Is the Sunday brunch buffet back? Yes! Is it better? I'll let you decide. Salty's stopped offering the Sunday buffet during COVID and recently began offering it for special holidays. Now it's back and offered every Sunday. We called to make a reservation for our party of eight and were informed there would be an automatic gratuity of 20%, which I found understandable, as this policy is typically associated with larger parties. Last time I went was in 2019, and while my memory could be off, I think I remember paying roughly $50 per person. Current price (for Adults) is $90. That's an 80% increase in price! I understand things have gotten more expensive globally - however with an increase that high, I'd also expect the buffet to be vastly different (for the better). Because of the larger party size, we were seated in the basement/banquet area (with a few other parties of similar size) overlooking the water. The view was certainly spectacular. Our waitress came by and took our drink orders (alcoholic drinks are not included) then we all went upstairs to grab some food. There were certainly a large number of options to choose from, including bacon/sausage, eggs benedict, and many seafood choices (crab, shrimp, oysters). There was also a custom omelet and pasta bar flush with toppings. The food itself was pretty good. The prime rib was cooked well, and I enjoyed the custom pasta the most! The dessert options were plentiful as well - complete with a chocolate fountain to dip various treats in. The service and pricing are where the restaurant loses a few stars. While I do think our waitress was trying her best, she had many tables she was waiting on simultaneously which meant things like drink refills, clearing of dirty dishes, and general check-ins were all inconsistent/not frequent enough. We even ordered one drink that took 30+ minutes - at which point we asked about and were told the drink spilled and was being remade. To me, the service was not reflective of the automatic 20% gratuity. It felt like they were understaffed or just didn't allocate resources properly between the top and bottom parts of the restaurant. On top of that, they add a 4% "service charge" to the bill. What this goes toward, I am not sure, but having to pay 24% in service charges/gratuity for our experience was disappointing. If you need to add a "service charge" to a bill, just increase the price of the items in general to avoid charging an extra 4% at the end. The waitress did apologize for the service and indicated it was not reflective of a typical experience there. She also offered for us to stay until the end of buffet (an extra hour) - a nice gesture but we were already full so we ended up leaving. I do want to note - every employee I interacted with on the floor (cooks and other staff upstairs) were very helpful and friendly. All in all I wouldn't recommend the buffet for the price. Maybe our party did catch them on a bad day, but we won't be back for the foreseeable future. Total price for 8 people (5 adults, 3 kids) was $748.18 (inclusive of sales tax, service charge, automatic 20% gratuity). read more

Salty's was my go-to pick to celebrate my wife's birthday, as I was already familiar with their excellence from their Portland location on the Columbia River, and I wanted a romantic place with a stunning view of the Seattle skyline after sunset. In this, and (almost) every facet of our dining experience here, Salty's did not disappoint. I say "almost", because one thing rubbed me wrong that I would like to mention first, to get my one complaint out of the way before lavishing the praise this restaurant truly deserves, and that is this: things that are generally included with an entrée at other restaurants, such as soup, salad and/or bread, are all a la carte items here, meaning you *will* be charged for them. The bread is an obvious one, since it appears on the appetizers portion of the menu (and is *absolutely* worth the price, because it is phenomenal), but the soup and salad, which we were inquired/offered by our server, were not as obvious, so it was a shock to see them (and their prices) on the bill at the end of our meal. Caveat emptor. Sticker shock aside, the meal was worth every penny. I went with the New York strip steak, atop a bed of garlic mashed potatoes, and alongside a prosciutto-wrapped bundle of asparagus. Fantastic! My wife ordered the Lobster and Prawn Bucatini, which was similarly incredible, and made me wish I'd ordered it myself. These were accompanied by the aforementioned a la carte sides of a Caesar salad, seafood chowder, and that wonderful garlic bread and butter. We were excited to make reservations for the 4th of July for dinner at Salty's to celebrate the holiday and enjoy the expansive waterfront view of the