Was disappointed with my experience here after having multiple people recommend it to me. Came on a holiday weekend with a group of 10 and had multiple items that we ordered be forgotten. Staff did right by us by comping a few things off the bill but we found the prices were very high for the quality of food. The drinks were consistent and delicious and the ambiance was nice. Our waiter (Mike) was great and very friendly and made the experience better with his high energy but overall staff was very unorganized. I would come back for just drinks but found it to be overpriced for what is served. read more

We had a delicious meal. We were staying at the Hotel and after a long drive it was so nice to sit down to a nice meal. We started with grilled octopus and Baked Clams, both were delicious, I personally liked the octopus more. We had the squid ink pasta with clams, shrimp bucatini pasta, and the short rib tagliatelle. Spent the week in LBI and ate at several of the restaurants around town, but far and away Salt Kitchen & Bar was the best. The food, the drinks and the service are top notch. It's pricey, but not over priced because you definitely get what you pay for, which is a delicious meal from start to finish. Truly flawless. read more

Went to dinner with hubby and daughter#1 on Friday night. It is June and summer shore season is here. Make reservations. We have eaten here before and can always count on quality creative fine dining. Our sever knew sooo much about the menu, specials and really was helpful . You need this because everything sounds so good it's hard to decide. Had fun cocktails - white cosmo , watermelon margarita and a rum drink plus oysters, lamb flatbread and several entrees- filet, clams & chorizo, and shrimp bucatini . Everyone shared and it was all delicious! The sides almost stole the show- truffle Mac n cheese and broccoli rabe. Beautiful hotel and decor, great service and really consistent. This is a great spot on the island, although not in the best location. The food is very good. The half seafood tower is enough for 3-4 people. The mac N cheese is excellent, so is the chicken and the brussel sprouts. read more

While on a 7 day vacation, we found salt to be the best food in LBI. The grilled octopus was so good we ordered 2. Fish was super fresh and the server was on top of his stuff! Highly recommend going for a lovely date or with friends. read more

Came here with some friends while we were in town for a wedding! Ambiance is nice and food was great. Large portions and everything was tasty. I will say, the service was very slow and our waitress was a bit pushy! I ordered the halibut, and the waitress asked if I wanted a side. I told her I thought it was fine -- she insisted it wasn't enough food twice so I ordered a side. However, the dish was ENORMOUS and I couldn't even finish half! I am so happy to finally have a venue this elegant on Long Beach island! It's located inside the lbi hotel - which is absolutely beautiful! The decor is very beachy but still upscale- I adore the light fixtures made from oyster shells. The menu is exactly what LBI has needed! I had the seafood tower, side of asparagus, and key lime pie. Seafood tower- AWESOME! Looks great & tastes great. I was kind of bummed they ran out of lobster though :( Asparagus - cooked to perfection, thick & covered in lemon juice - just how I like it! I can't wait to go back and get the pizza! Service is a 5/5 from the hostess stand to the waiter. I believe my waiters name was Connor - he was incredible and very knowledgeable. This will become my new Sunday dinner spot :) read more

Complete failures and amazing successes...and not really 'fine dining' It is always difficult to review a restaurant so out of sorts with itself. I'm going to start with the drinks - the cocktails we ordered were quite simply the worst my wife and I have ever had. Both my wife's LBI Tea and my "South End" Lemonade were absurdly sweet...and seemed to have no alcohol whatsoever. So we switched to glasses of Cakebread's Sauvignon Blanc which they were good enough to stock and which were their usual stupendous selves. Salt Kitchen in a nutshell. The Hamachi Ceviche and Beet & Watermelon salad were perfection - seriously Manhattan quality dishes. But the clam chowder was abysmal - the clams were hidden behind bacon - as was the lobster roll - with carrots overwhelming the lobster. The oysters, filet mignon, and NY strip were fine but in no way exceptional. But the crabcake that my son ordered with his filet was sad - very disappointing compared to others he enjoyed this week. The inside dining room is a cavernous space with horrible acoustics. At a round table for five we could only converse with those adjacent - being heard across the table required shouting. And the decor is reminiscent of a high end cafeteria, not a $100 a head fine dining establishment. The service was reasonable...though either our waiter or the kitchen messed up the doneness of one of the steaks. In short, unless the reviews show a massive turnaround I can't imagine ever giving this restaurant another try. read more

