They were very good, but I ended up not getting my food until well after the rest of our party got theirs as they forgot my order, even though there were only four of us. We decided to try it again for dinner because we noticed that they had specials. We both got the special for Wednesday, which was ribeye steak with salad, veg, baked potato, bread and dessert for $18. We were served the salad first which was meh, just iceberg and a little bit of purple cabbage and carrot slathered in dressing. Nothing special. My husband ate half of his, I ate most of mine. After a rather long wait, we finally received our meals, although there was hardly anybody in the restaurant, even the waitress said, let me go check on your meals, then shortly after they came out. The first thing we noticed was the so-called steamed vegetables which was the stalk of cauliflower, lots of stalks of broccoli and a few sliced carrots. The carrots were good. I didn't eat the rest. We took a bite of our steak and my husband, who loves steak, was the first one to say it was too salty. And then I took a couple of bites of mine and had the same reaction. If you remember going to Steak Corral over at Beach and Katella, been closed for years. They served "aged beef", which basically means it's soaked in brine to supposedly make it more tender. That's what this was like only worse. Inedible! I know there are many who love salt, but we don't. Anyway, we told the server and I asked if I could have something different. But my husband was so put off by the experience that he didn't want to order anything else. So all he ate was half the salad and a little bit of the cornbread that we got along with the meal. I ordered trout, which turned out to be pretty good. They didn't put any salt on it. I had to salt it a little bit myself. Anyway, when the bill came, we asked if they were going to remove the meal for my husband and she said yes, but they charged him $8 for the salad, because he ate some of it, which as I said before was nothing special. And because I changed my order to the trout, which was not on the weekly specials menu, they would not give me the dessert that came with the special. They did nothing whatsoever to try to make our experience a pleasant one. When you walk into a restaurant and you look at the menu, you expect that you're going to get what you order and you expect a level of satisfaction. Not only did they cheap out and make my husband pay eight dollars of an $18 meal, they also wouldn't even give me the dessert. They could have done so little to help us leave as satisfied customers. But it's obvious that money is their FIRST priority. We even asked the manager directly to take the salad off. She said the owners tell them what they can or can't do. So they just lost ANOTHER customer. Will NOT be returning! Side note: their five star ratings are almost the same amount as they're one star ratings, so eat here at your own risk! Mainly for old folks who love SALT!!!

