It feels like a welcoming neighborhood salon where everyone knows you, not an impersonal mega-salon. They even offer you local coffee or tea from the shops just down the street. A great touch! Salon is the only place that can keep my best girlfriend's hair looking stylish and spunky. I accompanied her to her stylist and was impressed with what this boutique has to offer. Salon is located near Redtree in Oakley. The waiting area is pretty small, with only a few chairs for those waiting on a stylist. Tucked along the walls are a variety of Aveda products, from shampoos, hair sprays and creams for your skin. These items seemed pricey, even for a salon. A few ounces of facial scrub cost $40.00! Eek! The salon decor was very serene and modern, but the small space didn't make me feel like I was in a luxury setting. Plus, with only two rooms the strong stench of perm could knock a person off their feet (or seat) in the waiting area. My friend had her hair trimmed and thinned out in about 40 minutes. She looks great and was squeezed in last minute, which is what makes Salon worthwhile. read more

I love Salon! I have moved almost every year for the past 5 years, and always have a hard time finding a good stylist in a new city. My first try here in Cincinnati was at Salon with Lisa, and my search is over! Salon is very cute but not too trendy, an Lisa is amazing. I have longish super straight hair, and often stylists cut layers that make my ends tweak out. But with the long-layering cut she did with my hair, it now lays perfectly after just blowdrying it! I went in a few weeks later to have her fix my highlights, and she did such a good job putting in low-lights and toner to help out my too-blond summer hair. Definitely recommend! read more

Born and raised in Cincy but now a Manhattan-ite, I recently came to Cincinnati to visit family and decided to get a cut and color and save some money since salons in NYC cost me an arm and a leg. I went to Salon based on positive Yelp reviews and got a cut and a color gloss with Jen. Here's a breakdown of my review: SALON - Located conveniently in Oakley, I made an appointment the day before. The receptionist on the phone was pleasant and very charming. I could practically hear her smiling! The next day I walk into my appointment wearing muddy hiking boots but I was only greeted with smiles. Everyone made me feel relaxed, calm and appreciated. You get none of that snooty salon attitude here. Just pure professionalism and a great friendly attitude. CUT - My hair is long, thin and straight and I want to keep growing it long and Jen understood that. She trimmed up my ends and added a few long layers which I totally trusted her with and they came out great. (I should note that I'm writing this review a week after my cut and the cut is growing out nicely!) COLOR - My natural light/medium auburn brown hair could use a boost and I wanted a bit more depth and red audburn tones and Jen knew exactly what I wanted! The color came out darker than I expected, but that is typical of most glosses. After 2-3 shampoos, my color is shiny and a beautiful auburn color and healthier than it was before! SERVICE - While there, everyone was chatting with me not just Jen. The entire staff was all about making sure I was getting great service. When I asked about the ingredients in their products, they promptly did the research and gave me a list of products I should try. PRICE- Cut + color + tip + shaving cream for my Dad = $120. AMAZING! I left Salon looking and feeling better then I had in years!!! Denise made me feel right at home. Took the time to really talk to me about my hair and my lifestyle. Loved all the Aveda products used. Loved the cut, color and highlights. Loved the time took to shampoo and condition my hair with a complimentary facial in between. I was even able to have my eyebrows waxed by Melissa. Melissa is Salons massage therapist and skin estitition. After talking with her I was ready to book a massage and facial for my next trip. Both turned out to be one of the best things I could have done for myself. My skin still is glowing and the massage was heavenly. Do yourself a favor and give Salon a try! Based upon prices and location, this spa is great. They are accommodating with scheduling. I'm not one who can generally book several weeks out because my schedule changes, and they can usually find a way to fit me in when I need it. I've also never had to wait too long once I arrive for my appointment(s). I go to Chelsea for my eyebrows (waxing, tinting) and eye lash tinting. She is fantastic! Not only does she do a great job, but she's also a lot of fun. Her head massages are so relaxing! I sent my mom to Chelsea for eyebrows and tinting, and she also did a mani and pedi on my mom which looked fantastic. I'm want to try hair services and facials too! read more

