Chicken and bacon farm salad. Portion size is huge and their dressing is sooo good
    Nhu H.

This is my second time dining at salty sow and once again the food did not disappoint. We sat outside on the patio with our pups and even though it was 99 degrees outside there were plenty of fans on the patio to keep us cool. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. To start, we had the chicken liver mousse and that was good but my favorite app so far is the bone marrow. I am obsessed with their chicken and bacon farm salad. Their house made dressing is so good and the portion size is massive. My husband had the fried chicken and collard greens and really enjoyed his meal. I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in Austin.

I have wanted to try this place for a while! It is an upscale gastropub vibe. The deviled eggs were some of the best I've had! The shrimp fried rice was just okay, I wanted to try it since it was on the daily special list. Our server was helpful. It was pretty good overall, I would go back for the deviled eggs!

Another five star experience at Salty Sow starting with the reservation process, which was done via OpenTable. After making the reservation, I messaged the restaurant to let them know that we would have a doggie with us and to make sure that we were able to sit on the patio to allow for said dog. The restaurant had prompt communication back stating they would note the reservation, which I really appreciate it. They were having a private event so part of the patio was taken however they still had ample space for other patrons to enjoy the outdoor area. Part of three our server I didn't catch their name was just OK. They ended up at one point accidentally pouring water into my wine glass for a refill and they did replace the partial glass of wine. Food wise though was on point. Got the whipped ricotta and bone marrow to start then pork shoulder, beef shoulder and fried chicken for the mains. All was delicious with healthy portions for left overs. The original order included Brussels sprouts as well but those didn't make it to the table nor on the ticket. Beverages were fine as well the area of improvement would be to ask if another round would be needed. As mentioned before the service was just ok as we didn't really get checked on often enough. Overall good experience and place to take friends and fur babies!

On a super rainy day, we walked in with reservations for three. We ordered the chicken, liver mousse, the truffle fries, and the Wagyu burger. I asked for the Wagyu burger cooked medium rare plus; however, they only cook burgers medium or medium well at the salty sow, so I asked if they could try to cook it with a little bit of pink in the middle. My favorite meal of the day was the chicken liver mousse, which was an appetizer. It was light and packed with flavor. As for the service, the weight staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked how clean the restaurant was, and I liked that there was ample free parking. I'm excited to save room for dessert next time because I heard the desserts there are pretty amazing from my nephew.

An excellent food establishment in Austin! I recommend making a reservation online for best service. Clean and well polished restaurant! Their foods was amazing! Our order: - biscuits (so flaky and buttery!) - deviled eggs (very strong truffle! So if you don't fancy that keep that in mind) - rosemary fried chicken - pastrami sandwich

We chose Salty Sow as our belated valentines date and it was kind of a mixed bag. We were sat right next to a heater and the fire was huge lol. The hostess let us know that if we needed it turned down, we could ask our server. We ended up asking our server if they could turn it down and we were told that wasn't possible because other patrons would freak out. Very confusing but not the end of the world. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and the beef shoulder. I'd like to take this moment to gush about this pastrami sandwich. It's probably the best pastrami I've ever had. I'm usually not a pastrami fan because I've only experienced dry pastrami until now. There was nothing dry about this sandwich. The meat was super moist, the bread was soft without being mushy, and the horseradish cream sauce really took it to another level. HUGE fan of this sandwich! The beef shoulder was so disappointing. There wasn't any part of the dish that was hot or even warm and the flavor was just lackluster. I ended up finding an egg shell and that just sent me over the edge lol. Having a dish made up of mostly soft components and randomly biting into a violently crunchy egg shell is a textural nightmare for me. Unfortunately, it completely turned me off and I couldn't continue to eat :( Overall I probably wouldnt return for a date night, but if I was in the area and needed a quick bite, I would deff stop in for the pastrami sandwich!

