Came for a night out away from the kids. The atmosphere was very nice (dim lit, set by the Navesink River). It did get loud as the night went along. The server, Shawnee, was very attentive and made the night very enjoyable. The food was exceptional Filet Mingon, Butterscotch Custard, and the to-die-for Chocolate Soufflé (ordered at beginning of meal to avoid 25 min wait). The Garlic Bread was delicious! Solid 4 stars. Promptly seated upon entry, service was professional and friendly, and view was as advertised, a nice bucolic nautical view of the Navesink River. Noise level high, but tables were spaced apart, not on top of each, so conversation was possible and private. Clam chowder full of flavor and clams, appetizers of bacon wrapped shrimp and ahi tower were tasty and good portions. Girlfriend had the crab cake, very good, myself the halibut, mesquite grilled, grill man was on point, perfectly cooked with grill marks and the subtle woodsy flavor in the fillet. My wife and I went here for dinner last Saturday night and really enjoyed it. The main dining room is spacious and nice and the food was really good. I enjoyed the Prime Rib and my wife enjoyed her filet. The service was attentive and friendly. We came in last night and everything was delicious. It was my son's Birthday and he had the ribs last year and wanted them again. Best ribs he has ever had.. lobstet bisque was great. Sunday brunch was delicious!! Tim was a wonderful waiter. He was very attentive and a hard worker! My only complaint is that the Facebook post from a week ago stated the unlimited mimosas. When we inquired about it three days after the post was made, they said yes, with the purchase of brunch. But when i asked for clarification, nobody responded. That's poor customer service when Salt Creek knew they were wrong by advertising "unlimited" mimosas. Next time update the Facebook page if it's not accurate. I would've liked a response. read more

I am such a fan of their happy hour,but their brunch falls short. The selection is great, but the twice now the food was tasteless and cold. Even the ordered eggs Benedict left a lot to be desired, plus completely cold. Our seating was 11am, so everything should have been hot and fresh. Good News! Last night we had the most delicious dinner! Our server was Mike P and not only did he remember us from the last time he catered to all our VERY SPECIFIC needs. Both my wife and I are gluten free and my dad is kosher. Mike P made sure all our concerns were addressed and even brought out two toasted gluten free rolls so we weren't starving looking at everyone else's delicious cheese bread! Salt Creek Grille - New American Near Me - Rumson, New Jersey

We hadn't been to Salt Creek Grille in many years. I had friends in town and wanted to take them to a nice place on the water. We had a great dinner. Started with our waiter, Gerard, who was super friendly and even gave my husband a small taste of the seafood chowder when he wasn't sure if he wanted an entire bowl. The service was outstanding. We redeemed a coupon on Yelp for a free flatbread appetizer which was delicious and was more than enough for the four of us. We also had the homemade potato chips which are served warm with their homemade onion dip. Amazing! The service was prompt and efficient...the view was excellent. All of our entrees arrived at the same time and were hot and looked as appetizing as they tasted. Two of us had the crabcake dinner and the others had the monkfish special. I'm sure our time between visits will not be as long as it had this time...can't wait to go back! read more

This was our second time visiting this restaurant this past Sunday, which has compelled me writing this review. When I initially made the reservation via Yelp, I had requested a table overlooking the river. First off when I made the reservation I expected the restaurant to properly manage the reservation, instead I was greeted with "take this buzzer and wait to be called". This should have been the first indication just to cut our losses and walk out. We were eventually buzzed to be seated we were taken to our table. I mentioned to the young girl seating us that my reservation specified a table overlooking the river. Her response was they don't accommodate special requests. This should have been the second warning to turn around and walk out, unfortunately I didn't heed the warnings. We were seated and waited for over ten minutes until we were greeted by a server. The noise level of the restaurant was very loud and the servers voice barely made it above a whisper. It would be laughable if this were an episode out of Seinfeld. When we eventually received our meals the quality and preparation was good, but not great. I expected an establishment that is this pricey to in the very least live up to expectations one would reasonably expect. I am giving this restaurant a 1 star due to that I expected an enjoyable dining experience, instead we received apathetic service and a disappointing evening. If you are looking for over priced average fare with service staff that demonstrates no concern for your satisfaction and little value for your dollar, then this is the place for you. read more

