Service was great, our waitress was very kind and helpful. My boyfriend ordered the baby back ribs and they were completely burnt to the point of being inedible. I asked if they could just comp the meal because we didn't want to wait another hour for the ribs to come out. The waitress assured me a new rack would be out in 5 mins..yes, 5 mins. My wife talked me into going to saltgrass because my oldest son loved his first time going about a month ago. My youngest son and my wife split a 10oz sirloin steak, while my oldest son got an 8 oz sirloin steak. My oldest sons steak was perfect, the steak they brought my wife was very very dry and looked over cooked on the top. When she flipped the steak over the waitress said OMG I can't even believe I brought that out to you and took it to the back. My whole family was done eating, all of our food was late. People who had come in before us got served before us and were done eating when we got our food and the place had cleared out. The manager brought my wife's steak out and it still looked pretty bad. It was a new steak. But the manager didn't seem to concerned. We haven't left yet and I haven't complained. I'm hoping that the manager has the decency to remove my wife's steak from our tab. If so I will re-evaluate my review. If not, I just way overpaid for a poor experience. Oh well you live and you learn. read more

WELL, COLOR ME HAPPY !! finally, a decent meal out of Texas!!! We went here after church on Sunday. This was our last day on vacation with family. Our server, Michael R. was great! My daughter in law ordered the coronarita, which is a Marguarita with a Corona sticking out of it! We had soup and salad choices with our steaks. I had a wonderful bleu cheese & bacon wrapped filet, with a side of broccoli.. just fantastic!! Others had the ribeye and there were no complaints!! We ordered the brownie skillet crumble, and lemon cheesecake, and the carrot cake for dessert.... just a really good meal and great service. The worst Saltgrass I have ever eaten at. Quite possibly the worst resturant service I've ever experienced. Chicken fried steak was burned and so tough a steak knife wouldn't cut it. Waiter repeatedly reached over our food and drinks instead of asking if we could pass him something. The hostess was the only positive thing about the place. She did her job and was curteous. Service was superior! Hostesses greeted us friendly at the door. Servers were taking care of every customer. I even witnessed a table of three receiving their entrees simultaneously by three servers (rare for this level of steakhouse)! Our good was exception, prime rib and pork ribs. Bread was warm. Usually the food is actually pretty good. The problem is for the price you can do better. But my problem is with the management and some terrible customer service I have received. Lost reservations, long food wait times, and they even lost my Landrys card. Never once have been even asked if they could make it up somehow or problems ever fixed. You can go next door to outback which to me is a much more casual restaurant and the management is far better. Why would you pay more for less service? I never write negative reviews, and I felt the need for this one. read more

I would definitely recommend stopping here for great food. Out of six dinners ordered at my table there was not one complaint. Personally I had a grilled chicken plate. Usually it's hit or miss on chicken at any restaurant depending on the chef but this chicken was perfect. Very juicy and tender. Pricing is a little high.. $20 a plate or more.. If i could give no stars, i would. The mgt seemed very attentive the day of dining, but the corporate office lacks in customer service and over all courtesy. When you call to complain of an incident, the staff member is very "matter of fact" and plain rude. I am going out of my way to NEVER dine at an establishment owned by Landry's and or Tillman Fertitta. Reviews on the over all corporation as an employer was not good as well, should have guessed. The steak was juicy, although you may want to check it, ordered a medium well steak, got a what looks like a medium rare on certain parts. Was still good. This is the best American food I have found since moving to Conroe. I have loved here for six months and this place hit the spot better than anywhere else. I went in a skeptic because of some of these reviews, and came out a believer. Service was great food was great and atmosphere was great. For an appetizer i got he artichoke dip, and it was better than expected. I ordered the baby back ribs. They literally fell off the bone. I tried cutting up the ribs and just smashed it into a big pile of pork because it was so fall off the bone. That was bomb. The waiter was awesome very friendly dude. Went here a few weeks ago, ordered a meal for my husband and I. They did not include a side and we were forced to share because we picked up close to closing time. I called back and spoke with someone who promised a free dessert for the trouble. Fast forward to now, we decide to try again and order. Then I mention my dessert and was put on trail to try to figure out if this happened or not. Wing ago it is. Never giving them my business again! Make the customer happy and never make them feel like they have to prove something to you. I spoke with three different people. Having to re explain myself. Not for a FREE MEAL but for a dessert a manger offered me! My family and I went to Saltgrass for my son's 18th birthday. First of all, the service is unacceptable beyond reason. We had 4 waiters/waitresses that did not communicate which resulted in messed up food orders and overall confusion. Secondly, we went to Saltgrass as a celebration for my son's birthday and they don't do anything for that. We asked and they said that they can put a candle on a dessert we order. Disappointing. And lastly, one of our waitresses pressured us throughout the entire meal to sign up for the Landry's reward system. This made the night awkward and tense. Delicious dinner with top notch service. My husband and I enjoyed a great meal at our local Saltgrass. Our server Mark provided us with great recommendations and excellent service. I had a ribeye, sweet potato, and the wedge salad. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium well with wonderful flavor. My husband enjoyed a beautiful prime rib. Jason came by and packed our leftovers, he even packed extra sauce for my husband. The combination of great food and great service will make us frequent customers of the Conroe Saltgrass. read more

I have never experienced such horrific service (mediocre, overpriced food on top of it). Not even 10 minutes into our meal, I set my fork down to take a drink of wine that my server just brought to me. Another server asked if he could take my plate (which I had not even gotten through 1/4 of). I said, no, I I am not finished. I may want a box later, I will let you know. He comes back with a box and takes my plate from me! He boxes it up! Then our server asks if we want dessert or the bill while my husband is still eating! Went to Salt Grass Saturday and ordered the 9 0z prime rib very rare with a wedge salad and baked potato. Well the wedge salad was not traditional and had some kind of sweet dressing a few bacon sprinkles and very little chopped tomatoes but the lettuce was very cold. Not that great................The prime rib was cooked well done with lots of fat and gristle. I'm so mad at myself for not sending it back but I hate complaining and dealing with all that. Asked for second serving of bread but our waiter was either to busy or just forgot. Usually Salt Grass is my go to place for prime rib but this time I guess Salt Grass just didn't care! I'm going to try Outback Steakhouse prime rib next time I get the craving, plus they are 3 bucks cheaper! read more

The chicken-fried steak was something but not a chicken fried steak. when you fry fish or shrimp, crab cakes in oil and then fry something else, that's what it tasted like, they fried the chicken fried steak in oil that just came from cooking a crab cake. Just ate early dinner here at saltgrass steakhouse. Excellent service! My first steak order did not come out right. The manager took special care of me. The steak is excellent wow! 16 once rib eye was good. The lettuce was warm. And the most disappointing was the "loaded" baked potato. It was about the size of a medium red potato. The little round ball of butter fell off on the plate before it was delivered and not muck else was loaded into it. I did see a small sprinkling of something on it. They have big boxes of large potatoes on the floor as you enter the dinning room. That is not what they serve with the steak.
