Less than a week ago, I hired Salsitas Catering, too partake in a Hispanic and Latin American country food event at the university I attend. I am the President of Nuestra Voz here a Concordia University Irvine. All I have to say is that they did an amazing job. The food was amazing. We had over 100 individuals come and enjoy tacos and churros. Jose was my main point of contact. He was really nice and very professional. They made it very easy, all I had to do was pay and everything else was provided. We will definitely be using them again hopefully very soon! If I could give this less stars than 1, I totally would. We booked Salsitas Tacos for 100 people back in July for our anniversary party on 12/18. John texted me back with a quote pretty quickly and we were good to go. I reached out to John a couple of weeks ago (beginning of December) to confirm everything for our party. It was hard getting a hold of him and when we got a hold of him, he assured everything was good to go for our date. Day of, they were supposed to come at 4:30pm to set up. They never showed up and they never called/texted us to update us. My husband and I called John and Jose numerous times and sent numerous texts and we couldn't get a hold of anyone. Our venue coordinator was finally able to get a hold of John and John said his team were supposed to be on their way but couldn't get a hold of them. Finally, at 5:30pm John finally picked up the phone to let us know that they will not be coming as we were never on their calendar even though he had acknowledged and reassured us we were good to go via text a few days prior. We had to scramble last minute to provide food for our 100 guests. Their communication or, the lack of communication and for the fact that they were so disorganized is unacceptable as a business. I will never use them again nor will I recommend them to anyone else. read more

At first I was afraid that they wouldn't show because all of the communications are with texts, but the day of my shower, they were on time, fast, professional, and food was SO good! My guests were definitely raving about those tacos too, I think they had 4 different types of meat even though it was only supposed to be 3. They set up 6 taco tents at my church where there was a server at each tent that asked for your taco order and then you could self-serve salsa and taco toppings like onions, cilantro, and limes. The taco meats were delicious and flavorful, especially the carnitas and the chicken. They also set up an agua fresca station. One station was not enough as it got crowded but I enjoyed both the piña juice and horchata served. They also had strawberry and cucumber. read more

Despite the minor inconveniences and miscommunications, the staff at Salsitas really take negative reviews to the heart and truly make it up to you on the day of the event. To make it known, I was not after any discount or special treatment - I was only hoping for fair treatment & good communication that reflects their 5 star reviews. Which, they went beyond that on the day of the event. One of the owners, John, reached out and offered to make things right - which they did. They communicated with me every step of the way. On the day of the event, they arrived & set up on time. Although we were behind schedule, they were understanding and served the guests when we requested them to be served. We ordered their services for 100 guests, added quesadillas, churros, and elote. It is not my first time booking a taco company for our parties, BUT it was our first time booking with Salsitas Tacos and the response from our guests were completely different from our previous taco vendors. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that EVERYONE was raving at how good the tacos were, AND the generous amount of portions they give. They do not skimp on the meat at all! We were so appreciative of everything they had given us, most especially the 4th meat they offered (carnitas) & for someone (me) who doesn't like carnitas, I thought it was so good!! The elotes were also hit, and I'm so glad the servers offered to cut them in half to have more quantity for our guests. The churros also were a hit, but truthfully, they could have used more cinnamon sugar. But it was nice that they took the time to wrap each churro in foil to keep them warm! *Disclaimer: they do NOT cook the meat on the spot. Not a big deal for us, but just letting others know. The 2 ladies that worked our event were very professional and proactive! They were so quick, the line was going by so fast. They had a great system considering the extra stuff we ordered. They were nice enough to put the leftovers away for us neatly in trays/boxes. The day after the event, John followed up with us to make sure everything went well. Honestly, 1000/10 recommend. The only thing I'd change is probably not booking them for strict venues to ensure smoother communication. Additionally, I think they should require deposits, as the only confirmation we get is an "invoice" through text messages, which may leave customers question if they'd show up with no deposit.
