I broke my molar and couldn't get hold of my regular dentist, so I tried Same Day Dental. I spent 3 1/2 hours enduring the most painful dental experience of my life. The dentist had to drill out my filing to prepare the tooth for a crown. He would come in and drill for a while, then leave for a while; this went on for more than an hour. The novocaine wore off and he kept on drilling even though I let him know that it hurt. My jaw hurt for days after. Three weeks later, I returned to have the crown put in place. The assistants couldn't get the temporary crown off and I felt I was in danger of losing the tooth as they yanked on it. The dentist gave me a shot and got it out. Now I have a sore jaw again and extreme cold and pressure sensitivity near the new crown. I won't go back there EVER. This was not the first time I needed a crown but it was the last time I go there. read more

Same-Day Dental review is based on my experience with the company. I called on Friday evening when I broke a tooth, and pain started to shoot down my face. They instructed me to come in the next day at 2:00. I asked if they accepted my insurance, and they assured me they did. I showed up 15 min before my appointment and sat for 10 min until being called up and told they now didn't accept my insurance. I was told as a cash-paying customer I was going o pay $175 for paying X-rays that were not needed beyond the one area--then told to buy a membership at an additional cost. After was told the extraction of one tooth would start at $365, which is on the extreme high end in dentistry. So basically, they take advantage of cash-paying customers. Had they used my insurance, they would receive a lower negotiated rate, but they want to overcharge you with cash. Most dentists charge $100-$200 for extractions on a national average. This place charges people on the high side of the spectrum. Had they not said they accepted the insurance, I could have gone elsewhere, but now it is after 2:00 om on Saturday with nowhere to go. This company is ripping people off and charging extremely high rates to pay for their location. This is sad that someone is not regulating dentists and stopping them, like healthcare, to take advantage of people. I would personally stay clear of this location and find a local dentist who cares for their patients and doesn't try to rip them off. Despite the fact I had to have a tooth extracted, I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. The tooth was severely chipped and saving it would have required a somewhat lengthy and expensive procedure. The hygienist was very friendly and even joked with me before the work was done. They did not try to oversell: they listened to exactly what I needed and laid out my options. Pricing was average for this area. They would not be in business if they gave it away for free. The dentist himself was very courteous and made sure I was totally comfortable before the extraction. He explained everything to me that I needed for after care. I would highly recommend them if you find yourself in a lot of discomfort; they will take care of you. read more

DON'T GO! Ridiculous... Had a scheduled appointment for a simple teeth cleaning for $53. When I arrived they tried to do the bait and switch with me and tell me it would be hundreds of dollars. Then sat me in a room for 50 minutes when I asked how much longer I would have to wait they said maybe 20-30 minutes more. I noticed a cavity on one of my front teeth and went in to have it filled and make sure there wasn't any more. I have never had one before so I was trying to treat it urgently. He told me I don't have any cavities and there was nothing he could do for me. Found another dentist three days later...not only do I have the cavity I found on my own but I have FOUR MORE including one so bad it needs a crown. I'm not sure if he just didn't want to do the fillings that day or if he really doesn't know what a cavity looks like...either way completely inexcusable practice. read more