I met up with a longtime family friend and her family for dinner at Salty Sow, and overall it was a nice night. Good company, good conversation, solid drinks, and a cozy vibe. I hadn't been back in years mostly because of the parking situation, but figured I'd give it another shot. The good stuff first. The duck fat fries were great. Super crispy, well seasoned, and actually hot when they hit the table. The drinks were really nice too, and I appreciated seeing Austin Eastciders on the menu for those of us who aren't beer drinkers. Our waiter was attentive without hovering and really helpful throughout the meal. Now the not so great parts. Parking is still wild. There's basically a tiny lot with one handicapped spot and not much nearby once it's full. Even though I live less than 2 miles away, rideshare honestly feels like the safest bet. Just not super convenient. The website also needs some love. I checked the menu ahead of time and didn't realize it was outdated. I went in planning to order the fish and shrimp beignets, but they weren't available. Then I tried for the short ribs and they were sold out. I ended up with the beef and mushrooms and it was just okay. Not bad, just underwhelming. We were seated right by the front door, and with the recent cold weather and the door constantly opening, I was freezing most of the meal. Not the most comfortable spot to sit but I wrapped my legs in my coat. All in, it was a mixed bag. Fun atmosphere, good drinks, great fries, but between the parking, menu inconsistencies, and an average main dish, it didn't totally wow me. I'd probably go back for apps and drinks, just with lower expectations and definitely not driving (or only go when they first open)

4.5 Stars We had a girl's happy hour here on a Thursday. The menu consists of creative, animal-centric dishes. We were so impressed by the massive portions at happy hour prices (listed below): * Chicken Liver Mousse ($9) - rich and delicious * Honey Rosemary Fried Chicken ($13) - so tender, and fried to a crispy perfection * Catfish Tacos ($14) - I didn't try this one but it looked marvelous, with corn and guacamole on the side Drinks - * Rosemary's Piglet ($12) - a nice and refreshing complement The interior is cute and cozy - nice enough for a date night, but also un-pretentious enough for a casual meeting. There is also a large patio to sit at. The staff were very polite :)

If you're looking for one of the best happy hours in Austin, look no further than Salty Sow. Happy hour runs every day from 4:30-6:30, and it's consistently outstanding. We ordered a mix of favorites to share. The catfish tacos and pork carnitas tacos were packed with flavor and perfectly cooked and the honey fried chicken was crispy and juicy. We also shared the smoked pork shoulder entree which was tender, rich, and incredibly delicious. Dessert sealed the deal. The bread pudding is easily some of the best bread pudding I've ever had- warm, indulgent and perfectly sweet. One thing that really stands out about Salty Sow is the consistency. Everything on the menu feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. Whether you're coming for happy hour, dinner, or a special night out, Salty Sow always delivers. It's a go-to Austin spot for a reason.

It took years for me to dine at Salty Sow and now it's taken me years to write this review, but here we are so let's get into it. Parking: They have a small lot out front as well as street parking. We took an Uber so we didn't have to worry about the parking situation. Service: We were seated immediately on the covered patio when we arrived. Unfortunately, it took awhile for our server Tarah to come over, but once she did, the speed of service improved. She was very nice. Drink: I had the Blood Orange Frozen Margarita. I don't typically go for frozen cocktails, but it was a warm evening, so it was very refreshing. App: We started with the Truffle Deviled Eggs. I love deviled eggs and our server told us they were the best in the city. While they were good, I wouldn't say they were the best in town. The yolk could have used more seasoning. Entrée: I had the Genuine Blackened Redfish. It had a nice crispy skin and the flavor was good. I enjoyed the lemon butter flavor. Sides: I didn't care for the BBQ Hominy. The Collard Greens were too vinegary for my preference. Overall, the meal was underwhelming. It's been a few years so I would be willing to go back to give them another try.

Was wandering around Manor and needed something hearty but not fussy. Salty Sow has been on my list forever, so I finally went in for a late dinner. Atmosphere: Rustic-chic without trying too hard--dim lighting, wood + tile. It reads "date night," but you'll also see big share-table groups digging in. Food: Leaning into the shareables was the right call. The duck-fat fries with the soft egg are exactly what people say--rich, crisp, and better once you break the yolk and toss everything so it coats. Brussels are blistered and a little sweet-tangy, the kind you keep snacking on even when you swear you're done. I also got the steak since I was really hungry. Cooked perfectly medium rare, and the waitress let me replace the duck fat fries with another side choice. Service: Warm, quick with refills, and very attentive. We were sat quickly around 6:30 PM on a sunday, I imagine it may get more crowded on busier days though. Wrap-up: Comfort food with polish, lively room, and service that keeps the wheels greased. If you want a spot that feels a little celebratory without going full white-tablecloth, Salty Sow hits the mark.

