Fantastic Stylists - our entire family goes here. This place is beautiful with five star ambiance. But what it even more impressive is the talent at this location. My wife is stopped every where we go about her gorgeous hair. Her color is by Jill and cut by Valentina. I get a great men's cut upstairs in the private men's lounge (with a beer) by Noah. My son sees Noah also because the cuts are consistently great - these people don't have "a bad day". If they do, thank goodness is doesn't show up in my haircut. read more

I got a wonderful haircut and style for the wedding! He had a lot of helpful tips for me about my hair type. I would like to return and get some highlights soon. I went to get hair cut Saturday - style was supposed to be same as before, was with same hair dresser 3x before, medium long hair , reshape. She listened , said yes , and cut super extra short hair - next stage would have been buzz cut. My feeling - she did a haircut for a person other than me. Now I put on a hat even at home. This is a great salon. Simply walking in makes it feel like you're treating yourself. There's a chandelier on the ceiling for goodness sakes. That being said, I felt a bit insecure walking in because it appeared so upscale and all the employees were so dolled up. I was reassured that plenty of women come in wearing sweats. In any case, I immediately met with my stylist, Naina. Key point here is that they were ready for my appointment ON TIME. That was already a big deal. Naina then took a good look at my hair at various angles and inquired about my general hair styling habits and preferences. I explained to her that I generally tossed my hair dry and I could see her face already forming a plan. I was then sent off to get my hair washed and ready for her. I mostly gave her free rein. I only wanted it slightly shorter than she re originally recommended based on my split ends, which she was pleased. "Yes, that will make it look much healthier," she said. She was very thorough and repeatedly checked for my okay for overall length, length of layering, the way I liked my hair to move, the way I wanted my face framed, and the way my bangs would meet the rest of my hair. She was very confident and comfortable working, and the further along we went, the more comfortable I was when she was at her finishing step with my bangs, so I let her decide the length of that of that too. She really seemed to enjoy working with my hair, and that added to my comfort. I never saw a moment of uncertainty. I even mentioned how she seemed very familiar with Asian hair. She said she's worked with it frequently and understands that it's more slippery than Caucasian. Naina gave me a great blow out. She gave me beachy, undone waves typically not achievable with Asian hair. Usually when it is attempted, it looks more done than undone. Naina is great with Asian hair. Anyone looking for that criteria should make a request for her. read more

The new home of Salon O is way beyond any salon I have ever seen. The staff is wonderful. I always feel like I am entering a friends home when I walk in every Saturday morning. If you're expecting a salon on par with Manhattan in terms of talent, you'll be gravely disappointed. Danielle was my colorist (told me she has over 25 years of experience), giving my virgin red hair golden sun kissed highlights. I showed her a picture of myself from years ago when I last had highlights, so I knew it was an attainable look. In the past, at top Manhattan salons, highlights were always mixed for me after a consultation. The colorist would say, "I'm going to mix up a warm golden blond for your highlights and because your hair is curly, we'll make them thick so they show up inside your corkscrews and waves." Danielle said nothing like this. After reviewing my photo, she returned with, what I later learned was, a violet lightener. The result was a very cool, not warm, white blonde--platinum! Cool white highlights in a very warm coppery ginger head of hair look like WHITE STRIPES of premature gray! It was horrendous. Once I expressed how the highlights were unbearably white and nothing resembling the photo, she agreed they were too white but said she could add some toner. She added toner WITH HER HAND, not a squirt bottle over a sink, then wiped it out after spraying water from a spray bottle. That's it. When I returned to my car in the sunlight, I saw that I was ruined! My hair looked parched and white, like a bad South Shore Long Island 80's frosted dye job, far from sun kissed. After expressing dissatisfaction with the owner over the phone, she said I should come in the next day, where they would fix it. I returned, and Angela said that Danielle did the wrong thing, never should have used lightener, should have made them thicker, mixed a color, etc. But all Angela did was try to correct Danielle's mistake with toner. Once rinsed out, properly this time, I looked as if I never had any highlights! $140 plus $28 tip and no highlights, which is what I paid for! The owner didn't stick around to see if I was happy with the end results. And Angela simply said, yeah ask for me next time and I will do them properly. But she still let me walk out without any highlights. As if she wasn't expected to give me what I had asked for when I walked in, but was simply trying to repair Danielle's damage. I was thoroughly disappointed. read more