Seattle skyline. We checked in with the host to see if we could possibly get seated a bit earlier than our 9:00 PM reservation. She said she would see if that was possible and would let us know. We didn't get a text or hear anything back. Okay guess it didn't work out whatsoever. We returned to the host station about 5 minutes before the 9 pm RSVP to get seated. The other host said oh we are checking you in rn and will let you know when we're ready to get you a table. I looked at the host we spoke to earlier and asked wait didn't you already check us in? Why are we just now getting checked in on your seating rotation? She gave that uh oh I messed up face and realized she should figure out how to fix her mistake. Our dinner order: Lobster & Prawn Bucatini $58, Bulgogi Marinated Roasted Half Chicken $38, Harbor Ave Roll $19. 1 cup of Clam Chowder $10. Dessert order: Chocolate Lover's Cake $15. The portions are small & extremely disappointing. The server, Troy, was not empathetic to our feedback regarding the lack of lobster on the plate of the Lobster & Prawn Bucatini. He basically told us we could speak to the manager regarding our situation. Usually, servers will go to the managers first and relay feedback and issues to request that the food gets remade, offer another dish, or offer to comp the dish. The operations manager, Patrick, told us that the cooks use a scale to measure out 2 oz of lobster to portion out for the dish so unfortunately he could not bring out anymore lobster for my plate. Seriously? That is a ridiculous response to a guest that is expected to pay $58 for a lobster entree that has a minuscule serving of lobster. It's fraudulent to list it on the menu as a lobster & prawn entree. Salty's should do the right thing and call it a Prawn Bucatini entree because that's what you're actually getting served. The tiny bit of lobster pieces were dry and completely overcooked. The prawns/shrimp were cooked perfectly and were nice and tender so props to the kitchen staff for the great effort there. The Bulgogi Marinated Roasted Half Chicken did not have a half portion of chicken on the plate. It was 2 small pieces of dry chicken, a sad drumstick and another small piece of chicken. The Harbor Ave Roll was awful tasting. Do yourself a favor and skip this appetizer. The Chocolate Cake tasted good, but it's a very small slice of cake for $15. We left Salty's disappointed, underwhelmed, and still hungry as the portions for all of our entrees were significantly lacking and NOT commensurate with the steep prices. We will not return and CANNOT recommend Salty's to anyone looking for a restaurant with delicious food in Seattle. The food was a 3/10 letdown for a bill that totaled more than $100.00. The bill included a surcharge of almost $4.00. I have no idea what this extra service charge is accounting for tho. Our server was Joseph and he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My entire family really liked Joseph and would go back to Salty's just to have him as our server. The entire experience was great. The buffet price at the time of our visit was $95 for adults and substantially less for children. Saltys has been a Seattle establishment since 1980. The patio views of the Seattle Skyline from its Alki location are unmatched and thus a popular place to take out of town guests during the spring and summer months. My family and I went to Saltys at Alki for weekend brunch. We made reservations in advance and were seated in the lower patio where there was less wind. This was my first time visiting Saltys, but my parents have been here several times before and said that the interior looks exactly the same as it did 20 years ago. Upon my first impression, Saltys reminded me of Ivar's Seafood House with its sea and sailing decor, but on a much larger scale with huge banquet rooms, large upper and lower patios, and lots of indoor dining space. They have heating lamps too for guests who don't want to get cold from the coastal breeze. Since my family went for brunch, Saltys had both breakfast and lunch dishes available. Since it was nearing noon, we all decided to order lunch entrees instead of breakfast. We ordered the GARLIC CHILI PRAWNS (+$28), the BLACKENED COD TACOS (+$29), the KALBI MARINATED BEEF SANDO (+$26), and the STEELHEAD BLTA (+$27). We also ordered a couple cups of COFFEE. The GARLIC CHILI PRAWNS were served in a tomato, cilantro, and lime oil sauce with some smashed avocado. It was served on a grilled baguette- think like a hybrid of bruschetta and pico de gallo. The prawns were large and juicy and paired well with the oil. However, it was quite a heavy dish with the bread and so I ended up just eating most of the toppings. The BLACKENED COD TACOS were nice and moist. It came with two tacos served