Disappointed. The food was great and presented nicely. Nice menu. Lots of choices. The room is beautiful and the seating comfortable. BUT, many kinks still need to be worked out. Even though the place was only 80% occupied the noise level was so high normal conversation was difficult. The sides were brought out without serving utensils. The runners didn't know which person ordered which dish. The very expensive salads and appetizers were not large enough to share for 2 people and no extra plates were brought for sharing even though requested when we ordered. The wait staff's favorite form of address seems to be "you guys" to the point of annoyance. And to top off everything it costs $10 to park. However everyone was very nice and the hotel itself is gorgeous, easy to navigate and has great rest rooms. Will try again later this year as I am sure they will improve. read more

This is a new restaurant and might just not be ready yet. Let me start by saying this hotel is gorgeous every detail is lovely. But the time they spent on decorating overtook the time they spent on the restaurant. The website boasts the restaurant as the new hotspot of fine dining in the neighborhood.It reminds me of a fast casual cafeteria in a Disney resort. Loud full of children running around. When seated you aren't given a menu. I went to the host station to request menus after waiting for a time and was told that the server would be over with one shortly. The server eventually came and introduced herself and asked if we'd like a drink. Without haven been given a menu we didn't know what drinks were available so we asked for a menu then. We called ahead and asked if they had vegan options (I was the only vegan in the party) and they assured us they had some. They had two, an appetizer and an entree. I ordered both of them the appetizer was very stale pita with was was supposed to be an olive tapenade. It was thinly sliced bar olives which my mother (who is not a vegan) said tasted nothing like olives. They use no seasoning and I think we emptied the whole salt and pepper shakers and the olive oil that came with the bread. The asparagus was just blanched with no seasoning and everyone agreed all of our appetizers and mains tasted like "nothing". The main disappointment of the table was Mac and cheese which my mother described as "I should have stayed home and made kraft". We enjoyed our Restaurant Week 2022 meals at Salt! We tried the Mediterranean plate and shishito peppers for appetizers. They were very good! I had the tuna entree and my husband had the salmon. Way overpriced! The LBI chowder was good. The crab soup was good but really a clam chowder soup with chunks of crab in it. The calamari had maybe 10 pieces on it. It was sort of weird with multiple different sauces on it. Clam pizza each piece of pizza had one little piece on it. (Skimpy) pizza topping as well as the fried oysters appetizer. They were ok sort of no taste and super small. Scallops meal were good but the side of shrimp were tough and overdone. The salmon and NY strip were the best choices and the scallops were good everything else was not great. Not many choices instead of high end seafood and steak prices or appetizers. $56 for a steak I would go to a steak place. Probably won't be back for the high costs. So we came to visit the deck bar, but it started pouring. This we went to Salt. Ordered 2 wines and the grilled octopus, and the bacon appetizer. The bacon was on point, no complaints. Great smoke, perfectly sizzled so crispy yet tender and not chewy with a sweet glaze to top. The octopus was tender and grilled to perfection. Paired with Kimchi and other Korean treats it was a great bite and will be ordering again. read more

First time there. Was confusing when we first walked in, as it is poorly marked- a bit hard to find off-season with low staff & no restaurant signage. We kind of stood in the bar thinking that was SALT. It is tucked to the right of check in and the commissary store. Our waitress Hannah was awesome - busy but super attentive. The huge positive was the food. LBI is a wild card for restaurant food, reasonably priced and well prepared is a unicorn - and when I say reasonably priced I mean not scandalously expensive with subpar food. We started with the octopus, I have to say the dried kale and garbanzo spread was better than the grilled octopus. It was good, just a little tough. We had the tuna which was out of this world, and the scallops - similarly fantastic. Well prepared, fantastically prepared really, and presented beautifully. Almost makes you want to lick the plate. The brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes were lights out. Sauce with the potatoes was ever so slightly chalky, good but may be a slight improvement is in order. I thought the southside lemonade bourbon drink was delicious, and a generous drink portion. We saw lots of people eating pizzas, commented they looked delicious. It would be really fun if they had cauliflower crust pizza (hint hint). I was very grateful how well for allergies their menu is marked (thank you!). My friends and I were staying at Hotel LBI for vacation and decided to make a reservation at the hotel restaurant for Friday night. When we arrived, we were greeted by a hostess and taken directly to our table outside. Our server was so friendly and attentive and took our drink and app orders immediately. I ordered the spicy mango margarita and unfortunately it was too sweet and not spicy at all with no salt on the rim - not crazy about the bartender. The apps came out very quickly and we were pleasantly surprised by the portions and the quality of food! We even came back the next day asking if we could do take out but the kitchen wouldn't let us. Our mains came out shortly after and were beautifully plated and so delicious! All in all it was a great experience and I would highly recommend dining here if you are in the area. Just make sure to put in your reservation early because spots fill up very fast! read more

