Small portions, slow service (mostly because it's understaffed), mediocre flavor and food is lukewarm when it comes out. Fries are soggy. Come here if you're ready to disappoint yourself and wait a really long time. Got delivery from here on a Thursday night, the delivery was quick although it was through Uber Eats. We got two double cheese burgers, one with hot peppers, a side of onion rings, and a side of French fries, the burger was very wet but watery not greasy, perhaps their veggies were too wet when they put them on the burger, either way, dripping with clear non greasy water, odd. The meat was thick, less smashed than a traditional smash but still good, thick in the right way. The hot peppers were banana peppers although that is not specifically said anywhere I could find. I would have preferred jalapeños but it was good. The fries, they were simple, I ordered extra "special sauce" aka relish, ketchup, and mayo, and some cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was banging, if people say that. Overall mediocre but not bad. NADC is probably better. read more

I placed my ordered and waited seemed like forever to get my food. When I did get my order i was handed the wrong order. I had to wait another 10 minutes. Finally get my ordered and my fries tasted like they dumped in salt. I guess that's why this place is named Salt Burgers & Fries. My burger was greasy and sloppy made. The flavors just weren't there for me and I could barely taste the special sauce on my burgers. I really should of asked for a refund. Tried SALT for the first time this weekend! I really like the simplicity of the concept. Not all burgers need 100+ toppings or add ons. The prices are moderate/ affordable for today's economy. Please note all things are à la carte. I paid about $11 and some change for a single patty burger and fuego fries. Not bad - I've paid way more for less. I liked the seasoning of the burger. The special sauce is some similar to that of a Big Mac. While this burger wasn't super amazing, I like it because it's fresh and good quality for a decent price. Fast yet respectful customer service. Salt was inside a building with a cream puff place. There menu was simple, a patty or two figure out your topping with peppers or not (which was different) and the sides which was fries or onion rings and something to drink. I ordered the single patty with the peppers on it and my boo ordered the two patties with peppers and we ordered ghost pepper flavored onion rings. The burgers were like smash burgers and they were sooooo good the taste of the burger itself with the toppings AND the peppers gave it another flavor and an added spice *chefs kiss*. Dipping them in the Salt Sauce definitely elevated them, so I'm glad I got that extra side. Watched a video of this burger joint, everything looked good and I started to crave it. Turns out it was close by, so I stopped in during lunch. Fortunately, it did not disappoint the burger was fantastic. The burger came together with their sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, pickles and tomato. I added banana peppers, the same onces that they put on the Salt fries, which were also good. I ate everything and since I went with the single patty, I didn't feel overly stuffed. Also saw some cool options like the lettuce wrap option along with grilled onions instead of buns. It's a small place and you order via a kiosk,takes the personal touch away but I did mind it too much. If you have a sweet tooth, this location is in the same place as Beard Papa's. I was debating between giving this place a 3 or 4 star review. Still not a big fan of ordering from a screen and then get asked to tip and the end. The service? There is no service. You place your order on the screen and then they call your order number and walk away. There's no thank you or eye contact. And there's also no condiments outside either. The burger though. That's a different story. Screw the customer service I guess. As long as the food is good, sometimes in the end, that's all that really matters. It was a very delicious burger indeed. The patty tasted fresh and was seasoned perfectly. Would definitely be returning for this fairly priced burger. We also ordered their Fuego fries. These were definitely spicy. This place was laid back just your fast casual fry and burger place. I was so happy to see they had impossible burgers on the menu. When you come in, your place your order at the kiosk and they give you a number. Find a table to sit at and wait until your number is called. The fries I got had cheese and hot peppers on them and they were yummy! My burger was good up until I saw red pieces in the meat and I realized after I ate it, they gave me a real burger-I was pissed. My husband said his burger was ok, kind of tough in some places where he ate but overall it's NO for me! How do you give someone a real burger that's red when the order was placed for a plant based burger. I didn't even realize it was red until near the end of eating it. Such a shame. Even when eating real meat, I want my burger meat to be well done! I am just glad I didn't get sick. Back to the incident, the worker made direct eye contact with me after bringing the SALT fries back to the counter to show the hum the nasty piece hair. The inside was dirty. The tables were all over the place and the floors were gross. It was pretty busy so finding a table was a challenge. They do share the space with a dessert place so not sure who has the cleaning duties, but by the looks of it no one had cleaned in a while. Catching up on Yelp reviews for 2024. I visited here around 8:45pm on a Sunday night back in January after drinking in Old Town. I used to live in the neighborhood and the reviews are good so I was excited to try! The place is completely contactless and the system asks for a tip. I am not a huge fan of 100% contactless as there is no personal interaction, but I understand why businesses do it as it increases efficiencies and it saves money in the long run. There were some people here and it was mostly high schoolers. Cool vibe and I can see it trending on Instagram (I believe they have good social media marketing). Food came out extremely fast, which was a plus! Presentation on the outside was good. Bun is Brioche so it held together well and it was fresh, but it lacked some flavor. Burger patty was extremely dry and no juice since they smashed the s*** out of it. I realize it's a smashburger, but there are ways to keep the juices in. Unfortunately the burger was extremely bad because of this. Toppings are the saving grace for this burger and the best part. Sauce had good flavor (In-n-Out animal style), the cheese was very gooey and had good flavor, the pickles had flavor but zero crunch, and the shredded lettuce was ok. Bun: 5 Burger: 0 Toppings: 7 Overall: 4.0 The Salt Fries were good and they had hot peppers, which was a nice touch, but you have like spicy as they had a good kick. Overall, this was a very disappointing burger and maybe it was a bad night given the reviews. The meal was $16 for a Double Cheeseburger, Salt Fries, and fountain drink. So actually not a bad price for Chicago. However, I would rather have a quarter pounder with cheese, fries, and a drink at McDonald's for $12 over this for the price point. Salt is extremely comparable to Bianca's Burgers, which is also mid at best. But Bianca's Burgers is the same price and has much bigger portion sizes. I think at best this is a good option for a drunk food spot, but that is about it, IMO.
