There are quite some pros and annoying cons to this place. Pros: -Staff is attentive, friendly and quick. The females and one gentleman who served us the three times I've visited were courteous. -The arepas are phenomenal. Coming from a Venezuelan mixed household, the arepas here are quite on-point to tradition and also have some new mixes to shake it up -Turn around time is quick. Have not had to wait long for my food in any instance I've come. Cons: -Not "dietary restrictions" friendly. I am allergic to food coloring found in some yellow American cheeses. For this reason I avoid it everywhere. I also don't have a big appetite so I usually order the arepa sliders set (it's a set of four that you can mix and match the slider choice) so I like to order three for me and give the extra one to my husband. They are not willing to change the yellow cheese for white cheese and can't give me a reason other than "that's the menu". I get that the menu is set but surely a cheese swap is easy enough to do. If the excuse is price/profit, that is easily solved with an extra $1 added to the order for ingredient swap. -Standard 18% tips forces customers who always tip above 25% and don't carry cash (like myself) to be forced to tip below my personal desire. I'm sure it also forces customer to always tip well even if the service is poor. A tip is an extra bonus given to the waiter/waitress depending on the service provided and the customer's desire/capability to tip. Forcing a gratuity is wrong (maybe even unlawful) particularly if the party is small (4 or less people). There is also no vocalization ahead of time from the cashier about the 18% gratuity already being included. Someone not paying attention would potentially end up tipping twice. Go here if you're okay with the menu as it is and don't mind being auto-charged a 18% tip. The food is actually delicious and servers are kind, thank God, or this review would end up on the scathing end. read more

They're okay (takes a long time from the moment you order to the moment you receive them) mine was a little on the burnt side and you could taste it. In addition I had ordered two empanadas to go, I confirmed it was ground beef and when I received the bag it said shredded... In short, it was a disaster, and even worse: the wrapper contained a mess of drippings on the bottom that would have resulted in some dry-cleaning if I hadn't been so careful. If this had been my first experience eating an arepa, I'd probably never have one again. This is a small but well run and very busy restaurant​. The staff was very accommodating​. They have all the fresh ingredients on display as you order. As is often​ the case in Doral I needed help ordering since a majority of the staff did not speak English​​. But no worries I went over the menu very quickly and ordered the Bistro Special and I was not disappointed. It was stuffed full of well seasoned hot and cold; beef, pork, chicken, ​and shrimp. They have a good array of drinks in the bottle and can. I finished off lunch with a Tres Leche dessert. It was very good. The parking for here can be a challenge. I'm not putting 1 star because we had a Cachapa with chicken too and it was really good. But the empanadas filling felt like it was made with a can American chili for the beans and that's it. Didn't feel the shredded beef, cheese or plantain. It was like a burrito at Taco Bell, that you only feel like a bean cream inside. Really sad to see them going for such low standards. Just a quick disclaimer, due to the pandemic I am not able to comment on their in dining service and the restaurants ambiance. My girlfriend and I were staying at a hotel in Doral and got the sudden urge to have arepas. Doralzuela has many arepa options but we settled on Saman Arepas. On a side note, I am myself Venezuelan and my girlfriend is half Venezuelan so arepas a pretty much sacred lol. Quite simply, the arepas from this restaurant swept me off my feet. When I bit into the arepa my heart started racing, pupils dilated, butterflies in my stomach and excitement filled my soul. Yup....I was in love! We ordered the sample platter, Arepas Bistro, the pelua, and the churrasco lover. The portions here are fantastic. The arepas could not possibly hold anymore filling. The sample platter came with fried mini arepas, cachapa slices, tequenos and tostones. You can't go wrong with this! The arepitas were not oily or overly fried. They had a nice crunch soft inside. We ordered the arepas Bistro with shredded beef, avocado, roasted beef and bacon. This was my favorite arepa. They must use magic to fit so much into one arepa but a seasoned arepa eater and Venezuelan like myself was able to handle it lol. The carne mechada was amazing and the avocado was fresh. Next up was