I dunno what these people's issues are, but this place is great in comparison to another urgent dental place in Avon I went to. Both dentists I have seen here were amazing, and the tech was so when l wonderful - taking the time to explain everything to me and answer all of my writing l questions. And if she didn't know an answer, she would go ask the dentist. Yes, they're busy and sometimes you have to wait.. but it's worth the wait. They couldn't work on my issue tonight because of my insurance but still called in medications for me that were ready by the time I got to the CVS. That's a dentist that cares.. they gave me an x-ray even though they weren't sure they'd get paid for it, then sent me home with medication since they cared how much pain I was in. The other place I went refused to give me anything for pain after completing wrecking my mouth and I returned with dry socket and still was given nothing for pain. So maybe you people that think this office in Southport is so horrible.. hi over to the place I'm talking about in Avon. See how they treat you and tell you that you're not in pain and basically accuse you of being a druggie who is lying and is in no pain at all. If you want to be treated like shit.. go over there and see how condescending and rude the office staff is. Point being: they may not be perfect, you may have to wait a long time if they're busy and you don't plan ahead and make an appointment.. but at least they treat you with some respect and don't doubt your pain. If I could give a 0 I would. I have never in my entire life been treated worse than I was at this office. I made an appointment online for 7:30pm. I got an alert on the app that the appointment time would be about 15 min behind schedule, no big deal at all. When I showed up I went to the receptionist-at least that's what I assume she was to check in. She then informs me that they were running 2 hours behind. I was frustrated because I was in an incredible amount of pain and now I would have to wait even longer. But the lady said that they were trying to fix the app and she was sorry. I understood and told her I would wait the 2 hours. I came back again after waiting 2 hours only to be informed again that it would be another 2 hours, IF they would even be able to get me in. I told the woman that I couldn't understand how it could still be another 2 hours after I had already waited 2 hours past my appointment time. She has the audacity to get mad at me for being frustrated. I am practically in tears at this point and not just from the pain I was in. I told her to just cancel my visit. As I was walking out a man that was in the office asked me if the hospital where I work) would be able to help him with his tooth problem. I was explaining our procedure to him and this woman opens the partition and yells that if I keep harassing her patients she would call the police on me. As I said before I work at an inner city hospital and have for 14 years, and I have never been treated as badly by anyone as I was by this woman. If there is any other place you can go GO there!! I checked wait times before I committed. It showed 40 minutes. I signed in online. For 5:00 (the 40 mins). Texted me as I was on my way that the wait was delayed and now my time was 5:15. Got another text to come on in at 4:40. As of 6:20, I am still waiting. Why? Why offer all of it if it is untrue and/or inaccurate? I've watched several people leave and very few called back. As I am sitting here, I can hear lots of visiting and laughing in the office and behind the doors. I realize that is deceiving for what could be reality. The only way I can start this review is by saying it hasn't been a goal of mine to go here since they made it into an emergency dental care, but I'm glad I chose to go here when I needed to. They're open 24 hours. I went at a normal hour at 3 pm. What was so great though is they take walk ins. No appointments necessary, didn't have to skip work to go, and it was actually a pretty quick experience, for me at least. Not overly impressed with the check in service. I know you have to fill out papers but the lady made it extremely confusing. I was called back before I was even done but whatever. I thought I had a cavity that was making my mouth hurt so badly. Come to find out, the extremely knowledgable dentist told me from my X Ray I have a sinus toothache. Ouch. I was in and out so quickly with a prescription it was unreal. What was the most shocking aspect was how much he knew about my teeth just by knowing me for 5 minutes, and his sense of humor. He joked I had a cavity the closer he looked. "Oh just kidding you have three!" I guess you have to entertain yourself somehow after being there for 10 hours. And he knew I had a back molar pulled when I was 13... Well since you mention it yes, yes I did! I recommend them for check ups too. They take insurance so why not go in for a cleaning, ya know? I really hope their business stays here! read more

The most painful experience and unprofessional behavior of a Dentist in my 51 years of cavities , braces, veneers, and, caps. THIS WAS THE ABSOLUTELY WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I went for an abscessed tooth extraction, Dr. Stratman attempted to numb the tooth, i repeatedly told him it was not numb, he proceeded to drill, and wrench the tooth, and i began to physically shake the pain was so severe, i told him it was so painful it was like torture and traumatizing me, He stood up, Ripped off his mask, pushed the instruments aside, and stated" You can just get your care somewhere else, I won't take care of you! ". I left physically shaken, in severe throbbing pain, a mouth full of blood, with an infected tooth that had been torqued and drilled on. I immediately left and found another dentist, who gave me antibiotics and pain medication, He told me its difficult to numb a "hot tooth" (infected) . So you must clear the infection before you try to numb it, anesthetic often will NOT work on an infected tooth. Follow up: I called to have charges reversed due to NOT receiving the paid for service, Yet, 24 Hour dental still charged my credit card and insurance read more

