Came here for some drinks after a birthday dinner with friends and was very impressed! The atmosphere is super cozy and warm, especially given it was snowmageddon outside when we visited! I can only speak to the drinks and service but this was one of the best Amaretto Sours I've ever had! So flavorful and finally one that isn't overly sweet and has a nice crisp cherry taste to it. Our waiter was awesome and very attentive but allowed us to hang out for an hour and a half with just drinks. The rest of the time he was thoroughly scrubbing the floors and every inch of the empty tables. A great sign of cleanliness and attention to detail. Worth a visit! -From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point... cozy, relaxed, and welcoming without feeling stuffy as the dinner rush came in. The cocktail menu is creative and I absolutely loved that there was a thoughtfully made mocktail option as well, for my friend :) It's nice when those feel just as intentional. My espresso martini deserves its own spotlight! Silky, bold, and perfectly balanced, it tasted like someone actually cared about the coffee and the cocktail. Not too sweet, not too boozy, it was absolute perfection! The food was fantastic across the board, with great flavors and solid portions, and the service was friendly, attentive, and never rushed. Overall, it was one of those spots that just gets it right- great atmosphere, great drinks, great food, and great people. Everything about this place feels intentional, and it shows. This was our first time here, but we have been eyeballing this place for over 2 years now so yes it was way overdue! The veggie burger was good! Eric really enjoyed his Reuben sandwich. The only thing he said he wished was the Reuben meat was sliced thinner and not as a thick cut, other than that it was really nice flavor. The appetizers were delightful! we can't wait to go back & try other items. The service was up to snuff and very attentive. I really enjoyed the SPARKLING WINE SPLIT! I'm torn on this one and don't know that it's really a four, but the excellent service is swaying me. We were in town and stopped in for an unplanned happy hour on the patio. Great selection of appetizers for $2 off for hh. We ordered two to share, German nachos and steak tips. The nachos definitely get points for originality, and no complaints on the taste overall. That said, by preference I can't recommend. Leave nachos to any variation but German. "House bistro chips" apparently means potato chips. Would not have ordered if we knew. Steak tips...the mushrooms were incredible and the steak was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they were ruined overall by the insane amount of salt used. Why? Literally why ruin a great meal? I LOVE salt and even I thought it was ruined, especially the spinach. 3 for food...4 for ambiance and happy hour value...5 for service. Oh! They had an NA IPA that was a nice treat. :) read more

Excellent customer service and especially attentive to my wife's dietary concerns/questions (all was well.) * As I offered in my original review, I was concerned about the high, stamped metal ceilings (a) making for a very noisy dining experience and (b) winter heating (heat rises correctly?) Well, true to form, in an apparent effort to keep some heat near the floor during the last week in a Michigan February, the ceiling fans were on - full force. I have some ideas as to how to keep some heat lower WITHOUT making customers sit in the winter breeze. I will not bore the reader with those ideas here, but I think that they could help. It's more than a decent place to eat, but I think that I will stick to lunch time. read more

This is a solid choice if you are in Saljne. We got the chips with dip, gnocchi, and chicken sandwich sans bun. We didn't love the dip for the chips but the chips are homemade and wonderfully crisp. The service was good even though they are very short staffed. Very friendly. If you need to avoid gluten, there is very little to eat here. Everything is in a bun or breaded. I'd love to see a completely updated menu. There's nothing special about the offerings. Unfortunately, nothing about the selection or the meal made me want to come back. My husband and I frequent here with our 10 month old. A few things to note: 1. The service is always great and staff is very friendly 2. Their happy hour is awesome for drinks. Deal on small plates could be better. 3. Food is good and consistent. Not a blow your socks off meal but we have enjoyed everything we have tried 4. Mac and cheese is one of the best items they have along with the hornet burger. We wish there were a few more entree options. This spot is definitely more handheld items in my opinion. FOOD POISONING - after eating the Pear & Blue Cheese salad with blackened chicken breast for dinner on June 8th, 2023 I became violently ill by the morning of June 9th. My wife spoke to Paul (manager) on June 10th and he denied it as implausible. Gem on the corner of downtown Saline! Met up with friends here for a bite to eat before an evening out. We were greeted at the door with a big, happy smile and got a table immediately. We enjoyed both the quick and attentive service and the great food and drink. It was our first time here, but it won't be our last. Outside seating street-side is available in summer, but we dined indoors where it was cooler. A Braised Corned Beef Rueben, Brecon Burger and Crispy Fish Tacos made their way to our table as well as numerous domestic bottled beers and one White Peach Sangria. With the exception of the Sangria, all were tasty and we would do them again. The Sangria sounded better on the menu than it actually tasted, but it was a refreshing enough summer drink to at least order once. There are also other wines and several draft beers available. Seven of us had dinner there Friday night and it was outstanding. Sophie served us with a smile and worked as quick as she could. The owner, Paul, came over to our table a few times to check on us and shared his humor. We had a good time teasing meeting and teasing him. He is a hands on owner who was setting up tables, busing them and helping the staff any way he could. I am giving them four stars instead of five only because some of the food originally came out cold but, with no questions asked, they quickly prepared a fresh hot plate. We tried the tenderloin steak bites and I must say that I personally, never had better. The shrimp appetizer is off the hook crazy good. I can't wait to go back and try it again. The food is fairly heavy here. Still we enjoy it from time to time. We have a new puppy and Ann Arbor Street is closed to traffic for tables on the sidewalk at Mac's and Brecon so we thought either of these restaurants would be perfect sidewalk seating! However, neither restaurant will allow dogs to lie down while their owners eat at the sidewalk tables. I think it's a City of Saline thing? They are supposed to disinfect the sidewalk if a dog is under the table. Yet dogs can walk down the sidewalk and no one is disinfecting? Sadly for Saline, we eat out a lot but it looks like we'll be eating out all summer in Ann Arbor so we can socialize our pandemic puppy to new experiences and make sure she stays friendly. Thank heavens other towns aren't so strange as to allow you to walk your dog on the sidewalk but not sit down at a table. It's too bad Saline has been our home for the last 20 years and they have such silly rules. read more