I made a day-of appointment with Denise based on other Yelp reviews, and I'm very happy with my haircut. Admittedly, I hadn't cut my hair in over a year (a combination of growing out and fear of finding a new stylist after moving from Boston). The cut was $35, a great deal compared to comparable cuts I've had for $75 and $90. The place is serene, modern and super clean, and the staff was helpful and approachable. I'm a bit of an annoying client to begin because I only know of what I *don't want, rather than what I'd like to do. Denise listened and didn't try anything crazy, explaining how and what she would do. The Aveda products at Salon are tops, and Denise was helpful in telling me what she was using and what she recommended for my hair - without being pushy. Beyond disappointed with my service. Went in for caramel highlights and came out with ashy BLONDE hair! Has taken almost 4 years to grow out to my natural color. Can not believe I PAID THEM to have my hair ruined. Called and and in the day after but nothing was actually done to FIX my hair. Even had a consultation before the appointment to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted done. Not even in the REALM of what I asked for and I had pictures. Being new to the area, and picky about who cuts my hair, I did alot of online research about where I should go. I chose Salon because a) it's close to my apartment and b) their price range is smaller than other salons...some places advertised cuts as low as $28 but as high as $56, but Salon ranges from $35 to $45. I can deal with that. They were able to get me an appointment within 3 days of when I called. Having never been there before, I asked the receptionist to recommend a stylist that was comfortable/had experience dealing with naturally curly hair (since that's what I have). She suggested two names and I chose Roseanne (I think the other was Jen). The waiting area is very small, so if you were to have an appointment during a high traffic time you might get your toes stepped on. I was offered coffee, tea, or water upon my arrival. Roseanne started my appointment right on time and she was nice and pleasant to talk to. I knew I was in good hands when I saw the head of curly hair she had, and how nice it looked! I went in for a trim (about 2 inches) and asked that my hair be kept in long layers (my hair is down well into my shoulder blades). For a wash, "complimentary" facial (c'mon, you can't tell me that's NOT built into the price somewhere), trim, and curly finishing style on my long medium-thick hair, I paid $40, which I consider reasonable for this area. I was not at all disappointed with my cut. Overall, the place is clean and the atmosphere is friendly. I only gave 4 stars because I wasn't crazy about the Aveda products for curly hair but I intend to return (and this time have her straighten my hair and see how that goes). Also, it's hard to screw up a cut - although I know it happens. I was going to wait until after I went to get my hair colored there to write the review, but it looks like that's not going to happen for awhile now and I wanted to add to the positive numbers this place deserves. read more

I've seen Hannah at Oakley Salon several times for cuts and always been super pleased. Let me tell you what really makes Oakely Salon great though... I had a Saturday afternoon appointment with Hannah in preparation for family photos. I HATE doing anything to my hair so was really looking forward to a fresh cut and simple styling by a pro. Hannah unfortunately got very sick in the morning and needed to leave, and the salon called me in advance to try to accommodate, but I didn't pick up the dang phone! I arrived at 1:30pm to learn the news, devastated. But the salon did everything they could to rearrange and fit me in with another stylist, Amanda-- I think they could see my stress. Amanda did a FANTASTIC job and I love how my hair turned out for photos! Bonus that I now have two stylists I love at Oakley Salon...Hannah and Amanda (and the wonderfully kind woman at the front desk, sorry I don't know your name)-- thanks so much! read more

The site told me it would cost $120 when I booked online and I was charged $175 at the end of my appointment. Couple of years ago I decided to start having my eyebrows professionally waxed for the first time. I was terrified that I would look scary. I've searched around and found Salon, made my appointment and went in kind of holding my breath to not end up looking like I have drawn on eyebrows. This is when I met Melissa and my life changed. Melissa runs the back of the Salon: eyebrow waxing, manicures and pedicures and massages. I can't even imagine how does she do it all on her own. She is very soft spoken and easy going. We have conversations about anything and everything and it almost feel like we hang out and talk every day. Aside from her wonderful personality and professionalism, Melissa does an exceptional job. My eyebrows are always perfectly shaped with minimal pain. There was one time that I couldn't make it to see Melissa so I made a mistake and had my eyebrows waxed at another salon and like I said that was a big mistake. I will never have anybody else touch my eyebrows. As of recently, I started having Melissa do my pedicure and I think that will be another service I will be having regularly at the Salon. Prices here are very reasonable, up to par with your other good salons but what I like about Salon is that even though Melissa does a large number of services, she truly loves it. This is not just a job to her, this is her life and she treats the salon like it is her own. I admire people like that. read more

