Get it fresh the way you want it. I'm trying to eat less meat and cheese and my bowl was great. They have black beans, seasoned tofu, and then a whole garden of toppings. Simple and easy to navigate menu. Went for the bowl, great selection of toppings and had to go double guac. Got to the salsa bar, muy impressed. So many choices!!! Being the culinary adventurer that I am I had to add a few so that I could try them. Fair warning some of them are quite spicy. Due to my reckless abandon and liberal application I'm not sure which one got me. I may be partially influenced by my disappointment in finding The Loving Hut next door closed for the holiday weekend. I have been to this place perhaps 20 or more times because I really enjoy supporting locally owned places when possible. As many reviewers have pointed out it is very much like Chipotle, Qdoba, or Moes, but tries really hard to incorporate the best of all of them in one place. It has a really fresh salsa bar (in fact several times one of the salsas is still slightly warm from cooking in the kitchen.) They do not charge for chips, generally are priced less than the competitors, and overall give bigger portions of the ingredients in your meal. Lastly, the fresh avocado & pineapple salsas are very, very good. The biggest issues that I have include the following: -Inconsistency with what is included in the menu items. Sometimes an employee will include rice with the salad bowl, other times a different employee will not. This has happened several times with different items which creates confusion. -Problems with the chips. On two separate occasions there has been a piece of hair in the small basket of chips that come with the meal - although this has not happened recently so perhaps they have fixed the problem. -When the place is busy the staff is slow to clean and wipe the tables in between customers. This is particularly problematic on Sundays when quite a few families eat there after church. -The mixed veggies are almost always just onions - nothing else. No green peppers, no jalapenos, just onions. Overall this is an economical place to grab a quick meal while at the same time supporting the local restaurant community. It is certainly not great Mexican food, but as long as your expectations are not too high it is worth a trip to Salsa Grille instead of one of the many similar chains. read more

I am so disappointed in my last visit to this location. They were so skimpy on the portions they put in my bowl. He gave approximately one tablespoon of rice that barely covered the bottom of the bowl. He gave me one more when I asked for it. When she put the lettuce in my bowl she gave me two tiny pieces. I had to ask for more. This place is usually pretty good but maybe with the pandemic they are being frugal. The food is great but I didn't feel that I got what I paid for. Wow! I tried this restaurant based on yelp reviews. Thought it would be a typical chain restaurant experience. When we entered I thought "oh no, it's another Chipotle. I hate Chipotle. Then I began my order. Decided on nachos. Chose the ancho chicken (amazing and better than steak my son odered). Topped it with darn near everything. Then (yes it gets better) I got a mexican beer. Didn't look like they would have a liquor licence. Paid $20 for two heaping, no way can I eat in one sitting nachos, a beer and a water for my son. Counter service so no tip. And if that wasn't good enough, and it was because the food is amazing, there is a salsa bar with around 10 types of salsas and UNLIMITED chips. I tried them all. I've been a fan of the fresh salsas at George's international Market since I was a kid, so the opening of Salsa Grille was an exciting event for me! The service has always been spot-on, and the casual, festive atmosphere is perfect for a laid-back lunch or dinner out when you don't want to cook, but you do want to eat fresh, delicious Mexican food in generous portions. The ancho chili chicken and the carne asada are my favorite meats, and I like to create soft tacos (with corn tortillas, of course), or a fiesta taco salad, depending on my mood and appetite. (The tacos are a bit smaller than the salad.) Either way, the amarillo rice and poblano queso are not to be missed, and the queso pairs wonderfully with the unlimited warm tortilla chips. At many Mexican restaurants, the mild salsas lack flavor, but at Salsa Grille, the mild salsa is bursting with bright, bold tastes! There are usually about 10 salsas on the bar, and you get to add them to your food at will, encouraging guests to sample as many as possible and discover a new favorite. They are all consistently fresh and unique. (Since I don't like spicy food, I'm relying on my husband's report for the spicier varieties.) Also, if you're dining on a budget, Salsa Grille is a great place to spend your dollar. In addition to supporting a local business and getting wonderfully flavorful fresh and delicious food, there's the fact that almost all of the toppings are free, and you can add them in whatever quantity you like. I visited Salsa Grille on opening day for lunch. The employees were friendly and had a LOT of knowledge about how the food was prepared. My meal was so good that I took my husband back for dinner once he got home from work. He loved it too! The restaurant itself is pretty neat. When I was in town this past weekend, I stopped by this place for a late lunch, and I was really pleased. I had a burrito with the chimichurri chicken (amazing flavor on the marinated chicken) and sampled a number of salsas with it and the chips, and enjoyed everything I tasted. I enjoy all of the other "fast-casual" Mexican chains (Qdoba, Chipotle, Moe's) and each has strengths, but I think that Salsa Grille really gets at the best qualities of each - really fresh ingredients, an expansive salsa bar, and generous portions. My one wish would be that they didn't puree their salsas quite so finely. The pineapple salsa, for example, has great flavor, but a very, very smooth texture, and I noticed that about most of the salsas on the bar - leave it a little chunky, guys! read more

My husband stumbled upon Salsa Grille when he went to pick up food at another local restaurant that we like, but it was closed. So he brought an assortment of tacos back to the hotel from Salsa Grille instead, and WOWZA! They were fantastic! Each different type of meat was wonderful (I think we had chicken, pork, and chorizo), and the flavors were nice and fresh. Loved the corn on top. We basically licked the to-go container clean.
