First time at this place, very cool small spot. I liked the inside. Me and my friend sat and just talked for a while and watched the game. Service was good the food took a minute to come out but it seemed a little short staffed so it wasn't a problem. The prices for portions was really good. I got a slice of bbq chicken pizza, garlic knots and a meatball sub with a bag of chips for 21$. Would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a chill lunch spot. read more

I ordered directly from the website for pickup since I was across the street at Vaulted Oak. They have a good variety of traditional Italian fare (pizza, pasta, sandwiches) and I opted for the carbonara. Ordrering on the site was easy, I did it through guest checkout and was able to pick it up just 15mins later. The pasta came with a side caesar and slice of toast. Even though I brought it back to the brewery, they do have a seating area with a few tables. It's a standard no-frills shop where you cane see the pizza going into the oven and they have a small dessert case too. They served my to go order in a cardboard tray instead of a bag which was pretty nice for transport and plating back at the brewery. Salad was good, had some fresh shaved parmesan and ample dressing in the cup. The pasta sauce separated pretty quickly, the cheese and butter didn't really stick together the way I had expected or wanted. Flavor wise, it was decent, but I think their ratios were off or something. It was a great portion though, I had enough for a couple more servings later. Service at the pickup counter was friendly and I was able to get all the utensils and extras to go. Price wise, it's fair - nice that the salad comes with the entree. With this being the only immediately walkjable to the brewery, I can imagine they get a lot of patrons from there. My 1,000th review belongs to Sal's Pizza Factory. Why? Because I'm such a pizza snob and I haven't found a place outside of my home in NY that has been able to do it like this. I travel a decent amount and I am always seeking out a good pizza place that can get that good balance of crust, ingredients and flavor. Charlotte, this is it. You have no idea how lucky you are to have this place in your neighborhood. It's heavy if you order a specialty pizza - as it should be. No skimp whatsoever. But the crust bends and can support the insane amount of toppings they put on your slices. One fat slice can put you to bed. I ordered the chicken parm pizza because I heard others in the area saying it was worth trying and I didn't mind driving 30 min out of my way to see if it lived up to the hype. Oh it did. The owner is from Jersey and this place is located in a suburban neighborhood right outside of Bojangles Coliseum. They answer the phone for an order like a NY/NJ pizza place does and that immediately gave me confidence (what do you want, okay what else, what's your name, 15-20 min). I showed up, my pizza was ready and the guys behind the counter were hard at work tossing pies. Beautiful! This is the best pizza I have had outside of NY. No joke. I am going to go back to try their plain cheese pie, garlic knots, taco pie (a rarity on a menu) and the buffalo chicken pizza because I know it will be BOMB.COM. I discovered that Sal's was only like a mile from where I was going and I have heard tons of good things so I placed an order. When I went inside they said it wouldn't be ready for another 10-15 since they were "busy". 20 minutes later I was finally on my way to book club. Everyone agreed that the pizza was just meh. Unfortunately, in 3 years, Sal's has gone from one of my favorites to a place I won't go back to. The restaurant is dirty, and the majority of workers are rude or barely speak. You have to ask for everything multiple times (including items you've ordered and paid for). And the worst part is what they're known for. They have the most inconsistent pizza of any pizza restaurant I've been to. Just look at their instagram. One pie will be burnt and the next will be raw (like the one my coworkers and I had today). We followed our map and walked over to this seemingly popular pizza joint (it was pretty full for a weekday night, plus they were filling a lot of takeout orders). Great pizza definitely authentic I've never had anything like it . Paid around $28 I think for a large buffalo chicken pizza full of chicken not like most places. The crust is very crispy but not hard cooked in a brick oven. I ordered through DoorDash but pickup and it's about 25-30 mins from my house and was still crunchy by the time I got home . If you haven't had the Grandma Vodka pizza, you are seriously missing out. The creamy vodka sauce is absolutely delicious, and pairs exceptionally well with the mozzarella. This is the clear rock star on the menu. Sal's is a no-frills pizzeria joint, and rarely has more than a few folks inside (at least on any of my visits). But they'll make whatever you want, or else you can choose a premade slice. They'll also deliver across the street to Vaulted Oak brewery, which is a nice service that comes quite in handy. read more

