2/20/26 Why venture into a place with so many poor reviews? Why take that risk? A taste for Adventure I would say. The need to confirm, or to set the record straight. So, here goes: Abbie, the waitress , was sweet, all smiles, welcoming, anxious to please. The place is on a main street with easy parking, is clean, sparkling, inviting. But I was the only patron... One has a choice of salsas- I had the corn- mild, a mix of flavors, very good. I had a small wings- Buffalo sauce- with blue cheese dip- I have honestly never tasted better. Astounding. The enchiladas were beef with chili con queso- Too rich. Couldn't finish them. In sum- a pleasant surprise considering the preceding negative reviews- I will stop again next time through. read more

A friend recommended Salsa, and after reading all the horrible reviews, my husband and I honestly thought, what the heck--can it really be that bad? We decided to check it out for weekend brunch. We were the only ones there, which surprised us, because the space itself is adorable and beautifully done. I ordered the breakfast tacos, and my husband had the breakfast burrito--both were incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious. We left thinking... okay, maybe that was just a fluke. Fast forward a few days later, and we went back for lunch--still puzzled by all the terrible reviews after such a great brunch experience. We started with the nachos, and once again--amazing. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. We had planned on ordering more, but the nachos were more than enough for two (honestly, probably three). We're already excited to go back and keep trying more items on the menu. Our server, Katie, was exceptional. She was warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful when explaining the menu and drink options. Her service really elevated the experience. All in all, we're genuinely confused by the negative reviews. Maybe things were different early on and they had to work out the kinks, or maybe expectations of Mexican food vary (you know what I'm talking about, those "chain" restaurants where everything tastes like it just came out of a can from Sysco) more than we realize. This was the quintessential meal for me. I ordered a bowl, to which I added my choice of potato and black beans over lettuce. The combination with cheese was delicious. I definitely recommend! We sat outside on a pleasant patio while I reminisced about my childhood coming to that location when it was Andy's Handy Store. The staff was friendly and attentive. Service was prompt. read more

I am sorry to say that our experience here was very disappointing. Our server was pleasant and very nice, but she was the only person serving, bartending, hosting, etc. I think there was one other person in the kitchen. So everything was a bit slow and hectic. The food was quite boring with regard to seasonings. They ran out of guacamole, which is sad but somewhat understandable. But they also ran out of chips, which seems quite amazing for a Mexican restaurant. Other than tables which had not been bussed yet, the restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms, and the decor is kind of fun in a sterile way. We would really like to have a Mexican place close by, but if Salsa is not managed better we will not be back. read more

We came to the Salsa Grill for an early evening meal and enjoyed a delightful meal with drinks and the lovely outside dining. They now have full sit down service with friendly and attentive staff. The drinks and food came very quickly and the servings were very satisfying and tasty ( they now serve three tacos for the $14.00 entree). Having read a few less stellar early reviews we were eager to try it ourselves and were not disappointed. I think everything has improved over the first months suggesting that they are getting settled in and are responsive to peoples recommendations. I would strongly recommend this for people who are looking for a friendly, efficient and tasty Mexican meal in a wonderful location. So glad to have this addition to our community. read more

We ordered take-out--tacos and a bowl--and unfortunately found them to be well short of the quality we have experienced at Salsa Mexican Grill. Neither had much flavor. The prices have also gone up, adding injury to insult. We write this review in hope that it will come to the attention of the establishment and result in improved taste. read more

Not in a hurry to go back. Our server was nice but was the only person serving it seemed. Chips okay. Guac good. Cubano burrito okay. Tastes like there was kielbasa in it which seemed weird. Kid got carnitas and he was not a fan either. They will need to figure out their service and food if they want to make it. read more

great service- server was attentive The queso burrito was huge and delicious, with the texture of rice and beans and meat and cheese and sour cream, and it might have been my favorite burrito i've had in maine, at least, outside of Restaurante El Corazon in portland. The size of the burrito really made them stand out and i'm definitely go back. They had two salsas late that evening from the salsa selection, and they were good, so i'll go back and look forward to trying more. Ambience was nice. We've eaten at Salsa 4 times now and this was the first time with wait staff. The prior 3 times we've ordered at the counter and picked up the food when it was ready. The waitress was rude and unpleasant in nearly every way. She complained about how busy she was, didn't bring us side plates to share the nachos and when she remembered she made a rude comment about how we "made due". When I got home I looked at the bill and was charged $24 for two orders of nachos when we should have been charged for $10 for one order nachos. The model should go back to ordering at the counter as the waitstaff was unpleasant and overwhelmed. That's a bad experience for over priced bill. The food was good, but the baha (fish) bowl had nearly no fish in it. Very annoying. read more