I made an appointment for my daughter on a Saturday. When I got there I regretted not making an appointment for myself Bc my hair was a hot mess. The girl at the counter immediately checked if anyone was available for highlights and a cut. She didn't act annoyed or roll her eyes, with a smile she said "I'm glad you said something, Danielle has an opening now". This place was so busy and every employee was nicer than the next. Danielle highlighted my hair, cut and blowed it out beautifully. I feel like a new person and pretty :) My daughters wanted "cool" highlights and not too much cut off. Angela put highlights and lowlights that were just perfect! Louis took the time to ask her exactly what she wanted in a haircut- 14 year olds can be pretty particular- he listened to her and was very patient. This place is AMAZING. My 10 bridesmaids, my mother, my mother-in-law, and I all got our hair and makeup done here before my Labor Day Weekend wedding. They were AWESOME. Valentina did my hair- I had 4 different trials and hers was hands-down the best one. I have been coming here for almost a year-ever since my stylist started working here. I see Rosemary , who is an incredibly talented and professional hair stylist. She has a talent that separates her from any one else who I've seen prior to her, and I have been seeing her for at least 10 years. I also consider myself very lucky when I go on a day Louis is working for the hair wash. Every time I have gone there, at least one of the two owners is always there at the front desk, which is probably why everything is run so efficiently and professionally . One time the owner saw me waiting and came over to check on me, so they really are on top of everything. I highly recommend Salon O, as well as my stylist, Rosemary . I really enjoyed my experience today. I've been looking for a local cut and colorist for a while now. My friend suggested Tracey at Salon O, so I decided to be whimsical and give her a try! I spontaneously decided that I wanted color, too, so I called and made an appointment, not knowing anything about the colorist, or the salon! When I arrived, I told the receptionist that I was nervous, and she so confidently proclaimed that I would be very happy! After meeting Allie, my colorist, I felt calm and excited, for I knew I was in good hands. Allie was patient, looked at all of my pictures, listened to my ideas, and my fears, and then got to work. After some great conversation and master foiling, Allie sent me over to Tracey. Another lovely woman greeted me, and helped me to decide on a cut. I cannot tell you how happy I am. I visited this salon for the first time today and I could not be happier!! I typically have colored my hair throughout my life by using store bought box dye and I knew if I wanted to go lighter, I'd have to seek a professional. Like most women who do not frequent salons more than once every 5 or so years, I was extremely nervous!!! I heard about this salon from a mutual friend of Allie who is a colorist there. Allie let me know what to expect, answered all of my questions and together we embarked on the massive undertaking that is an ombre... on my box-dyed waist length hair hahhha ... it came out absolutely amazing and I am sooooo happy I put my trust in her. Its worth noting that everyone I came in contact with was super sweet - including Marie who rinsed my hair and helped untangle all of it (anyone who's had an ombre done knows what I mean!) And the gentleman who did the blow out was also phenomenal, his name is Lewis. I was a bit in a rush and he blew my hair out flawlessly. Valentina at Salon O is by far the best hairdresser I have ever been able to find on Long Island. I both grew up on Long Island and moved back here once I got married, so take that recommendation for what it's worth. I also happen to be the most picky and particular about my hair, so again the value of my highest recommendation is very high. If you are lucky enough to score an appointment with Valentina (MUST call in advance, Saturday's are in large part "standing" appointments), you will see just how talented she is with hair. Moreso than that, she is extremely thorough and meticulous and entirely concerned with her customers' satisfaction. Many, MANY hairdressers take no concern with their client's desires and do only what they (the hairdresser) wants or sees as their vision for the client. Valentina, while always happy to offer her incredible expertise and knowledge, is also always aiming to please her client and seeking to accomplish her client's goal for his or herself. Valentina is truly top notch and multi talented (excels with all hair types). Made an appointment for a hair cut the same day of service. Got there in time for my appointment. Not so friendly welcome by one of the stylists sitting in the waiting area. Eye contact and a weird look like i couldn't understand why. Sam then introduced herself and is very lovely. At first I was told that they made a mistake in booking and they thought my appointment was for a blow dry only...and wanted to check if someone is available to give me a hair cut...not long after that Kristen came to my life...very sweet, very knowledgeable and skillful...as I showed her a few pics of what i wanted my hair cut to look like, her big question, which i really appreciate, was whether I can keep up with that style everyday at home...luckily I do have the tools and products to manage it...but the point being, she is considerate of a very important aspect of anyone's salon visit...will definitely go back to her for more styles and experiments with cuts and colors... read more
