10/10. Highly recommended. We've eaten here a couple times, now, and everything I've tasted has been great. We've had the spring rolls, egg rolls, samosas, fried shrimp appetizer, larb salad, pork belly salad, tom kha gai soup, panang curry combination style, drunken noodles with pork, and the fried ice cream. The service was top-notch: attentive and very friendly without being overbearing. All our dishes were brought out in order and quickly. One of the two times we ate here, the fried appetizers were a bit darker than they should have been, but they still tasted good. Ambience is great! The room is open and feels spacious, not at all crowded even with guests seated at multiple tables. There are a couple little nook areas that feel a little more private. The whole family agreed: the food is on point. Kids were happy, even when a couple of their dishes came out spicier than expected (due to over-exuberant self-placement on the heat level scale). I wish they weren't so inconsistent with their food. More times than not, the food is underwhelming. Our meal was cold, lacked flavor, and the meat was definitely expired. The beef was chewy, the chicken was cold, and the Thai fried rice might have been the oiliest thing I've ever consumed. Oddly, the pad Thai tasted weirdly sour? The samosas were okay, but also lacked flavor. We've been loyal for a while now, hoping things would improve, but sadly, we'll no longer order or eat at Salween. read more

First time trying Thai food and had a great experience. Our waiter was super attentive. We tried several appetizers and didn't have a bad item. We tried: Fried Samosa Triangle Puffs, spring rolls, chicken satay and a few others I can't remember. My friend got their Pad Thai and said it's one of his favorites in Omaha. I got Fried Wonton Noodles and loved the flavor and different textures. I really like how you can pick the spice level from 1-10. Salween Thai restaurant in West Omaha off of 144th was convenient for a takeout order tonight. Pad Thai Woon Sen with beef at spicy level 4 was selected. Also, the order of egg rolls completed the order. The food was packaged well, still super hot after 15 minutes. Level 4 was a good level for me, and there were plenty of beef slices in the dish. Wanted to try a new Thai place and one of my colleagues raved about Salween Thai. So I ordered their crab rangoon, pad thai and their mango sticky rice dessert. The crab rangoon were delicious! It came with this neon yellow sauce that's like a less sweet version of sweet and sour sauce. Very yummy! But the pad thai was awful. This is such a staple in Thai restaurants and I was so disappointed. First off, the smell was putrid and off putting. And it all goes downhill from there. The taste was much like the smell - rancid and stomach churning. I even attempted to rinse it off and I still couldn't get past the smell or taste. I can't even describe what it tasted like. Old takeout that's been in the fridge for a month? Honestly the worst pad thai that I've ever eaten. But the sweet rice mango TOTALLY made up for it! WOW! I would go back just for that! Big piece of mango beautifully laid over a bed of sticky rice with coconut milk. I could make a meal out of just that. It's heavenly. Like a cloud of deliciousness. I would try Salween Thai again but I wouldn't order the pad thai. Maybe I tried this dish on an off night. I'm not sure. But I'll be dreaming of that sweet rice mango for weeks to come. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant. We ordered carryout, waited over 45 minutes. Way under staffed . There were only 2 tables dining, several others waiting for their food. My wife's spice was 3/10 and was very spicy. The serving size was small, less than half of most other places. The food was decent though if you have the time and patience. read more

But, tonight was my first real experience...zany first rice heart ever! It was great, we tried so many things, they were all so good! -red curry: so refreshing, so flavorful, perfecto -pad Thai: good, not great, have definitely had better, not sweet at all small amount of chicken, too many sprouts -broccoli beef: fantastic! We should have ordered two, it was the fan favorite -sampler: not a fan of shrimp or tofu so wasn't a big hit with me but my husband ate it up! -wontons: pretty good! Super impressed by not only the food but the attention paid by the lady who took my order. I confirmed before driving here that they could make most dishes gluten free - which they can. I was greeted by a nice lady who went over the menu with me and even verified the green papaya salad could be made gluten free. I ended up getting chicken pad Thai extra egg, combo fried drunken noodle (no shrimp) with bean sprouts, and Thai style papaya salad. The Pad Thai was fantastic although next time I'll order it a bit spicier. The noodles were still springy but cooked and it wasn't floating in greased and not overly salty or sugary. Well balanced. My only complaint was they should give you more lime wedges but I had some at home. The drunken noodles I think we all agreed were the best. Good depth of flavor and spice. Again next time I'll be adventurous and get it spicer. Wish they had more broccoli though. The green papaya salad was yummy and I've never had that before so I have no comparison but it was VERY strong with raw garlic. