Another of our party ordered spaghetti and meatballs side, which he also enjoyed and was a huge portion. We loved the hot breadsticks. The only down side is that my daughter's entree was late. The server told us that the kitchen had pretty much just spaced it and didn't start making her food with the rest of our order. She did not receive her entrée until all of the rest of us were completely finished eating. Well, we were good natured about it and didn't create a fuss or complain or asked to talk to a manager,, but Salvatori's also didn't take the initiative to offer any additional words of explanation, apology, or even a coupon off our next visit. My daughter's entrée came out so hot, that the ceramic plate was actually steaming. Ordinarily that is not a bad thing if she would receive her order at the same time as everyone else.. She felt so awkward about having to wait until it cools off before she can eat, and knowing that all the rest of us were finished and waiting on her that she just pretty much asked for a box and packed it up to take it home. That was a bit of a bummer.

Crispy crust with a chewy middle, tangy red sauce, and good ole low moisture mozzarella. While I didn't love the house made sausage (it had a funky spice that I couldn't quite figure out), the pizza itself is some of the best I've had in FW. If you've been to NYC pizza joints, Johnny Ox brings back those memories... Definitely worth a stop to grab a slice or two (or a whole damn pie).

The carnivore medium pizza was dry and overcooked, and when you grabbed a piece, all of the toppings fell off. The small Thai chicken pizza was overcooked, dry, and hard to eat. It was like eating cardboard. We tried to eat but threw most of our food away in the trash. I really want to go back and try others, but I don't know if I will, unfortunately.

The only reason I can surmise that Mancino's is even still in business is because a small but dedicated band of local patrons is intent upon supporting local restaurants, even when they're horrible like Mancino's is, with bad food and bad service, and there are numerous other, better options nearby. For sandwiches, for example, Firehouse Subs, Jimmy John's, and Jersey Mike's all come to mind. They're all consistent in terms of food and service, unlike Mancino's, where the experience you have is continent upon which irresponsible college kid is left managing the shift on this particular evening. The pizzas are terrible, but Mancino's manages to peddle them to unsuspecting kids at Sky Zone as part of the party packages. Of course, people who book those parties aren't told what restaurant is providing the pizzas beforehand.... When I tried the pizza, the sauce was overly sweet and had little other flavor besides generic or phony parmesan cheese. The toppings weren't fresh or flavorful, and they were scant. Coming from a restaurant that brags about all of their fresh baking, I thought the pizza crust would be delicious, but it was nothing to write home about. The grinders are great sometimes, and awful other times. The quality all depends on who is working, and whether or not they bothered to check for old food, follow the preparation instructions, or cook your grinder properly. The staff doesn't bother to follow any sort of special requests. If you want to add something or leave something off, that doesn't matter to them. The Bosco sticks were their most delicious menu item, until I was served a batch that had been left well past their expiration date, and i noticed mold on the breading. That's when I stopped visiting Mancino's. Also, yes, the bread is baked fresh daily, but that doesn't meant they only serve the bread that was baked fresh today. When I asked about the fresh bread, I was told that it all depended on whether or not the baker--the owner's mom--actually bothered to show up for work that morning. Mancino's is never more busy than when the dining room is packed with police officers. Why is it such a popular dining destination for cops? I asked them. It's because they get a 50% discount. The cop I asked actually said, "I only eat here for the discount, not because the food is good." Despite printing coupons on the back of local grocery store receipts and in flyers like the Money Saver magazine frequently that say nothing about being unable to combine with other coupons, employees get testy if customers attempt to use more than one coupon. (Say, if several people are in a large party and one person wants to get free chips with their grinder and drink order and another wants free fries with theirs, and each has a coupon, well, no can do, even though the coupons don't say that anywhere on them.) I've been charged for items I'd didn't receive numerous times, and told they didn't have items (like desserts) on a few occasions because employees didn't bother to remove the stale or expired ones and replace them with fresh food. Do yourself a favor and get your pizza and grinders elswhere. read more

How can you live in the Fort and not visit the original Spring Street location that was founded by Lexy Demetroff since 1957? Well...I've now checked that one off my bucket list! I ordered a medium Everything pizza around 4:30p on a busy Friday evening. They quoted me a 40 minute wait time...and they were spot on. Lexy's pizza menu and prices are typical of most non-budget pizza places. They offer deep dish pizzas as well. The Spring street location is small with ample parking in the back. There is thin table that lines two walls with bar stools. I suppose you could eat in. However carry out is most common. The kitchen is wide open to the entry way. You can watch the pizza artisans doing their craft. I found the team here to be very friendly and welcoming while focusing on pizza making. In my first trip to Lexy's I found the pizza to be quite delicious. The crust is thin. The edges are crispy - yes, really crisp. The underside in the middle of the pizza was soft and nicely baked. No obvious added flavoring to the crust. Pretty much a plain flour dough. Lexy's motto is "Generous portions, Quality ingredients"...and that is what I found. The toppings were piled high on a bed of ground up American sausage. The rest of the meats and vegetables were plentiful and tasty. The toppings were held in place by a thick bed of fresh mozzarella cheese. The pizza is well baked as evidenced by the crispy edges and "frico" browned cheese. The browned and slightly crispy cheese added a different taste to the oozing bed of mozzarella that was below the surface. The sauce was not as prominent as I hoped. The toppings dominated the taste. The bit of sauce I could detect was slightly sweet and had a good tomato taste. The whole pizza was nicely moist. You pick up a good blend of different ingredient tastes. Cold Pizza Test - the next morning the cold pizza tasted almost exactly like the pizza from the night before - delicious! The pizza was still very moist. The crust was still very crispy. The flavor from the toppings did tend to faded a little.
