This was my first time ordering from Salsarita's and it was a somewhat disappointing experience. I haven't decided if I'll be back. I ordered the chicken burrito bowl, my husband ordered a chicken taco salad and we got chips and salsa to share. Everything was packed thoughtfully (we ordered delivery) and looked great! They got the order correct with all the toppings and sauces we selected. I also thought the prices were very fair. The disappointing part came when we tasted everything. The veggies were nice and fresh and the chicken was tender...but nothing had any flavor. It was all incredibly bland. I added three different sauces and salt, but it barely helped. It seemed like the individual components were all prepared without salt and had very little other seasoning. I'm torn on whether or not to try again. Everything looked so good and had so much potential to taste good, but I don't want to waste my money if it turns out the blandness wasn't a one-off. read more

20 BUCKS FOR THIS SLOP?!! I am INFURIATED. It's supposed to be a Salad. Instead I was given GREASE SOUP, that leaked all over the chips, which would've been the only edible thing in the bag. Not that it would've made a bit of difference, other than to soak-up some of the "outhouse surprise" I paid 20 bucks for, but ya forgot the cheese. oh, and the lettuce too. We stopped by for a quick take out lunch. It was my first time at this location. This is your standard make your own taco/ burrito/ salad spot. We chose burrito and a burrito bowl. There are some great lunch specials here everyday if you are looking for a bargain. Large portion sizes. Lots of indoor seating. First of all the chips, salsa and queso here are awesome! If you get the combo meal you get a huge bag of chips for each meal with your choice of guacamole or queso and salsa. The chips are super light, fresh and addicting. Definitely a highlight of coming to eat here. The queso is creamy and not too spicy, probably some of the best for a take out chain. Salsa was fresh with a little kick. Great to eat alone or as a topping. The guacamole was just ok. Edible but not super fresh and no overwhelming flavor of avocado after eating. The steak and chicken in the meals was just ok. We weren't overly impressed. The quality was mediocre at best. It was palatable with the fresh ingredients and toppings. I went in to order a salad and never even placed an order. There were two people behind the counter when I walked in and approached the counter. Neither of them even looked up at me to help me. One of the was on her phone and the other was too busy writing down temperatures of the veggies to offer any assistance. I can understand having tasks to get done at specific times, but I don't understand neglecting to acknowledge the presence of a customer when they are right in front of you. Their burritos are superior to Moes for me.  I could not believe how much they were able to stuff into my burrito even when I opted for no rice (rice always seems to overfill it).  They also rolled that burrito just perfectly so that it didn't unravel after biting into it.  If you are looking for a recommendation, the shrimp burrito won't disappoint! read more

I'd never been to this place before and I doubt I'll have a reason to go again I went early this evening after a long day of walking around at a festival. Walking in, I was off put by the dirty floor and decor. I'm not sure if it was supposed to look rustic or if it was really just kind of dirty and westhered! I don't know how long that location has been there but it looked aged. There was literally no one in there so service was quick and efficient. Prices were decent. Nothing crazy at all. My friend and I sat down to eat our salads and suddenly someone was yelling. It was obvious that it was the staff because no one else was in the restaurant. They were yelling to who I would assume was another coworker about making better choices in life. Next, as the girl who prepared our salad bowls began sweeping the floor and tidying up another employee walks in and the girl says "Late again, I knew it". To which the young lady walking in replied "I'm not late, they had me on the schedule for different times and I usually don't fucking close so I wasn't fucking used to this". Now I understood not being on the clock gives you freedom to do and say what you choose but good grief, a little discretion goes a long way. She was coming into her place of work!! I knew both ladies were just joking and having casual conversation but being the only non-employee in the place made every conversation quite loud. Salsarita's is always welcoming happy employees and the manager I think owner is always there cashing everyone out. I like they always have fresh food stations always loaded with product for any meals which is nice to physically see the food product while going through the ordering line. I go here often as I'm always happy with my food and get exactly what I ordered. They have daily specials during the weekdays for $7.99 but that gets tricky because they don't include everything like if you get the nacho special on Wednesdays that price is only good for the cheaper proteins and if you get something like pork like I did they only take a $1 off your bill so the price of the nachos doesn't come to $7.99 but to $9.56 after the tax and such. That's my only complaint about this place. Oh and the chips have a wonderful flavored seasoning on them as I enjoy getting the chips with guacamole when I'm just slightly hungry. They also have a bar inside which serves great beverages if you dine inside you can actually sit right at the bar with your food. They have a tv to watch if you want to chill for a longer period of time while to sip your drink and eat your meal. read more

