    BBQ CHICKEN PIZZA
    Givon H.

First time at this place, very cool small spot. I liked the inside. Me and my friend sat and just talked for a while and watched the game. Service was good the food took a minute to come out but it seemed a little short staffed so it wasn't a problem. The prices for portions was really good. I got a slice of bbq chicken pizza, garlic knots and a meatball sub with a bag of chips for 21$. Would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a chill lunch spot.

I ordered directly from the website for pickup since I was across the street at Vaulted Oak. They have a good variety of traditional Italian fare (pizza, pasta, sandwiches) and I opted for the carbonara. Ordrering on the site was easy, I did it through guest checkout and was able to pick it up just 15mins later. The pasta came with a side caesar and slice of toast. Even though I brought it back to the brewery, they do have a seating area with a few tables. It's a standard no-frills shop where you cane see the pizza going into the oven and they have a small dessert case too. They served my to go order in a cardboard tray instead of a bag which was pretty nice for transport and plating back at the brewery. Salad was good, had some fresh shaved parmesan and ample dressing in the cup. The pasta sauce separated pretty quickly, the cheese and butter didn't really stick together the way I had expected or wanted. Flavor wise, it was decent, but I think their ratios were off or something. It was a great portion though, I had enough for a couple more servings later. Service at the pickup counter was friendly and I was able to get all the utensils and extras to go. Price wise, it's fair - nice that the salad comes with the entree. With this being the only immediately walkjable to the brewery, I can imagine they get a lot of patrons from there. I would probably give it another chance next time I am in the area too- I might try a pizza or pasta with red sauce on a future visit. @azfitfoodfun

    Chicken Parm Pizza - AMAZING
    Amy K.

My 1,000th review belongs to Sal's Pizza Factory. Why? Because I'm such a pizza snob and I haven't found a place outside of my home in NY that has been able to do it like this. I travel a decent amount and I am always seeking out a good pizza place that can get that good balance of crust, ingredients and flavor. Charlotte, this is it. You have no idea how lucky you are to have this place in your neighborhood. It's heavy if you order a specialty pizza - as it should be. No skimp whatsoever. But the crust bends and can support the insane amount of toppings they put on your slices. One fat slice can put you to bed. I ordered the chicken parm pizza because I heard others in the area saying it was worth trying and I didn't mind driving 30 min out of my way to see if it lived up to the hype. Oh it did. The owner is from Jersey and this place is located in a suburban neighborhood right outside of Bojangles Coliseum. They answer the phone for an order like a NY/NJ pizza place does and that immediately gave me confidence (what do you want, okay what else, what's your name, 15-20 min). I showed up, my pizza was ready and the guys behind the counter were hard at work tossing pies. Beautiful! This is the best pizza I have had outside of NY. No joke. I am going to go back to try their plain cheese pie, garlic knots, taco pie (a rarity on a menu) and the buffalo chicken pizza because I know it will be BOMB.COM. Thank you Sal's for giving me my pizza fix after all these years outside of my home state!

Unfortunately, in 3 years, Sal's has gone from one of my favorites to a place I won't go back to. The restaurant is dirty, and the majority of workers are rude or barely speak. You have to ask for everything multiple times (including items you've ordered and paid for). And the worst part is what they're known for. They have the most inconsistent pizza of any pizza restaurant I've been to. Just look at their instagram. One pie will be burnt and the next will be raw (like the one my coworkers and I had today). I used to recommend Sal's to everyone in town. It's a far cry from what it once was.

Sal's has always been a favorite Charlotte staple. Our office has been ordering for lunch many times lately. They have a lot of options for everyone, and its always a pretty reasonable price. Door Dash also offers rewards/discounts for delivery once you hit a certain total. Highly recommend the chicken bacon ranch and the margherita pizza. So delicious! I've never eaten at Sal's but will very soon!

I have only ordered take out but the ambiance looks a bit cramped, I feel like it's a perfect take out place. Service is good, they are always super duper busy so it's important to give them time when they need it. Now the reason I say give them time is because it is worth the wait, the pizza is amazing! Probably the best pizza in the Charlotte area. I got the honey pepperoni pizza and it was absolutely amazing!

    Two slices warmed up

We were attending a concert at the nearby Ovens Auditorium and searched on Yelp for a restaurant within walking distance. We followed our map and walked over to this seemingly popular pizza joint (it was pretty full for a weekday night, plus they were filling a lot of takeout orders). We had considered getting a whole pizza but we didn't know how long it would take and whether it would cut it too close to get back to the venue. We ended up just getting two pre-made slices, which they heated up and some sodas. This seemed like a favorite local establishment and they seemed to be pretty popular. We were satisfied with our slices.

    BUFFALO CHICKEN PIZZA

Great pizza definitely authentic I've never had anything like it . Paid around $28 I think for a large buffalo chicken pizza full of chicken not like most places. The crust is very crispy but not hard cooked in a brick oven. I ordered through DoorDash but pickup and it's about 25-30 mins from my house and was still crunchy by the time I got home . Next time I would love to try the chicken wings and the meat lovers pizza pretty sure they are gonna be a smash.

Half Grandma Vodka Sauce pizza, half Grandma pizza.
    Gerardo V.

If you haven't had the Grandma Vodka pizza, you are seriously missing out. The creamy vodka sauce is absolutely delicious, and pairs exceptionally well with the mozzarella. This is the clear rock star on the menu. Sal's is a no-frills pizzeria joint, and rarely has more than a few folks inside (at least on any of my visits). But they'll make whatever you want, or else you can choose a premade slice. They'll also deliver across the street to Vaulted Oak brewery, which is a nice service that comes quite in handy.

