I love this little place. Set in a mini mall type complex, Teacup in sits near the Loving Hut restaurant (vegan food) and a sushi place. Its a small compact boba tea and snack place. I stopped by on a whim to see if they had real matcha (the real stuff, not the sweetened powder) and they did, so I was excited to try their version. I can confirm it was fantastic, a perfect ratio of matcha to milk. The boba was great, a little chewy with that tiny amount of bounce and just a hint of brown sugar, not too sweet. They have a large variety of drinks and creative coffees, plus delicious looking snacks with an adorable area to sit and hang out. There is ample parking and I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Crushed that they will be closing Halloween 2025. I came to really appreciate and enjoy their house-made boba. It lasted longer and tasted better than your average black boba. Honestly disappointed. My boyfriend I and really like this place and frequently go here and are even part of the rewards program. We ordered a milk tea and mochi waffle. We waited for about 15 minutes to be told that the cashier gave it away by mistake. But assured us another one would be coming out. We wait another 10 minutes and I go and ask about the mochi waffle. Turns out they're out of stock and they gave the last one to a guy who did not even pay for it! I was really annoyed as the cashier didn't seem to care that we waited 30 minutes for nothing, and did not even comp or offer something just out of courtesy. They just offered a refund which honestly wasn't worth my time. As someone who worked fast food before, a better system to confirm order pickups would avoid this inconvenience. The workers today were super nice and energetic today. I got a loud greeting as I walked into the door and it was cute. They were very friendly and quick to help get my order. The takoyaki was so good. The outside was super crispy and the inside was so soft and generous with the octopus. I do wish it had more sauce to match Japan's but the abundance of flakes on top were so pretty as they danced from the heat. It was only $5 too for 6, so it was a great value. The Jasmine milk tea tasted like syrup today. Usually I love their drinks, but I feel like it just wasn't mixed enough maybe? I usually get the earl gray but I felt a Jasmine mood today and while the Jasmine tea flavor was strong, the taste was a bit off. The boba was chewy and very good though. I was so happy I discovered Teacup! Out of the many boba and coffee locations in Elk Grove, this is my favorite one to revisit and camp out to do work. Not only are there a variety of drinks that are delicious and reasonably priced compared to the other locations where I'm paying $6-8, but there is plenty of seating, outlets, food, and is overall a good study environment. The only con was that sometimes the music can be loud, and it can be very cold at times, but those are minor in comparison. DRINKS: They have a great jasmine tea, sea salt coffee (strong and bold flavor), and mango sunrise (mango smoothie with blended strawberry and mango ice cream--omg delicious) drink! Their drinks tend to run on the sweeter side though, so I usually get 25%, and it tastes like my usual of 50% sweetness, so I would definitely recommend going down in sweetness. The only drink I haven't loved was the matcha me crazy, that was supposed to come with matcha pudding, but they unfortunately were out of it, so it was average. I've tried their fried tofu which isn't too bad, but I would want to ask for extra seasoning next time since it was very light in flavor. I came on a Friday noon time bc I was in the area. Today I ordered jasmine cheese foam with 50% sugar and a royal milk tea with brown sugar boba and 50% sugar. I also ordered a porn corn chicken. The drinks are 4.75 each and it's one size. The popcorn chicken is $7. I had a birthday free drink (thank you teacup!) and a free topping from previous loyalty points that I can now redeemed. The total came out to be around $11 ish not adding 18% tip. After trying the drinks and food, the jasmine tea is floral and tea like, not milk like. Mixed with the cheese foam it was a good combo. I'm not sure what kind of syrup sugar they used to mix it with the tea but it slightly change the taste of the tea a tad bit. The cashier let me try the jasmine tea by itself and it tastes like a premium tea. The chicken is better than I remembered but it was cooked pretty dark. A pinch away from being burnt. It is not salty and the seasoning wasn't underwhelming or overwhelming. The only thing I thought was damn so little for $7.00. I think the pricing for the drinks are so reasonable but the chicken was a bit high for the amt charged since it's only slightly half the container. The setting is open and spacious and clean. This is a great spot to hang out and chill with friends or to do some work too. read more
