I'm not too jazzed with this location. The one in Rockwall is better. We entered and no one acknowledged us. We were seated quickly, since there were no other people here at 2pm on a Sunday. The waitress was nice enough but would hardly say a word to us. A different waitress brought out the "garlic knots", which didn't taste fresh, and I believe she didn't speak English. I had the seafood fettuccine, which had a ton of seafood but it didn't taste fresh. The other two ordered lasagna, which they said was just Ok. We paid the bill, walked out and no one acknowledged us leaving. We'll definitely not come to this location again! read more

This was a terrible experience from beginning to end. My husband has raved about this specific pizza with Alfredo sauce instead of marinara and it was placed in Royse City. I am going to add that the place he normally orders from is in Rockwall. That's 7 miles down the road but, not including the other locations. Not unusual. However, when I call they're super rude while ordering. Granted we just experienced an ice storm so I dismiss the demeanor. However, I have my 14 yr old son go into pick it up and he confirms they're rude to him as well. Avoiding any contact and harsh vocals. Get home, my son and daughter's dinner, perfect. He got the chicken parm and she got a chicken parm sandwich. However, we got a large pizza with hamburger and pepperoni and substitute Alfredo instead of marinara. What we received was bread with a threat to sauce plus meat and cheese. After calling to say we were duped with sauce and tried to still say "its ok, I understand trucks can't come through" I was met with a quick hang up. They literally hung up on me. Now, I call back, not expecting a refund at all just confirming that it's not usually this way. They doubled down and sand "Benni" will cook me whatever I want when I come back. I'm not coming back and I don't want your money!! Anyway, Luigi's, specifically in Royse City is definitely not worth your time or money. This is my 3rd attempt to have dinner in this restaurant. The first time was horrible service and we never even sat down. The second time was something similar so we just left and thought it was bad timing. Things happen, short staffing or whatever. So finally my adult kids were craving Italian so we went tonight on my suggestion. I am guessing it wasn't coincidence the first two times because service wasn't great or even good. We felt like we were a bother. It felt like they prefer "to go"orders. But we kept on hoping for an improvement like maybe a slow start and to my disappointment it never improved. This will absolutely be the last time, no more chances for me. This is a Philly Cheese Steak, I think. At least that's what I ordered. Bread was rock hard. Meat was sparse. Completely unappealing sandwich and I tasted a corner of the meat and it was overcooked and rubbery. I didn't touch it again. My kids did enjoy the Alfredo and Pesto Dish. So it wasn't a total loss but also wasn't good enough to ever return for any of us. I should have really gone with my gut instinct and any restaurant that neglects the exterior of the business the way this one is ...is probably not really noticing attention to detail. So I recommend going once and checking it out for yourself but if you have a similar experience I think it's worth sharing with others because in my opinion we all work hard for our money and this place absolutely does not do anything to deserve it. He liked it but wasn't what he thought it would be. They also bring bread out at the beginning & it was delicious and flavorful. Love this place! The food is very consistent and fast when we place it for takeout! I've been a costumer for the Luigi's in Royse city for years and all the staff is pleasant. Although some people may think the "owner is rude" he's doing an efficient job and has for years EVERY SINGLE DAY(regardless if he's not talkative to all costumers.) We were in Josephine and passed by Luigi's as we drove back towards Dallas. Glad we did! The food was great except the rolls were hard and cold. We both had salads - and they were great. I'm a 31 yr old woman, ordered chicken fettuccini Alfredo, my parents split a lasagna with a side order of sausage, and what we thought were three salads with our meals between 3 adults and my 5 yr old niece. 2 salads with ranch and 1 Caesar. When the check came I double checked the menu because the salads were supposed to be $1.95 with an entree, $2.95 without. So 2 of our 3 salads should have been $1.95. We then went up to the counter to check out and asked why 2 salads were $2.95, and the Caesar was $7.95. Our unfriendly waitress said, "I asked if you wanted cheese and you said yes, so those are $2.95. The Cesar salad is $7.95." My Dad then said, "okay, it is what it is" and respectfully paid the bill, while I said I would not be returning. The other folks working there standing behind the counter did not try to get involved or remedy the issue. Not sure where the manager was on a Saturday night. After investigating the menu again when I got home, a full Cesar salad is only $6.95, but she charged us $7.95. And again, I didn't ask for a dinner entree of Cesar salad because I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. This is so disappointing because it was my first time at this restaurant, which I told her when we were ordering. My parents just moved to Royce City and they've been there a few times, so they wanted to show me a good time. This is maybe the 4th review I've ever left on yelp, and this only because my Dad paid $13.85 for 3 salads when it should have been $6.85 and I just think it's so wrong. If all possible avoid this location. Go to the one in Rockwall. Even though it's the same name, this location has the worst service & food. I watched couples get their own menus & silverware. Also we had to ask for sweet tea 4 times & never got it. Eventually we got unsweetened tea. Terrible.... anyway my wife asked for extra cheese on her sub & she got no cheese. In addition her sandwich was burnt. My dish had artichoke on it when there wasn't supposed to be any it. This was our 2nd trip at this location because other businesses were closed due to bad weather. They were fast & friendly, so this review is for the pizza only - it was #notgreat. The dough was tough and overworked; the sauce was thin, and they left about a 2-inch wide flavorless crust on the edge, negating the fact I just paid for a large pizza. Pro tip for Luigi's: don't be cheap, spread your sauce and toppings to the edge, and DON'T overwork your dough! I could literally buy a better pizza from Walmart. Please up your game! read more

