This review is for their seasonal strawberry whip cake. We order Susie cakes for all of our special occasions. Some of their frosting/cakes can be quite sweet, but they hit it out of the park with their strawberry whip cake! The cake is filled with soft whipped cream between every layer from top to bottom. There's also chunks of strawberry and the cake itself is soft, airy, and moist. It doesn't look the most aesthetic, but it's my favorite by far! Well done! read more

TL;DR - tried a slice of their multilayered chocolate cake and 4 cupcakes. They were all perfect and not overbearingly sweet. The sweetness of the cupcakes and cakes from SusieCakes is PERFECT. Just the way I like them! In fact, I love them enough to finish the frosting on the cake and cupcakes lol. They have a wide variety of options here. We got a slice of their multilayered chocolate cake and 4 cupcakes. They were all fantastic and I really wish I got more. My family loved each one as well and only had good things to say The service was quick and friendly too. I've always enjoyed everything from cupcakes, cookies, mini cupcakes, and their signature flavors. That start with how great this place smells the moment you walk in the door. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help out and I am so in love with all the seasonal flavors that continue to make their way back each year I have officially adopted the red velvet cake into my holiday celebrations. It is our 3-4th time coming here and my kids love the red velvet cake. I usually get different flavored cup cakes but I don't really care for them, they feel a little too sugary for my liking but the red velvet cake is just perfect! I went to pick up some goodies on Halloween from my local Susie Cakes and I was in for a delight. It turns out it was the last day they had their salted caramel cupcakes and the wonderful person helping me out highly recommended them. One of my favorite places for a good slice of cake. I usually get the marble or old fashioned chocolate. Delicious, moist, and consistent every time. It seems a little pricey for around $8-9 per slice, but the slice is so big that it's worth it. It's really like 2 slices so it's a good deal. Their buttercream is on the sweet side but I like my dessert sweet. The slice is usually chilled and I think they tell you to enjoy it at room temp, but I think it's great cold too. This location in Manhattan village is great because you can take your cake and go enjoy it by the fountains. They have a couple tables in their little patio area as well. Looking forward to trying more of their items but it's hard to pass on their cakes. Whole cake prices are pretty reasonable as well. Hope you try it out and enjoy! read more

Nice small little bakery tucked away in the Manhattan village mall. It would be easy to miss if you didn't it was there! I ate my cupcake so fast I forgot to take a picture. I had the strawberry lemonade cupcake and it was soft and moist and the strawberry's weren't soggy or too dry. You can never go wrong with SusieCakes! As a self-proclaimed sweetaholic, I absolutely love their treats. SusieCakes just nails it every time. I usually grab a few cupcakes and sometimes a random treat like a brownie, pudding, or whatever else they have available that day. The only thing they're missing is coffee, haha! Their cupcakes are always moist and delicious! My favorites have to be the chocolate and red velvet; so good! The mini cupcakes are perfect for a quick sweet fix. The staff is always so nice and welcoming; I'm always greeted with a smile and a friendly hello, which makes me want to buy even more, haha. There's little to no disappointment when it comes to Susie Cakes. I mean who doesn't enjoy two slices of cake during a work lunch? I stopped by Susie Cakes with a colleague on a weekend at around noon. The bakery was empty except for two servers who were polite. I ordered two slices of cake: coconut and berry. The coconut cake was delicious! Honestly, I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. The berry cake was good but not as a delightful as the coconut. I think I prefer the Whole Foods berry cake!?! The berry cake from Susie's has an underlying liquor profile that leaves me a bit confused. Maybe their vanilla extract is higher quality which leads to the liquor flavor? It's not bad just unexpected. The bakery is situated in a lovey Spanish-colonial plaza with a waterfall and seats. It's a delightful spot. Highly recommend stopping by Susie's to share a slice of cake with someone. Remember to bring your own water, milk, or coffee! read more

There aren't many gluten free cupcakes out there but SusieCakes has one of the best flourless cupcakes out there! I'm addicted to the icing. However last year, I had purchased customized cupcakes with hand drawn zodiac signs for guests to a bridal shower. They did so well and it was a huge hit! After that, I've become a regular. I placed an order for a smash cake to be picked up the next day (they require a 24 hour notice). I knew I wanted very specific sprinkles and for it to be only on the sides but not on the top so I called them directly to make my request. I had some inspo pics which they told me I could email to them. They assured me that it could be done! Yay! I came to pick up my cake right when they opened. And I couldn't resist also getting a slice of carrot cake! The carrot cake was very delicious even though it has some ingredients that I don't love (pecans and raisins), but it all worked very well together. It was moist enough and the cake wasn't too sweet. Def can't wait to come back for more! The smash cake came out exactly how I wanted it! Birthday funfetti cake with white buttercream. The sprinkles were perfect! You can actually feed a good amount of people surprisingly, but mostly because the buttercream was VERY sweet so no need to give each person a big slice. I went to Susie Cakes two weeks and purchased a slice of marble cake. I brought the cake home and when I got ready to eat it, the cake was stale. It was very hard and appeared to be very old. There was no softness to it. I was very disappointed, especially since I don't live close to this location I did a complaint on their website and I still have not heard anything from anyone. I also found their email address and emailed them just saying the same and to this day I have not heard from anyone. They could at least have the decency to make it right by giving me another slice of cake as a replacement. I have been going here for years and this is very disappointing. read more