I have very high anxiety when it comes to dentist and I always have since I was a little girl. I've been to this place several times and each time it just gets worse an worse! The Dentist is extremely rude ! I was clearly in pain and he kept saying oh come on you can handle it. As well as are you sure you would like this the last time you were here, while I was in a full-blown panic attack. I kept crying out saying that I was not lying and it didn't even face him. The only reason why I went back to this place was because I had a severe toothache and I couldn't get in nowhere else because no one had an appointment that day! He left my gum bruised I have a purple spot right underneath my tooth where he put the shot to numb my mouth. Needless to say I had a traumatizing experience.. And I hate that I can't remember the nurse's name because she was extremely helpful.. she was nice ,she understood, she talked to me and helped calm me down. She was the only reason I was able to calm down. The dentist on the other hand was EXTREMELY RUDE !!!! IF I EVER HAVE A TOOTH PAIN THIS BAD AGAIN I REFUSE TO GO BACK TO THIS PLACE ! This was hands down the worst dental experience of my life. I needed the end of my permanent retainer re-attached & had heard from friends this typically costs 90 dollars or less (multiple individuals have quoted different dentists at this price). So when I asked about the price and was told it would be $98 I assumed that was for the whole appointment (especially because it should take 10-15 minutes & I called in advance telling them this was all I needed). Turns out the $98 was for an "exam and X-ray"....my exam was the dentist looking in my mouth saying yep, it's detached (didn't even sit down he was in and out of the room so quickly). After he left the "exam" I received my bill. Including the exam and the work required I was told my total would be over 400 dollars. For re-cementing a piece of my retainer that was still 90% attached. I told the girl i thought this pricing was insane and was informed I would still have to pay for the exam even if I elected to not continue with the re-cementing. At this point I did not want to just be out the $98 & my time so I let them continue and paid because I was stuck! (As well as severely time crunched I allotted an hour and a half after being informed on the phone the paperwork and entire appointment should take only 30 minutes, I finally left at around 1 hour 45 minutes time). Also, on top of everything else the actual work they did was not straight. As soon as it was completed by the assistant and the dentist came in to check I informed the doctor it had been placed out of line with the rest of the retainer....he stated "no it's not" (even though you can see it with a plain eye it was cemented at the top of my tooth completely different from the rest). Again, time crunched and horribly annoyed I left. I had to return to work so I did not get to speak to the manager then, but when I called to explain how I thought it was unfair they misquoted me (both on price and time) & that I did not get an x-ray which I was charged they informed me this was a "membership price" which discounted the cost of an x-ray...I again explained I did not get an x-ray & we went in circles about that to no avail. She also told me she couldn't explain why I was not better informed when I asked about pricing, & could not give a reason why it was substantially over-priced compared to competitors. The manager originally offered I come in to get it repaired being out of line, but I would rather not repeat that insanity and will go somewhere else. I asked her if there was anything else they could do and she said no, I let her know I would be informing the better business bureau know about my experience because no one should have to go through this! She called me back five minutes later stating she spoke to the doctor and could give me a partial refund. At the end of the day I still feel compelled to write this review because it's not just about the cost it's about every step of this process being overly complicated and if I hadn't fought for this they would be getting away with highway robbery on my 15 minute repair. I don't usually write reviews, but this is my second one for this place, both bad. I went in last week to have my infected wisdom teeth removed. I drove two hours one way, and then proceeded to have my appointment pushed until 9:50pm. All of this, just for the dentist to say she wouldn't do them and I could come back Friday. A week later. She assured me it was the same dentist who had done them last time (Ansari, who is fantastic. I have nothing bad to say of him.) and that was the only reason I returned. She was rude, and belittling. She prescribed me Tylenol 3s and antibiotics. I'm not sure why she would take a job at the emergency dental office if she can't handle emergencies. Well anyway, I return yesterday, the 21st. I'm feeling calm and ready to have my teeth removed because I'm under the impression I'm seeing Ansari. That's not the case. I had a dentist who I did previously see, Elbarawy. Now, he didn't do my wisdom teeth, he had done a root canal a couple years prior. A root canal that took two appointments because I couldn't pinpoint the radiating pain at the first appointment, and guessed and hoped for the best at the second. I was expecting to be sedated as Ansari did and assumed it was procedure, but after being injected with lidocaine and left in the room for nearly an hour, I realized that wasn't the case. I was going to leave, but he said give me the tablet, it would just be $199 and that I didn't tell him. I said ok. I didn't know I had to tell him. Anyway, the procedure itself went fine (I assume.) and my boyfriend took me home. This morning he went to get my medicine, and comes back with... 12 Tylenol 3s. This wouldn't have me so angry if I hadn't already had those last week and surely built a tolerance as I'm sitting here, still in pain, or the fact that Ansari gave me norco. Beyond that, there are probably 3 kind employees aside from Ansari that I've met in my SIX visits (I've failed to get something fixed in 1) to this clinic. There's a couple nice blonde assistants, and a very sweet latina looking girl at the desk. I absolutely would not come back here, and the only reason I did was because I trusted Ansari and thought he would be the one doing my teeth. They overcharge, and I recall a situation with my insurance having to get money back from them a year or two prior. I've only been so many times as it's always been the closest 24 hour place available. read more