    GARLIC KNOTS
    Ally F.

Aesthetic: Small, no frills chain pizzeria with pizza by the slice, Pizza to go, and classic Italian dishes. My Favorites: I'm obsessed with the Caesar Salad and garlic rolls, that's my go to. Experience: I've been in here for lunch a few times and ordered out, and Sal's always gets it right. They have a better Caesar salad than most upscale restaurants in the city because they load on fresh sliced Parmesan and the dressing is delicious. I've tried a few slices of their pizza including the Thai, pepperoni, and the Supreme, and they've all been yummy. The star is the garlic rolls for me though, I love dipping them in the Caesar dressing. I highly recommend the Caesar/garlic roll combo, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for great service always.

    Mike S.

Some of my friends would consider this score blasphemous, as Sal's is highly regarded by a lot of people I know. That being said, for me it is just ok. I've found the quality of their pizza to be inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes a sloppy mess. Their greatest strength is their vodka pizza, but those square slices are thick and can be filling so I have to be in a specific mood to want to order that. Recently I've tried a few other items from their hot subs menu. In my opinion a good pizza restaurant should be able to turn out some solid hot subs as well. The Buffalo chicken sub I got was not very good. The slices of chicken were small, it was absolutely covered in lettuce like a weird amount, and the flavor of the Buffalo sauce just seemed off. Would not order again. The chicken bacon ranch sub had similar problems in that the slices of chicken were tiny and there weren't enough of them. The cheese was not fully melted which makes me think they didn't heat it up enough. Overall I think Sal's for me will be limited to a drunken slice of pizza when I'm hungry and there isn't much else. Maybe I'm in the minority because as I said earlier, a lot of people rave about this place. In my opinion though there are far better options for pizza in the Charlotte area.

GARLIC KNOTS So good!! Garlicky and buttery bread knots.
    Patricia H.

The food was hot and delicious. I had the Carbonara pasta. Every bite I ate had bacon in it. The GARLIC bread knots are a must! The service was good. Overall, the food is cheap and good and you get a lot for it.

This place used to be good, but they've gotten complacent over the years. They are always out of items and their selection has decreased significantly. Today we went in for lunch and they didn't have Vodka Pizza or Garlic knots. At least two customers came in asking for the Vodka pizza. We're gonna move on to another pizza spot.

We stopped in here for a weeknight late bite when our options were somewhat limited. Thankfully at that hour, street parking in NoDa wasn't too bad, we got a spot just off the main drag. Slices here are GIGANTIC, one is easily about 3 standard slices of pizza, or two normal NY size slices. We got a pepperoni and a cheese. The pepperoni had nice kick to them and the cheese was a high quality. You had to let the pepperoni grease drain onto your plate a bit, but that is expected. The thing that makes both slices so good is the garlic butter bath all around the crust that you can see them doing in the kitchen. Not just that, but the texture in the crust will make even non-crust lovers think again. You're basically left with big doughy garlic butter breadsticks. Definitely a 5 on taste. My only complaint, and I'm sure it is partly by design to keep people from staying long, the stools you can sit on to enjoy your pizza inside the restaurant are THE WORST I have ever placed my derrier on. Even for 15 minutes, it wasn't just uncomfortable, it was painful. It took me a couple blocks to start walking correctly again. Might as well just get rid of them and have people stand to eat. Terrible. Almost knocked a star off for it, that bad. Regardless of the world's worst stools, I would come back for more pizza and just plan on not eating it there.

The pizza: my son really enjoyed it and gave it a 5/5 and hubby ranked it a 3/5. He thought the crust was a tad too soggy. Side Caesar: 3/5 had some pieces of the lettuce that should have never made it in the salad and the dressing was just okay. Morty: also a 3/5. Too much arugula, we took some out and then seasoned the rest with s&p and some crushed red pepper flakes. It just lacked a depth of flavor and the bread and arugula overpowered it. The seasoning helped a bit. I even added garlic aioli based on a review I read on here but I didn't taste it. The pasta salad it came with also lacked flavor, though very green and appearing loaded with flavor it was not. And when eating it, the texture was very gummy. Didn't finish that. Perfect timing. Since it was still new, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I decided to grab a table outside. The outdoor seating was lovely--relaxed, comfortable, and a great way to unwind after a wellness session. I'm a sucker for thin-crust pizza, especially when it's hand-tossed and thoughtfully prepared, so one item immediately caught my eye: the rosemary pizza with hot honey. Sold. I added Italian sausage to the pizza and paired it with a fresh green salad (I can never resist a good Green Goddess dressing). Yes, it was a little on the pricey side, but the quality matched the cost--and I was genuinely pleased with my choices. The crust was thin and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the hot honey added just the right touch of sweetness and heat. This is definitely a place I'd return to--next time with friends--so we can share a few different pizzas and appetizers and really explore the menu. A few practical notes: * Parking is generally easy since the restaurant shares a lot with neighboring businesses in the complex * There are several nearby spots, including a wine bar and entertainment venues, which make the area feel lively * There was some early parking congestion when a nearby church held services, but the situation has since been addressed with signage and coordinated parking solutions It's nice to see businesses and community partners working together to make things run smoothly. There's also another location of Pizza Baby that I plan to visit, which speaks to how positive my first experience was. Bottom line: Great thin-crust pizza, pleasant outdoor seating, and a convenient stop after yoga or an evening out. A solid addition to Charlotte's growing food scene--and absolutely worth checking out. And if you're already in the area for a class or wellness session, it makes for the perfect post-workout reward.
