Seafood special. Jumbo shrimp, muscles, large scallops and grouper over pasta with vodka sauce. I'm still thinking about it.

OMG! I had the best seafood Italian meal that I have had in many years. I live near Charleston South Carolina that's well known for its quality restaurants and this restaurant is on par or better than a lot of them are. Not only was the meal fantastic, but our waitress was phenomenal. I'm so sorry I don't remember her name, but she was thin, average height with brown hair pulled back. I hope there aren't any other waitresses that fit that description there, so you will know who she is, but five stars all the way around. I come to the area several times a year so I will definitely be back.

On a recent road trip from Louisiana to New York, Sal's Italian Bistro was a total lifesaver! Before leaving town, we Yelped vegan options in the area so we'd know we'd have dinner plans after a very long drive. I don't eat fast food and I wanted to avoid a dinner of nuts, chips and pretzels. Sal's popped up with a review mentioning vegan pizza and pasta with the mysteriously wonderful-sounding gypsy sauce. Visions of this danced in my head on the endless drive until we realized we were cutting it close to their 10pm close time. My co-pilot called and spoke to the nicest lady on the phone who allowed us to place an order ahead of time so that we could either take out if after 10 or eat in if there was time. And I'm so glad there was time to eat in the restaurant! I LOVE cozy little old timey places like Sal's, so it was a dream come true (not exaggerating). Like, just what we needed, a casual trattoria-like atmosphere with booths and dim lighting. We arrived and it was indeed close to closing so we were the only ones in there, but they made us feel so welcome (I hate keeping staff past closing time!) that I knew this was going to be a phenomenal experience. Our waitress immediately brought us Chianti, water and really good bread with garlic & oil. I've never been so happy to see wine and bread. I also had a bowl of vegan soup with pasta that was so good, I might have teared up a bit. And then the gnocchi with Gypsy sauce arrived and angels sang an opera. This was so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about it, the pillowy bundles of potato goodness, smothered in a tomato sauce containing artichokes, olives and spinach. I'm planning to come back here because the quaint Shenandoah Valley begs a return visit but really, it's all about going back to Sal's.

    Huge portions of food.

We were on our way to devils backbone camp and starting feeling hungry for dinner. The sign for Sal's was on the highway so we decided to make an impromptu stop. I am so happy we did because this place is little hidden gem. Its in what looks like a cute little downtown area of Edinburg, VA and was very easy to get to. It was around 7:30 pm on a Friday and the entire restaurant was packed with what looked like locals. The food was very authentic and all wine is $8 a glass with many options to choose from. If I ever find myself heading that way way again I will definitely make it to point to stop there.

We loved it so much that we came back a second time before heading home and ordered another one to-go for our daughter (yes, it survived the 2-hour drive!). The staff was kind and efficient, and the restaurant itself was clean and well kept. This spot has officially made it to the top of my list for future visits.

After searching lobster ravioli online, this restaurant came up, and the photos looked so good that we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated promptly. However, it took a while before anyone came to our table. Two younger waitresses were standing in the back talking with someone they appeared to know, and after about 15 minutes, another staff member finally asked if we had been helped. When I told her we hadn't, she immediately took our drink and food orders. The atmosphere was pleasant and family-friendly, with a relaxed vibe. Once our waitress took over, she was amazing--attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. It was well worth the visit, and I'm so glad I found the place again. I'll definitely be making a trip back!

When we walked in there was no one to greet us, a lady showed up after a few minutes and looked up our name and took us upstairs. She was very rude . The tortellini from the special menus was a joke and super expensive, side of pasta was barely a side pasta and it looked like it was in a soup instead of a sauce . The only good was our waiter , the mushroom appetizer and the short rib . Prices are super expensive and actually a rip off. We found out the rude lady is the owner! That's even more disappointing . The food was not great. The place has amazing reviews, so maybe we stumbled on the wrong food. They don't have a kids menu but have basic pastas for kids. We got ours a spaghetti and meatballs which was a large portion. The sauce tasted can like. I had the shrimp pesto. The sauce was more liquid than a thick creamy pesto, which I normally don't mind. The gnocchi was good but the sauce was heavily seasoned and not super delicious. The shrimp was a large portion and okay. My boyfriend had the lobster risotto. The actually risotto was good but the lobster was tough and overcooked. I only saw pasta selections and not a lot of appetizers. We had the fried Brie cheese which was pretty good.
