It's been a while since I had Pizza Chapel, and I was really excited to grab some since I was at the beach the other day. I placed an order online for it to be ready by around 7:10 pm on Friday. I got their small meal deal, and ordered their mango habanero wings, a greek salad, and their prosciutto bliss pizza. I was really set on the arugula being on my pizza, but unfortunately I did not check that everything was on there. It was missing both the balsamic drizzle and the arugula, which I was super pissed about. Everything else in the order was correct, but when the main meal is the pizza, it's a real bummer when it's wrong. It also seems like they used bacon instead of prosciutto. The crust was also not exaggerated in the photo, it genuinely was a thick breadstick all around the perimeter. It almost seemed like a stuffed crust, except it was all bread. The center of the pizza, where all the toppings are, was super thin, so I guess that's where all the rest of the dough went. The toppings themselves were hardly there, I think. I couldn't taste the cheese whatsoever. It was practically dissolved into the dough, it just looked like from the top that there was cheese, but it was so flavorless and thin all over it didn't taste like there was any. It didn't seem like they used any sauce either, it was dry. I don't even think they put any caramelized onions on it. At this point, it felt ridiculous to eat it. So, I went out and bought some arugula to put on top and drenched it in balsamic to give it any semblance of flavor. Even the bacon hardly had flavor, and it seemed like they didn't really put a lot on there. This was not the pizza that I remembered from last time. This was not worth spending money on. As far as the rest of the food went, it was average. Salad had everything on it, and the dressing was good. The wings I thought were a bit overcooked and not saucy enough. The sauce itself was good, and had a little kick. Their blue cheese dressing to dip in also had good flavor. After all this, would I come back here? No, if I'm being honest. When you're a pizza place, your pizza should be great, not whatever this fiasco was. read more

Good Pizza. Kitchen is small and easily overwhelmed. Last two visits waited over an hour for pizzas. If your kitchen can't handle Door Dash and other Online volume, then don't support it....at least not during peak meal hours. Or set up your system to prioritize dine in orders over the remote order queue. read more

Ordered a take out salad, Greek Wedding Salad, that we normally get when we eat in the restaurant. In the restaurant the salad is enough for a minimum of 2 people up to 4 people to have a nice portion. This is what we picked up and is now the size smaller than a Wendy's salad along with no Salami or meets included as listed on the menu. Questioned the workers and they said "I don't know". Obviously they don't. $14.50 for this salad is pathetic. Last time getting anything from this place! Terrible service since this has changed hands a few times. Disappointing!! read more

Visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch after attending an event nearby. We had heard of this spot from my brother-in-law who had been a few times. The Chapel in the name refers to the church pews that make up the seats in their dining area with tables and the menu has a lot of references to love, weddings, marriages etc. The place gives off rock 'n roll vibes, a bit of modern, a bit of church, and they have a lovely floral wallpaper on the back wall. - Parking - They have a small lot in front of the building, as well as a lot across the street (I am assuming that is the overspill parking, but I suggest you confirm). - Service - We arrived right when they opened and there was only one guy opening. It was a one man show for a bit, welcoming, taking orders and even making the pizzas, but he seemed to handle it well. He got some help an hour or so later with more employees coming in for their shift. - Noms - Philly cheesesteak - It comes with steak and melted cheese, but as it indicates on the menu, you must ask for the lettuce, tomato and mayo (no extra charge). The steak reminded me of that "Steak Ums" brand of meat. The bread was fine and the veggies were fresh. I would probably stick to their pizzas. Love Supreme pizza & Chapel pizza - The pizzas have a really thin inner crust, so it doesn't fold well and the toppings fall off. It would be better to roll the pizza than to fold, to eat it. The toppings were fresh which I appreciated. We were not really a fan of the Chapel pizza. The server had told us that the Chapel Pizza was among their most popular. It was something about the ranch that we didn't care for, but to each their own. Others might like it, so if chicken and ranch is your thing, give it a try! I also wish there was more end crust. I love pizza crusts! Overall, I think it's a great spot to check out for some pie and a pint. I think the decor is a unique vibe...that floral wallpaper is forever etched in my mind LOL. I've only ever seen it online or in print, this gives me some inspo for future home reno projects. Glad to see that the pews were repurposed also! I'm always a fan of combining the old and new! My husband and I ordered a pizza for takeout, along with an order of garlic knots. They have a Sunday special for a large one topping pizza, and your choice of a basket of fries or garlic knots for $19.99. We ordered pepperoni, and the knots. Food was ready in about 25 minutes. Pizza was pretty oily because they have those little cup pepperoni, which I love! The garlic knots were just okay. Both the pizza crust and the knots were difficult to chew; they were just really...well, chewy. Sauce was mild. I definitely want to try their hot honey pepperoni pizza! I would've preferred a little more spice to their sauce, because it was a little bland. And I would've preferred to see a little more pepperoni. I'd likely order a double pepperoni next time. Overall, this is a solid choice for a pizza! Definitely one of the best pizzas I've had in the area. read more

We went on a Wednesday night as they where having a trivia night. They also had half off wings which was great. The pizza was great too.

