My husband came here for the first time and they charged $30 to trim his hair. They did a great job but it was unfortunate for that price, it did not include a wash after. The salon is clean and it's a family business (i saw family members sweeping and helping out). They are really friendly too. The location is not bad with parking in the front or street parking nearby. Also next to great restaurants. They were able to let us book an appt same day. They close at 6pm. She has Saturday appointments, which made it easy for me to finally get my hair done. I was not happy with my hair, but Shannon looked at it and immediately knew what to do! It was about six years since I've had a proper haircut. Before that, I went for the DIY look and cut my own hair. I was hungry for change and am really glad my GPS led me from my first choice salon, which is closed on Wednesday, to Lee instead. I had brought in pictures on my phone of a haircut I really liked, a sort of feathery and shaggy look oft sported by a model I like, Freja. I do not trust others with my hair, hence not going to get a haircut. The more and more Lee helped me along the process, the more I felt comfortable, even discussing some of my hair habits while shampooing (I use coconut oil once weekly, but will now use once monthly because I agree it makes my already-healthy hair kind of gunky and not free-flowing...though she suggested I just stop using it, nothing to do with health but more appearance of hair). She spent a good amount of time on me and we would step back and review the final product, and she is very intuitive with detecting how much I like where we were and how much I felt we could keep going with chopping more off. I have to agree with the previous reviewer, that Lee really considers a lot about the entire process, like how it will grow out after a while. She has a great intuitive sense about the science and aesthetic of her trade from her 16 years of experience, and in the beginning really studied my cranial shape, how my hair naturally falls and where it naturally parts, etc. I trust her so much, by the end of the cut I let her thread my eyebrows. I haven't threaded them since prom, but boy was I glad to have let her! I also haven't done anything to them because I am all about just a natural brow - but Lee still kept it natural, just shaping it really beautifully. Lee is committed and invested in not just your hair but your overall presentation...you're like her work of art...she likes to step back and improve. It was so nice to 'open up my eyes' after getting a fresh chop! I know that the threading wasn't part of an "up-sell" but an aesthetic recommendation because she didn't try to sell me any products afterwards like I know so many places do. For some reason though, after the cut and the threading, if she did happen to try to...I just might trust her on that, too. But I think her recommendation for me was to really keep my hair free of gunk, which I would agree. Threading is ten dollars, and shampoo+cut+style is fifty dollars. Not bad for a major transformation. Lee is officially my holy grail hairstylist and eyebrow threader. read more

About six years ago I got my first haircut from Lee. A friend took me with her when she went to have a haircut, suggesting that I should have one too (OK, she dragged me there because I really didn't want to go, to be honest! Lol). I went with my friend firmly convinced that I will only keep her company (no way I will get my hair cut by somebody new!). Right away Lee was friendly and accommodating. I felt comfortable and I must confess watching her work made me trust her. She took her time, she paid attention to every little detail, she listened to what my friend wanted. It looked so well, I was getting compliments even from strangers! ...so there is no wonder that I'm still going to Lee, and her work never failed or disappointed all these years. Lee loves her work, and it's obvious! She also knows what haircut will fit you or not, and she will give you her honest opinion. And, on top of that, her haircuts will keep their shape for months. I only need to blow dry my hair and I'm good to go. What's also very important to me is that Lee remembers you as a person, and she remembers what you like or dislike about your hair or hairstyle. Pricey as hell, but as long as you get Lee, you'll get your money's worth. She's very friendly and talkative and so talented at what she does. She does not rush and takes her time on you. I started going here almost a year ago as recommended by a friend to have my hair cut and color done by Mimi. Overall the salon is clean and neat and everyone has been very friendly. What I like is that everyone is doing a clean job and maintains a down to earth professional attitude, compared to some salons that can be nosey/loud/gossiping about the dramas of life. It is modestly priced given the fact they are in San Marino off Huntington Drive. I went to see Mimi for two reasons, the fact that my hair is curly and to re do my color. I am bit picky with anyone getting near me, and more so with someone touching me, but her kind and gentle demeanor took care of all that. She listens intently to conversation, especially when it comes to my hair, and maintains a very positive attitude about everything ( which is also refreshing to me because it seems many people nowadays are too distracted to give some one their care and undivided attention) As far the hair goes, I love it because she knew how to cut my curly hair in the right shape to sit pretty once it dries. The color came out aweeesssome, it was rich and she helped me pick out a color based on a couple options that would bring out my skin tone while still looking natural. She advised me on not going too light as to not over process my hair from the previous colorings and highlights. She gave me a few highlights which I asked to blend in to not be too obvious, and they turned out looking very nice, like a sun kissed look minus the frying sun. Oh and one last thing which is more of a personal preference, the hands- when she massages your scalp during shampoo time, she's got the perfect gentle nail/fingertip pressure that almost puts me to sleep every time. She is gentle when combing or cutting your hair so you don't feel your hair being yanked either. Lastly I would like to add that I recently found out she moved home to a spot a couple hours out of town, but she still makes it out to Vero Salon every week to take care of all her people.