One of the worst meals I've had in a long time. My steak was all fat. I was able to get 4 bites of it that did not have fat. I Tried a piece of lobster from the other meal we ordered it was so over done and tasted like bad fish. We took advantage of restaurant week and visited the Salt Kitchen located in Hotel LBI. Everyone enjoyed the Shrimp Chowder, Calamari and Thick Cut Sea Salt Bacon in a Bourbon maple glaze (outstanding) for appetizers and shared them with each other. The Viking Village Scallops were delicious and the Braised Shortribs over root vegetables cut like butter (divine). We finished our feast with a Crème Brûlée (without the hard crust on top) and raspberry and lemon sorbets. Our waiter Tim was friendly and attentive, giving us excellent service. We're still full and are already talking about when we will go back. Seriously good choice. read more

First time to Hotel LBI, and I have to say it is amazing. Absolutely beautiful decor and style. We had a reservation in the restaurant. It was very, very noisy, we couldn't hear ourselves talk. It needs some acoustics to dampen the noise. The menu is nice, great selection of dishes, but very expensive. Dessert was ok too. All in all, the food didn't over- impress us. We went to Salt for a special occasion and had a wonderful experience! The food and staff are top notch and a great example of a high end restaurant experience! Our server Emma was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and suggested a great wine and food selection for our party. On a separate occasion, our server Sebastian was a model server and probably the best interaction we have had with a server in recent years. In addition, the management staff came over to our table and gave us a personal check in and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. From the valet, the hostesses, the bartender and wait staff, to the decor, ambiance, location and amenities, straight through apps, dinner and dessert. The place is beautiful, and the location is absolutely stunning. Then the staff was well-trained and highly welcoming. Each staff member greeted us and held a door open for us. Our server Gianna was one of the most attentive servers we have ever had. The food was plated beautifully and tasted just as good. My wife and I decided to take a chance on the restaurant knowing that they would still be going through start-up issues. We were pleasantly surprised to find no hiccups at all in the service or quality. Our table was ready the moment we arrived. The hostess was friendly and efficient. Our server, McKenzie was prompt, welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the LBI chowder which had a nice variety of flavors and textures, and the burrata and tomato salad, which was very good. The shrimp Buccatini entree was delicious. The grouper with a light brown sauce (the catch of the day) was light and extremely well-seasoned. We will definitely make this our go-to whenever we are on the island. read more

I have had the pleasure of eating at Salt three consecutive Friday nights and each time my wife and I have had a fantastic time. Honestly I have not had any of the issues of those who have reviewed Salt. I'll start with the greeters, Casey, Catlin, and Sara are awesome! They have always been upbeat and smiling and give off an air of genuine delight to see people enjoy themselves. Being somewhat regulars one of the Managers Mathew always makes his way over to our table to say hello and of course make sure our meal is nothing less than perfect. It is impressive to see how well he handles the room as well as his guest. It is this dedication shown and professionalism that will keep us coming back. As far as wait staff goes Abi K. down right knocked it out of the park! She is so attentive and on point that from here on out we will be requesting her service! As for the food I have gotten the scallops all three times, they are amazing! My wife has gotten the filet and brussels sprouts which are cooked with bacon and have a hint of sweetness to them, they are a must have! The bacon app was great and the burrata tomato plates was as well. Again I have been there three times and have a fantastic time without issue I do however eat after 8:30 (we are at the roof deck bar prior). This is one of the best restaurants on the island bravo to the chef our meals were amazing the appetizers were off the charts calamari was done perfectly the wedged salad was to die for. Our experience at Salt Kitchen couldn't have been a better experience. Our waitress Stephanie and management made our dinning experience one of our best nights out together we have ever had. Went here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Overall, the food is good and the service we received from our waiter was very good. However, the overall experience was not worth the high price we paid for the dinner for four. Our issues started when we arrived (with a reservation) and were left waiting for our table so they could tend to a party (that arrived after us) that had a reservation for the day before. As a result, we missed the sunset that we timed our dinner for. Then one of our meals arrived cold. Restaurant has a lot of potential but needs to really up their game if they want to stay at this price point. read more