Aesthetic: Small, no frills chain pizzeria with pizza by the slice, Pizza to go, and classic Italian dishes. My Favorites: I'm obsessed with the Caesar Salad and garlic rolls, that's my go to. Experience: I've been in here for lunch a few times and ordered out, and Sal's always gets it right. They have a better Caesar salad than most upscale restaurants in the city because they load on fresh sliced Parmesan and the dressing is delicious. I've tried a few slices of their pizza including the Thai, pepperoni, and the Supreme, and they've all been yummy. The star is the garlic rolls for me though, I love dipping them in the Caesar dressing. I highly recommend the Caesar/garlic roll combo, you won't be disappointed. Some of my friends would consider this score blasphemous, as Sal's is highly regarded by a lot of people I know. That being said, for me it is just ok. I've found the quality of their pizza to be inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes a sloppy mess. Their greatest strength is their vodka pizza, but those square slices are thick and can be filling so I have to be in a specific mood to want to order that. Recently I've tried a few other items from their hot subs menu. In my opinion a good pizza restaurant should be able to turn out some solid hot subs as well. The Buffalo chicken sub I got was not very good. The slices of chicken were small, it was absolutely covered in lettuce like a weird amount, and the flavor of the Buffalo sauce just seemed off. Would not order again. The chicken bacon ranch sub had similar problems in that the slices of chicken were tiny and there weren't enough of them. The cheese was not fully melted which makes me think they didn't heat it up enough. Overall I think Sal's for me will be limited to a drunken slice of pizza when I'm hungry and there isn't much else. Maybe I'm in the minority because as I said earlier, a lot of people rave about this place. In my opinion though there are far better options for pizza in the Charlotte area. read more

First time coming to this location since our medical office received their flyer in the mail. Upon entering I was greeted and was told to wait for my food that I had placed and paid online, as they went to get my food I went to get some sodas to purchase put them on their counter and sat down. When he came to the counter he placed the food on the counter and I pushed the drinks towards him so he can ring them up. Instead of doing so I get a "are you gonna pay for those" question which throws me off cause why on earth would I put them on the counter and push them towards you. My answer immediately was uh yeah and then I followed with is that something that people normally do put drinks up on the counter and assume they're free? When he noticed I was bothered by that he was like well you know some people tend to think that way. Mind you I'm in scrubs picking up an order that my medical office placed, so I payed for my drinks thanked them and left. Once I got to my car I was able to see if my order was correct since I was thrown off track with that ridiculous question just to realize that the extra ranch that I had paid for was missing. So I went back in with my receipt and said excuse I'm missing an extra ranch from my order and he was like oh you're missing a ranch... Imagine the irony!!!! Unfortunately for that one mistake on your end I will not be returning and neither the staff in our office due the fact that you would assume a paying customer is expecting to walk away with free sodas when they are spending money to support your establishment. We had the Margherita, chicken brocolli, chicken Cesar, chicken bacon ranch. Garlic knots and French fry pizza... the pizza was fantastic it was hot. The slices were BIG and they tasted exactly like what it was. Now the French fry pizza was horrible it tasted like tomato paste and mozzarella cheese on top of fries. The service was wonderful and quick after we decided what we wanted. What needed help was the cleanliness of the store unfortunately we could not find a clean table and we cleaned off the table we sat at (i always carry 91% alcohol with me) and while we ate our food no one came out to clean a table at all so who knows the last time they were touched. Sal's Pizza Factory totally rates on the actual food part of things: the wings are large for chicken parts and the sauce is top notch; the calzone is only constrained by my choice of filling. WRONG!! my calzone was ridiculously large and beautifully crafted: firm golden crust lovingly shaped and filled with mozzarella and ricotta plus sausages and pineapples with a vent on top and everything was hot and delicious even if it was a little moist inside (hint: the pineapple needs the juice pressed out before baking or my "stuff" turns into soup which is why normal people usually don't add the pineapple.) half dozen wings for $12?? yeah. I'd do it again... not the biggest wings I've ever had but close, and Thai Chili too! thick, clear, pale pink sauce with little red flakes that gently suggest warmth without burning anything down... up? so good and so big and drums are as good as flats are as eaty as drums. seriously guys, an hour and a half for a calzone and wings...? if the timing on the app (Slice) is wrong then you need to fix it because some days I'd rather eat medium food now than wait for great food and today was one of those days... read more