First and foremost, I would like to thank an employee who has always made my visit to "Salt & pepper" a pleasant. I have included a photograph of her, so that she would not be mistaken for anyone else. Sadly, she is the only server I find worthy of any praise. I suspect that she could write a book regarding her time being employed at "Salt & Pepper." I, too, could write a book as a patron. Heck, I have been going to this location since it was "Spires." One would have to be "An Orange County OG," to remember when "Spires" existed at that location. It is one of the few remaining places where I can find liver and onions 24 hours a day. Well, that all changed today (04/20/2019). The only good thing about my visit today, was being able to spend time conversing with A Vietnam Era US Navy Frogman. For years, I have always ordered the same thing. ------ Liver and onions, no soup, no salad, no vegetables, fries and more fries to replace what I did not want that comes with the meal. I never had a problem because I usually visited late-at-night when my favorite server was working. However, since retiring a decade ago, I rarely go anywhere late at night. The service which I have received over the past decade (during breakfast / lunch hours), has been substandard at-best. I specifically-state what I want, and I would still get what I specifically-stated that I did not want (salad, soup, vegetables, bread), instead of my extra fries. Worse, for the past year, various servers have actually acted indignant when I would remind them how I requested my meal. Some would even go so far as to suggest that either they don't remember me stating, or that I never stated such specifics. It had gotten so-bad that I would actually write down my order on paper at home before arriving to the restaurant, just so that the server could not make any excuse regarding what I desired. After one such incident, I had relatives visiting from the East Coast, who wanted liver and onions. Although I had no desire to have to deal with the same rude server two days within the same week, I ceded to my relatives' request. Of course, as luck would have it, it was the same server, and she was rude to me in front of my relatives. That occurred on the United States (US) Marine Corps Birthday 2018. At least several other patrons made things a bit better by thanking both my father and me (both retired US Marines), for having served. It is not that I am a masochist. However, I try to support family-owned establishments, and as I stated, it is one of the few places which serves liver and onions. I had not been back since that incident. However, I was yearning for some liver and onions, and decided to give this place another try. I gave my usual specific order along with a request for coffee. The server as the chef if they had liver and onions and he stated that they did. After ten minutes, I had to once again, request a cup of coffee. After five more minutes of waiting, the chef informed the server that they had no liver and onions. To top-it-off, I was charged $3.00+ for my two cups of coffee. I shall never visit this establishment again, and trust me---As someone who is not only a frequent guest on various radio shows, but also someone who is the administrator for forty-one Facebook sites, This YELP Review will be seen by lots of folks. Wowzers I had the best breakfast here on Sunday morning... I had the waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, with scrambled eggs and bacon.... The best breakfast I've had in along time. It was a little crowded there but I know why their breakfast is so yummy. I've had dinner here I only liked the split pea soup, their chili is too thick, but its a cool place to come too... their plates of food are worth the prices because you get huge plates... Finally another choice for a 24Hr Eatery! My boyfriend & I love this place. We have become instant regulars. I work at night & getting off of work at 3am, there are not many choices out there, but we found Salt & Pepper!! The Late Night staff is AWESOME! I recomend this place all the time to my customers (I'm a bartender). My man likes the cobb salad & I have tried a few of the items on the menu. The salads look & taste fresh. Salt and Pepper has been open for at least 25, 30 years and there is a good reason: great food, fantastic staff and attentive service. There is a classic menu of favorites and drinks that you can't order at a Denny's. Salt & Pepper has the edge over even Norms for that reason. Great place, friendly staff. My parents have been coming here since they were newlyweds , now they have me my brother and 2 sisters. We come here all the time the food is good, service is quick, and since we've been regulars here for a long time we get free drinks and never have to wait for a table. The PIZZA IS AMAZING. Last night my fiancée, daughter, and I were looking for something to do and happened to find ourselves here. Time to share with them a piece of my childhood, right? Excellent food, smiling staff, it's exactly what I remember. It's classic diner fare but you can tell it's made with love and quality. My lady got a custom pizza - fire. My daughter got spaghetti and meatballs - fire. I got a chocolate shake and a BLT with fried zucchini - fire. Affordable and delicious. Didn't even go bowling. Just came for the food. I went into the drive thru and ordered the beef taquito plate, carne asada burrito and horchata. Thankfully the taquitos weren't the wierd frozen ones you find at other places. These were made fresh. Yum! Not greasy (Yay!) The rice and beans went nicely with the thousand island salad. The burrito was the size of a small planet. It was filled with the right balance of carne asasa, rice, beans, onions, peppers, cilantro & lettuce. The green sauce was not too spicy and had good flavor. The pastrami was probably in a pot stewing in au ju - but when served it was grilled for a bit. So the end result a fully packed pastrami that doesn't fall apart and won't drip all over the place. Service is friendly. Atmosphere is humble and clean. Do your self a favor and support a locally owned biz. Your taste buds will thank you.

After the errands were done I made my way back to Euclid Street and went to the restaurant. The restaurant has fun posters of different foods describing what is on special every day of the week! Inside I was greeted by the cashier. She was friendly and gave me a few minutes to look over the huge menu. It included breakfast, lunch and dinner! I ordered to chicken tender special to go. As I waited for my meal the cashier gave me my cup for the fountain drink. I filled up my drink and sat in the nice cushiony booths. My order was called, I picked it up and headed out. The chicken tenders and fries were hot and delicious. There was napkins, catsup and two containers of ranch came with it too. Very delicious place!

They also have delicious aguas frescas. My favorite is the pineapple, it's frothy and delicious. The service is excellent, and I enjoy sitting in the covered outdoor patio area.