This place was recommended by a friend who lives in LBI. This is a new trendy chic place right inside the Hotel LBI. The bar area is nice with lot's of seating including hi-top tables behind the bar. We got there around 7:30 and I was surprised it was NOT packed. I think everyone was going to the rooftop bar area which you can only get there from the lobby elevator which is monitored by an employee on how many people are allowed at one time. The appetizers we had were delicious! The peppercorn bacon slabs in a light mustard sauce was so good and the octopus was one of the best I have had, SO TENDER you can cut it with your fork. We split a main entree', seafood bucatini with shrimp and scallops, very good! For the cocktails, we were not so impressed. I had the Aperol Spritz comes in a champagne glass ( $13 ) My husband had a vodka martini ( $16 )thats expensive! Even some of their wines were way over priced for the bottle. Overall a beautiful hotel and we hope it sticks around for a long time. The test will be when the summer is over and will it continue to attract the locals in the area. The restaurant its self is beautiful but this is the only positive aspect of the experience we had. The service was slow and the server's knowledge of the menu poor. Despite having a reservation, we waited about 1/2 hour to be seated. We then waited a long time for the server to get our drink orders. At that time we asked the server some questions about items on the menu. She had no answers for us and said she would find out. The server returned about 15 minutes later without our drinks and without answers to most of our questions. Eventually we were able to order dinner but a couple of the drinks never arrived and we were starving by the time we finally ordered dinner. The food, appetizers and entrees, were entirely disappointing. Everything was served lukewarm or cold. Many of the individual orders were incorrect. the delay between apps and entrees was about 45 minutes. While we suffered through dinner, the ambience of the room also made to make a bad situation worse. The room is very loud and we could hear the conversations at what seemed like every other table. Some of this was because of other dissatisfied patron yelling at the servers about the poor service or incorrect meals. We could also hear people with reservations yelling at the hostess about not being seated on time. read more

Went with a girlfriend last night to dinner at salt and drinks at rooftop bar. Drove from beach haven so had to watch not to have too many cocktails with driving. Rooftop was beautiful. Large, elegant, great views. I'll write a diff review for that! Dinner at Salt was ok to good. We sat in the large dining room, which was lovely but kind of felt like a hotel restaurant. The room got pretty loud as the evening went on. Wait staff was excellent ( Laura). Some of the food was incredible and some could use improvement. The New England clam chowder was honestly some of the best I've ever had and unique. The flavor was incredible. My entree was the shrimp with Bucatini in a cream sauce. I typically don't get cream sauces or pasta for that matter but was in the mood. The pastor was very al dente which I loved and seem to be homemade. However, the sauce was very lemony. I saw another review on here which mentioned the same thing. Note to Chef: , reduce the lemon flavor in the sauce and it will be much better. My girlfriend ordered the tuna dinner which I tasted. It was OK and based on the fact that she left half of it over I think she also thought it was just OK. Not sure I'll be back for dinner but drinks at rooftop, definitely!! read more

