I am a little torn on what rating to give Jill's and wish I could give 3.5 because while I think a 3 is a little low, I don't think a 4 is the right rating. I also want to preface this by saying that I think this place is a solid choice and it is not a bad place to grab a bite or a drink. I have been a couple of times now. While I would go back again, I wouldn't go out of my way to go there. The ambience is good. It's a nice space and it does have space for both larger and smaller groups. The wait staff is also very nice and I have zero issue with them. The food is good enough, although not spectacular. They are definitely going for a high end bar/brunch/dinner spot. A step up from a local pub, a little bit more of a shine/elegance to them. The vibe is actually great for a larger group. The most recent time we went, our table got steak nachos, a burger, the sweet potato and rice bowl (with shrimp added), and a steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was reportedly really good (I didn't try it) and looked nice. The nachos were fine, not great. Didn't feel like there was enough cheese, but the steak on it was actually really nice. The rice bowl was really not exciting. There was nothing elevated or nuanced about it. The shrimp was the best part and was beautifully cooked and seasoned, but that was an add on and I would have been disappointed with it if not for the addition of the shrimp (which then made the bowl over $25). We ordered the burger medium rare, and it came very well done. To be fair, when we mentioned it to the server, she took it off of the bill, which we appreciated. Overall, I would say the food is hit or miss. Most of our proteins were cooked very nicely and with good flavor, but the other parts of the meal were just fine, not great. The price point is such that I expect a little more for what I am paying. That being said, the staff is nice and the ambience is good, so for a quick and easy meal, it's worth it if you are in the area. read more

Met up with friends here on St. Patrick's Day, and it's exactly the kind of place you want to be for the occasion. The restaurant was fully packed, but impressively, it never crossed into feeling overcrowded, which is no small feat on a night like that. Parking took a little planning. There's street parking and a small lot in the back, but we ended up using a nearby lot given the crowd. The vibe is festive and energetic, but still comfortable. It doesn't lean into that dark, traditional pub feel, instead offering a brighter, more open space that works well for groups. Service was dialed in despite the holiday rush, attentive, friendly, and well-paced. The owner, Ro, makes her presence known in the best way, checking in with guests and adding a personal touch that elevates the experience. We shared Chicken Pot Pie Empanadas and Colcannon Balls, both creative takes that delivered on flavor and texture. I went with the Corned Beef and Cabbage, a classic done right, paired with a Sam Adams. The menu has enough variety to appeal even beyond Irish staples. What a cute little place! I liked how cozy and chic it was, it has a causal but nice feel to it. My shirley temple was nice and balanced, we started with the chicken pot pie empanadas which were really good. Quite literally chicken pot pie filling inside an empanada and it worked! I love creativity like this. As usual though, the entree was a bit of a let down. I think there was way too much short rib meat on top that the mac and cheese didnt taste like mac and cheese anymore. Needed way more sauce in my opinion, not just the layer on top. Legendary cheese pull because of that layer though honestly. My favorite part of the meal though was definitely the black forest cake. Yummy food and delicious, flavorful drinks. I got the angus burger and my friend got the sliders and truffle fries. I really enjoyed the burger, the sauce was great, however, I didn't taste any cheese in it. The fries were good as well. My friend got the autumn yuzu peach fizz cocktail and I got the el Diablo. The inside of the restaurant is relatively spacious, cute and colorful, and has chair, booth, and bar seating and several tv's. The staff is kind and service is quick. I really enjoyed my brief conversation with one of the owners (Ro) about Ireland! We walked in today (Saturday) around 4:15pm and it wasn't crowded, no wait for a table. When Jill's opened I noted that menu contained Irish inspired items like sausage rolls, fish and chips, and shepard's pie and Guinness on tap. They soon dropped the sausage rolls which were first rate, and as the shepard's pie was made with beef not lamb I ordered the fish and chips which I enjoyed. On follow-up visits continued to order the F & C but was disappointed that the quantity and quality of the meal declined with each visit. Newer restaurants often fail to maintain their opening standards so with Jill's. They seem busy especially in the weekend when a NY team is playing. However, it seems to be in a rut serving mainly burgers and ribs and I am disappointed. read more

Brunch has a lot of options food is good. Same with dinner. For dinner we sat at the bar for some bites. The one negative was the bartender. Younger guy. He was not welcoming at all. Kept disappearing. I asked for a menu and let him know another person was coming. He wouldn't come ask if we wanted any food. I had to ask him and he was so close to telling us the kitchen was closed, looking at his watch when I had to wave him over to order. As a bartender you should be a little more attentive to your customers when no one else was in the restaurant. Maybe be a little engaging. Food overall was good and atmosphere was great. I just stopped by Jill's to check it out, have a couple beers and watch the Kentucky Derby. It was a pretty good crowd. My Jack's lager was pretty tasty and the menu looked pretty inventive and I was tempted, but just not hungry enough. The prices looked a little bit high, but we are right here at the entrance to Harbor Island Park so I imagine the rent is not cheap. I would go back to sample the appetizers and some of the other interesting sounding dishes. The service was above average. read more

