    Raw oysters

If you're a fan of seafood, I highly recommend checking out Salt Traders! They have a large menu offering a variety of different dishes, some more casual and some fancier. During my visit, I ordered a variety of oysters from the raw bar to share with my husband alongside the shrimp and lobster roll. I was super impressed with everything I had. The oysters tasted really fresh and their cocktail sauce here was tasty. The shrimp and lobster roll was different from what I've tried from other places because the filling was cold instead of warm. I thought this change was refreshing and was perfect because it was a hot day. Service here was exceptionally friendly! Our server would check up on us often and was super conversational. I appreciate all the recommendations she shared alongside being really thorough when telling us the difference between the different oysters the restaurant offered. I'd describe the ambiance here as elevated casual.

It's a Jack Allen restaurant. I love that they keep up with the tradition of the chip and dip to get you excited. This one has crab in it though. YUMMM. My pasta was delicious except the seafood (lobster and shrimp) was overcooked. Pasta and sauce was great though. The fish and chips was a large portion and the fries came out perfect. The oysters from New England were tasty. Our server had a really cool name and was friendly and attentive. It's a large place with lotsa seating and not that busy on a Tuesday evening thunderstorm.

On our first visit, we ordered several dishes and particularly enjoyed the Gumbo, Seared Scallop Nigiri, Salmon Crudo, and Fish & Chips. The service was excellent.

The oysters were pretty good. Had fresh and clean taste. The sauces that come with them had the right kick to elevate the flavor. However, I didn't really enjoy the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp. It was nicely presented, but there was a slightly off flavor that didn't quite work for me.

My husband and I shared the fish and chips... I ordered a side salad.

Visited here for the first time on Memorial Day... my family and I had a great time. The atmosphere was pretty busy and the servicewas exceptional. Our food was really tasty especially the fish dip!

I do not give too many 5 stars, but this place, this time, this visit, got it. A friend who lives in Kyle, has never been here and I was traveling so this place he recommended. From the beginning walking in, not busy at all but maybe we were early, through our 3 hour convesation and meal that place was super packed. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the furniture to the staff. The server was a young thang but very knowledgable of their menu minus some of the cocktails. From the appetizers to the 3 courses ordered, desert and cocktails it was magnificent. Definitely would like ot try more menu options next time in Austin.

My sister's a pescatarian now so we have less options for going out to eat dinner. This neighborhood spot we always drive by, so it was to cool to finally try it. We went on a rainy Friday at the tail end of happy hour. The restaurant wasn't that busy but there were folks in all serving sections. We got seated next to a large family but they left soon after we arrived. We had the smoked fish dip and cajun butter shrimp to share. Both were okay, I almost preferred the dip & chips because there weren't enough shrimp. I had the scallop risotto, tried a bite of the red fish daily special, and had a couple bites of the shrimp and grits. I didn't feel like any dish was spectacular, but I wasn't disappointed either. I'd say this spot met my expectations -- we probably won't come back though.

We came here for a happy hour (3:30-6:30 T-Fr) as they have $5 off all beginnings and discounted oysters. Here's what we ordered: 1. New Orleans BBQ Shrimp - tasty and a pretty big portion with freshly grilled bread 2. Steamed Mussels - another bigger portion app that had a really nice white wine butter sauce 3. Grilled Oysters - these were excellent and I could've ordered many more portions 4. Clam Chowda - bowl was a big portion and super filling so could've probably just done the cup. 5. Shrimp & Grits - this was just ok in my opinion. We've had way better 6. Lastly ended with the creme brulee which was good but the topping of white powdered chocolate (?) and sorbet was such a weird pairing and did not go well. Overall this would be 3.5 stars. Nothing here that I'd crave and want to come back for but not a bad meal either. Convenient location next to so many offices and Westlake, and plenty of parking.

Really good food. L and I ordered fried fish and shrimp. R had Shrimp and Grits. We had Margaritas to start. Excellent food and good service in a pleasant environment.

