I set an appointment for today with Sal for my 2001 Camaro. I recently did some front suspension work on the car and as expected, it threw my alignment off. I'm glad I went to Sal's shop first. I do want to point out that they definitely know what they're doing. His reputation speaks for itself. They've been in the business many years they have all the proper equipment to do the alignments and much more. I must say that. I like the fact that they test drive the vehicle and thoroughly explained to make sure quality and Service going into their work. This will be my number one spot from now on to go to for my vehicles. I am not new to the automotive world since I previously owned a large automotive performance shop in another state. Finding a good alignment shop has always been tough, so I am willing to pay for good work as I know I can be very particular and will not accept subpar work. I took my wife's 2021 Yukon AT4 in for an alignment, this particular vehicle has factory air ride that changes levels depending on modes or whether it's in drive or park. I knew this suv needed to be aligned while in drive and not in park/neutral do the ride height changing. These guys were already on it, they knew the exact procedure and double checked their work before handing the vehicle back to me. Absolutely pitiful "work". I called Sal's Auto Sports on Friday February 1, 2019 and scheduled an appointment for a 4 point alignment and steering wheel adjustment for my 2000 BMW 740i. The appointment was scheduled for Saturday February 2, 2019 at 1:30pm the following day. Since I had to work in Freeport during the scheduled appointment time, I had my fiancé drive my vehicle all the way from Pearland to the shop to make the appointment time. Upon arriving at the shop, my fiancé was directed into a waiting area and a gentleman (whom is to remain unnamed) called me over the phone to discuss the scope of work for the vehicle. I explained that the vehicle was experiencing abnormal tire wear on the outside edge of the passenger front tire (visible toe in issue), there was excessive and uneven negative camber on the rear tires, the vehicle was pulling to the right at highway speeds, and that the steering wheel was angled approximately 20 degrees off center. The gentleman then took my BMW for a test drive and then proceeded to place it on a motor vehicle lift. I received a call shortly after. The first words that were spoken to me over the phone were "Tell me what's going on with the vehicle". I again explained the exact same issues that I had previously stated (not new news at this point, seeing that the car was at an alignment shop). The gentleman then stated that they could perform the work for $140 (lowered vehicle fee), and that the suspension components were very "loose" and the work "could not be covered under warranty". I was very taken aback at this statement for two reasons: 1) Yes, my vehicle is lowered 1.5 inches (modestly lowered, it isn't laying frame on the pavement). Although the ride geometry is affected by lowering a vehicle, the physical components are located in the exact same place. Therefore, no outside of scope or extra work was needed for my vehicle (only lowered on springs, not coilovers). Competitors like Christian Brothers Automotive offers 4 point alignments for 100 dollars, and local tire shops for as low as 70 dollars. 2) The "could not be covered under warranty" statement worried me. I was a first time customer at this shop, and right off the bat I was told that workmanship warranty is completely out of the question. Despite these two reasons, I gave the go ahead (my mistake) for the work to be performed on my BMW. I figured since that this was a shop that "specialized" in lowered vehicles, the work would be up to par and that I would be satisfied. WRONG. Upon driving back to our home in Pearland, my fiancé called me and informed me that the car felt/appeared exactly the same as it had before; steering wheel still at a 20 degree off angle, car pulling to the right, and rear camber visually appeared to be the exact same. I was instantly upset upon hearing this news and drove straight home from work. Upon driving my BMW for just 60 seconds, it was very apparent that no significant changes had been made, if any. I looked at the billing invoice that had been given to my fiancé (which also included the adjustment specifications stapled on the back). First impression: Name, address, telephone number, First Reg, Vehicle VIN, License, Odometer, and Technician name fields were left unpopulated and completely blank. The date was populated as January 1, 1970 at 2:58pm. Now lets get into the actual data that was recorded. Data was segregated into four primary categories: Left Front, Right Front, Left Rear, and Right Rear, with 3 subcategories: Actual Data, Before Data, and Specified range (or designated setpoint range). The Before Data fields were left mostly unpopulated. The Actual data fields were populated with numerical values that did not meet the Specified Range fields (or designated setpoint ranges). In other words; this shop DID NOT care that my vehicle was out of OEM suspension specifications (give or take 10 percent setpoint lenience since my vehicle is "lowered"), and DID NOT properly perform suspension adjustment according to the Bentley Manual. For example: Left Front Toe Actual - .56 deg. Left Front Toe Before - ? Right Front Toe Actual - .37 deg. Right Front Toe Before - ? Left Rear Camber Actual- -2.1deg. Left Rear Camber Before- ? Right Rear Camber Actual- -3.2deg. Right Rear Camber Before-? Obviously this data shows actual values. But what was changed, and what effort was made to make these values close to OEM setpoint? The answer is: Inconclusive Data, or NOTHING at all. In a data driven community, especially like the automotive industry, these values are very important to customers like me. Sal's Autosport has photos of Lamborghini's and Aston Martin's in the shop. I wouldn't let them touch my track car with a 50 foot pole after this. I could have done a better job aligning the car with jack stands and a ball of twine in my garage. I will be informing patrons of the import car community to steer clear of this shop. read more

Don't take your car anywhere else!!! I've been coming to Sal's for years now. Unlike other mechanic shops, they take the time to FULLY EXPLAIN to you, your care needs. Their prices are not outrageous and if you feel like they are taking you too fast, they will take the time to educate you. They do not start any work on your car unless they authorized to do so. The waiting are is clean and they offer snacks... but I wouldn't sit in there all day neither. Be careful of taking your car to other places because they will not treat you like Sal's... Today I called and made an appointment. Showed up 10 min early and I pulled directly in to the garage. I just got new wheels so they did my alignment. No big deal. It was the care and attention they took. Once finished he noticed I had some notices on my dash for a parking light and I think a service light. 8/20/16: I was at this shop yesterday with an appointment time to get the rear fenders on my 06 GTO rolled. My aftermarket wider wheels and tires were being cut by the fenders when the suspension would bottom out. I guess the shocks are too soft (another issue). Oscar met me when I arrived and go on top of the job. I'm giving it five stars because I think there is only so much you can do to a preformed painted piece of metal, by rolling it on the inside. Came to Sal's and left so pleased, I would educated on my car about fender rolling and also my alignment.