We are long time Saline residents. It was Saline Summer Fest tonight and we ate at Dan's Downtown Tavern earlier and had a half of a wrap leftover so we took it in a to go box. We went to enjoy some of Saline Summer Fest and decided to stop into another local bar Brecon Grille. As soon as we entered, an extremely rude employee immediately yelled at us "No outside food and drink allowed" and when we said it was from Dan's Tavern and he said "we're not allowed to do that" because we had a two hour old bag of leftovers from their rival bar Dan's and he REFUSED us entry. I will NEVER give this place my business EVER again. This is highly unprofessional behavior towards Saline residents. read more

We split a few different small plates and couldn't decide which was best, they were all so good! We went back the following weekend to try a few more. It was OK. Food was pretty good but nothing spectacular. The kid's menu has a nice selection. The floor was kind of gross. I think they need to deep clean the carpets. The menus also need a good wipe down. We will probably go again if necessary but won't be rushing back soon. read more

I had really high hopes for this place. It didn't live up to my full expectations, but it definitely didn't leave me with a bad experience. I walked in and was greeted with a very pleasant vibe. It's a small restaurant, and I went early (also known as the old person hour) so I got in right away. While I was seated I did notice more people coming in and waiting in the lobby area. My point is, don't go during the dinner hour, go a little before. The only other thing I thought was bad about it being small was that I had no space with my chair; if I moved at all I would be in the aisle or at someone else's table. The food was good, but it didn't knock my socks off like I was hoping. I ordered the fish and chips (my go to) and was disappointed that it didn't taste super fresh. It tasted more like fish sticks- I hope that means it wasn't frozen. That being said, the people I ate with all enjoyed their meal immensely. The chicken tenders looked phenomenal, the French dip looked fantastic- I'd order any of those at anytime. All in all, I'm definitely going to go back to this place. 4/5 read more

A new experience on a Friday night. Me and the lady wanted to try something different so Brecon grill in downtown saline was our choice. They have a good selection of beer (many of them beers your never heard of, which is great for me, i love my beer), the chicken tenders i had was good (although i personally liked the sweet and sour sesame better than the buffalo). For my meal i had blacken chicken Alfredo (chicken taste great but the noodles and sauce was plain Jane to me) and house fries (great). Now i did see a lot of reviews about the service and it was average (nothing great about it) so i can see how people did get bad service. Will i go here again, sure why not. read more

I really don't go here very often, as I am a big fan of Mac's. But if Mac's isn't open, then it's my next choice (along with Dan's across the street). It's really just a solid 3-star place though... style is pub food, and it's okay. Service is okay but nothing special. Beer selection is reasonable. Overall good place to get some pub grub if you're in the area. Parking is in the back or on the street. But I'd aim to go into the lots in back because it's not terribly enjoyable to be getting into your car on Michigan Ave. read more

This was my first time at Brecon Grille and I was very pleased with my experience. The ambiance was nice, customer service excellent, and the staff were very friendly. For my meal, I ordered the Salmon Cakes as an appetizer. The quality of salmon was top tier and the sauce complimented it well. They were perfectly cooked and a little crisp on the edges. I love it!! I wanted to make a third order on the salmon cakes, but was embarrassed to get a third plate of the salmon cakes. I discovered Brecon Grille as I was on a country-wide road trip from Florida to Maine; I ate various restaurants, but the salmon cakes were definitely the best meal I had on my trip. I am a lover of seafood and I love salmon. I have gotten seafood as far as New Zealand, to Lake Tahoe, to Santa Barbara and I can honestly say these salmon cakes are better than the rest and they are also decently priced!! Man, really disappointed the last time we went. Usually such great food at lunch time. We went for dinner this time. I had the fish and chips. There were 3 small pieces of cod, but they looked like fish sticks and were greasy and fell apart while eating. Coleslaw had a really weird vibe, smelled and tasted funny, not like a regular creamy slaw. Both my son and I couldn't even eat it. For $15 it was a weak representation and poorly executed dish. My 7 year old also had fish and chips from the kids menu. I should've taken a pic, you guys wouldn't believe. It was enough for maybe a 3 year old. Literally had one small fish stick. I gave him one of mine because it wasn't enough. So, food was subpar, price was moderately expensive and we left hungry.
