My first time having wings at Redwood. They only offer a wing basket that contains 8 jumbo/large sized wings for $16. You have a choice of seven sauces. You may NOT split the wing basket into multiple sauces per our waitress. No apparent ability to order additional wings outside the basket - which includes a bed of fries. The wings were very tasty. They are large and meaty. Redwood dips the wings in a batter and then fries them. The batter is slightly thick and crispy - nice touch! The wing is perfectly cooked with no pink insides, tender and moist. I chose the teriyaki and garlic Parmesan sauces in the two different baskets I ordered (I thought 8 wings wouldn't be enough). The teriyaki sauce was moderately thin in consistency. It had a mild teriyaki flavor. Slightly sweet with no spicy aftertaste. The garlic Parmesan sauce was thicker in consistency. It has a nice bold garlic flavor. The Parmesan cheese tended to clump. Each clump brought a bolder pop of cheese flavor. The ranch dip was thin and had a mild ranch flavor. The fries were good - a bit softer and flexible with slight amounts of salty seasoning. I really wasn't interested in fries...but the basket was the only choice. We also tried the onion rings and fried pickles. The onion rings were outstanding. A thicker piece of onion inside a thicker breading. The batter was soft with a slight crisp. Only slightly oily. I was surprised how few rings came in the basket for the price. The fried pickles were good. A dill pickle chip with a very mild dill taste. The breading is thin, crisp and stuck to the chip nicely. Overall, I really liked the wings - though they are pricey. The breaded wing was really good! I wasn't fond of having to buy a basket. I didn't like having to buying another basket to more than 8 wings. I'm sure other wing lovers would like a few more choices than seven flavors. Solid 3.5 experience for me. I stopped by Redwood Inn Pizza on a lovely Saturday night. I placed a carry out order for a sausage roll. I'm on the hunt for the best sausage roll in the city and I've yet to find the one. The service here was courteous. I placed my phone order and was given a 25 minute time frame. Within that 25 minutes my order was ready. The establishment was lively, full of patrons inside and on the patio area. It appeared to me most of the customers were familiar with the bar/restaurant and they frequent it. There seemed to be a familiarity among many. As for my sausage roll it was good. Pro: great crust - brushed with garlic butter, good sausage- it was not mushy at all. Cons: the sauce was very much a tomato sauce . I like mine with a hint of sweet to cut the acidity. I wouldn't necessarily stop in again, as the sauce is not to my liking, but the roll wasn't bad. read more

We were really disappointed with our experience here. The restaurant was clearly understaffed for a night with live music. We ordered an 11" pizza, but it was delivered to the wrong table. A few minutes later, the staff told us we were "lucky" because another one had just come out, so they brought that instead. What we didn't realize until the bill came was that they had served us a 14" pizza, not the 11" we ordered. When we mentioned it, the owner's response was, "Well, did you accept the pizza?" Of course we did--we didn't realize it was the wrong size until later. Instead of fixing the mistake and charging us correctly, they only offered $2 off. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them says a lot. Charging customers for something they didn't order and brushing it off with a minimal discount is not good customer service. The definition of local restaurant on Main Street USA. My wife and I were downtown on The Landing and needed some sausage rolls and beer on a cool summer evening. The place was packed and their outside seating area was close to capacity. Nothing extravagant...just cold beer and good food. The fried pickles as an app had a great spicy breading. There were only 3 servers that night (poor local restaurants are just trying to keep their heads above water). Those 3 ladies were working their tails off considering the circumstance! The sausage rolls arrived and we dived into the cheesy goodness. The next time sausage rolls cross your mind, be sure to give Redwood a go and keep supporting local. :) read more

My deluxe pizza was yummy as well, I loved that the toppings were under all the cheese. I can't believe I just tried Redwood for the first time! I have always heard great things about their food and the atmosphere, so I finally gave it a shot. I was not disappointed! You can find this gem off Main Street across from Pedal City. The interior is dark and pizza parlor-esque with checkered table cloths. Did I mention the adorable patio space? Perfect for grabbing your friends and smashing on some pizza and beer! Our service was good. They were pleasant, helpful and got us everything we needed. Most importantly that ice cold beer! They had a variety of options both bottle and draft. I settled for my usual, a Two Hearted, which never lets me down! For food, we had to try the infamous sausage roll. We also ordered a tenderloin and chili cheese fries! The sausage roll was great! Topped with their house made BBQ sauce, talk about delicious! Great local bar downtown. Driving up you notice the front of the store and can find parking on the street or there's a tiny parking lot behind their patio. Sidewalks on each side of the street. Traffic is busy so