Great food and perfect for families! We went with a group on an early Friday night and were a bit nervous since we were with a stroller/infant but they were very accommodating and we saw multiple other families. We shared the large seafood tower which was good but a bit underwhelming for the price to be honest. The rest of our dishes were great and so were the drinks. We would return!

Waited 10 min after coming in just to get asked what I would like to drink. I got my drink order, oysters, then one small lemon for 12 oysters. What smart thinking . They have there own hot sauce so if you love tabasco too bad lol. Salt shaker made no sense. I'm eating seafood and you want me to turn the grinder for my salt with seafood hands lol . I also ordered fish and chips, it was just greasy. 3 sad fish and old looking fries, was not happy or ever coming again. I ordered an old fashion . That was the only thing I liked.

This place is really nice when you walk in they greet you and are very helpful. During lunchtime and dinner it can be a rush hour. If you could make a reservation go for it I'm not sure if you can. I haven't looked into that. We went because they were hosting a teacher appreciation Day and we're giving us teachers free meals. I have been hearing in the past for their seafood food boils and they're delicious as well. I chose the blackened chicken Caesar salad salad without anchovies and I have to say it was delicious. The chicken was so fresh and perfectly grilled and the dressing was just very nice. My friend got the crispy shrimp bowl and I tried it and it was delicious. I literally just mixed it all and it was phenomenal. I also wanted to try some of their oysters. Those were not on the menu for teachers, but they were very well priced, and I have to say they were delicious. They were not fishy. They were not grainy. They were just perfectly silky and a little sweet. Overall great place they were so sweet. They kept thinking us for being teachers. They even gave us a cute little apple. I definitely would keep coming back here since our food is really good.

Amazing service. Great pairing recommendation for wine and oysters. I will say the oysters and wine were great but I wouldn't go for the ceviche. I love ceviche and I couldn't eat it. But other than that, I will definitely be back for the oysters! I believe our servers name was Austen. Very kind :)

No, there is no outdoor dining at Salt Traders.

Are there gluten free menu options?

    Oysters are gluten free!

Any vegan or vegetarian options? Didn't see a lot of fresh veggies on menu.

Are there patio / outdoor seating?

Is it kid-friendly? Do they have a kid's menu?

I didn't see kids on the menu, but they do have oysters.

The guy working was super friendly and helpful. Even took the trash bag to throw away the shells for us. Crab tends to turn to shreds when it's overboiled, and I was EASILY pulling out nice, intact pieces from the shell, so no worries about that here. This shows they have good taste, good judgement and want to be near neighboring trucks that serve fine food. * * * How is Pete's? a) Nearly all Cajun seafood is good. Cajun seafood is like chocolate. There is better. There is worse. It is never bad. b) Pete's boiled Cajun shrimp is completely lovely. I would eat this over and over again. Since Pete's is near my house, I intend to become a regular. c) Cajun seafood is much easier to eat in a restaurant than at a food truck. This is because the final concoction is wet (due to the boiling stock) oily (because the oils make things taste good) and bright red (because of the spices.) You are looking at a dry cleaner's dream. In a restaurant you get solid plates and bowls to eat the good stuff in. At Pete's you get a Styrofoam container to hold the mess. This is like using a cotton bag to take home red paint. Fortunately, the slosharound stayed within the plastic bag the Styrofoam container was placed in. But one pinprick and it would have been upholstery cleaning time. d) The spices in Pete's seafood is NOT even. There WILL be the big bites of salt and the big bites of cayenne pepper. Be sure to order boiled potatoes as your side and save two or three to the end. You will need them to put out mouth emergencies. e) The non-emergency bites are wonderful. Having to put out fires with potatoes is a fair price for a meal with a lot of taste thrills. * * * Thumbs up for the seafood. Double thumbs up for the potatoes.

Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin.
