I think the cream puffs themselves are a little expensive, but to be fair they are a decent size and are very delicious! Drinks are appropriately priced, but leave some to be desired. PRO-TIP: 1 hour parking validation with any purchase at Beard Papa's! Also, shout out to the staff. I got a free tote bag even though my purchase didn't reach the threshold. That was super nice of them. There's some seating inside, but it was a very chill atmosphere right before closing. Despite this, the staff stuff the cream puffs right then and there so they don't get soggy. I purchased the entire Mashle collaboration set so I can get the acrylic stand and I'm a sucker for collaborations (despite not ever watching the anime series lol). It's a set of 4 different cream puffs based on the characters (2 hard shell chocolate cover ones with different fillings, 2 with different "sprinkle" fruit toppings that taste a bit strawberry-like, and 2 regular cream puffs). Overall pretty good, the chocolate cover ones did get pretty "hard" with the shell and crumble making it explode everywhere. Meaning they do stuff the cream puffs with as much sweet cream as possible! Sucks that there aren't as many Beard Papa's anymore, but it's always a treat to go when I can. read more

I put an order in for pick up which was confirmed by the store 40 minutes before they closed which they subsequently canceled 10 minutes after confirmation, unbeknownst to me. Upon arriving, the employees informed me that they "closed 20 minutes ago" (at 8pm, 30 minutes before their listed closing time). I don't know if this is an issue with how much they're getting paid or if it's due to a lack of traffic but if you can't afford to pay your employees enough to do their jobs then this location shouldn't be open. Do yourself a favor if you want to try this place and go to the location in Koreatown. read more

Stopped by with friends on our adventure through Little Tokyo on a Sunday while checking out the Zenless Zone Zero collaboration. I've never had beard papa before, only sent it to friends as a it, and wow, cannot wait for it to open in San Diego. These are large cream puffs that a stuffed full of a light and fluffy cream filling. We just got a couple originals, but out friends ordered some of their other flavors. Sadly with how busy it was due to anime expo, a lot of flavors we were hoping for sold out, but the ones we were able to try were amazing! we always visit this location in little tokyo! we came this last sunday around 5pm and the girl at the counter was on her phone right in view for a solid minute before even acknowledging us. before we could get a word in she barked at us saying they were out of all of the flavored puffs and only had original. we understood and weren't gonna get anything elaborate anyways so we stuck with the regular puffs, but the way she spoke to us was off putting for sure. i also want to make note she went from her phone straight to serving our puffs without washing her hands, took our payment then went right back onto her phone not saying a word. there was a big lack of customer service as well as basic cleanliness on this particular visit. read more