in corn tortillas and topped with cabbage slaw and queso fresco. The cod though was almost slightly undercooked though as it didn't flake when you put your fork into it. The outside also was barely blackened. It also came with a side of bright red tortilla chips (which are definitely not naturally colored) and roasted tomato salsa. The chips tasted fine, but the roasted tomato salsa was too sweet for my liking and lacked the extra kick of heat. The KALBI MARINATED BEEF SANDO was basically a banh mi. The menu said it came with furikake fries, but when we got the sandwich, it just had their regular beer battered fries on the side- still good, just not what we were expecting. Of the dishes, this dish was the smallest as the baguette slices were on the skinny side and there wasn't much meat in between the bread. The STEELHEAD BLTA, in comparison to the beef sando, was GIGANTIC. It had two thick pieces of steelhead trout in between sourdough with bacon and avocado. It also came with a side of beer battered fries. If you're hungry and looking for a filling dish, this is the dish for you. The COFFEE was excellent- super smooth with no sour or bitter notes. I drank mine black, but my mom added some cream to hers. Both ways tasted fine, but it didn't really need the cream in my opinion. Service was wonderful. Our waiter, Ben, was attentive and came by to refill our coffee and water several times. He was also prompt to bring out our food within 15-20 minutes of ordering. Note that Saltys automatically adds a 4% surcharge per check, but 100% of the proceeds go to the restaurant staff. We celebrated a belated Mother's Day brunch at Salty's on Alki, and it was everything we hoped for--and more. Our mission was simple: Dungeness crab... and wow, did we get our fill! The crabs were incredibly fresh, sweet, and flavorful--we even brought our own spicy Thai dipping sauce, but honestly, they were so good they didn't even need it. Next the price was astronomical and I knew this beforehand but I still wanted to go to take my family for what I thought would be good food and nice experience in celebration of the Easter holiday. The prime rib was tender and I got a well done piece. The only reason I gave them 4.5 stars was because there were no crepes! At brunch I need crepes. It was a beautiful, dreary morning with seabirds flitting about as I walked into Salty's with my brother. The place was packed, absolutely humming with activity, every table was full, and legions of waitstaff were bustling aboot. We were seated, given instructions, and my belly gurgled excitedly. Here's the dealio folks, a lot of ya'll just do this shit wrong. Given that it's really really easy to spend $45-$60 on a basic breaky at a hip restaurant for one, a $90 price tag for an all-you-can-eat buffet of fabulously fresh food at an upscale seafood restaurant is a steal, but you have eat with purpose. If you don't take advantage of the menu options offered, don't whine about the price. If you expect impeccable gourmet food, don't go to a huge buffet, even at an upscale restaurant. And if you expect to waited on like a Greek god, don't go to the most popular Sunday Brunch in all of Seattle (the waitstaff doesn't need your entitled BS). I'm a glutton. I ate every ounce of my bill and I loved it. Our server was very nice and very attentive. And the view, well ... It's Salty's. I'll be returning. Came for birthday brunch. The team decorated the table and added a birthday card welcoming the (81 year obirthday girl. Very thoughtful. The hostess was delightful - very warm and friendly. The staff was very attentive- our glasses were never empty and they checked in often, despite a full house. My sister said the reservation process went smoothly. Grilled asparagus wrapped in procuitto, with a warm aioli (nice touch!) Golden beet salad looked delish- the birthday girl gobbled it up. The egg dishes were prepared well - our server Lindsay (awesome service!) wielded a baseball bar sized pepper grinder table side. Burger and fries were good - it wasn't cooked to medium and the fries were not as hot as they could have been, but it was still tasty. The white chocolate mousse cake was light and fluffy, the key lime tart was on point - just the right amount of tartness. They complimented each other well, if you aren't able to decide, which was my mom's dilemma. Overall a nice Sunday experience. Bathrooms were clean, and plenty of parking/easy walking distance from the Seattle water taxi. read more

I highly recommend this restaurant!!! Beautiful decor! Beautiful views throughout. Food was delicious. I would definitely dine here again. Our server was amazing ! Attentive and sweet. We celebrated my husband's bday and he got a nice big slice of cake with a candle. Nice gesture! read more
