Let me start by saying I am a HUGE Saltgrass fan! I eat at The Woodlands location many many times per year, and sometimes go by there just to get the cheesecake! But this Conroe location's carry-out meal today was Horrible! I ordered Steak Medallions, side salad, fresh veggies, and cheesecake. My bill was over $24! The website menu clearly says the cheesecake is $3.99, why I was charged $7.49 is beyond me. Not to mention that what I ended up getting was NOT the regular delicious Saltgrass cheesecake, but some gross, refrigerator mushy melted pie - not a true baked cheesecake at all. (sort of like the no-bake jello brand). And since they put the steamed veggies in a Styrofoam container turned sideways on top of the cheesecake box, the cheesecake crust tasted like broccoli! MMM Broccoli flavored cheesecake, Yum! not. By the way Conroe Saltgrass, Steak Medallions with gravy and mashed potatoes DO NOT belong together in a disposable soup bowl - unless you want it to be potato soup! There was so much gravy mixed in with this soup bowl of mashed potatoes that that's exactly what it was, SOUP. I will never order to-go food from this place again without placing my order directly with the manager. So so so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I still love Saltgrass, but the Conroe manager needs to take a look at their to-go practices and do some training with his employees. And whoever made this nasty excuse for a cheesecake should be fired. read more

My family and I have always loved Saltgrass. We almost always visit them for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions. I must say I am HIGHLY disappointed in the establishment for an event that happened when my mother and I were dining in their Conroe location on September 2nd. We walked in, ordered our drinks and meals, salads came out (waiter wasn't the friendliest but sometimes that happens) ... Next thing you know a LARGE mounted fish they had displayed on their wall fell off and crashed down onto the left side of my mothers body. Luckily it hit her shoulder/arm and not her head. We sat there for almost 10 minutes before the manager arrived at which time an ice pack brought by another employee wasn't zipped and sent ice falling down my moms back and all over the still filthy booth that had us sitting in. I know accidents happen, but come on. We were told the corporate office would call us Monday (Labor Day, yeah right) ... To my surprise it's now Friday, September 9 and we have still yet to receive a call from them! How does a multi-million dollar food chain comp meals for individuals who cause a fuss during their "busy time" over God knows what but not even call to check and see if a REGULAR patron of their establishments is ok? I am outraged, disgusted and disappointed in the way this has all been handled. read more

Most attentive server I've had in a restaurant in a long time, I drink a lot of water and he never left me empty. The steak fries are breakfast potatoes not regular steak fries. Pricey as expected but great ribs! read more

Decor: For a restaurant that charges more than Outback or Roadhouse, I was disapointed that the interior wasn't more upscale. The exterior was brightly lit and clean. The interior was pretty dim and one of the chair seats at our table was cracked. We were seated in a back area with heavy curtains. There was a vacuum directly behind us that staff were messing with near the end of our meal. Waitress/Hostess: The hostess didn't really smile but showed us to our table efficiently. Our waitress seemed stressed but checked up on us often. She wasn't overly friendly but not rude either. Food: The bread is good. It had a very crispy exterior with a soft interior. Eaten alone, it was rather dry but paired with the sweet butter, it was better. I got the steak soup which was incredibly salty, almost to the point of being inedible. It didn't have much texture and I needed the bread to counterbalance the salt. My entree was the K-Bob with Mac and Cheese. I only took a few bites of the Mac and Cheese but didn't care for the amount of separated butter/grease at the bottom of the dish. It came out piping hot though. The K-Bob was the biggest disappointment of the night. I got 4 medallions- 2 of which came out medium well and 2 of which came out closer to the medium I had asked for. The medium well pieces were thinner and were incredibly dry. The vegetables were completely uncooked but had burned sear marks on them. It was basically raw zuchini, red bell pepper, poblano, and red onions. What put me off the most was that there was not a lick of salt or pepper on the steak or the vegetables. I don't know if it was just the K-bobs that don't get seasoning but it was very bland and, paired with being overcooked, probably the worst steak I've eaten. All in all, a very disappointing experience that I will be happy to never repeat again. read more

Great service and food. After sitting next door at Outback for over 10 min. and not being able to get the waitstaff to even approach my table, service here was great and timely. Definitely a better choice than outback and better experience for the price. read more

First the pros: it was poring cats & dogs when we arrived; the hostess gave us dinner napkins to dry off with & seated our group of seven fairly quickly. Our server was attentive without being overbearing & got all our orders correct. I ordered the 6 oz filet with seasoned vegetables; which was cooked exactly medium rare & the veggies were well cooked. Our dinner salads were good & I love their croutons. Cons: Mr wasn't thrilled with his ribeye. He said it lacked flavor & was not medium rare. Others in the group were so-so with their meals. When the plates came to our table the presentation was horrific. The food looked like it was slapped on the plate in a big rush or something. An order of Grilled shrimp on a skewer was barely on the plate much less in the center; without any garnish or anything. They were busy last night & maybe understaffed in the kitchen but the presentation was not up to Saltgrass standards. read more

My waitress, Destiny, was amazing. PHENOMENAL service. She has a great personality and was really accommodating. The food was great, and the dessert was enough for a family to share. We had the fillet Oscar and the Patt's Ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection. Great sides and they were willing to substitute the salad for an extra side. The hostess is the reason I took off a star. The girl who actually sat us was awesome but the girl who took our name seemed really stressed and unable to handle her job. Because of this she came off rude, which didn't match the upbeat atmosphere of the rest of the meal. We will definitely be back. read more

We are big fans of Saltgrass and were looking forward to taking my in-laws to the one near our new home. This place doesn't even deserve to be called Saltgrass. The bread was hard and dry, the avocado my sister-in-law requested on her salad (a thin slice for which she was charged $2) was brown and she had to send it back twice! (If I were the waiter I would have been embarassed to serve it the first time!), the steak was either over or undercooked -- not one came as ordered -- and the restaurant could have been A LOT cleaner! It was embarassing to have recommended the place! The following Saturday night we convinced them to go to the Saltgrass in the Woodlands with us and it was a COMPLETELY different experience -- clean, excellent service and the food was superb! Exactly what we have come to expect in a Saltgrass. Moral of the story is don't judge Saltgrass as a whole by the one in Conroe, especially when you can go to a real Saltgrass just south on 45 in the Woodlands. I hope Landry Restaurants gets a clue about how this place in run! read more

Went here for dinner Sunday night. We ordered the ribeye steak with sweet potatoe fries and onion rings as sides. Neither were hot and the ribeye steak was the thinest steak I've ever seen...Maybe 1/4th inch thick? Won't be going back. read more

Ordered drinks. Waiter forgot. Ordered Steak Soup and got a very sad potato soup. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak and was difficult to cut and eat. Our friends were very happy with their ribs and steak soup. Probably wouldnt go back as there are many restaurants at a better price point and food quality in the Conroe area. read more