Really sad that this place has taken a prime position in this town. What a waste. Terrible inside: like eating in a hospital white time, bright white lights. Terrible service and we were one of two tables. Took forever to get drinks. Then no one came back to the table for inordinately long time. Chips salsa guac were all deeply average at best. Drinks overpriced and bland and filled with ice. Another restaurant mismanaged and underwhelming owned by the same Yarmouth investor. Giving low quality experiences back to our town. I'm afraid I have to agree with one of the other reviewers and say that my two tacos were pretty greasy (oily). So much so that they soaked right through the tortillas and I needed a fork to make any headway. I couldn't finish them. They did seem interested in what I thought but offered no condolences, only a slight defense of the amount of oil used. I really hope they succeed because we need a place for tacos and such in Yarmouth and they have a great location. That's the main reason I'm giving feedback, tho negative. The server who worked Friday, Halloween night was drunk, high on drugs or mentally ill. We didn't think it was possible for her to forget almost everything from one minute to the next...Not sure if it was a full moon out but her behavior was bizarre from actually sitting down with us at our table and then asking us the same questions over and over after we just answered her, to us repeating ourselves for water and missing items in our order. The customers next to us experienced the same thing. Food was ok but the flow and service was completely off. This place had potential but it will be going out of business soon. read more

If I could marry a taco, I'd be registered at Salsa on Main. This place didn't just serve me food -- it spiritually adopted me and whispered, "You are home now, mi amigo." The Carne Asada taco? A smoky, juicy sonnet wrapped in a corn tortilla. I bit into it and briefly blacked out. When I came to, I was speaking fluent Spanish and my left leg had grown a tiny sombrero. And the Carnitas burrito? Let's just say if burritos were royalty, this one would be crowned, worshipped, and protected by elite guac-wielding guards. I would gladly write its name in hot sauce across my chest and scream "BURRITOOOO!" from the rooftops. Every bite was a flavor fiesta -- my taste buds threw a Cinco de Mayo party and invited every good decision I've ever made. Salsa was 1/2 full when we arrived. We waited an hour for two tacos and a quesadilla. Watched other patrons receive apps and things before us , even though they arrived after.Tacos were greasy and my fell through the bottom as soon as I picked it up. Rendering it completely inedible without a fork , which wasn't provided. They gave me a $14.00 gift card, which was nice but doesn't even cover the cost of one drink here. Some of their stuff is really good but for a place called salsa they never include any with take out meals. Chips and salsa cost extra. I can't tell why it's called salsa. Service is slow as they seem understaffed. Hope they fix things but I'm not going back. $6 for a to go soda. Smh read more

What could improve? I would have to say just about everything! Food, Menu, Service, Ambiance. Ambiance, I'll get this one over immediately because there is none unless your idea of ambiance is retro MacDonalds spartan along with children running and screaming unnoticed/ ignored by their parents. The menus need updating, the prices printed are not actually the same as on your recipe, not just on one item but on the entree, drinks and wine for instance the Mix & Match Tacos on menu is $15.00 but you'll be charged $18.00. The wine on menu $10.00 but one recipe is $8.00(hoo-ray). Ordered a Spicy Mango Margaritas and specified vodka rather than tequila (allergic), the waiter delivered tequila, not a big deal but just another boo-boo. The tacos themselves could have been good but the tortillas both corn and flour were out of the package , not even warm. The American Taco was good, the Carne Asada was good and the Chicken Tinga was unusual, the other trio Carne Asada was good, the Al Pastor very good and finally the Shrimp taco Siracha was barely edible. We ordered chips and salsa and it was the first time ever at any restaurant we were charged $8.00 for two servings right out of the barn nothing special about the salsa either. Outstanding homemade salsa, delicious chicken bowls. We ate at the Salsa Mexican Grill yesterday evening. The service was prompt and efficient and the spicy chicken bowls . We sat out doors on the patio; several families with young children were also dining at the same time. We'll definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