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that but I did enjoy it and I'll be fending off vampires for probably a week! The food came out fast and fresh. The place is decorated charming. Service was pretty slow for a lunch. We ordered our food and were very clear that we wanted it mild. Very mild. I even told her I'm a wuss. It was very, very spicy. Also there was some very loud alarm/notification going off at one of the employee tables. I like this Salween Thai location, it is very nearly as good as the radial Highway location and it's much much closer to where I live. If you're ordering takeout, they are always very accurate with any additions or subtractions you need to make to the dishes. I don't think they've ever gotten an order wrong. That said, they are very busy so it does usually take about an hour to get takeout on a weekend night. The red curry and panang curry are probably my favorite on the menu. Their curries do tend to run spicy so I always order a zero or one on the spice scale. But they have this intense depth of flavor that I have not found anywhere else in Omaha area. I also appreciate the quality of the beef that they use, it's pretty tender. Their noodle dishes are out of this world. The pad Thai is some of the best I've had and the pad see ew has this slammin wok flavor that is hard to beat. I like that their noodles are very flavorful but not too greasy. I also really like their summer rolls, the fresh ones with the rice noodle wrapper. Very fresh vegetables and a nice way to get in something on the healthier side. Salween seems to be taking over the city, and it's a good place so that's not a bad thing. Although, I do really miss Fusion Taste, which I think was the best Vietnamese in town. I'm happy to see that Salween kept some of the Vietnamese dishes in the menu here, which is different than their other locations. The food is great as usual, just like in their other locations. I didn't try the Vietnamese menu, but I'll be back to at some point. The biggest issue here, just like at the other Salween locations, you can find yourself sitting for a while before being helped, and even longer to get your food. This was our first time trying Salween Thai and it did not disappoint! We went with take out and even with a fifteen minute drive home it was still hot upon our first bites. I had the Pad See Yew with low spice (2/10) and it has the perfect amount of flavor for minimal heat. My wife had their pad Thai with tofu. Her portion was huge.. Always enough for two meals. Salween Thai is clean, tasty, and a great place to have lunch or dinner with friends and family! Food : I ordered the yellow curry with broccoli instead of potatoes and added chicken. My mom always orders the drunken noodles (and says it's her go-to. Salween is one of her weekly favorites!!). The curry was a perfect portion and the coconut milk and spices were so tasty and really flavorful. The veggies seemed fresh and were cooked enough but not to the point of being soggy which was great. My only complaint was that I got a bone in my chicken and that is just something that sets me off, and leaves me unable to finish the meat in the bowl. I got spice level five and for me who loves spice, I was surprised at how spicy it was. If spice is hard for you, the lower the better. And if you love spice, I would still say go a number lower than your normal! Other than that, I really liked the yellow curry and personally would order it without meat next time! Like I said earlier, my mom loves the drunken noodles and they were HOT at a spice level of 8! The sauce combo and flavor was awesome and I wish I would've gotten the drunken noodles! Atmosphere & service : the atmosphere was actually really beautiful and clean. I appreciate the decor and how they tried to keep it minimal, open, and a bit more modern. Running a business is hard. A restaurant even harder. I love the food here.........however, I visited tonight to order food at 8:20 only to be told the kitchen is closed. Website, yelp, doordash, grubhub and their door says 9pm. If you want a loyal following, do as you say. If you don't care about your food or loyal customers, continue what you are doing. The flavors were popping & the heat level was just enough that I knew a level 6 would be too much! I fell in love & knew I'd be back sooner than later...so a few weeks later we went back opening Dine In night from Covid crisis. The wait staff all wore masks & were fast & friendly to serve. There is no accounting for taste and this may be one of those times when an excellent meal may be praised by one and condemned by another, but I think this was the worst Thai food I have ever had. But I have an objective observation that brings strength to my observation: All three of us who ate Salween's food agreed that all three dishes, Pad Thai, Pad See Yew and Drunken Noodle tasted alike and were prepared using the same brown sauce. These are supposed to be distinctly different dishes, and they were not. My two guests, however, thought the sauce was good. I did not, and I, not they, are writing this. So because I believe they were lazy and prepared only one sauce, all they get from me is one star. To tell the truth, I feel cheated. read more
