm talking split ends for days, super dry, and the balayage I got from another place was getting weirdly yellow and crusty. It looked like I crawled out of a rock (which isn't that far from the truth since COVID-19 has made me a hot mess). You can tell that she was super knowledgable on how hair moves and falls. I totally stink at hair. Like legit only know how to put it in a really weak ponytail so I just asked her for her professional opinion and she talked me through everything (How she was going to cut my bangs, how she was going to trim my hair, how it was going to fall, etc). I stood there stupified by her knowledge #I'mNotWorthy. After giving me a fresh cut, her and her husband got to work giving me a digital perm. Not only were they incredibly meticulous and very detail-oriented, they were the absolute cutest couple and worked so well together! #RelationshipGoals. The whole process took about 4 hours, but now I automatically have waves after I take a shower and look put together without even trying! It didn't even feel like 4 hours because they were the sweetest people and it was such a great experience. Maria also noticed the damage in my hair and treated it while also adding a bit of toner to level off the bleached blond looking parts of my hair (The part that wasn't cut off, I still wanted my hair a bit past my shoulders). And she did this out of the goodness of her heart because she couldn't bear to see my hair like that. The price is pretty freaking epic also. The digital perm was $200 WITH THE CUT INCLUDED. CUT...IN...CLUDED (Yes, I know "cluded" is not a word). You can't beat that, ladies! I know. I'VE TRIED. I've lived in San Diego for 2 years and haven't been able to find a hairstylist, but I am now happy to say that I have found my go-to place! Also, big props to them for being COVID conscious. They had their doors wide open and I was the only one that they were serving the entire time. I got my hair done by Maria. She was very professional, friendly, interesting to talk to and experienced. She actually has over 15 years of experience I found out! I was a difficult customer because I had to get my hair from a bad dye job mixture of blonde and red to a deep red. I wanted it bright, but as natural looking as possible so my work would not complain about the color. She expertly worked to get my hair the perfect shade and did three amazing things: 1) She also dyed my eyebrows to match the new color (not everyone remembers this important step) 2) This was a BIG deal: after completely finishing my hair, blow dry and all, I felt the color needed a little toning down for my work, so she added brown to it and re-shampooed and re-blow dried and everything! She was patient, kind and helpful through this process. She offered to do this too! I didn't have to go home feeling I wish it were darker. 3) After all was said and done she even threw in a free hair curling, because I told her how I wanted to try a loose wavy curl style. Maria and her husband both own and work in this salon (which is adorable). With two experts there keeping it running I have confidence that no matter who you see your experience at Mia Salon will be amazing just like mine. The perm includes a cut as well, and the curls lasted about 7 months for me! They're very patient throughout the whole process, which is about 4 hours and I never felt rushed. I walked in without an appointment and Maria was very nice. However, my Haircut was subpar and rushed. I was expecting her to style it, maybe close to what the picture I showed her at the start. I also told her my last hairstylist used thinning shears at the end. She didn't use thinning shears, she dried it slightly and then said ok thank you. I had to ask her to put some gel on my hair and when I got home I had to restyle it myself. I've gotten many digital perms in my life; ~6 in Asia and 2 in the states. Both digital perms I got in the states previously were very disappointing; the curls didn't hold and it was a huge waste of time/money. First time being here and it was amazing! My hair looked frizzy and messy, but now I have calm and shiny dark brown hair. Maria did wonderful job trimming into perfect length and dying with perfect color that looks good on my skin tone. It took decent amount of time and I didn't get bored the entire time talking with her and other stylists. Maria must be popular cuz she was receiving many calls and had other customers keep coming in while I was there.