The restaurant was hardly busy and we were told that it would be about 30 minutes to get our tacos (I am presuming all the ingredients are staged ready to put into tacos...). The service was a bit confusing and did not make a whole lot sense. The layout further added to the confusion, along with the signage saying "order here"... we ordered and sat down at the bar and were then made to feel sort of silly because we didn't order our food and drinks straight from the bar. The host/order here person didn't get our chips and salsa bar that we paid for. We had to watch several other parties get their chips from him or the bartender to realize he was supposed to have already given them to us, and we had to go ask. The corn tortillas, although homemade and delicious, were impressively small which left me pretty hungry after my two tacos for $14. The drinks were delicious and the salsa bar hit or miss. Some salsas quite good (corn and stawbanero), the verde and mango left more to be desired. When an employee walked out of the kitchen with after-sport slides (I.e. flip flops) and socks, I decided that they may have been missing a few items on their employee training material. I will say that the al pastor and potato tacos were absolutely delicious. I would like to have those again but more filling in flour tortillas of an appropriate size. For take-out. read more

Great space, great music, friendly server. We ate inside on a Friday night which was empty except for one other table. (outside was full) We waited a long time for our server to show up with water. We ordered chips with salsa and guac. Both were meh. Our food was very slow to arrive. Server didn't come back to refill waters or our drinks for a very long time. I ordered the tofu tikka tacos which were cold. The tacos were supposed to have tofu, garbanzo beans, pica de gallo and cilantro. (I held the cheese) There was only tofu, nothing else. very plain and dry. My husband and son ordered Korean BBQ chicken burritos which were too spicy too eat. My other son had a chicken tinga burrito which had pieces of fried chicken skin in it which was too chewy and tough to eat. We had high hopes for Salsa but we won't be going back. :( read more

I'm giving Salsa a 2 star review because their interior design was fun and warm. Their staff was welcoming and helpful. Beyond that, our families experience was horrible. Ordering at a counter and picking up our food was fine, but not at the pricing they are offering. Bussing our own table at the end of our meal with no trash cans in sight in the back room was miserable and gross. The restaurant was freezing. The food: took a long time to come for the quality of the food. The restaurant was less than half full. The children's cheese and chip nachos had stale chips with cheese that was so oily and clumped together along with burnt chips. My daughter, who loves Mexican, couldn't even eat half of these. The burrito is a staple in our family. The burrito came out with the tortilla looking opaque and certainly borderline raw. We ate half and threw the rest away. The corn appetizer had corn that was so hard my husband thought he may have hurt a tooth. It came covered in flavorless Mexican cheese and a pile of cilantro. The rice bowl came with plain rice, not Mexican rice. The chicken had a nice flavor but was dry and hard. Another healthy topping of many tablespoons of cilantro sat atop the bowl of food. We were so hopeful for a solid Mexican restaurant in our community. This missed the mark on so many levels. We spent over $60 to serve and clean up after ourselves and leave hungry. My daughter now feels like she's going to vomit. read more

The decor was modern and fresh, the service was quick and very friendly and the food was delicious and served quickly, great indoor and patio/ deck dining options. Save yourself the hassle. Some girlfriends and I went to Salsa in Yarmouth last night. You arrive to stand in line at the cashier to place your order and pay. They give you a remote that chimes when your food is ready. You have to get up and go pick up your food at a table near the checkout where people can look at your meal and cough over it. You seat yourself. Eat with plastic wear. And, at the end, you bus your own table. All this for the joy of paying $35 for a quesadilla and margarita. The restaurant does not even provide chips and salsa while you wait for your food. You have to pay for chips and salsa and guac. I ate 1/4 of my quesadilla and have been in the bathroom regularly since then. Why would anyone pay $35 to go out to eat only to have to pick up their own food and bus their own table? They either need to up the quality of their food and service - or lower the prices since we have to be our own waiter and busser. Not worth the time or effort. read more
