Everything about the place is fine but I went based off a review of another about chilaquiles taco. I used to work in the area and passed this place years ago and never once stopped but I rectified said mistake a couple of months back when work send me to this part of town and am happy to report that I have made a trip to Salsas every trip since. I will start my review with two statements regarding my experience: I have only ever visited via the drive-thru and I've only ever had breakfast tacos here. So yes, they have a drive-thru and it can get busy. That being said, they move cars pretty quickly. Do keep in mind that it can cause a bit of congestion getting into their parking lot/in line depending where the car(s) in front of you were coming from. Their menu is located directly under the ordering window. Place your order and pay at window one to receive a small ticket number you'll use to pick your order up around back at window two. Service has always been very friendly, greeting me with a smile and happy to accommodate any requests I have for my tacos. So far as my tacos I have tried a few different ones but the one that ALWAYS makes it into my bag is their chilaquiles breakfast taco on flour tortilla. Some places in San Antonio treat this taco as little more than a migas taco with cheese but here they do it right. Trust me-order this taco and you will not be disappointed. I also do love their migas tacos, potato egg and cheese taco (sometimes with avocado), and hueveos a la Mexicana con queso. No matter which tacos I opt for I always enjoy said tacos on flour tortillas and with their spicy delicious green salsa. Suffice it to say that this hole-in-the-wall joint is on my hit list any time I'm working over on this side of town. I went to do a job near by so on my way back we stopped and I parked infront where to my shocking eyes I was in kitchen there was the cook and I am not lying go there and open that door if they have not locked it It has tint on it. well we opened I was the first to see all that mess there was a plastic plant broomstick food and paper everywhere the cook didn't even noticed we open the door. It was a mess and he was cooking away with tons of junk in his way I should have had my cell ready so you can see what we saw.Well the cook finally looks to the door and we were with disbelief what we were seeing. He just says with his hand go around and we did not go in we saw the food being cooked in the kitchen and there was no way we would eat there. So if you go there go on your own will you have been warn the kitchen is disgustingly dirty. Started the meal off right with some great salsa complimenting the chips. The service was a-ok, however the food was a bit mediocre... Up the street @ la Perla had better tasting tacos. I tried the street tacos asada(steak), pastor(pork), lengua(tongue) and pollo(chicken) with charro beans... There is just too much competition to serve mediocrity. I couldn't eat the pork, the pollo needed salt, asada was rubbery and the winner of my plate was lengua. I got the bottom of the charro pot so that would explain the causticity and color of the beans It seems to draw a crowd at the drive through and during lunch so I'll have to come back for a second opinion with something else. read more

The positive reviews & consistently packed parking lot convinced us to try this place. But, I'm sad to say that my husband & I did not enjoy the food. We were in the mood for street tacos. So we ordered tacos al pastor, carne asada tacos, & picadillo tacos. We knew we had made a mistake coming here when the food was served to us literally 1 minute after we ordered. Definitely not made fresh. If we would have closed our eyes, we would not have been able to tell one protein from another. None of the meats had it's own distinctive flavor... no flavor at all really. The meats had been previously cooked and reheated (possibly in the microwave) for our dining displeasure. They had that funky dirty dish rag scent that reheated meats usually get :/ Wonder why it's always so busy here????...especially in the morning and on the weekends. The first clue that this place knows what's up was the line of 7 or 8 cars in the drive thru blocking the parking lot. Second was accidentally walking in through the kitchen and seeing cooks speedily grilling up steamy foods. Finally locating the correct entrance, the restaurant is bigger on the outside than it seems, it's roughly the size of a gas station but has about 13 tables/ booths that seat 4-6 people, I felt bad taking up a 6 person table with just 2 of us, so we ordered enough food to fill the table :) You seat yourself and a waitress brings you a menu (with pictures in case you're confused/ want to order what you saw that other table get.) The food was pretty good except for the chips; too stale and over cooked . :-( We were not greeted upon entry and had to seat ourselves, which could be an area of improvement. I could see the restaurant was trying to renovate, which is great but don't let the hand painted signs on the window glass deter you from giving it a try. I'd suggest removing that (it makes your restaurant look cheap) and replacing with shutters or a fun, plaid curtain. Appearances can make or break you. Good luck on your success. read more

I can't believe I've worked off Rittman for 6 years and this little place has been under my nose the whole time. I ordered a Beef Fajita and a Carne Guisada taco. They were both meaty, the tortillas were fresh, fluffy and delicious! My only regret is that I didn't get a picture of my tacos before I scarfed them down. Good here is awesome. This place is kinda small and seating is limited. We talked in and seated ourselves immediately at the last table available. Tacos were awesome and the shrimp tostada was delicious. This I shot a 5 star restaurant but it is a perfect place to enjoy your lunch break or a quick bite and have some good food. Best REAL MEXICAN restaurant in town! My family has been here many many times when they first opened I was on the fence about it but man have they come around! Their tacos are the best! And for the bad review on the mini Tacos I laugh! They are so delicious! Can't get enough :) They are ALWAYS packed which means something. You don't get customers lined up waiting packed inside and out if you're not doing something right. My ONLY complaint is the look of this place. They need to make it look more approachable. There are cardboard boxes covering the Windows and a lot of hand window painting. Invest is blinds and real signs. Hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. The quality of the food here is good; however, the service is pretty bad. The staff lacks attention to detail and often get our orders wrong. It's upsetting when we get stuff wrong after ordering through the drive-thru, but even worse when the staff gets it wrong when you eat inside. I have been going here for many years, and up until lately, they were my favorite place to get tacos. More recently, there have been a few things that lead me to believe there may have been some changes to the kitchen staff. Came in this place and order several breakfast tacos to go. We picked up the Bacon and egg, and chorizo with egg tacos. The waitress was nice and friendly. The environment of the place was clean but a nice dive kind of joint. The quickness of of the tacos was alright, and we asked for red and green salsa. When we got home and ate the tacos...the red salsa was kind of bland. The green was amazing, but thick like toothpaste...lol. The chorizo tacks were greasy which is great! lol. The breakfast tacos are good but I started going else where for taco's because I noticed that they were starting to get stingy with the contents in their tortillas like they were afraid they were going to go broke if they put anymore in them. After awhile I started combining 2 bean and cheese tacos to make up for the size of the 1 taco that I used to get months ago from them. I have now been going to another Mexican Restuarant up the street and their tacos are actually full like they should be.