What a wonderful restaurant week experience. From start to finish I received 5 star service. From the start, our hostesses were kind, friendly and efficient. Our waitress was on point with all the best recommendations and was always checking on us. I ordered the scallops for my meal and they were cooked to perfection! 2 words: Holy. Cow. The ambiance was very nice. The service was lovely. The hotel is beautiful and it sets such a perfect tone for the meal. The appetizers were fantastic. My husband chose clam chowder and I devoured the burrata salad. The flavors in my salad were such an awesome balance- roasted squash, nuts, green goddess dressing. I ate every ounce. Main courses were also spot on: surf and turf for my husband and I had the filet mignon and roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon jam. The Brussels sprouts were so good that I ordered some to take home for later The desserts were also really original. A NY cheesecake with a PECAN crust! It was delicious. The coconut creme brûlée was also just perfect. I only have 2 criticisms: One cocktail I ordered was pretty much undrinkable. It was so strong it wasn't good. It tasted like straight gin. The other criticism was that it was SO expensive. For a special occasion- it was totally fine... and we definitely didn't skimp on our ordering... but it was $$$$$$!!!!!!! Bread was to die for ! Calamari and truffle fries were great. Truffle Mac and cheese was deff the star of the show. I loved the Cesar salad, my friend felt it had a sour taste. Cocktails were definitely mediocre. Overall I think the price was very fair. We paid $120 (total) before tip for everything pictured + 2 cocktails each. Something I like to add - I'm a thicker girl and all seats appeared to be plus size friendly. Seats had arms but were spacious and comfortable. Upscale restaurant located inside the famous Hotel LBI. The restaurant is beautiful and is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows that permit a fantastic view of sunsets. The wait staff is very kind and attentive, and happy to explain dishes, specials, and personal favorites from the menu. The food itself is overall very flavorful and filling. While the complimentary bread and appetizer calamari we got were very good, the pizzas we ordered were rather soggy with lots of oil. Flavor was certainly not lacking, and presentation was nice, but the overall dish was mediocre. Other menu items may be more satisfactory choices! Come for special occasions, or if you have a bit of extra cash to spend, as prices are quite high. Overall, a very good restaurant and definitely worth a visit! read more

Was there with a group of 10 people (9-17) for a special occasion and this was probably the worst dinner I have experienced in over 20 years. 7 of the 10 dinners weee completely inedible and more than half of us ended up with stomach issues an hour so later. The tile fish was not cooked and the three of us who ordered it, could not eat it. Crab cake was well a single small piece and was cold to the touch. Four others got the rib eye steak and all ordered medium. All four arrived not even close to being considered rare. Once again, inedible. On a high note, their French fries and deserts were excellent. The manager did come over and took 1 dinner and a round of drinks off the bill, however none of us will probably ever go back. They were good, but it was small. My husband got the shrimp cocktail and they were fine, but they were plain. Like ones you'd get at a grocery store. And the mac and cheese was good. Do not come here. Worst service of any restaurant I've ever been to. They served us a dish with nuts when we called out a severe nut allergy before the meal started. We spoke with the manager who was a woman with glasses and she could not have cared less. My girlfriend would have gone to the hospital if I hadn't noticed nuts in the dish. If you're looking for the cruise ship assembly line experience, this is for you. Service was excellent so no issues whatsoever with the wait staff. But for the price point, you're better served going to any of the many otherrestaurants on the island. Ribeye was barely edible (I've had better from my local Shop Rite) and the shrimp bucatini was laden with so much lemon, it turned what should be a simple pasta dish into a sour patch kids candy extravaganza. Brussel Sprout side was very good (hard to screw up), salmon entree was good but that should also be a slam dunk at an ocean side restaurant. All in all? Eh..decent but again, you're paying a high premium for what should match that price point. The Old Causeway is a MUCH better bang for your buck. read more

Overall an OK experience.. service can definitely benefit from some further training. Our server did one of my pet peeves- began to clear the table when someone was still eating while asking if we were interested in dessert!! In my experience in hospitality- wait to clear until everyone's done eating, and then give the guests 5 minutes to digest their food before asking about dessert. They're more likely to say yes = higher bills = more tips! We enjoyed our appetizers and entrees (tomato & mozzarella, scallops, salmon, halibut) but didn't try dessert because we were annoyed. We felt the portion sizes were generous. Room was incredibly loud and could definitely benefit from some acoustic panels. read more

I didn't love this restaurant. It was very expensive (crab cakes were $65) which I don't mind paying but for that price it should be great. We were a large party and not one person raved about their food. Most people didn't finish it because it was too heavily sauced or simply not that great. Even the wedge salad was overdressed.