Gorgeous interior and a well stocked bar. This place has tons of potential and I look forward to trying them again. But for this first visit my experience was unfortunately not very good. Sat at the bar on a Sunday and ordered the Wagyu beef burger since they were out of my first choice, the Fried Chili Chicken Bao Buns. The burger was delicious (highly recommend) but the fries were tasteless. I added ketchup and hot sauce but still couldn't save them. I also ordered an old fashion and it was pretty bad. In a place like this with this menu and prices, this should be an easy drink to make well (imo). I closed out my check with my plate and drink both mostly full and there was not one check in to see how the food or drink was at check out nor during my meal. There were less than 6 customers at the restaurant so they wasn't bc they were busy. That left me with the feeling that the service was lacking which made the experience all that much more unfortunate. We were greeted with a friendly smile! I was quite surprised to see how packed the restaurant was. It was about 6 pm on a Friday. It was hard to see they were opened, but they were. We sat in a high table in the bar area. Immediately a server asked if he can get us water. We ordered our drinks. I had the Dancing Queen and my husband had the Peperoncini Martini. They were both delicious! Then the woman, I believe who was the owner took our order. We started with the Panko crusted Burrata. Then my husband had the smaller size of the Burger, which was a good size. I had the Ahi Tuna Bowl. Everything was excellent !! Great service! Usually, when it's a new restaurant, they need to get the kinks out, but not here. They are no strangers to the industry. I had heard they own "Jacks" in Eastchester. Which I have been to, once. We came to Jill's Bar & Restaurant with some family a few days before Thanksgiving while we were visiting from out of town. My sister and brother-in-law wanted to introduce us to some of the local fare, so we ventured out to this emerging part of Mamaroneck looking forward to a fun and laid back night out. Picture a hip gastropub but with an Irish spin to it. Our party of six was seated at a bar-height table in the middle of the restaurant. The seating was fine, but it was more of a happy hour setting than what you might expect if you're sitting down for a full meal. We started with a round of drinks. I ordered the Gentleman's Old Fashioned. It was perfectly mixed and the rye whiskey paired well with the mixers. Not too sweet, just the right amount of bitters. We tried a few different appetizers: the Savage Sausage Roll, the Chili Roasted Cauliflower, and the Tuna Tartare Bites. They were all good, but my favorite was the sausage roll. It's basically an upscale version of pigs in a blanket. Cardamom forward, nice pastry crust. I'd also recommend the cauliflower. Very unique and spicier than you might anticipate. I ordered the Shepherd's pie as an entree. This was my first time ever trying Shepherd's pie, but I figured since this was an Irish restaurant I'd give it a shot. It was a truly enormous portion. Definitely would have been enough for two people. Hard to judge against others because I've never Shepherd's pie before, but it was good. Truthfully I will say that the lamb tasted like beef. I wouldn't know it was lamb unless someone said so. The cheddar topping gives it a nice crust. However, it wasn't really firm enough to cut into any discernible "slice" of pie. Nor did it resemble any picture of Shepherd's pie that you would find elsewhere. Once you dig in, the bottom layer kind of falls out beneath the top potato layer. It becomes a kind of sloppy Irish lasagna. Nonetheless, as Paul Hollywood would say, "the flavors were there." It makes me eager to try other Shepherd's pies in the future. There was some room for improvement when it comes to the service. The waitress neglected to take my wife's drink order and we had to flag her down after she started to walk away from the table. She also took orders in a rushed sort of way. However, the food was brought out quickly and the drinks were good. In my view, it may have been an understaffing issue, as it was crowded for a weekday night. read more

Ambiance is not pub but not table cloth either. Sweet spot right in the middle that can appeal to most groups. I won't give them the best espresso martini in the area UNTIL you ask them to add just a splash of Baileys and ....voila.....best spressotini this side of the county!!! Jill's is such a welcome addition to Mamaroneck and the Sound Shore communities. It's what has been missing from the parade of mediocre restaurants in Mamaroneck - a great, solid restaurant with consistently good food, a great buzz and excellent service. It all starts with Ro, the owner, who is the consumate host and works the room effortlessly like the pro she is. She welcomes you like an old friend every time you dine there. The menu is fairly standard with a few fun curveballs (and a few oddballs - Chicken Tikka Masala??), but it's all done well and it's always consistent. They're not trying to reinvent the wheel and I respect that. The burger is outstanding and the fish and chips is the best I've had in the area - by a mile! And you have to try the Irish Spice Bag at least once - it might be the best pub dish ever! Other standouts: Chili Roasted Cauliflower, Ahi Tuna Bowl, Ranchero Bowl and Shepherds Pie. Great cocktails and beers on draft as well. I wish this place nothing but success - we need more Jill's in the world! read more

Absolutely great experience at Jill's last night. Started with an order of Sweet Pea Guacamole which was delicious and so craftily created. The portion was huge and we actually had to take some home. I had the Short Rib Mac&Cheese and I was very pleased. The portions are hefty and the food is tasty and well presented. My wife had a huge bowl of Butternut Squash soup and she was very happy. My daughter also had the Short Rib Mac&Cheese and she was delighted with her choice as well. The restaurant is beautiful, the decor is amazing and the service was fantastic.
