I needed a quick haircut badly so I decided to do a yelp search for nearby salons. I came across Salon Vollo and they were able to squeeze me in at 5 (I called around 4:30). The salon is cute, nothing too fancy but clean and everyone working there was very nice. The girl that washed my hair gave me such a good scalp massage it was perfect after a very hectic day. I then had my hair cut and blown out by I think, Alex. She was amazing. I really didn't have to give her very much direction. She asked a few questions and then she went to work. I really love my cut. She suggested some products but wasn't at all pushy about it. I will definitely go back to buy the kerastase finishing product she recommended. The blow out was still perfect the next morning when I woke up. The best part about this haircut and blowout, it was only $45! It was a special since it was my first time though. This place is great, affordable, and Ira gives the best manicure and pedicure I've ever gotten. Seriously, my manicures stay without chipping for a week and I can go 3 weeks without a pedicure and it looks like I got it done yesterday. She's also quick does eyebrow threading... I actually get comments on my eyebrows sometimes... that's never happened before I started coming here. I've also gotten my hair blown out here a bunch and it looks awesome every time. If it were possible I would give this salon no stars. I showed Rafael 2 different hair style pictures and he said they were the same. That should have been my first warning.. Beware of this salon. He chopped up my hair and gave me the worst cut of my life. I am absolutley miserable. I tryed to blow it out today and I was almost in tears. I have no idea what this man was thinking. Do NOT and I Repeat, DO NOt go to this salon and if you do, don't go to Raphael. He had all good reviews and there was no warning. This is the warning. He ruined my hair and now I have to wait 3-4 months to let it grow out with a horrible cut. I am even considering a wig which I have never done in my life. BEWARE! I hate to write a negative post, but I had a horrific waxing experience here and hope the salon does more training on the process in the future. Went in for a bikini wax and came out in pain but didn't think much of it. The next day I woke up with bruising and white (now red) bumps all over my nether regions. The waxing was also uneven which I pointed out at the time, and the woman disagreed with me... I wasn't keen for her to take any more off so I let it go (and now I am thankful that at least one region was spared the pain). Anyway, three days later the red dots are quite painful and I will most definitely not be going back. I hope they give more training to the people they have doing this so others can be spared this experience. I tried calling them for a refund, and they don't have a voicemail set up. read more

I am not a person who likes to write reviews and this is my first review ever, but I felt like I have to do it and try to help and avoid other people's hair to be ruined. I am not sure if all the hair stylists are the same there, but the lady ( I don't want to mention names, I feel bad) that was cutting my hair literally destroyed it. While I was waiting I had a bad feeling and wanted to get up before she started. I was looking while she was blowdrying a lady's hair... so inexperienced. My hair looks like I took the scissors and did it by myself, maybe If I did it it would look better. Now I have to have my hair in a ponytail for a few months until it grows up. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. I can't understand how a midtown salon can do such a terrible job. I am sorry for the mean review, but you deserve it. When you hire experienced hair stylists maybe you can do business but not charge people for destroying their hair. I am not one to review often, but I made a yelp account just to say my experience. I had a less than pleasant experience yesterday while getting a gel manicure done (bought the deal from Groupon). Firstly, I don't know where people getting off saying they are professional because that is the exact opposite of what I experienced. Ira (or Iva not sure) did my gel manicure. She almost made me bleed while cutting cuticles, kept asking about my nationality and basically giving me a geography lesson to say my heritage is incorrect, also said not to buy from groupon but to buy from the store (?), took two phone conversations while doing my nails, and rushed through the entire thing. At the VERY end, I gave her a tip and she said "this is nothing, this place is a jail". Even if I gave her a $1 tip or $50 tip that is the rudest thing I have ever experienced in a salon. I will never be returning to this and I hope management can make some amendment to the manners of their employees. read more

I am also someone who comes back when I feel it is a comfortable environment which is hard to find in my experience. Plus they have deals which they honor on their site. I walked into Salon Vollo without an appointment because I had gotten a terrible haircut (at a different salon) the day prior. I asked for them to fix it up and they took me right away. Raphael (one of the owners) spent a lot of time perfecting my style and did a wonderful job. The salon had a warm and friendly atmosphere and while in the chair for about 30 minutes a few regulars walked in they were so welcoming. Highly recommend this place!! read more

Only have been here for a gel manicure, and I unfortunately have to agree with the other negative reviews. Would've given one star except that they sat me early for my nail appointment and the man at reception was very nice. Other than that - I cannot recommend this salon for a manicure. They do not sanitize their tools!!! So extremely unhygienic and unprofessional. I saw the woman (can't remember what her name was) take out a bucket with her supplies after I sat down and was immediately grossed out by the open/used tools, so I asked her to not cut my cuticles but she insisted and did anyway. To make matter worse, she then filed so aggressively that a couple of my cuticles started to bleed from the friction. She also was pushing so many other things and tried to convince me to do my eyebrows, get a pedicure, etc. I can understand a need to up-sell, but this was not the way to do it - "your eyebrows need to be done, thinner, do you want wax after?" Everything was rude and pushy. The manicure itself was eh and chipped after a week. I can give people a second chance to improve their manners, but will not be back based on the sanitation issue. Do not go here for nails. I could have done a better job on both. Pedicure and gel manicure were the quickest I have ever received. Ever. Pedicure didn't include ANY massage, I had to say uhhh hello! The lady was super rude (Eastern European) and didn't say a word the whole time. I bet she isn't certified or anything. Honestly didn't see where the tools or towel came from. I'm annoyed I went there but saw the 4 stars and didn't read the reviews. Only redeeming factor was it was $45. Owner asked me to give a good yelp review because "they have bad ones because of jealous competition in the area. Laughable. If anyone knows of a good pedicure in the city let me know. read more