My nephew introduced me to the Beard Papa's years ago when he work at one of the store in Orange County. We were in Little Tokyo and I was craving for something sweet. Surprisingly, I saw this place and I had to buy some to try if they are still good as I remember. I ordered half of dozen to go because we had to do some errands. The place is not too posh, but the service was fast and got my order in within couple minutes. I didn't try it out until I got home about couple hours later. Usually, bakery items you want to eat it fresh as soon as possible. First bite into the cream puff it was not soft like many other standard place but it has a little crunch to it. The powder sugar added that sweetness and then came the tasty creamy vanilla custard makes it so perfect. Yummy!!!! I discovered Beard Papa's cream puffs in Cupertino many years ago when a colleague brought in a dozen for a work party. I've had various styles of cream puffs in the past but nothing came close to these and was exhilarated to discover they had a location nearby. We've gone to a few other ones and they weren't as satisfying. The filling was almost stale and watery sometimes but this location consistently gets it right. I just get a little grossed out ordering it in person because their employees don't seem to do a good job keeping the place sanitary. The sinks and appliances look like they need to be cleaned and the workers are never the friendliest. We get it delivered via Door Dash sometimes and the cream puffs always arrive in good shape. You can also refrigerate them and they still maintain their integrity the next day, nothing soggy, just pure deliciousness. Parking is great and they validate. I would always see Beard Papa in Irvine whenever I went to get bubble tea from Orobae or was shopping at Mitsuwa or Daiso. (Never stopped by to take a look though.) When my friend and I were spending time in Little Tokyo before KCON, she spotted this one inside the same mall as Daiso and the Little Tokyo Market. She was surprised I have never tried it before and said we definitely needed to change that. This is on the first floor of the mall near the K-pop cafe. The mall has a structure but you can also find street parking. (Which my friend and I did - we chose a spot on the street that was between the places we wanted to walk to.) When we went in, it wasn't busy and they had some of their items but not the full assortment. When we asked about certain types of cream puffs, they apologized and explained that anything they had out at the moment was all they had. (Save for the original cream puff.) They didn't have chocolate or the honey flavors, which was a little disappointing. My friend thinks the chain has been trying to avoid throwing out excess food at the end of the day, but I was surprised two core flavors weren't available for purchase. I did go with the green tea one and my friend settled on an original. They filled the two puffs up on the spot and dusted the original with powdered sugar before packing them up for us. Prices weren't too bad, maybe a little higher because we were in LA? The green tea had a subtle green tea flavor and the pastry was soft and flaky. Cream was not overly sweet and they were generous with the amount they placed inside the puff. My friend liked hers and enjoyed it after KCON. I would consider stopping by the one closer to home if I wanted to try one of their other varieties. As for this location, it was not bad. My excitement was quickly quashed by the rude service I received. I went inside to look at the display case and the female cashier told me I was not allowed inside until the current customers left. I understand following COVID guidelines but her tone was short and rude; she basically yelled at me. Her attitude was no better by the time we were *allowed* inside. She rolled her eyes as we looked over the menu (so many options to chose from!) and as we ordered she continued chit chatting with her associate. He also commiserated with her and chuckled as she rolled her eyes. ANYWAYS, the cream puffs! They were light and airy with a good cream to puff ratio. My friend didn't care for the chocolate one at all; she didn't like the dark chocolate and felt it was too bitter. I enjoyed the chocolate! The strawberry puff tasted fresh and sweet but not cloyingly so. Not sure if it was the dulce de leche or honey butter puff but that one was good as well just a bit sticky (obviously)! This branch has a larger selection of items besides the cream puffs compared to other locations. They haven't changed their cream puff recipe over the several years that I've known about them (even overseas), so the consistent and good quality flavors never disappoint. The actual pastry is a bit on the dry side though, and it's a bit messy to eat because the filling oozes out everywhere when you bite down. One of the last few shops I've seen around. My local Beard Papa closed in Arcadia so I was very relieved to come back to this one! I love that fill their cream puffs right in front of you and it always taste very fresh. I hadn't been to this one in a very long time. The mall has been on a bit of a decline and the beard papas seems to have been affected by it too. The shop is pretty dim lit, they were out of ice cream and the tables out front were not clean. Nevertheless, the cashier was still very friendly while running the shop solo, the product was just as tasty as I remember and we had a nice quiet time outside in front. Parking is only a few dollars at the parking lot that is attached just behind the building. If you can't find any it is free on the streets after a certain hour. read more

Wanted to leave a review because I was there today (24th of December 2024) to place a last minute order, and just had to appreciate the customer service I received. The two girls there were so sweet, kind, and especially patient. I was at the mall all day with my family of 4 and we saw how packed it was and decided to come back later in the day because there was a big order that just was placed and the woman ordering was giving the cashier (tall girl with long brown hair and brown lashes) a hard time just for fun of it. Purposely rushing and being very rude to the employee and I appreciated how she was so respectful and handled the situation by killing the woman with kindness and completing her order accordingly. I came back later before we left the mall to buy 12 puffs and the same tall girl with ( brown hair and lashes) was there working with another little girl with (purple hair and glasses). Both girls greeted me and my family and they were happy to answer all of our questions and they were even understanding of my crying baby. Best customer service ever. This isn't my first time here but everytime I come the girls here are always spot on with customer service. So I had to write this review and appreciate the customer service that is served here! Yummy cream puffs! This is the second time I've been here and the cream puffs are so good! This time I got a dulce de leche cream puff shell with the strawberry filling. Strawberry flavor is so good and very creamy. The caramel is sticky but worth it because it adds to the cream puff! I wouldn't recommend getting the cookie shell because it tastes the same and just is an extra charge for no reason in my opinion. The vanilla and strawberry cream are better than the hazelnut flavor in my opinion.
