My experience: So I purchased a Groupon for a keratin treatment and was able to get an appointment the same day. Being that this was my first keratin, I was not sure what to expect. Obviously I did my research, but everyone's hair is different. Going in, I was asked which keratin treatment I wanted. I asked about the options and was told that for an additional $60, I could do the Brazilian keratin treatment. I agreed as I know from people that the Brazilian keratin is a good treatment. At first, everything was fine. I was told by the stylist that he would have to "trim" my ends before applying the treatment. Never was I told that this "trim" would be an additional cost. I assumed it would cost some money but not $58. They charged me for a haircut, which I did not ask for. Also, when you cut someone's hair for the first time, you should always ask how much they want. The stylist, cut much more than I wanted. When it came time to pay, I was told I had to pay an additional $118.50. I was blown away but I just said to myself that it would be worth it. It really was not worth it. The next day and the newly cut ends of my hair are just as frizzy as they were yesterday. For the price of the Groupon and the additional costs, I could have paid full price at another establishment. Definitely a lesson learned. I do not recommend coming here. read more

My friend and I went there and the older Russian lady was very nice at first, was on her phone 4 times during the Pedi, didn't take my gel off my toes, my request, so I asked if she could massage me a little longer....she said for more money! Her massage consisted of 2 times up and down my legs.... Their tools were NOT disinfected! The Mani was fast....again, tools not disinfected, on her phone 3 times...She told me the price..the man took my money and short changed me by $2.50, he said tax! I really wanted to give this 5 stars :( I purchased a deal on groupon but doesn't really make a difference because first timers get the same price with the promotion they have. So when I walked in, it has a cozy simple environment. Lots of products they sell from different brands. I came in 30 minutes early afraid waiting in line but the salon was empty. I had wash first, but it was extremely fast. At other salons they'll massage your scalp and take their time. But my scalp wasn't touched at all, and I would say the wash was less than 5 minutes. And then I treatment that stayed on my hair for a couple of minutes. That being said, my stylist did listen to what I liked and gave me the length I wanted. The haircut ended kind of choppy.. It's visible to see where my layers are. For styling, I wanted light waves but it ended up to be really tight curls!! Tight curls do not look good on me, I looked like a poodle. I told my stylist and he gladly "fixed" as much as he could. It still was really curly, but after a wash at home the right curls went away. read more

I've been here three times for haircuts, and I've always been happy with the cut itself. My issue is with their false advertising--the pricing cards pictured in reviews below and that they advertise in store list "haircut: $30-$45". Firstly, that's supposedly for men's cuts only, even though this isn't indicated anywhere. My women's cut today was $52.50. (Tips are cash only and they don't have an ATM.) Also, their default is to assume that when you ask for a "haircut" that you mean "haircut and style," which adds on another 20 or 30 bucks...even though during this "style" they don't even ask you how you would like it styled and basically just blow dry it with a round brush. You have to tell them outright I don't want a style I just want the haircut or they will assume otherwise. When I learned this the hard way, I went in expecting a $30 trim and walked out down $80. Manicurist wasn't friendly, went super fast, didn't even rub lotion into my hands or anything. $25.99 is a good price but a "manicure" should be relaxing and the manicurist should take her time and make sure it looks perfect (there's a small dot/bump on one nail) and always rub lotion into the clients hands. Will most likely won't go back. read more

I have been going to Lasio/now The Keratin Lounge for over 7 years to get my 1 day keratin treatment and the past few times just felt it wasn't as good. SO after a lot of research and A BIG LEAP OF FAITH I decided to try the Brazilian Blowout at Salon Vollo. It's been 5 weeks and I couldn't be happier! I love the way my hair looks and feels and I'm hoping it lasts for about 3-6 months. They were all very kind and I was able to get a manicure at the same time as my blowout. This salon is a hidden gem. I have been coming here for two years now, and I have never been disappointed. I can only speak for the hair salon portion of Salon Vollo, but seriously, they know how to do hair here. Rafael is the absolute best. I have received Keratin treatment hear and hair cuts, and he does such a fabulous job. I have very thick hair so it is hard to find someone who knows how to manage my hair. Nowhere does it advertise on Groupon that the Groupon is applicable ONLY on certain/specific days. Also, the last time I tried I was told different applicable days. I was in NY for business and my hotel recommended Salon Vollo. I floated out of there after deep condition treatment, hair cut and blow dry. I've been to multiple salons in the city, but I do have to say that Vollo is the only one I keep coming back to. Irina does fantastic gel manicure and pedicures. Fast, precise and lasts for ages. Do not come here. If zero stars was an option this place would get it. During my pedicure the woman cut my nails despite me refusing three times and then laughed at me as she did it. The gel from my manicure started lifting off my fingernails within 48 hours. The woman doing my nails was answering her phone and texting throughout my treatment. A poor woman next to me had a hairdresser who admitted never having done it before, removing her gel polish. WORST nail place ever!!!!!! I had appointment at 6pm today and they kept me waiting for half hour. I told them I have another appointment in one hour. And a fat old lady told me the younger lady will do my nails. And then the younger lady opened up but she just didn't take my service but took the lady who came in just 5mins ago! Then the fat old lady besides her got me. when I sat down the fat old lady accused me of not telling her that I have two nails with old gels. She said she asked me if I had anything on my nails and I said no. OMG! I swear that this old stupid old lady didn't ask me ever!!!!! Is she just too old to remember stuff????? Then she started to peel the gel from my nail and hurt me!!!!! I shout "ouch it hurts" and she gave me a face with "I don't care" expressions. I'm like what the hell is she????? Had a puls'd deal to try out this place for a $21 gel mani. They have Essie gel colors. The place seemed very old and dated. The equipment was dusty and old. The manicure tools were just in an open basket and when she was done with my cuticles, she threw it back in the basket. Clearly they don't sanitize their products. The rest of the staff was just hanging out, not doing anything. No other customers. My polish started chipping within 5 days. Would not recommend. read more

This review is for the nail services only. I came here for a mani-pedi via lifebooker; this place is more of a hair salon than nail, which I wasn't expecting for a place that was offering mani-pedi deals, but I would not have minded that if the conditions were not so poor. I was sent to the back of the salon where there are 2 spa chairs and 1 manicure table, the chairs were full of other things on them and the manicure table also had a bunch of "junk" on it. The area was very cluttered and did not seem clean at all. At this point I was hesitant to continue but I went ahead with it. The woman doing my nails took out her tools and they did not look clean. The pedicure was okay but I was just constantly worried about the cleanliness of the tools, etc. The woman was not friendly and bordered on rude during my pedicure. Then when we moved on to the manicure the table was dirty and she re-used the same tools without cleaning. The manicure was okay and although I wasn't really pleased with the service I received, out of politeness I left her a tip; this is when it got ugly! The woman counted the money in front of me, threw it down, said that it wasn't enough and demanded more money from me! I left and needless to say, will not be back. read more
