Went back to Yume Gelato again today to enjoy a bit of reading, scrolling, and good flavors. It really is my favorite spot, though I wish I could visit more often. I was going to wait until Friday, but glad I came in today because they had two of my faves (blueberry cheesecake and key lime pie), but also a flavor I wanted to try so badly, which was the hojicha. I'm glad I came today because this was their last pan and I was able to take two pints of it home! The only bummer (not on Yume Gelato, at all) was that the company next door seems to have blocked off their parking for Yume Gelato. Not kind behavior, so it means less parking, so if you can carpool or walk, great, but I'm too far away for walking, unfortunately. read more

The goat cheese and apricot tasted fresh and perfectly sweetened but the goat cheese overpowered the apricot flavor. I settled on a coffee flavored gelato with brownie chunks and paired it with a deep chocolate flavor. The only thing that kept this establishment from earning five stars was the consistency of each flavor. It was slightly runny like cake batter. I'm on their IG every week to see what their new gelato selection is. My favorite is Berries from the woods and Strawberry Mascarpone hands down. They have so really good seasonal flavors as well. Finally got to try Yume Gelato. Lots of free parking in the back (always a plus), but the entry can be easily missed. When Folsom Blvd is busy, it would be hard to turn left into the lot. It's between the Smog Express and the old cleaners building. I'm always craving something sweet later at night, so you need to come early to get some gelato here. Limited hours Wed - Sun 1pm - 9pm, closed Mon & Tues (why I gave 4 stars) Before going in, we looked at their available daily rotating menu on their FB page to determine what we'd try packed in a pint. They have pre-packed pints & any flavors in the display for $12.99. We got Carmelized Honeycomb and Matcha Strawberry Mochi this time around. The honeycomb was the right amount of sweetness for me, with a vanilla base and a light carmel ribbon with tiny bits of honeycomb. The matcha, for me, was a heavy matcha flavor with minimal mochi bites and no strawberry to be found. The overall feel inside was cute and clean. We arrived around 4pm and there was a good line in the queue with all tables being turned over with customers enjoying their gelato inside seating, they also have some benches outside. If you want larger packs, maybe for parties or the family, can all agree on 1 flavor, they offer 2.5L for $60 and 5.5L for $130. We'll be back with family visitors who love gelato. read more

Probably a little overly short and sweet one on this quick review. Seems like a fairly large location for a mom and pop gelato shop but I'm all for it. Plenty of space and not crowded at all. Love that they had the AC running too. Too many times I've been to an ice cream shop where the freezers were running of course but the building was so hot that the ice cream would start melting as soon as you got it. They have a decent variety of flavors to choose from and everything I sampled was pretty good. My friend and I both ordered single scoops and were pretty satisfied. Came here for some gelato after finding it online and seeing all the great reviews. I honestly don't know what other gelato places there are nearby. I got the small size and I didn't finish just due to how filling it was. They have a lot of flavors to choose from, my favorite was the Eggnog flavor. The eggnog flavor was creamy, rich, and tasted so good. Without being overly sweet. They have some dairy free flavors as well. You can get multiple flavors in one cup which was nice since and they do offer samples. The place is very cute and clean. We were able to sit inside and even though it was late there had a good amount of customers. The staff were nice and answered our questions. The parking lot was a little confusing because you couldn't turn in front of the shop but behind it. Will definitely come back and try more flavors! read more