I am most definitely giving this salon 5 stars, there is no reason not too! After finding this salon on yelp, I called on a Thursday and had my appt. by Saturday morning! Ok, that is awesome.. When I walked in, it smelled like your typical Aveda Salon, herbal-like I guess.. Not, chemically ( not quite sure if that is a word ). I was quickly greeted by Denise, we went over what I wanted.. She was good at suggestions, but listened carefully at what I wanted.. ( which was NO Length taken off, but nice long layers) .She was also fun to chat with.. I have had "Flat" Color for a while, and wanted subtle highlights.. Boy, oh boy did she do a great job! My haircut is seriously gorgeous, managable and my color is just lovely and natural.. The whole staff seemed professional and friendly.. This is the first time since I moved to Cincinnati that I made my six week follow up cut and color when I left... I recently moved here from Minneapolis, MN and am quite picky when it comes to salons/stylists. In short, Jen was awesome, and my overall experience couldn't have been much better! The things that are most important to me as a client she did! She was thorough with the consultation. She was so gentle with my hair. I have fine hair, and I really dislike it when stylists are rough because I'm obsessed with losing my hair (I know, I know). She gave an incredible scalp massage (this is a MUST for me) She listened as I told her how I like to style my hair. She made product recommendations as she used them. And, the color is GORGEOUS. I've been to this salon twice before and Roseanne did a really good job, but today I went to Denise and she did a few extra things to my hair that I never asked for. I told her specifically I wanted a shoulder length blunt cut with no layers and that's it, and it was going perfectly fine until she dried it. She never asked me if I wanted her to straighten my hair and she did it anyways and she never once asked me if I wanted her to use thinning shears on my hair. I have naturally thick hair and I like it that way, but now it feels incredibly thin towards the ends. If you're going to do something to my hair that I didn't ask for ASK ME. I feel like this look is better for someone who is older, not a 15 year old. read more

I came here a few months ago for a haircut. I usually get long layers with sideswept bangs, so I decided to get them again. My stylist took a while shampooing and cutting. The end result was ok, but I felt that it made me look much older than I am. I looked like late '90s Monica Lewinsky...ooh so close, but not exactly what I was going for. I ended up going to Great Clips a couple days later and they made me look normal again. Maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather pay $10 for a haircut I like than $40 for something that annoys me every time I glance at a reflective surface. Hannah does an amazing job, and goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are happy with their results. I have difficult hair to color, it doesn't absorb dye well. I've seen so many stylists and received lackluster results that I almost lost hope in being able to have my hair professionally colored. Then came Hannah! Disappointed ! I got a blowout on Saturday at 9 am. The gal who did my hair was very sweet and listened to what I wanted. I told her I had an event that evening that was outdoors so I needed it to hold. She understood and did not brush my curls out so it would hold longer. I left the salon around 10:15 and went to target. I got home not even 30 minutes later and my curls were gone. I was shocked. I knew they were fully booked so I sent an email asking what could be done because I paid $45 for that. I get blowouts all the time from zephyr up the street and blown city in mason and never once have I been charged extra from curls so I was already annoyed but now I'm just very angry nobody even replied to my email! If you go to a salon and get a bad color they fix it for you but a blowout with a full book cannot be fixed that day. I ended up having to curl my own hair and spent $45 plus a tip for nothing. At the very least they could have offered me another visit or just given me my money back. At least respond to my email and apologize. read more

i love salon... i have been getting my hair cut by erika for 4 years and she is awesome. the only problem is that you have to book her pretty far in advance because she is so popular. prices are good, i think she charges $40 for a haircut and bang trims are free. i don't know anything about any of the stylists other than erika but they all seem nice. read more