Ate at Luigis with my wife last night and had the weirdest/grossest thing happen. I walked back to the restroom and the chef was standing there peeing with the door wide open and the light off. I knocked on the door frame to let him know I was waiting and he said "one minute". Then he turned around, grabbed a paper towel without washing his hands and walked out. It's one thing to piss with the door wide open, but to not wash your hands, especially with a customer standing right there...Pretty nasty stuff. That was our last trip to Luigis. read more

We lived in Royse City for many years and Luigi's was one of our favorite restaurants. And it still is; so any time we are in the area we stop and eat there. We were in town for a memorial service on February 19. After we left the church 20 family and friends went to eat. Although Luigi's wasn't expecting such a large group in the middle of the afternoon the food lived up to our expectations. Whenever we eat Italian anywhere else we use our experience at Luigi's to measure the meal. I just wish we had one in Temple, Texas. read more

I've always heard good things about this restaurant. There is one in Royce city where I live and one in Rockwall I believe they are sister restaurants.... Maybe?. Anyway stopped in for dinner one night at Royse City. I wasn't overly impressed, it wasn't terrible but nothing somewhere I would say I just had to return to. The food was good but not great. They are kinda pricy also. For my daughter (3 years old), husband and I , it was about $60 or so to eat. We had mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and they were very good but I think over priced for 4 pieces. I had a buffalo chicken Sandwich which was good but again over priced . My husband had a calzone and he enjoyed that. My daughter didn't eat her spaghetti, but my husband ate it for lunch the next day and said it was just your typical spaghetti. Nothing really stood out to me about the place. The interior of the restaurant is simple, there are maybe 10 booths and a couple tables on the side I sat on, I believe there was another part to the restaurant but didn't explore it. There Was An Italian man I presume was the own there and he was very stern and nothing close to friendly when we checked out which you do by bringing the receipt to the register when ready to pay. read more

The best Italian this side of the world. This place makes everything it serves in house and it's pasta and bread are AMAZING! We used to live in Forney and would drive all the way here if we wanted Italian. Now we live in Allen and we still drive all the way to little Royse City, TX for the best Italian. Luigi's makes big chain Italian places like Olive Garden taste like canned Chef Boyardee. Tonight My wife and I had their special, chicken pesto. Hands down the best pesto I've had my entire life! The fettuccine pasta was perfectly al dente. The artichoke pesto was amazing with chunks of artichoke and grilled chicken. The bread served with every dinner is hand-made and ridiculously soft and moist on the inside and crunchy and buttery on the outside. Perfect for sopping up sauce and using as an extra utensil. We also ordered the olive oil and fresh garlic appetizer to dip the bread in. If you are not a garlic lover, don't get this. It's full of delicious minced garlic and some basil with the oil. Very strong garlic, but it's so good with the fresh bread! So far I've had the chicken pesto, the lasagna, cheese ravioli, and egg plant parmesan, and they were all astounding dishes. Every dish was stupendously executed. The portions are always huge and very take-homeable for a second meal. We will continue making the 25+ mile trip when we want a fresh authentic hearty home-style Italian meal. This isn't just food, it's enriching. You can taste the care and culinary art that goes into every recipe. I haven't had everything on the menu yet, but I'd be very surprised to find something sub par. Calamari obviously was frozen before hand and extremely rubbery. Felt like eating breaded condoms. The salad, so disappointingly bare. I ordered a side salad and it was just lettuce with one slice of a tomato. No onion, nothing! And the dressing for the salad was like oiled down marinara. The man at the counter was very unfriendly. Ok, I love the location in Rockwall but can't stand this one. They are never busy for good reason. The bread is old because no one comes a second time. We left before eating the main course because the building and grounds were shockingly run down, the staff didn't give prompt service despite no one else to serve (literally), the appetizer bread was horrible even though we asked them to bring out fresh bread to replace what they initially brought and we got tired of watching staff hanging out with each other. It was a horrible experience without a redeeming quality. read more

I called in an order to go. I told the person on the phone that I wanted to order Chicken Parmesan, but that I wanted Fettuccine Alfredo pasta with the entree rather than the standard spaghetti with red sauce that comes with it. I also ordered a side Caesar salad. The person then said something that I could not understand, attempting to confirm the order. I asked him 3X to repeat what he said, but I still could not interpret what he was saying. I then repeated what I ordered and he ended the call. When I got to the restaurant, the order was ready. However, at the counter, he rang up a bill for over $30. When I asked to see a receipt or menu, he became angry, saying he told me 3X on the phone what I ordered. I again explained I did not understand him on the phone and again asked for a menu or receipt. I had to ask 3X for a menu before he allowed me to see one. When he gave me the menu, I found the Chicken Parmesan listed for $10.99. I did not understand why my total was about 3X that, since it was the only entree I ordered. He then attempted to explain that he was charging me for 2 entrees and a full size Caesar Salad. I again explained that I only wanted the pasta substituted, at which point he gave me a new total of just over $26. I again asked for an explanation and he showed me the menu saying he was charging me $7 just for Alfredo Sauce. He was also charging me $7 for the Caesar Salad. I then declined to pay $7 for the Alfredo Sauce (this was ridiculous), and left paying $19.26 for my $10.99 entree and a $7 Caesar Salad and some of the garlic rolls they toss in with every order. When I got home 10 minutes later, the rolls were so hard/stale that I was only able to eat a small part of them and had to throw the rest away. The Chicken Parmesan was great, as well as the spaghetti with red sauce. However, the ridiculously priced $7 Caesar Salad was soggy and saturated with Caesar dressing. It had obviously been sitting in the dressing all day long, and was almost inedible. This was a most disappointing visit to Luigi's Pizza and Pasta. read more