the pelua arepa with shredded beef and yellow cheese. Totally worth the calories! The cheese was melted and helped keep the shredded beef together. Finally, the churrasco lover is for the carnivores. Wonderfully filled with grilled churrasco, guac salad and white cheese. The churrasco was cooked perfectly and the guac salad was tasty. An absolute pleasure to devour! We were extremely happy with our purchase, considering there is a raging pandemic outside our doors. Overall, the packaging of the food was thoughtful, well done and Uber eats delivered the food in a timely manner. Moreover, both the filling of the arepas and the actual arepa did not disappoint and would make any Venezuelan happy. It was another thick cut of meat and it tasted very "gamey". I didn't enjoy that very much. Wish I would have ordered an arepa and stuffed it with the wide array of toppings they had. Or even ordered another cachapa! They also have fresh juices late at night. I went with a passion fruit and soursop blend. Tangy, sweet, and refreshing. Came here one night to meet up with one of my besties before he and his girlfriend left for vacay. Wanted a place that was good for a quick bite, not too expensive keeping in mind they may want to save up for their trip, and open late enough on a weekday. The empanada was really big, freshly made to order (could tell because I almost burned my mouth haha; pro tip: wait a minute before you dig in!), and it was very filling! Loving the semi-sweet and savory taste from the sweet plantain and juicy meat! Got 5 tequenos for both of us to share and they were good also. I've had long tequenos and tiny tequenos so I would say these are medium-sized. Great for sharing! Tri had 2 empanadas and a Colombian soda. I was able to taste the soda, which resembles Peruvian Inka Kola which was yummy and sweet. I don't normally drink soda but this one was a great pairing for our fried treats. He also seemed to have enjoyed the empanadas! BTW bro, for a Viet, your Spanish skills is impressive. Yess, calling him out on his bilingual talent hehe. Ample seating, mostly tables and high tops. As a Venezuelan native, I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I ordered from this place because it had free delivery on UberEats. I ordered the Pabellon Criollo (a typical Venezuelan dish) and I have to start by saying the presentation and the size of the plate was exceptional; unfortunately, the taste not so much. The rice was either overcooked or old from the day before. There was barely any juice from the black beans and the carne mechada was very dried up and tasteless. My guess is that this dish was made the day before. With that mentioned, I will have to say it won't stop me from coming back as I've heard good things about their tequeños, cachapas and arepas; which by the way, I've heard that for one price you can fill up your arepa with 4 different toppings. read more

While at Dadeland we decided to eat in the food court. I swore I was going to get something on the light side until I saw Saman. I ordered the arepas bar choose 4 toppings and got shredded chicken, black beans, white cheese and guacamole. The flavor of the chicken was amazingly tasty (I'd love to know what it was seasoned with). I've been ordering the desayuno from them for over a year. It would include one container with eggs, cheese and arepa and then a separate container with beans. Today I ordered and they gave me one container with everything put together, meaning less amounts of food. There were about 3 tablespoons of beans in there. I called to ask why they gave me so little food for the same price, and they said they changed their containers. It's the same exact containers. Lol How do I know? I'm giving them their fifth star because I'm always here and can't get enough. I'm fixated on arepas, I've tried them all over Miami, and these are my all time favorites!! Thankful they are less than a mile away from work. I love hitting up Saman for arepas when I need a quick lunch with lots and lots of YUM! These guys are super generous with the fillings. My favorite arepas are prepared with the shredded chicken, "pepia" which is chicken with avocado paste, and white shredded cheese. These bad boys give me a bit of a food-coma that is so worth it. This is a regular spot for me lately (when I'm not dieting). I also LOVE the patacon--fried plantains topped with your choice of meat, cheese, and their special sauces. The order brings three, so I will usually order one of each: chicken, pork, and beef. I can finish two of them, and will sometimes share the third. Bring your appetite! Only wish this place were a little bigger (seating is a bit limited), and that the arepas were toasting in the back. It can feel a little warm while you're eating.