be careful if you have to cross. Waking in you notice it's old and been around forever. Locals sit at the bar and tables. And they all stare at you when you step inside. I chose to site out on the patio since they just added it. It's adorable. There's a huge yard with corvhole and horseshoes if you bring your own stuff to play. There's a separate little raise patio with a riof for live bands or a dj which they had playing when I went. Several tables with umbrellas that was full of more locals and some stand alone chairs with little tables lined up against the fence rail. There's also another bar outside. Staff friendly and have been there awhile too. Standard beer prices with zero alcohol specials. And the food menu is pretty standard home bar food. I did order fries and the chili which the servers all said was good and the recipes been the same since they opened. Yum Getting my food I was ready to dive in. Chili is thick and full of meat tomatoes and a few beans that's rich in a mahogany brown color. What I was bummed about is they charge you extra to add onions and chees It's served with two crackers and if you ask for more they charge you .95. In fact they charge you for extra anything so keep note. First bite it's hot and rich and thick. Not spicy at all like they said so I asked for hot sauce. I wish I had jalapeño. That would have kicked it up a notch. As well as those onions and cheese that most chili's are served with. A few beans danced inside the sauce but they were easy to pick out. I couldn't stop eating it. I dipped my crisp fries in the chili too but preferred the ketchup instead. Fries were hot fresh crisp and lightly browned. But not worth the $3 price tag for as few fries I got. In fact prices are a steep on a few items. I would go back more if it was closer to me and love supporting local business. It was a nice night and we thought about sitting outside but stayed inside since it was threatening to rain. We ordered a supreme pizza and an order of loaded fries. We were happy with both. I have driven past Redwood Inn Pizza thousands of times...but it was not until they recently redid their outdoor space that I even noticed them! *Take note - cute outdoor space downtown* Redwood Inn Pizza is right across from Pedal City on Main Street. This area used to be more on the rough side but business owners are doing a great job of sprucing up the area. It looks very hole in the wall because it is just that. Actually it may be the definition of hole in the wall. Don't expect frills. Even the tablecloths have holes from what I am sure is years of wear. But don't let that scare you away! I stopped by with my sister for a quick lunch. We were greeted by an older bartender and she was lovely! You can tell it is a "regulars" bar and she was happy to see some new faces. My sister ordered the grinder special which comes with a soda and fries and I opted for the italian beef + cheese and it comes with chips. Both sandwiches were top notch!!! Chips and fries were nothing special. I have heard their pizza is da bomb - so I know what I am ordering next time. Unfortunately it was still a tad cold for patio weather but I expect their patio will be hopping this summer - especially with more buzz happening on that end of Main Street. My first trip here, was my dads favorite place for pizza & sausage rolls. Jane was our waitress and was very helpful. Had the half Stromboli and my buddy had the Italian. His was twice the size of mine but both were very tasty. Lots of mozzarella cheese and sausage along w/ a crispy bun. Onion rings also good. Redwood Inn is one of our favorite places to hang-out when the weather is nice. Their outdoor patio is casual and relaxing. Service has always been great even though they are usually pretty busy. Some of our favorites include: cheese curds, chili, sausage rolls, and on Thursdays--deep dish pizza!! The sausage at the Redwood is very fine and seasoned well--highly recommend it in your favorite pizza! They even have cauliflower crust for those looking for GF or low carb. I lived in Fort Wayne for five years in the early 80s and found the Sausage rolls and pizzas at the Redwood Inn a staple. I really can't count the times my fiance (now my wife) ate there, both dining in and take-out. It was consistently terrific. The place was nothing fancy--dark wood paneling, low lights, a simple jukebox--old-school, even then, but the folks who ran it were nice and really knew their way around the kitchen. Everything was scratch made and simply delicious. It wasn't always fast but was always worth any wait. A few years back, while traveling east from Illinois we decided to drive through Fort Wayne. We arrived at suppertime and, throwing caution to the wind, we decided to see if Redwood was still in business. We soon found ourselves at Redwood's familiar back door. Walking in was like traveling through time. The place hadn't noticeably changed. It even had some of the same songs on the jukebox. We ordered our usual--sausage rolls, and they were exactly like those we used to wolf down decades ago. I can't exaggerate what a joy it was to go back after all these years and find it to be just as tasty as when we left. Since I left Fort Wayne, I've learned how to replace many of the things I enjoyed there--its Coney Island Hot Dogs, it breaded, deep fried Pork Tenderloins, even its local Mexican food choices, but I've never found, nor have I been able to duplicate Redwood Inn's Sausage Rolls.
