My appt was scheduled for 5pm, Elke did not eve acknowledge my presence until 540!! I have been looking forward to getting my hair done and once she FINALLY said hello she seemed very nice so I let it go. We discussed what we were going to do and I felt like we were absolutely on the same page. Chunky beach blond vibes! I already had 3/4 of my hair bright happy blonde. after washing I looked down at my ends and was pretty shocked to see dark!!!! NOT ONCE DID I REQUEST dark anything!! I mentioned it to her she said it's just still wet. She turned me away from the mirror and finished drying. I was horrified to see a strip of almost white "money piece" jagged across my forehead. and then mostly dark hair!!! Now that it's been a couple days, a friend said it looks like dirty mop water!!! It's grayish brown and dull!!! I was tearful while checking out and she just continued to gaslight me and told me to give it a few days. And still felt fine charging me with tears in my eyes!! Horrible woman!!! The next day I requested a refund and she said she would be willing to fix the money piece and that would probably make everything else better. No it absolutely would not. I would not let her touch my hair ever again. She does not care. She didn't do anything even remotely close to what I asked. Over all bad and fake human. Update: I called the owner who was helpful. Jordan then texted me and said she can't fix anything 3 weeks after the service, even though I have been texting her and she was ignoring my messages. Because that makes perfect sense. Whatever you do, do not see Jordan. I have had the worst experience of my life with her at the salon. Not only does she not know what she's doing, she has horrible customer service skills. We were going back-and-forth for blonde highlights, and I literally left the salon with hair that was darker than when I got there. When I messaged her about it, she said that she "can't foil that close to the roots." I wish I knew this before, because that's what every other hairdresser has done prior and I would've gone somewhere else. I have friends that do hair and after I showed them photos of what Jordan did to my hair they all agreed that Jordan has no idea what she's doing. On top of that, she offered one time for me to come in and fix it. I don't live in Reno and couldn't make it. When I tried to reschedule it, she ignored me. I had a really great experience with Lexi. I have very dark hair so I am always hesitant to get my hair died lighter anywhere. Not only is Lexi just a pleasant person to speak with and is very positive and sweet, she also just gave me what I asked for and listened to some of my suggestions and requests for more heat with either foils or a hair dryer, and used green to get it to where it needs to be which most people are reluctant to use. By far the worst place I have ever gotten my hair done. I went to Kristina who messed up every bit of my hair and did not give me what I wanted. Pictures of what I asked for vs what I received and it's nothing like the pictures below. My hair is not Balayage as she claims but highlighted. I have asked a few stylists now who said they would've corrected their work free. I have cried over my hair for the past 2 weeks and when I told her and told her how I feel the day she did it, she tells me she'll fix it for more money. Who does that?! Why not fix what you messed up on and have some respect for your work. She's all about the money and not making the customer happy. I paid hundreds of dollars for a color and cut I didn't ask for. Not to mention she was gossiping and talking crap about one of her fellow coworkers who brings her 2 daughters with her to work. She was talking so terrible about her in front of me! Why would you have that kind of unprofessional talk in front of clients? Do yourself a favor and just stay away from a place that doesn't commit to their job and have no respect for their art. I really don't even know what to do from here about my hair and it's been bothering me but I can't spend another few hundred to have it fixed cause she wouldn't own up and just fix it. If I could give a zero star review I would. I had Jordan do my hair and got charged around $400 for yellow and streaky hair. I then contacted her how yellow and streaky it was and she stated she would charge me $60 for a toner and hair dry. She then did this free of charge, realizing she did a terrible job on my hair and instead fried it, and my front pieces were silver. I then went to another stylist WHO ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT and realized jordan is not for me. I then canceled my future apt with Jordan. I then got a text at 9:55am on the 8th saying I had an apt on December 10th. Because I reached out to her at 11am on the 8th which is 47 hours before she said I owed her $100. I never was told about a cancellation policy and only booked with her via texts. If you would like to be disrespected and overcharged by a hairdresser then go to Jordan. She said I was rude and stole from her business if I did not pay her. Because of this I felt pressured to pay her $100 after already being overcharged and paying $400 for the worst hair. read more

Nick has very unsafe cutting technic. He cuts way too close to the face and body with a swinging motion. It made me cringe through the whole time feeling I will be pocked in the eye or cut through skin. Overall look was pretty good. Highlights were nice but please don`t cut so close to the body and face with such motion it feels very uncomfortable and scary. After my hair was washed my back was soaked but who cares about that just get the cutting to a safe norm. read more

Holy guacamole! I went to get a balayage and a cut, Chelsey was my stylist and she did an AMAZING job! I just moved from Las Vegas, so I had no idea where to go. I decided on Salon Platinum because I saw so many photos of past clients that looked absolutely stunning coming out of this salon. I wasn't terribly concerned about how the color would turn out, but I was definitely concerned about the cut because of how many past experiences have gone wrong. I wanted some layers and to keep the length of my hair. Chelsey absolutely nailed the cut, its more than I could have asked for, and the color looks so beautiful and evenly blended. I'm so glad I gave this place a try, I can't wait to visit again! Side note: The salon is very clean, there was a girl consistently cleaning the place the entire time I was there. I have been looking for a new salon and hairstylist since I moved to Reno in 2012. I have tried quite a few salons around town over the years but never found anyone that I really loved. That's until I found Hannah at Salon Platinum. The salon is super cute and there is plenty of parking which is always nice. I was referred to Hannah by a friend who described her as amazing and she was right! Hannah does such a wonderful job cutting and coloring my hair, she kills it every time! OK but... In advance of my cut I told the stylist Sierra, "I want to be able to run my fingers through the ends and not have tangles," "I don't blow dry ever (because I run/swim every day) so don't blow it out." Near the end of the cut I noticed that Sierra was holding shearing scissors. Damn! I forgot to tell her not to use them! I asked, "I understand that shearing scissors cause the hair's ends to fiz out and get tangly and become quickly damaged. She said, "yeah, they do that." So here's the thing... a great salon won't use shearing scissors on your ends. They know better. Its been a week since my cut and I can't run my fingers through my hair, my fingers get tangled at the ends where she sheared my hair. In spite of my request, she also blew my hair out. She said she needed to blow it to finish the cut. OK, I get it, but don't charge me for it. My sweetie is getting his hair cut next, I'm recommending a different salon. read more

The salon: Salon Platinum has come a long way! I remember years ago it was just a small shop in the building on California Ave, but now it occupies entire first floor with a very open, airy layout. The black & gray design is modern chic, and the separate wash room with reclining chairs is quite charming. The staff: Ryan, the front desk attendant was super accommodating and polite--I called for a same-day appointment and was thrilled to get an evening time slot, but even more thrilled when Ryan called back to let me know there was an earlier opening that I could fill instead. Um, YES! The stylist: *Noni Fleck* is awesome! Such a sweet and unique soul, and her balayage technique is top-notch--no foiled, matted chunks of hair over here! Just perfectly placed hand-painted goodness for that blended, natural look. She made great conversation which helped me feel right at home and when it came time to cut, she took special care to ensure she clearly understood what I wanted (thank you!!).
