Visited Saltgrass Steakhouse in Conroe for a take-out meal. Isabelle met me and gave me some time to look over the menu, pretty extensive. Decided on their Grilled Chicken Dinner with mashed potatoes and the Chicken Tortilla soup. Everything was delicious...the chicken moist and tender with flavorful grill marks, potatoes great, and the soup was very tasty. Overall great food and the service from Isabelle was excellent.

Saltgrass catered my granddaughter's third birthday party, and did an excellent job! The theme was "down on the farm" so my son and daughter-in-law decided on ribs and chicken for the main entree. The ribs were cooked well and the rub was nicely spiced up. The chicken was grilled and tender, and the chicken tenders were fat and juicy! They chose green beans, Mac and cheese, Caesar salad, and broccoli as the sides. Everything was cooked well and the serving containers were perfect for storing the sauces. No spills whatsoever! If you know, you know and they definitely know how to cater! Now, I completely forgot to take pictures of the food, but I can show you how much fun we had!

Steak so tender you can cut it without a knife! Even if pricey, I'd eat steak here all the time if I could. Awesome for a chain restaurant!

Creamed spinach with a bit of salt and pepper was delicious. There are several well priced wines that were perfectly curated for the steaks. The big finish of the affogato was a fantastic finish. Why only three stars? There were two things that really turned off the meal. The plating of the dish with "a glazed carrot" (menu quote) and my fried potatoes. Two small pieces of carrot, not glazed and pretty raw paired with less than half of a potato wasn't great. Made the meal feel cheap in the plating. $29 for the dish was a bit much even for a steakhouse. Two carrots and more than 1 ounce of potato are an inexpensive addition and would have made the plate actually worth the hefty price tag.

Taste: Decent Drinks: elExtremely light... did they even spike it? Came here on a Friday evening with the family. Apparently, everyone around Conroe had the same idea, because this place was packed... like cattle in a holding pen. They offered us a basket of fresh rolls while we waited for our table, which was a genuinely nice touch and set a great first impression. Unfortunately, 5 baskets of rolls later, it was obvious what our favorite part of the meal had been. The steak was disappointingly rubbery and lacked the flavorful crust you'd expect from a good sear. It was under-seasoned too - with barely even a hint of salt. Not sure how they achieve the deep grill marks... Makes me think they cook them too much in advance and just reheat them before serving for a customer. The sides were okay, but nearly everything felt unnecessarily oily or greasy. Between the noisy, chaotic atmosphere and food that didn't live up to the price or the wait, I'll be satisfying my next steak craving somewhere else.

We had a group of 10 on a Thursday evening and were the only customers on the patio for most of our visit. I want to make it clear that our waitress was excellent. She was attentive, hardworking, and did her best despite being repeatedly let down by the kitchen and management. Several orders were prepared incorrectly. A steak ordered "as rare as possible" arrived medium-well. It was remade, but still was not cooked as requested. My catfish platter was strangely lukewarm, while another guest described her catfish as rubbery. An order of fish and chips arrived without the chips. A pizza ordered with bacon, pepperoni, and onions came with grilled onions that were not requested, and the bacon smelled and tasted off. Another guest ordered loaded potatoes as her entire meal. Without warning, she was charged $8 for what was described as a double portion, even though she never requested a double order. What arrived appeared to be approximately one cup of roasted potatoes and did not look like a double serving or a complete meal. When we asked to speak with a manager, Andi told us that she had to answer to the kitchen manager and could not address the charge. She then said she was busy and walked away without offering a solution. When I attempted to explain the problems from this visit and the previous week, I was told that the owner, Teek, is usually at the newest location except on Tuesdays, is difficult for the staff to reach, and that I would need to find him myself rather than having management take my contact information and request that he call me. Restaurants make mistakes, but repeated incorrect orders, questionable food quality, missing items, unexplained charges, and dismissive management are not a single mistake. They are a pattern. Our waitress deserved much better support, and our group deserved food prepared as ordered and concerns handled professionally. After two bad experiences in a row, Pacific Yard House has permanently lost our business.

Fortunately, Stone Cold Meats recently took over this space, and I was really excited to check them out because their other locations were highly rated. And it turns out: I see why. I came here to stock up on Super Bowl food: steaks, burgers, sausage and some sides. Almost all of it was a home run. Or, a touchdown, I guess I should say. I ordered 3 bone-in ribeyes and they turned out to be really great. I was a little concerned because they were not nearly as pricey as they are at some nicer butcher shops, but my concerns were unfounded. Great steaks, great prices. I also ordered some brisket mac-n-cheese, two different kinds of potato salad, some brisket burgers and some sausage stuffed with mac-n-cheese. The potato salads and sausage were a big hit. The burgers and mac were just okay. But that's okay because the important stuff was awesome. When I purchased my stuff, the woman asked me if I wanted to sign up for their rewards program. Normally I hate giving my information out, but I was happy to do it in this case. Apparently, you can get some really good deals once you earn enough points. I foresee a future with many points earned.

Come to find out Marsala's also has a location in Huffman, but they are not related to my other fav spot. Inside, the restaurant is actually small, I was expecting it to be much larger. They do bring you their garlic knots right at the beginning of the meal, but they did not look or taste much like my other fav Italian place in NE Houston. The bread at Marsala's was dry and crusty (the other place has soft and pillowy bread) and there was no drippings or garlic butter resting at the bottom of the bowl, so I just ate a little of the interior of the knot itself. I ended up choosing a lighter dish, shrimp scampi, since I was still full from lunch and my dining companion chose the chicken penne. I'm not sure whether the chef was out sick or what happened exactly, but both dishes came out from the kitchen really bland. There was no salt or seasoning to the food. The pasta also didn't seem like the water was salted during cooking. We mentioned this issue to our server, who then told the manager. They were really apologetic and even comped our entrees even though that wasn't our original intention. I just wanted to know what happened and why there was no seasoning at all in the food. We left and of course didn't bother to order dessert. In summary, the service was really good, I will give them that much, but the food was barely edible. I'm just not sure I would even come back to try other dishes since these two we ordered just could have been so much better.

I felt overall the place was small and the service was relatively slow in comparison to the amount of people there. Everything just seemed to take a little while. The bread was HUGE and a great part of the meal. Easily one roll was 2-3 normal ones and tasted great. Piccata is my judgement dish of choice when visiting a new Italian place and I found this one lacking a bit. The tomatoes and artichokes were a strange choice, the veal was breaded like Parmesan and the breading was constantly falling off, and overall the sauce was relatively flavorless. It wasn't a gross dish, but I felt it didn't truly represent piccata. We don't regret coming here, and of course are only tourists, but I personally might not come here again.