Terrible experience. Walked out of the office angry (and still in terrible pain). The dentist clearly isn't the important one in their office. The billing people are clearly what their focus is. Before my problems had even been explained to me, I was whisked out of the exam room again and back to the front office to see which of the mystery procedures I'd be having done today and when I'll be scheduling the next ones. They knew exactly what my insurance would cover and when it would pay again. Made an appointment at 5 for a root canal because I couldn't get off work to go to my dentist. The dentist took one look at my tooth for 5 seconds and said it needs pulled. I said no it doesn't my dentist said I need a root canal then was going to get a crown. I finally said ok because I was in pain. He numbed me then over 2 hours later he came back after the numbing went away. One dentist there taking care of 6 or more patients at the same time. I finally got out of there at almost 4 hours later. He was pulling teethe for everyone there. I believe he did not want to take the time to do a root canal because he was the only one there. I told my dentist what happened and he could not believe they pulled the tooth. There was no reason to do that. Called some 800 number file a complaint and it was some vm I had to leave. Unprofessional and rude. I had someone named "Dr. Sam" and he was the rudest and most unprofessional doctor I have ever met in my life. He said that my wisdom tooth had to come out and while I was debating on making a decision he said he wouldn't even pay a dollar for it if he was in my position. He further continued to compare my tooth to a rotting tomato. After they took my tooth out, I requested to keep it (which you can do and doctors usually let you according to the cdc) he gave the excuse of "no because of covid". And I asked him again. Root canals suck. Root canals on a tooth that's on fire. At 8 am. On a Saturday morning really, really suck. Previous experiences with "urgent care" medical providers have proven to be mediocre at best, so my expectations were low. But when the right side of your head is on fire, beggars can't be choosers. What I didn't expect was the best dental experience I've ever had (and in the worst circumstances, no less). Previously, two dentists elsewhere couldn't find the source of my longtime suffering. Apparently, the fracture in my tooth that was causing the issue was well hidden. But Dr. Ringenburg with a level of humor uncharacteristic of someone getting ready to drill into your head, made a prompt and correct diagnosis. After we determined a root canal was the best approach, the staff laid out the costs (which were comparable if not a bit LOWER than my dentist's). I made payment arrangements and he went to work. My tooth was really, really bad. As I said, I'd made two previous attempts to get it fixed elsewhere to no avail. It took a few (ok more than a few attempts) to numb me completely because of mess I had. But through good humor and patience, the good doc and his assistant kept things light and my suffering at the absolute minimum. Very happy that I chose this place over the other options of waiting till Monday to see my (possibly former) dentist or to give it a shot myself with some whiskey and pair of needle nosed pliers. well done and thank you! read more

He then instructed me to speak with the office manager, who tried to charge me just under $300 in advance for a procedure that my regular dentist charged me $50 for. I had made an appt for my daughter to be seen because she was screaming in pain after normal business hours. We sat in the parking lot for 2 hours after that appt time before she was called back to be seen. The doctor spent less than 3 minutes with her and sent us on our way. When exiting I asked what meds were being called in for her and they told me they didn't know how to look that information up. After a 45 min drive home they hadn't even called meds to the pharmacy so I had to call the office back and have them resend the scripts. The pharmacy lets me know that they finally received them but it's an antibiotic that she is ALLERGIC to and an INFANT dose of Ibuprofen. I made it very clear what she was already on and what she was allergic to while I was at the office. It was a complete waste of time and money, she got zero relief that night and woke up to a horribly swollen / black and blue face. read more

Waste of our time. I took my son in for an infected tooth since our dentist was out of town. They took him back and an hour later he text me to tell me the employee did not know how to work the x-ray machine so she FaceTimed another employee to help and she didn't know how to work it. We lost an hour and 1/2 of our time for NOTHING. When I told the receptionist we were leaving and that I better not be billed for anything, she just shrugged her shoulders while the other lady, sitting behind her eating out of a box from Metro Diner, kept eating and wouldn't turn around.