We have been longtime customers of pizza chapel, but that changes after our last visit to their establishment. Their quality and customer service has been going downhill for a long time, but finally, the straw has broken the camels back. They won't be getting any more chances from us. I've noticed on a few of my recent visits. That quality is not where it should be, skimping on sauce for the wings, forgetting to put pepperoni on pepperoni, pizzas, absurdly long wait times. This past time I called at about 5 PM on a Friday and was quoted 25 to 30 minutes and then was assured by the woman who works there that it would be closer to 25 minutes. We went after 30 minutes and ended up waiting in additional hour. FOR ONE PEPPERONI PIZZA, AND ONE ORDER OF CHAPEL TENDERS. Two things that take about 10 minutes to make. Once we got back to our house, we realized that we gave us the wrong order for the tenders. We got three anemic looking chicken tenders with absolutely no chapel sauce. Our pizza looked like it had been cooked just long enough so that it couldn't be considered raw. There was absolutely no color on the crust. Absolutely absurd. Absolutely unacceptable. Absolutely won't be going back. I had called them immediately after getting back to tell them that our order was messed up and couldn't get through to them, tried them again the two days following and they never picked up their phone. when I finally got through, I just hung up. They're not even worth my effort to get a refund. Take your money elsewhere. read more

Under new management. Staff and servers were definitely on point. As for the food, I may have found our new favorite spot for wings and pizza in Virginia Beach and near the beach! We ordered multiple items to try out and all of them were cooked to perfection and tasted fantastic. We ordered Chapel wings.... let me tell you those wings were LEGIT. Chapel pizza was good as well! Kids wanted chicken tenders and fries. My kids destroyed it all. Seasoned fries FTW! Fresh mozzies are the best! Fresh and made in house! When a pizza place can't cook pizza right, then all of your locals will talk! The place also needs a light dimmer. I felt like I was in a hospital, not a restaurant. It was too bright & not inviting. Really sad that this place is no longer the pizza place it used to be. Placed an order on line. When someone from our party went to pick it up, the doors were locked. Finally someone came to open the door and told us that they had no bartender so they had to keep the door locked. The stromboli that we got was not cooked and had VERY little filling in it....so basically it was pizza dough. While our person waited for the order to be complete the two people working there were taking shots of liquor from the unmanned bar. In Virginia Beach for a long weekend and had to stop by the go to Dive Bar for dinner and a cold one. A bit louder and busier than usual but our waitress was on top of things. Started with a Lager from Devils Backbone, which is always a reliable choice. Started with the Meatball Appetizer--hot, fresh and clearly made in house a great starter! The Buffalo Wings are wonderful and arrive with both ranch and blue cheese dressing. The wings have a crispy coating. The pizza was okay but not exactly sure why but it did not overwhelm like it has in the past. Still hold Pizza Chapel in high regard! read more

I used to love pizza chapel and go almost every week. Since being under new owners, it has been declining and now I'm not sure I'll ever return. Their pizza and homemade ranch are amazing,so it's hard to say that. The experience we had last night was terrible. It would take almost 30 mins just to get a drink. My burnt mozzarella sticks took an hr. After 2 hrs, some of our group didn't even have their food. We felt horrible for the waitresses. The fact that the business wouldn't turn off their door dash orders, was emptying out their dining room of its unhappy customers. It's not fair to the waitresses since their tables aren't getting served efficiently and that's where their money comes from. Y'all really need to do better. read more

wish I could give this place less than a star. ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and garlic knots and it took over TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get not get my order (sitting in the restaurant) and 80% of the tables were not even filled. The cooks are too worried about making DoorDash orders (and smoking weed) vs. taking care of their costumers in the restaurant. I felt for our waitress because she kept apologizing and it had nothing to do with her. The food took so long that I walked out without it and the waitress didn't charge me for it. I went there on a friday during happy hour. I heard they had good pizza. I got a slice. It was not worth eating but I paid for it so I ate it anyway. The crust was a gooey mess and the sauce had no taste. It was the worse pizza slice I ever ate but to say something ;positive.....it did not make me sick. It cost $4.50 plus tax and a waitress had to order it so it was another dollar for the tip. Total was about six dollars for a worthless slice of pizza. read more