I came to the Salt Kitchen & Bar with my family (there were nine of us!!!) for my 21st birthday. I could not have asked for a better experience. The hostesses were lovely and made sure all parts of our party found the table okay and wished me a happy birthday while doing so! The manager, Matt truly knows how to make you feel special and VIP! However, the shining star of the night was Kelly, our server. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and extremely personable. My whole family loved her and would request her over and over again! The bar staff made fabulous drinks- the blueberry smash and lovely lady cocktails made me a happy 21 year old! And the FOOD! Cooked and prepared to perfection. Chef Nick and the whole team deserve a round of applause for such careful attention to detail and flavor. I highly recommend the bacon, veal, and creme brulee. We are staying at the Hotel LBI for a Covid staycation and rather than subjecting other diners to my 3 rambunctious kids we opted to order delivery. The food was delivered to the room very quickly. Everything we ordered was very good. We had fresh oysters & calamari. Two pizzas, margherita and the spicy sausage. For entrees short ribs and the half chicken. Aside from part of the short rib being a little extra fatty, it was very tender and delicious. The sides were excellent as well: brussels sprouts and truffle fries. All in all we were pleased with our meal and would definitely return again. read more

For a hotel that cost 550-600$ a night, I expected the food to be of high standards as well. For starters, the drinks tasted cheap....like pure colored sugar drenched with vodka. The main courses were absolutely disgusting and I was asked how I would like my salmon cooked. I don't even know why places even ask this question to begin with, but I should've said "not fucking raw." The salmon was served raw and slimy that I ended up throwing up. The only reason I didn't give this hellhole of a restaurant a 1 star was because the appetizers were decent, and the staff were nice as well. read more

I was very disappointed that the valet man turned off my headlights, and I was driving without headlights because they touched my dash which they shouldn't have. Also, while two of our party were still dining, they brought out dessert menu which is absolutely unacceptable. We were still eating our meals, and they tried to rush us out of our dinners. They also attempted to take our tomatoes, when we were DEFINITELY still eating them. The waitresses need better training. Also, their elevator is beyond slow and one is broken. And one of the steaks was cooked beyond recognition. They did give us another, but the one they gave us was basically mooing, raw in the center, instead of the medium steak we asked for in the first place. Our waitress, when asked, did not know the specifics of the beach that hotel goers are shuttled to. She should really be more knowledgeable. Basically, this was a bad experience. Amazing in Every Way!! We went for my daughter's birthday. All I can say is everything was excellent!!! We had the crab cake for appetizer. The most amazing crab cake on the Jersey Shore! It is solid chunk crab meat seasoned to perfection, NO fillers. I have given up on crab at the Jersey Shore and only order crab in MD/DE. This experience has changed that for me and I will be ordering the crab cake as my main meal the next time. I had the half chicken (excellent), my daughter had the shrimp pasta dish (excellent), and my husband had the halibut (excellent). Even the bread and butter were delicious. My daughter got a slice of cheese cake with rum marinated pineapple (excellent). Excellent in every way!!! And if you are lucky, you will have the most amazing waiter who looks like Nathan Lane/Kevin James/Billy Joel. He was most attentive, anticipating our every need and as entertaining as all three men that he looks like. A wonderful dining experience that we will always remember. After dinner we went to the roof top bar. Again, service was above par with a beautiful panoramic view. A perfect place to end the evening. read more

Had high hopes for Hotel LBI's restaurant but it was severely lacking in terms of food, service, and overall experience. The cocktails sounded good on paper but lacked flavor for $13 each. Had the salmon and it was cooked decently but the overall dish was okay & overpriced. The spicy sausage pizza was gross & I would recommend everyone steer clear. The pizza was undercooked and had no crunch. The spicy sausage tasted like pepperoni from the grocery store mashed up, no spice at all. The grilled octopus tasted like it just came out of the freezer as well. The redeeming quality of the whole meal was the shoestring truffle fries ($10). The service was attentive but awkward. The set up of the restaurant reminded me of a Cheesecake Factory. I hope these are just kinks that need to be worked as it is a new hotel but I won't be back any time soon. read more

We've been twice in the last two weeks and....WOW! The service we received was amazing. Connor was our waiter last week and couldn't have been nicer. What a fine young man! Jessica last night was equally amazing. Talk about great energy and she's a 3rd grade teacher too. And rounding out our service experience, Jed, is the toppest notch manager. You leave feeling like family. He genuinely wants to make sure you're having the best experience. This keeps you coming back! Kudos to whoever is in charge of hiring...knocking it out of the park. The food from start to finish did not disappoint. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The Burratta was flavorful and creamy, octopus is amazing too. Loved the filet and my hubby had the chicken.