Enjoyed a pizza from Sals. I ordered a ain cheese pie and a pizza with vodka sauce. They were both very tasty. You can buy pizza by the slice and they have an extensive menu. You can eat at the restaurant or do take out. Nothing impressive about the restaurant. Not sure they even took the time to decorate the section where you eat. I did see tables set up for deliveries. A bunch of boxes and take out warming bags. Their focus is on the food. Ok. I get that. I was taking out so it didn't matter to me. They have won best pizza a few years back (plaque on the wall). I paid $39.00 for 2 large pies. Caution...the large pies are not as large as other pizza restaurants. I thought the price was high for what I got. A large pizza was more than I needed but it was only $2 more than a medium so I had to do it, right? Two slices filled me up! Sal's doesn't skimp on the toppings like some pizza places. I wish they used fresh mushrooms instead of canned (I think the liquid made the crust soggy on my pizza, which I asked for well done because I like a crispy crust). So we ordered Uber eats from Sals Pizza Factory on Monroe Road - we will be back in person next time to try slices! Small Meat lovers, small Hawaiian, small bruschetta pizzas. Fried mozzarella in vodka sauce, meatballs and mild wings. Best to get there hot and eat it in - the bruschetta was very good but a lot of garlic, and tomatoes so a lot of juice and I just think it would have been better in house. The fried mozzarella is a MUST TRY - my son said he'd go back again just for that! Meatballs were good, firm, nice flavor. Definitely worth a visit! For me: Jets thin crust BLT is still my favorite - this Bruschetta was GOOD but a TON of garlic and got soggy in the middle BUT I want to go in person to Sals and try a few slices to see what else they have. A great pizza at a more affordable price than competitors. A large meaty pizza will cost you about $22 and comes with all the things (pepperoni, sausage, ham etc). I chose to skip the meaty option this time and create my own pie: cheese pizza with peppers, onion, pepperoni, and sausage. The total was $25. The pizza was huge! And there was not much crust, which means the majority of the pie was actual pizza and toppings. The sausage pieces where rather large and the rest of the toppings were very generous. It was easy to order a pick up order and get it 25 minutes later. We will continue to be regulars. read more

I told them it was my first time here, usually most restaurants will get excited hearing that news and will even offer to give you suggestions on what's most popular. Nope got none of that. Was just pointed to a menu and told to let them know when I'm ready. I got the cheesesteak, it was good but certainly not the best. This review suggests that I am reviewing positively for the ambience, but I never checked that, and I can't seem to uncheck it. So I have to say, this is a pizza, joint people. You grab your pie and go, or you get it delivered. That's how it works. I will say, I HAVE eaten in once, specifically so I could get the pie FRESH from the oven, and it was totally worth it. I did not eat in for the ambience, if you know what I mean! I will say some of the designer places around here do great work, but Sal's isn't "designer pizza". It's just good. It's the only place that is just a regular pizza hang that is authentic and puts out a great pie every time. If I had anything to add to that I'd say this. They have mastered the art of the crispy crust. The timing is perfect. But you have to be careful not to mess with that when you get your toppings. Take the veggie pizza, for example. It's really great, and has lots of fresh vegetables on it. But in my humble opinion, it's just a little bit too much for the crust. It all can't hold together after the first 20 minutes, know what I mean? My suggestion would be to take your favourite 2-3 ingredients and do it that way. You'll get what you want, and the crust will be perfect too. if you load it up too much, it changes the potentially perfect crispy crust ratio. There are other locations, but we always go to the one on Monroe. This place is especially good because the neighbourhood looks really sketchy, so you expect it's going to be pretty dodgy. But it's just not. It's great. And any place that can stay open in this sort of location because people just keep coming back from all over- well, that means something. read more