Stopped in for dinner with the family. We started off with fried mozzie, and then we ordered The Greek , The chapel , and Make your own which had pepperoni and mushrooms. The fried mozzie was delicious! The only suggestion I would make is put the marinara in a small bowl, instead of the plate. The mozzie was hot & fresh, we all loved it. I can't lie, this is my tied for first (Brothers Pizza) pizzeria in this area. It is located in a center with Back Bay Brewing, Gringos, Zekes and Ice House. We ordered it after a friend had it before and recommended it. BOY WERE WE SURPRISED. The Chapel Pizza is a Buffalo chicken pizza that cannot be replicated anywhere else. Ok. Everyone loves pizza but this is the pizza you want to marry. You know how people usually eat pizza and leave the crust? Not at Pizza Chapel. There is not even a crumb left. I'm working my way through the menu. And the beer is cold and they have the best selection. I have recommended this place to friends and they went 5 times in one week. We tried the wings this time. Oh yeah!!! The mild is great. Not battered just fried full of flavor. So we also tried the chapel wing with the garlic parmesan and you will eat yourself silly on these. Pizza Chapel was recommended to us by a good friend who was born & raised in the area, so naturally we all met up here for some pizza and drinks. I'm from New York, which means I'm naturally wired to be a pizza snob (and I am), so it's rare that I leave a pizza place pleased around here. However... Food: we got the fried mozzies as an app and 2 pizzas to share - the meat lovers & the BBQ chicken. The fried mozzies were SO good, and it was enough for the 3 of us to share before the pizzas. The cheese was perfectly melty and the seasoning on the fried outside was spectacular. I was VERY Zim pressed by both pizzas. I'm a huge meat lover guy, but i usually don't prefer ground beef on my pizza, so I was hesitant at first. It was not super greasy, even with all of the meats on there. The chicken on the BBQ chicken pizza was very flavorful, and it wasn't cut too big (you know what I mean?). The crust of both pizzas was a perfect mix of light and crispy, not too thick and not too thin. Again, as a NY pizza snob, getting any compliment from me on pizza is tough. Drink: we had some Moscow mules and a few domestic beers. The mules were really good. The ginger beer wasn't overpowering and they had good pours of liquor. They have great prices in general, and I can't remember the Happy Hour prices but I remember thinking they were very good. Service: the wait was about an hour for a table, but you're able to sit at the bar and eat if there's open spots, so we did that. The bartender was awesome, and so was the hostess. She was the only one working between seating people and waiting tables, and she was absolutely crushing it. Ambiance: pizza chapel is very relaxed and chill. Wear whatever you want, it's super casual. Everyone is just there to have a good time. All of the staff is super friendly and nobody was there looking to have anything other than a very good meal and drink! One of the best pizza joints I've been to in VB. The chapel wings are the best wings I've had in the 757. Staff is super friendly, and the restaurant is a welcoming place that used to be an old chapel (hence the name). We've tried the house salad, fried mozzies, Tony rolls (on special) and a couple of the pizzas. My favorite is the spin on a Hawaiian pizza that comes with pineapple and prosciutto. They have great happy hour deals, and the new owners are very kind. Great place to bring kids or have a couple drinks with friends. Slowly becoming a regular. Also they sell their dough to-go! We purchased ten 12" doughs for a kids birthday party, and everyone loved it. read more

Best pizza in VB! Pizza Chapel is an awesome local spot to grab a couple beers and a pie to-go after a long week of work or a particularly grueling paddle out. Always at the top of my VB recommendations, you cannot go wrong with Pizza Chapel! The classic order for my family is a cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and chapel wings. No pizza chapel order is complete without the chapel wings - they are a must have! They pizzas are great - not too heavy and just the right amount of sauce. The dough is phenomenal and always cooked perfectly. They also offer an impressive list of specialty pies - we have tried a BBQ chicken one in the past but I recommend just keeping it simple with pep and cheese. The quality of the pizza is best tasted through the classics. Be aware that Pizza Chapel is definitely experiencing some staffing issues at the moment. We were unable to get through to them via phone yesterday to place a carry-out order (this actually turned out in our favor as it gave us an excuse to drive over and have a beer at the bar while we waited for our pies).
