So glad they added a S&S to MB. Love their creative ice cream flavors that drop each month as well as their classics. A block or two off the strand, this is a great place to grab some ice cream while on a walk or when at the beach. Their ice cream scoops are a bit expensive but well worth it in my opinion. There's always a line here and not much room to eat inside the shop, but they do offer free samples of anything you want to try. read more

I haven't don't many reviews lately but felt compelled to do this one. I was excited to try Salt & Straw tonight. The line was rather long but thought it would be worth the wait. After waiting for 10mins in line, a worker behind the counter started helping folks in back of me to quicken the process. When I spoke up that I was in line ahead of them I was completely ignored. Then another worker behind the counter helped another party behind me in line as I was right up at the counter. I again mentioned I was in line and skipped over. No response. I therefore left. Not worth going back after this. I suggest everyone drive to Manhattan Village & give their business to Handel's where they value customers & run a good business. read more

I stood in the long line, etc. I ordered the coffee and nuts.. the coffee flavor and the crunch was amazing, however the ice cream itself tasted almost burnt or spoiled. Unfriendly staff. My husband and I came in tonight in the middle of a storm at around 9:45. As I proceeded to order, the short woman with a beanie stared at me as if I were some kind of pest. Not a single smile. We were clearly not welcome, although we were the only customers. She made me feel so uncomfortable I didn't even want my ice cream lol. I literally order from here weekly on postmates and although the pints cost about $13 each it is so worth it to have my all time favorite ice cream delivered. My personal favorites are the salted malted cookie dough and the seasonal almond brittle with salted ganache that I wish was a permanent flavor. I did not really care for their vegan series as most of the ice cream tasted like coconut but overall a really amazing ice cream shop. The workers are very attentive and kind. Don't be discouraged by the long line it is so worth the wait. The ambiance is very clean and well lit. Again, the line can go into the street but it moves pretty quickly. read more

This ice cream shoppe has unique flavors. It's pricey but worth it! I'd like to try some of the seasonal flavors when I return, especially around Halloween! I'm looking forward to visiting the Manhattan Beach location since it's closer to where I live. I visited the West Hollywood location and service was fast. There are seats outside and seems to be dog friendly since owners had their dogs sitting with them while eating ice cream. read more

Salt and straw is my favorite Ice cream so I was extremely disappointed when I took a spoonful of my ice cream to find someone's earring that was green and corroded in the ice cream. This was truly disgusting, not sure if this had fell in during the day or manufacturing but salt and straw should have better protocols. The employees replaced the ice cream but didn't ensure it came from a new batch so who knows maybe everyone else was eating contaminated ice cream last Sunday. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning to any salt and straw location. read more

We absolutely love Salt and Straw and have visited the locations at downtown Disney and Abbott Kinney. While there is always a long line the like usually moves fast because they are fully staffed. While the ice cream was great as usual I would suggest this location get more staff. We waited about 45 minutes to finally get ice cream which was way longer than we are used to waiting. It was not the staffs fault. Our server was very friendly and in great spirits but you could tell she was overwhelmed..... they all were. There was only 3 people staffed and they needed to serve customers, be cashiers, and make waffle cones for a long line of hungry customers. Overall pros - excellent ice cream, reasonably priced, great customer service. Cons - Need more staff. read more

The best way to end a trip to manhattan beach is with a cold dessert. After spending the morning at the beach and making the uphill journey back up to our car we decided to stop by Salt & Straw. We were welcomed by the people behind the counter and given time to check out the flavors. There are few tables but we were able to get a seat easily. The workers were very kind and suggested great flavors and some of their personal favorites. The sample spoons here are metal and they have little slots under the counter to return them. We got a coffee & love nuts in a cone and a peanut butter brittle caramel fudge. I'm not a fan of coffee but my fiancé described it as one of the best coffee flavored ice creams she's ever had. I had the peanut butter brittle caramel fudge which uses a vegan base (they use coconut milk as the base) and it was VERY good. You don't really taste the coconut at all. The crunch from the brittle was a nice texture change from the creaminess of the ice cream. The sweetness from the caramel was also not overpowering. It looks like there are seasonal flavors and certain flavors that rotate out. We will definitely visit again to try other flavors. read more