Overall it's a really cool place. We sat outside but the table was crooked. They did have some heaters out because of the chill in the air and it gave a good atmosphere. We go there right at the end of happy hour but were able to order a drink and the deviled eggs which came very quickly and were tasty. Went with the mash special which was good but I felt like it could have had more meat. Had tons of potato's. If you go, you will put some calories in your daily Intake. This is not a place to eat healthy so be aware.

Guess we couldn't have stayed in a better spot. 8 minute walk from our Air BnB. It's a lot bigger than it looks on the outside For starters we got the pig face dumplings and ricotta. Oh and the broccoli which was so good. I got catfish tacos. Wife got pork shoulder and best friend got beef shoulder. Huge amount of food. I tried some of everyone's and it was all amazing. My friend loves his beef raw. They didn't ask him how to cook it and he was super impressed by how rare it was. Some cool mocktails that I tried. Very good.

Streets were full of people. Anthem had a vibe. I felt the energy as soon as I waked in. The cozy booths with the U shaped seating with plush green velvet fabric. Wait staff wore Hawaiian shirts. Sitting up behind me on a ledge was the Easter Island statue. Insert (Night At The Museum) here, dumb dumb give me gum gum. Anthem was our first stop tonight. Just drinks and a dinner. I ordered the Peach Fuzzy drink. Not too sweet, refreshing, peachy, and beautiful garnish of a flower. I ordered the Yummy Fries which looked like a salad. Gorgeous presentation. Fries were actually waffle sweet potatoes. Pickled ginger, sesame seeds, furikake, aïoli and a few other wonderful ingredients. Could not get over how beautiful everything looked. Presentation outstanding. Service delightful. Had a wonderful time at Anthem. We both did use the ladies rooms before leaving. Inside the bathroom there is a sign about safety and if you need assistants. I did take a picture of it. On our way out, Brian the manager, said good night to us and waved. We later saw Brian at another place. And I'll write about that in my review for that place as well. Brian, you're Doll, thank you for your hospitality.

The Pacific Islander decor is cool and the vibe is fun. Asian fusion dishes are solid. Sunday happy…read morehour is worth it. Only downside is the place gets packed and service slows down. Still a great spot for drinks and small plates.

What went well? EVERYTHING. TL;DR, come here…read more The pleasant young lady who took my last-minute reservation over the phone was quite helpful. Our server, Sarah, was the absolute best. Warm, engaging, knowledgeable. She thoughtfully considered my preferences and offered a few irresistible options, She got the chef to weigh-in on a drink pairing I was debating. I chose from the daily specials menu: Veracruz snapper and a sauvignon blanc. Finished with the most luxurious chocolate torte and an espresso for dessert. It was a flawless meal. What a perfectly delightful hour and a half spent with my daughter in a gorgeous space, with beautiful food, and sunset-over-the-water views. At the end of a busy day, where do you wanna go for dinner? Roaring Fork is the right answer.

My husband and I try to keep a standing Friday night date night, but sometimes...life happens. So,…read morethis week, we moved things to Sunday and ended up at Roaring Fork. From the moment you walk in, the place pulls you in...the open kitchen off to the left, the smell of food drifting through the entryway. It immediately feels warm and inviting. The dim lighting paired with big glass windows gives it that cozy, romantic vibe. If the weather cooperates, the patio overlooking Quarry Lake can be ideal, but it was way too hot for that, so we happily stayed inside with AC. I also love that this is one of those places where you can show up however you feel. We kept it casual, but you wouldn't feel out of place dressed up for a special occasion either. It strikes a nice balance...comfortable but still special enough for a date night. Our server, John, came by right away with water and menus and offered a few recommendations, which we appreciated. He was clearly covering a large section, so service wasn't super attentive, but he was doing his best and stayed friendly throughout. As for the food, my husband went with the burger and fries while I ordered the chicken with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Everything came out hot, well-seasoned, and easy to enjoy...solid, satisfying choices all around. That said, the food almost felt secondary. What really mattered was just having that uninterrupted time together, catching up and reconnecting. Great food was an added bonus...