Fantastic gelato place! Decent assortment of interesting flavors. Check Facebook for the flavors they have available that day. We sampled a fair number of flavors and they were all excellent. My favorites were the California pistachio, which tasted exactly like eating a handful of the nuts, and the raspberry mascarpone, which was more or less like eating a fruity cheesecake. Family got the pink guava, mango sticky rice, and amarena cherry with chocolate chips - an intensely fruity cup. Texture was nice and smooth but not too dense. I once tried this amazing cream flavored gelato in socal and have since been on the hunt for one in norcal. while this isn't the most "authentic" gelato as some critics would point out that they're in open containers, it doesn't make it any less tasty. while the gelato wasn't as creamy or rich, the flavors were amazing. highly recommend kinder bueno and cookies n cream. There was very limited parking as the neighboring business posted a A frame sign stating no Yume parking here. Luckily I got 1 of 4 spots available for the business. This is tucked away as it's on Folsom Blvd which is a main street, but its not very well illuminated and is lacking signage/luster from the street. It's easy to pass right by if you didn't already know it existed. The flavors are homemade and change I believe weekly. Each time I've been here there's only ever 1 employee. I ordered the large so that I could get 3 flavors with honeycomb, blueberry cheesecake, and a coffee flavor. The water cookie is an up charge of 50 cents. They do allow free samples which is nice. It's kept very clean and they have plenty of options. Their hours are a bit hit and miss when I'm on that side of town I think I've come twice with friends and each time. It's not been open. It's fresh, creamy and not overly sweet and made with love. I was just informed this time of a punch card. I wish I'd of known about that sooner, but hey I'll still keep coming back. What got the 3 stars was the customer service... it was my first time there and I had two ladies talking to me while I was trying to parent and assist in making a selection. Instead of one person helping me - I had my head on a swivel asking them to repeat themselves because I could not make out what they were saying. Yes, it was odd. And off putting. Also, kids sometimes eat this stuff really slow. The cups were thin and and ended up overflowing. Ask for a bigger cup for littles so they don't lose half of it in their lap trying to hold on to it. GET MIKES BREAKFAST HERE. I'm telling you right now that was life changing. It tastes exactly how they describe it of a ferrero rocher. And that is one of my favorite candies of all time and to have it in ice cream form.. oh my... the sharp chocolate with blends of a buttery chocolate and the hazel nut and the textures all around is so amazing. If I could, I'd come here everytime they offer it. Unfortunately I've been to this place several times, and some days I miss it. Don't get me wrong though the other flavors are great such as any cheesecake, and even the fruity things such as raspberry. I'm not a big fan of fruity ice cream but I was very surprised to enjoy and experiment the flavors they offer here. If I'm in this area and just finished dinner, Id always come here for dessert. I love food and say I do have a sweet tooth. I have an ice cream maker and have made various ice creams and gelato (which i prefer to make and eat) I have been wanting to try out gelato places throughout NorCal area. Upon arriving you noticed a small building with string lights in the front and medium size parking to the side. Love the aesthetics - gives me a modern-day coffee shop vibe. Prior to my visit, I was following them via instagram. I noticed they have a handful of revolving flavors, along with their standard gelato flavors. It appears they have 12 gelato selections which is nice to see at a "gelateria" They also post flavors available to purchase for pint size to go. I purchased a medium size which can get 3 flavors - strawberry, chocolate heaven(vegan) and a cherry Stracciatella. I tried the pistachio and Mike's breakfast (Ferrero rochet type flavor) the pistachio had a natural color, which you can tell they use real pistachios vs using food coloring / artificial. I enjoyed both flavors but preferred what I got. I thought the chocolate heaven was richer and not a sweet compared to Mike's breakfast which I loved. The cherry flavor that I got reminded me of a "cherry garcia" flavor but natural tasting knowing they use real cherries and with the thinly chocolate stracciatella crunches in every bite. Last flavor was the strawberry gelato, like the cherry flavor, you can taste the fresh strawberries used. To top off the gelato cup was a thinly pressed waffle cookie which was a nice complimentary add on to your order. All flavors have enough sweetness to help complement the fresh ingredients used. The gelato had a stretch to it and along with a denser texture taste, which sets it apart from ice cream, along with other factors. Service was great. The Employee help with suggestions and let me sample a couple flavors. Looks like you can also order espresso as well, which I didn't try but would like to try the next time that I will be back. I love Chocolate Heaven - it's the most decadent chocolate gelato you'll ever have. All of my friends also really enjoy the non-vegan flavors - you can taste every flavor it's supposed to have. I have a friend who lives close by here and I remember it was starting to open right before covid but I didn't get a chance to check it out, but low and behold finally got the chance to try this place. Walking in it's very mellow and quiet. Very "instagram" cute modern look and feel. They do offer samples so you can try as many as you want. Couple of flavors I was like eh but I ended up picking the Italian eggnog, coffee cheesecake, and cookies n cream. The girls working were super sweet and when I said I wanted a large she had doubled check if I only wanted the two flavors and i was like "wait, I can get a third flavor ?!" She said of course and then started recommending what flavor to combine with the two I've chosen. Now the flavor and quality of gelato. Superb! Super super creamy and not overly sweet. Although being very rich and filling it had a somewhat light fluffy texture. Now don't get me wrong I DO NOT think this is 100% REAL 100% AUTHENTIC gelato, but honestly who cares? It's more creamy and more milk like gelato. I appreciate also the unique flavor selection. Usually gelato places have the exact same flavors every other place has and doesn't feel new. This place provided unique new flavors that I can't wait to go back and try more. FYI they also do pints to take home if there is a flavor you really think you need a surplus of. Yume gelato is my absolute favorite gelato spot EVER! I used to work for an ice cream company so I've been around a lot of ice cream and gelato. I have yet to find any shop that is better than Yume. I stalk their IG page to see what flavors they have. Faves include: cookies & cream, tiramisu, kinder bueno, and birthday cake. They have such a huge variety of flavors which are always changing. The variety is great but waiting for my fave flavors to come back can be torture (hence the stalking). But Yume's gelato is totally worth the wait. I don't think I've ever had anything I didn't absolutely love. Another plus, is that they offer excellent vegan options. I've had non-dairy and vegan ice cream and gelato before. There was something off about the texture or consistency. But that has never been an issue at Yume. Dairy and I don't always get along so having non-dairy options is a plus. We came here to celebrate my eldest daughter's birthday and invited my family to join us. This place is really clean and there's a good amount of seating indoors. They have a good selection of flavors. The girls behind the counter were friendly, we were told that we could sample the gelatos before choosing the flavors we wanted, which was great. I really enjoyed the roasted almond and my kids loved the cookies the cream. We also added the wafer on top for an additional 50 cents.