I came here for a birthday, and I'll start by saying that the service was good and everyone we interacted with was pleasant. The decor is also well done. For those things, I think 1 star is fair. For the rest, however...there's very little good I can say. There are some hints as you sit down that this is not a quality steakhouse. No tablecloths and a single page plastic menu should immediately clue you in to the fact that this is just a slightly more upscale Red Lobster combined with a slightly more upscale Outback Steakhouse. They started us off with drinks and bread. The drinks were delayed because it was busy. The bread was decent, but was covered in a disgusting smelling cheese and way too much butter, leaving your fingers dripping after touching it. The odor coming off the bread, reminiscent of unwashed feet, was not a great way to prime the appetite. Meanwhile, a steady thumping could be felt through the floor, indicating that we were, somehow, sitting on top of a raging disco, despite the early hour. I know it's the Jersey Shore, but loud disco music is the opposite of quality restaurant. I ordered the most expensive dish, the Filet Mignon, which includes Farmer's Seasonal Vegetables and Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, but both of these descriptions are wildly inaccurate. The seasonal vegetables was actually just one vegetable, green beans, which were prepared just fine. However, they were some wimpy looking green beans, and counting them revealed that I had received approximately 13.5 green beans. For context, if you put the amount of green beans I received in a standard slotted spoon, the spoon would be mostly empty. Alternatively, you could easily have eaten all of the green beans on the plate in one bite using a tablespoon. At $2 a pound, this would be 25-50 cents worth of green beans. The mashed potatoes were more plentiful, but were just completely off. I'm not a big fan of Yukon Gold to begin with, because it's difficult to make good mashed potatoes with them and they make disgusting baked potatoes. It seems as though the chef here does not know this and does not care that they are serving prison food. They tasted like they had no seasoning added and instead of butter, they had been finished entirely with cream or milk, and had been whipped (not mashed) after adding the milk. The end result is a pile of glue with bits of Yukon Gold potato skin mixed in as the only real body. At no point do these potatoes have that delicious buttery, salty taste that you expect from a decadent batch of steakhouse mashed potatoes. The steak itself was cooked wrong. I ordered it medium well, and it was medium, with red juices flowing from the steak and a red center. The outside was burnt to a crisp (with a completely black layer of ashy char), indicating that this chef either doesn't know what they are doing or is actively trying to get back at customers for ordering steaks cooked well. Well does not mean burnt, and it's possible to sear a filet mignon and cook it medium well. While I'm not familiar with their kitchen set up or techniques, I would suggest to the manager that they have a discussion with the chef about the universally established meat cooking temperatures and how to achieve them. I would suggest to the chef that they try cooking the steak a little further away from the flames when they want it cooked anything beyond medium. It works for me 100% of the time, and I never burn any part of the steak, nor do I have to ever check the inside to see if it's cooked right. Maybe for some reason, the universally accepted amounts of time to cook a steak properly at various different temperatures don't apply in this restaurant? Whatever it is, it's a common thing that I see at substandard steakhouses, and something that never happens at a Maloney and Porcelli, for instance. The manager generously offered to prepare something else, but waiting for food while my party eat seemed like a bad idea. Also, if they were willing to charge $41 for the low quality meal they served me, what would the other dishes look like? I don't eat seafood, so my options were limited anyway, and I vastly prefer food prepared right to food prepared in a trendy way--the hawaiian bread on the hamburgers and the garlic asiago fries were a big no go for me. Hawaiian bread belongs on a hawaiian, just like hamburger buns belong on hamburgers -- it's right there in the name. I'm not sure why this restaurant is forcing so many of its customers to eat garlic and cheese, but if it made me nauseous on the bread, I can only imagine what it would do for the potatoes. I also noted that they charge an extra $2 for a fried egg or bacon, 2 things with very different costs. One of those is a ripoff They brought us some deserts for free, I think, though I didn't pay the check because it was my birthday. Butter cake was a hardened mess that looked nothing like cake. The chocolate cake had way too much bittersweet for me, which I do not enjoy. read more

Prime rib was "ok", Mimosas were good, desert cake dry, creme brûlée disappointing. Asked for ice cream and the server said we have it but it is not available. Great views. Lousy chef. The garlic bread had the texture of microwaved bread. The lobster bisque was dull and almost devoid of lobster. The goat cheese and beets side was so over-seasoned that nothing tasted like what it was. The fried chicken in the fried chicken salad was a little better than McDonald's nuggets.
