    Salmon Caesar Salad

Longstanding modern facility all duded-up as a rustic ranch steakhouse with a long bar counter down one side. Our waitress Sabrina was fantastic, she had tables furthest from the kitchen, yet was able to care for all on her own. We sat on Southside section, quiet area, overhead music was perfect volume. Early Dinner Menu appealed to us; Vaquero Tacos, and a Salmon Caesar Salad with iced teas. Warm light wheat bread was brought out, decent snack. Vaquero Tacos were very juicy & tender, good seasoning, with a savory salsa. The sweet potato fries were awesome too! Grilled Salmon filet atop a Caesar Salad was okay, the lettuce was a bit old, but plenty of shaved cheese and dressing helped me chew thru this. Good visit, and the crowd here was having a good time. Plenty of parking around the building. Horizon Road exit off I-30, Southside of 30, catch street in front of Starbucks, go past a bank, there it is! Or ride the 30 frontage road westbound past Ridge Road, then watch on the right.

I'm the kind of girl that enjoys month long birthday celebrations. Saltgrass helped me kickoff my celebration. Our server was a sweetheart, informative of the menu and attentive. He provided tons of recommendations that we were not shy about trying. The vibe of the atmosphere is definitely two or three steps above Longhorn Steakhouse if I were to compare it to another restaurant. We started with the brisket queso. Delicious! Salty but delicious! My partner ordered his usual, which I didn't get a picture of, ribeye, house salad and a baked potato. Flavorful and delicious as well. I ordered salmon and Brussel sprouts. DEE-Licious! I also had a martini which was equally amazing. For my birthday I was gifted a slice of cheesecake topped with strawberries and whipped cream. It was okay. But, my partner loved it.

Bank charges for my paid order online - however the restaurant states they don't see the order at the restaurant? Solution pay again because the payment should drop off since they don't have it, that don't make sense to me; so I end up paying cash & today the payment posted. I'm now having to dispute charges with my bank. So I will never pay online again so Beware

Second steak in 20 minutes. Ordered medium, got charred well done. Manager Judy's poor attempt to fix it. I'm done waiting for incompetent cooks and management who can't fix the problem.

    Yummy leftovers!

Great food and service. We went on Fathers Day so it was packed but we didn't feel rushed while we were eating.

Really good steak. Pretty cool atmosphere. Nice people. Only downside is the wait. I think everyone in Rockwall eats here.

The experience could not have been more pleasant. Our server was Natalia V. She was what you would expect from a server - attentive, friendly and made you feel appreciated. Please ask for her as your server. Trevor gave us a sample of Chicken and Sausage, and Seafood Gumbo. My sister chose a bowl of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo which was the better of the samples. It was full of chicken and sausage, flavorful with a nice spice, and a meal by itself. I had Pasta Monica dinner, which Trevor indicated was one of the best-selling dinners. It was excellent. It had a good amount of Shrimp and Crawfish tails in a Parmesan cheese sauce that had the right thickness and amount of spice. The Cesar salad was one of the best I have had. The romaine lettuce was fresh and crispy, crunchy croutons, and the right amount of fresh Parmesan cheese and flavorful dressing. We split the Key Lime pie and asked that the strawberry drizzle not be added. We are not sure why strawberry drizzle is added since it does not complement or enhance the pie. The Key Lime was better this time without the drizzle. We sat out on the patio during our first visit and had issues with flies and crows. It was too hot to sit out on the patio this time. However, we noted Dodie's has made an attempt to eliminate the flies with table fans. Overall, Dodie's is a good Cajun restaurant, and we consider our June 13, 2026, visit an aberration. I highly recommend giving them a try.

I started with the garlic edamame, Kani salad, and gyoza. The gyoza are pan fried perfectly! Some places fry them too hard or deep fry them. The kani salad is a mix of shredded cucumber, spicy crab mix with spicy mayo, and roe. I ordered the Angry Dragon roll and the Rockwall roll. The Rockwall roll is sweet with coconut shrimp wrapped, topped with spicy crab mix and coconut sauce. It's delicious! The atmosphere is very nice and intimate. Darker in the dining room with table lamps. You're not looking around the room at everyone, but more focused on just your party. I will definitely be returning to Basil Cafe more often! Can't wait to try more sushi! Thanks again Annika for a great experience!

Overall, the food was solid with a few standout items. The spicy tuna roll was excellent -- fresh, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The ramen was also quite good and comforting. The hibachi steak, however, was a bit of a surprise. The steak was cooked exactly to the temperature I requested, but it (along with the vegetables) arrived slightly cold, which took away from the experience. The fried rice also lacked a bit of seasoning and could have used a little more flavor. While this wasn't a bad dining experience by any means, I'm still on the search for that standout spot in the area that truly checks all the boxes. That said, there are definitely some dishes here worth coming back for.

I explained to guy that I didn't want it cooked all the way since we weren't going to eat till 5-6pm that night. He then told me to just stick it in oven and it'll be fine. Awwhh NO!!! Can you say food poisoning I decided to re-cook once we were ready to eat later that day. We were pleasantly surprised at the favor. Lil heat but not too much. The shrimp were larger than most other places. The crawfish did have great favor and we enjoyed it all. The dinner came with 2/potatoes and corn. Which were rather large as well. I'm excited to try out the crab legs, and sausage too. They are only open on weekends. In a church parking lot, so be prepared to wait. I believe there were only two workers in trailer. One taking orders, and the other cooking. They do offer sauces for dipping. And all the orders are in large metal containers for big orders. Place your reservation early in week. That way they you can get your fix before they sold out. And your stuck without crawfish or shrimp when you have the craving for it. They accept cash, and all forms of credit as well.