It was something convenient to have for lunch. Got a rice bowl there is plenty of choices to customize your meal to your liking. The combo you don't get a lot of food for the price and the chips were greasy and soggy. The rice bowl was decent and the cheese was the best part. The staff was not the friendliest either. I'm here having such a pleasurable time. So we just left the gym and started a new diet today. If you work out then you know a good workout can leave you hungry. So needless to say there aren't to many healthy places to eat on the fly when you have limited time in downtown Buffalo,NY. So I said we can go to Salsaritas. The look I got was too funny. I said they have salad items and they may have bowls like Moe's and Chipotle. Indeed they do. So we got two different bowls one shrimp and one chicken. We weren't very familiar with the menu or the food items so Joe was super kind and friendly with helping us. His customer service skills are amazing. He's small in stature but has a great big wonderful personality that's 1, inviting and 2 extremely pleasant. He was so kind in allowing us to taste items before deciding which to buy. He was thorough in his description of how the menu is designed verses the cost. He described the ingredients in each item we inquired about. He was polite and smiling the entire time. The Manager his name is Rick and I have to say he's a really nice guy. At least he was with us. Hahaa. His manorism toward us was one that would make us return with friends for more more and great attitude. By the way this is what's left. Sorry guys I forgot to take the picture before hand. That's what's left but. About to eat it. It was brown rice ( I'd recommend), shrimp, pinto beans, cilantro, lettuce, 2 different types of corn salsa, tomatoes, black olives, jalepenoes, some Colby jack cheese ( I think) and sour creAm to top it off. When I worked downtown, I would go here all the time... but God knows why. Actually, on a related note, eating here made me pray everyday that they would open a Chipotle somewhere in the Buffalo area. The food is just pretty ordinary, and rather expensive for not choice ingredients. The salsas and sauces are decent (ranchero sauce for enchilada is the most tasty). Basically, what it boils down to for me is you have a lot of crappy options, and you have to use them to cover up the general crappiness of the burrito or taco you're about to eat. For the price, and the quantity you get, not the best choice. At least at Mighty Taco I'm getting my money's worth. It's right on the Chippewa strip, so it's bound to be crowded at lunch time. This is a fairly solid bet for fast casual lunch if you're looking for someplace to walk to in downtown Buffalo. They also do a pretty OK happy hour, which seems strange for this type of establishment - but whatever floats your boat! On nice days, the line can be a bit ridiculous. But for the most part, service is quick and if you go on an overcast day you can in and out in just a few minutes. There's also an option for calling ahead with your order, but with the way the line is set up makes it kind of hard to sneak in and get your pre-ordered food - people think you're cutting in line and give you the cold shoulder! The small burrito combo is my go-to order. I usually end up eating the burrito for lunch and snacking on the chips all afternoon. I believe it's free drink refills if you eat in, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Every day there's a different "special," where one of the menu items is a few dollars cheaper than normal. The lowest quality Mexican food you will find in WNY. I have been working downtown for the past 4 years and I have only ate here on two occasions. The first time I felt bad for my digestive system, having to endure this substandard rubbish. The second time I ate here, the credit card machine wasn't working so they gave me a free lunch, which I thought was a very kind gesture. However, my stomach felt like I had just ingested a carton of antifreeze. I never went back and refuse to go back to this restaurant. I can't even walk by the place without getting light headed, as I think its my body's defense mechanism trying to prevent me from eating at this place again. I wouldn't even feed this food to the stray dogs running around my neighborhood. I also heard the rats with wings (seagulls) avoid food scraps around this establishment out of fear that their stomach's will explode in mid-flight. I have come to the conclusion that people who frequent Salsarita's have ONE thing in common...They are all religious because they pray on a regular basis that one day Chipotle will open up somewhere on West Chippewa and their health will be saved. At that moment they can all rejoice and stop playing Russian roulette with the poisonous and unpalatable food served at Salsarita's. Side Note: If you fail to heed the warning, this place will likely give you nightmares. Visiting Buffalo, New York from the west coast, I was in between conference meetings and wanted something to eat that was within walking distance of my hotel, but not necessarily a sit down restaurant. Reading the reviews and the star ratings, I decided to give Salsarita's a try. What a mistake! I ordered the burrito bowl and it was more of a naked burrito platter. The portions were small and the price was high. My chips were very greasy and soggy and the queso was watery and lacked flavor. On the west coast we have Qdoba Mexican Grill and it is delicious and I was hoping this would compare, but it was terrible. What can I say, I'm a sucker ... a smile and a genuine greeting will win me over ... even if the food is awful I may not even notice. Of course, the food is NOT awful here. To the contrary. I'm a big fan of the chicken tacos and I especially appreciate all the tabasco flavors set out on the tables. That said, hands down the best thing about this place is the friendly service. I have come in here during the lunch hour many times and had to wait in a line 30 people deep. Yet never once have I come across a grouchy, frustrated or stressed employee. The owner (or just manager? I don't know) is always there and he exudes a sense of calmness on the register that no doubt helps the rest of the staff. The second best thing (very close second) are the margaritas!! Come in here during happy hour and you can get a fantastic margarita for just a couple of bucks. All the meats looked like they've been in the pan for hours, the quesadillas contents were plopped in a small area like the maker thought it was going to be a taco.
